Georgia High School Basketball: Sports Writers Association State Class-By-Class Polls
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
This basketball season, AJC staff writers Glenn LaFollette and Rob Morton will post their top 10 boys/girls Metro Atlanta all-class team rankings each week and we’ll provide the GSWA statewide class-by-class rankings separately.
We’d like to hear your opinions on both the AJC’s Metro Atlanta Top 10 as well as the GSWA rankings. Here at AJC Sports, we’re always most interested in what our readers think of the metro and state hardcourt happenings.

I believe Northwest Whitfield should be higher in the AAAA girls poll. They’ve only lost twice but they both came due to buzzer beater winners by the opposition. Keep in mind that Northwest Whitfield’s mens team is the only team to beat #2 Hillgrove. I think they should at least get a vote for that feat.

Obviously the coaches spent their MLK day doing something fun because they didn’t go watch Miller Grove turn Centennial into a JV level team. Also, Campbell took them to double overtime and Roswell came with 2 points of defeating them. So I don’t understand why they deserve to be no.1 again. Would somebody wait them up and tell them that centennial is self destructing and they are losing their credibility by voting for them.

Devil lover, its because voters are still harping on the win over wheeler way back on december 10th or so….they played their best game of the year in december while wheeler was figuring out what kind of team they were going to be with emotional team leader Dequan Jones moving on to Miami… wheeler took its lumps early on with a loss to centennial and the losses to national powers, but the losses are only going to help them come tournament time….we will see how wheeler plays vs the knights if they meet in the region tournament….i’m inclined to believe it will be vastly different..i’d agree with todd, norcross is #1 until beaten in state, and i have no problem saying that as a wheeler fan

Could someone in the know give us a rundown on some specifics about Valdosta? I hear they’ve got a pretty talented guard who can light up the scoreboard, but I don’t kmow much about him or anything about the rest of their starters or their bench. They must have some decent talent across the board at 19-1 and with the largest per game pf vs. pa in AAAAA at 82-57(per gaprep).
Thx.

Redan girls should be ranked #2 in 5A. They have yet to lose a game this season. They should be by far the favorites to win state. When you consider they returned all of their best players and added Mckenzie. Go Redan!

Redan girls deserve more coverage. However, not sure what your problem is with McKenzie. They are a great group of girls that play very well together. Redan has two Nationally Ranked Playes “Alisha Andrews & Nia Evans”.They also have a brench this year, so stop being a hater & be a motivator………
