Kornering Klinsi?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Now that it’s close to year’s end, the U.S. Soccer Federation appears to be moving on hiring a new men’s national team coach.
Big surprise: They’re talking to Juergen Klinsmann, who responds to a recent Arena comment in favor of an American successor.
Klinsi says the talks involve only a “casual” correspondence for now, but “sooner or later, I have to get back into coaching.”
The MLS playoffs continue this weekend, with The Bruce’s Red Bulls down to his former D.C. United after the first leg of conference semifinals. The rematch will be ESPN2’s featured fare Sunday at 6 p.m.
But even this devoted soccer scribe bemoans the playoff format and the low attendance. This one bemoans the lack of goals.
Yippee! Landon Donovan is the Galaxy’s MVP. But the defending champs didn’t make the playoffs.
ESPN’s sent a friendly reminder that I can watch the Barcelona-Chelsea rematch in the European Champions League Tuesday on its Deportes outlet. That’s because ESPN2’s going to air Bayern Munich vs. Sporting Lisbon.
