S’backs new home has a name
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
It’s not Willie B’s Woods. Or the Jungle (already taken by Parkview High). Or Thank God It’s Not DeKalb Memorial Anymore.
No, the Silverbacks announced Friday that their new home abode, to be christened on June 3, will be called RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium. (No, I’m not yelling in Internet parlance. The first part of the official corporate name is in all caps.)
It wasn’t made clear whether the real estate giant was merely purchasing naming rights or something more, but officials with both organizations referred to their new “partnership” in a joint announcement.
On top of it all, the evening’s opposition wil be provided by the always-friendly Charleston Battery. Get used to seeing the RE/MAX hot air balloon drifting over Spaghetti Junction. You’ll have no excuses finding the place.
I’m guessing long-suffering fan I once dubbed The Lone Drummer might be the first guy through the gates. Just remember Kurt — there’s no crying in futbol.

Although “RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Stadium” is a mouthful, I’m sure a shortened “RE/MAX Stadium,” will be easier on the ears. We could call it “the RE/MAX” a la Bolton’s “the Reebok.” Just glad to see corporate support for the complex. Hopefully the fans will come out this season in good numbers, which’d justify the club expanding the facility for subsequent years. Hope to see a lot of you out there on Opening Day June 3rd…

Okay…this is where I now believe this is going to happen. You can talk and talk and talk about building a stadium. Now that they’ve entered into a naming rights agreement…there is no turning back. You drop the ball on this, and RE/MAX will have you A$$!
I’ve seen some early construction pictures, too. I’m very excited about this…count on me being out for some matches this Summer!!
Do they still have free beer before the games? :)
I think we should call it “The MAX”, a la Saved By The Bell!

I’m soo excited. I’ve been waiting for Atlanta to get a Soccer Specific Stadium and a stable club to go with it. I’m gonna have to buy some tickets I think.

Everyone will remember when Atlanta’s number one indenpendently owned RE/MAX company (RE/MAX Greater Atlanta) is partnered with the number one professional soccer team the Silverbacks. It’s exciting!

RE/MAX has Road Atlanta and now it’s largest office in Atlanta - RE/MAX Greater Atlanta is partnering with Atlanta’s NEW professional soccer team. RE/MAX you are number one!!!

Okay, clearly some folks in the RE/Max marketing department have taken over this board.
Too bad it isn’t Jenny Pruitt or Coldwell Banker Stadium. :)
Anyway, no one has answered my most important question…will there still be free beer before the games?! :)

Perhaps RE/MAX’s marketing people have not taken over the board - perhaps it’s just people, like me, who have had a great experience with RE/MAX Greater Atlanta agents and are happy to pass on the good word. And who also love soccer! ;-)

1st, they haven’t had free beer in a while, so that is disappointing. also, I’m as excited as anyon about the new stadium,. It shows a commitment to the sport and stability for the franchise. However, the problem with the stadium is that when it is completed, it will still be short of the MLS requirement for a stadium, thus ending any speculation that the ATL would get a team. Lets face it, as much as we love soccer, it is a distant 7th in the major sports market behind the major prosports and college basket ball and football. I guess you could say that it is 8th if you include Nascar. So, I think that it will be hard to get a city and a fan base in Atlanta for soccer especially if it is minor league soccer like it is now.
Just my opionion.
