I will give 20 points to Bradwell and 4 to one odds. That is how confident I am of that game. Newnan will lose by three, Camden will win by 7 or less. Coffee will win by 14. 1AAAAA rules.

Hey Region 8 Fan. Do you rememember the last time Northside lost a game by 20? Think about it. Wait for it. Wait for it. Do you remember???? It was 2003. It has been so long ago I had to look it up. Do you really think they will lose by 20? Get real. They may lose but it will be close. They have the top ranked DT in the Nation and a linebacker that has signed with Clemson. I don’t see the defense giving up over 20 points.

By the way Region 8 Fan Camden is playing Northside-WR. Not Warner Robins. Just FYI. Warner Robins is the other team in Houston County that has won 4 state titles, 23 region titles etc…. I know it gets confusing when there are multiple teams from one town that have winning traditions.

The TV game is on CSS, which is usually Ch. 45 on Comcast. But that can vary depending on which cable system you have and where you are in town.

This will an exciting game and the team with the least turnovers wins. Good luck to both teams and fans. GO CAMDEN……

There is no way that Camden County blows out Northside, nor will Northside blow out Camden County. The the first poster, I would take Lowndes County and give Bradwell 38 points. Seriously. Bradwell lost to 3-7 Houston County this year. Lowndes 49, Bradwell 0

Northside 20, Camden County 7

Camden County is representing themselves. Now, Northside has decided to wake up and represent the Eagles.

Again, big plays have made the difference. Camden had a HUGE play up the middle on their first drive to set up their first drive. They followed with a 70+ yard touchdown pass.

This must come to an end. I feel very confident that Xavier Bacon is going to get his. Joe Scott appears to have developed some confidence.

For every poster who believes that playing in big games does not matter. Let’s see what happens should Northside tie this thing up. Big game experience will come into play. Mark my words.

Go Eagles!

Georgia HS Football Lacks, this is why Georgia television should not televise metro Atlanta area teams. There are programs all across the rest of the state, south of the Gnat line, selling every inch of their stadiums.

Camden County leads Northside 14-7 at halftime in a packed stadium in Kingsland. Camden County’s ball first!

To Georgia High School Football Lacks That depends what schools are being televised; certainly not a South Georgia school. If they were televising any of the 1 5A match-ups tonight, there would probably be standing room only. Maybe television stations should be more selective in the teams they choose to spotlight.

Hey Mark, I agree about our program, we have been good for years and been to the dome 5 out of 6 years, so we are playing and beating all the Atlanta matro teams to get there, just the past two year, just futurnate to run into a great Vikings team, just says that SA Georgia is were the best football is at now.

NSWR touchdown, apprently there was a obvious block in the back but no call, NSWR misses the extra point.

Tift giving too much cushion on Newnan WRs and Tift is moving the ball, but Tift QB can’t hit a bull in the butt with a base fiddle right now. Tift recivers running wide open in first half. Tift defense had 1 let down play for the TD, otherwise Newnan is average on Offense. Tift defense been on field the whole game. Tift play calling has been horrible.

I just spoke to my dad who is at the game with many Northside fans in Kingsland. The game is practically over.

Hats off to the Camden County Wildcats! Good luck throughout the rest of the year. Congratulation to Northside’s senior class. You have given us a great four years. 54-3 over four years with 3 State Championship appearances and 2 State Championships is more than any Eagle fan could have hoped for.

Thanks for the memories. It is great to be a Northside Eagle!

Great win for Camden County. Good luck throughout the rest of the season. Good luck to all teams from our great region, Region 1AAAAA. I hope all high school fans support the State Championship format in the Georgia Dome.

Let’s sell out the Georgia Dome in support of great high school football across the Peach State. I will be pulling for everyone from Middle Georgia and Region 1AAAAA. Good luck to you all.

Thanks Northside!

Game is over. The Wildcats were simply better and showed so much discipline and class. Hats off to the Wildcats. Camden County 28, Northside 20. FINAL

MrsSmithinthacity and CamdenHood you team won this thing fair and square. There are no excuses from the Eagle Nation. Camden County simply outclassed and out fought our Eagles.

Camden fought all the way down the field when the game was on the line. Many programs would have folded when leading 14-0 only to see Northside score 20 straight points.

It shows fight. Congratulations and hats off to Camden County.

We are VERY proud of our Northside Eagles. 10 wins against 2 losses…those 2 losses coming from the #2 ranked team in America, Lowndes County, and the #10 ranked team in America, Camden County. That is not too bad in the big scheme of things.

Nice win and hats off to the loyal fans of Camden and Northside.

A tough night for region 1-AA. A hell of a battle it appears as Dublin edges out my beloved DAWGS 21-14. Cook went down as well tonight. But hey, there is nothing to hold your head down for in the BULLDAWG nation and the Rose City; a great run, a second place region finish, and second round playoff finish. A solid core return next season to do it all again. Congrats to a fine Dublin team and community. Best of luck next week against Buford.

I’ve been to the Lowndes’ stadium a number of times; maybe impressive by Georgia standards but no where near the facilities you’ll find in Texas, around Birmingham and Florida. You need to get outside of Georgia once in awhile and see how some of the high school football power states do things. I have and we are way way way behind. Also, I am back in the state I came from-GA.

Chicken, hen, wanna be eagle,

I’m looking for you…..SAY IT AINT SO!!!!!!! The great and mighty, invincible, awesome, only two championships, northside goes down to camden and get their azz whupped!!!! Northside is who I thought they were: a team that wins a lot of games, but lose the big ones!!! In you own words, tell northside I said its time FOR GIRLS BASKETBALL!!!! Now shut yo azz up, northside is a wanna be big program…thats why they don’t strike fear in anybody in this state when it comes down to the big games!!! From henceforth chicken, don’t be disrespecting programs like you did camden…you just wore them out talking about their home playoff record and predicted a 20-7 Ns victory. They scored 28 on yawl and oh how I wish they would have punched that last touchdown in on yawls azz…but the coach took a knee!!! Greatness is earned dude, and no matter what you say ns aint there yet!!!! I’m gonna stop right now, but you know I aint no where near through with yo weak azz. Now keep on sittng there and try to drink your sorrows away, b/c I know your azz looking like a sad, sick puppy!!! I will send the EMT’S over to your house b/c I know you’re having seizures…..LOL!!!!!!

I’ve got to say, I’m pretty disappointed with the coverage from the AJC. One minute, they have the HIES/Wesleyan score listed as Holy Innocents’ 14, Wesleyan 7 in the 4th. A few minutes later, they have a final score of Wesleyan 21, Holy Innocents’ 7 listed.

Lesson learned- go somewhere else for accurate reporting when it comes to HS sports. From now on, it’s the GHSA website for me.

This cat is a fake…now he’s trying to save face since he’s talked soo much smack all season!!! And the truth of the matter is, he has respect for no program in this state but ns. No matter how good a program has been, he will find something negative to say, and give you a plethera of reasons why ns is better!!! I will cut this kitten no slack as I already told him what I would do!!!! Just for the heck of it, I will go ahead and type it this time: EAGLE NATION RISING…JAYBO IS LOOKING FOR YOU!!!!!

Agree with you on Lassiter. What Coach lindsey ahs done his first year has been amazing. I have been out to 3 games this year, and was azazed at the transformation sicne i graduated from there. And it sounds like the program as a whole (JV, middle school, etc levels) are buzzing with tons of kids wanting to play. I think I read a note that said there were 50 something that came out for football on varsity last year and that number almost doubled for this year. With the support the community has shown and the new buzz…and with the facilities upgrades…

Peachtree ridge 17 Harrisson 7

The game was scoreless at the half because both defenses were on fire and I don’t think anyone got within 10 yards of the endzone in first half.

In 3rd quarter, Peachtree ridge made a field goal and then a touchdown for 10-0

4th quarter - Harrisson made a touchdown and next play P. ridge got something like a 6o yard return and followed it with a ~30 yard touchdown pass to make it 17-7. In the last minute, P. ridge got 1st and goal w/ 3 timeouts left, but took the knee for sportsmanship, I guess.

Congratulations to the Mighty Wildcats. A special congrats to the offensive line, you guys are really impressive. Way to go Kameron Taylor standing up #97. Christin Milstead has a pretty pass, especially the one to DeAngelo Smith. AJC better recognize Camden is the team to watch. Stop slpeeping on our impressive success.

Let me say congratulations to Camden Co. for winning an excellent game and good luck to you next week in the playoffs.

Congratulations to my Northside Eagles for winning 10 games when most people didn’t think they would win 5 with the “Big Boys” in 5A. School size doesn’t have everything to do talent. Good luck next year adn may South Georgia dominate the remainder of the playoffs.

Let me clear the air from both sides and bring some peace to this war of words. Both JAYBO and EagleNationRising are die hard fans of their programs. I’m from Thomas County (A DAWG til I die) but I live in Houston County now. My son played here at HCHS. Both counties have very proud programs with intensely loyal fans with deep traditions and pride. I can only say that I am happy that the TWO counties I call my true home and my adopted home have such intense passions about the likes of HOCO, WRHS, NHSWR, PHS, TCCHS, and yes, THS. THAT IS THE TRUE ESSENCE OF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL; bringing communities together in the name of fun and pride. Let’s get ready for 2009 baby!! And JAYBO, I’ll see ya at the THS/TCCHS game in 2009!! Marist 28 Sequoyah 12. What a great game at Hugh Spalding Stadium tonight. It was anybody’s to win or lose at the half, but Marist capitalized on several Sequoyah miss-queues in the 3rd and 4th quarters to put the game away. Sequoyah had a very good team. Their QB threw the ball very well. Marist had their running game bottled-up the entire game. In the end Sequoyah’s inability to run the ball cost them as they couldn’t control the clock or the ball down the stretch. Special teams killed them as they had a punt blocked for a touch down, a missed field goal, and a missed extra point. Their inability to punt the ball with any degree of success cost them field position numerous times during the game. In the end, Marist began to pound the ball with their ground game in the second half and closed the deal. Looks like Mt. Zion at the “Hugh” next week. Good luck War Eagles. And congratulations to Sequoyah for a great season.

Congratulations to the Peachtree Ridge Lions. I said earlier they had the best defense Harrison played against all year and nothing changed my mind after the game tonight. They controlled every aspect of the game and made plays when they had to on both sides of the ball and special teams. It is tough to beat a good team twice in one season and that was proven tonight. PR was the better team tonight. Ironic that in their two games this year both teams scored a total of 20 points each. 13 - 3 Hoyas and then 17 - 7 Lions. The Lions did it when it counted.

Good luck in the quarterfinals and beyond.

We all know the great Lowndes and Camden will beat every one, there really should be a separate blog for you guys down there. Im not sure why the two lower brackets are even playing, they should all stop right now and just let you guys take it to the house with some unlucky team from the bracket across from you! I’m not going to even acknowledge the numerous post you guys will make all week. Our Offense is not as strong as yours (apparently), but I don’t think you have faced a defense like ours this season. Grayson visitors side is all general admission. The reserved seats on the home side are for the boosters who buy season tickets.

800p, thanks for the kind words. Not many schools have been able to run on us this year. Passing is a different story. The home side was so silent after EP put that TD pass on us their first series. We shut em down after that, but what a way to start a game.

Jaybo, I hate to admit it, but you are right. Lowndes will indeed blow Grayson out, just like Newnan did to Tift. The top tier, Lowndes, Camden and Newnan all look pretty strong. The rest of us will be lucky to not be embarassed.

The coin toss for home field will occur Saturday.

Lowndes won’t bring 5000 fans to Grayson. Just like East said they would be thousands, then showed up with about 400. I think you might be able to pack about 1000 or 1500 if you aren’t too fat. No need to come though, because it won’t be much of a game. Just another scrimmage for the Vikes.

EP scored in the first 5 min of the game. I heard earlier on Thursday morning, that #16 Greg Zellner had pneumonia and was not going to play tonights game. Can’t believe no one is talking about Tucker at Westside-Macon next week. This is a “prove it” game for the Seminoles. Their region turned out to be pretty bad as all the teams outside of Westside got blown out in the first round. Interesting to see how Westside reacts if they get down 7-0 or 14-0 to Tucker. If Westside thinks they can waltz through Tucker, they are in deep trouble. The Tigers has looked almost flawless since the Marist meltdown. Look out!!!

Grayson Lowndes “will” bring a big contingency. You can count on it. You can start by sending about 3000 tickets down for us to presell. If you need us to sell some tickets on the home side for you send those too. I was wondering what the big gift was going to be to East. If Zellner had pneumonia, he would not have been able to play at all, depending on what stage of the disease he was in. Didn’t EP score on like their 5th or 6th play? Definitely their first possession. That long pass to #18, the guy that was at least 6’8” that they tried to throw most of their passes to.

Lowndes, I find it interesting that your band has named themselves after a drum and bugle corps from New Jersey that was popular back in the early 80’s. That group wore yellow raincoat type uniforms. They were very good, however.

Not so big, EP said they were bringing 1000 + over and there might have been 150-200 there.

It is usually just one person from EP saying all the stuff about how many people they will bring to games. Against Harrison this clown said they were bringing 3,500 or more to the game and they had maybe a 1,000 at best even though the two schools are about 10 minutes at the most apart from each other. Most of them left in the 3rd quarter.

The Rams of Grason will give a great game to the Vikings of Lowndes.. Might even upset the Boyz from Valdosta…

The best game that could possibly played….. by the best TEAMS in the state of Georgia would be…..

The Vikings vs the Wolves from Buford!!!

Make it HAPPEN!! Pay each school $10,000. and the proceeds to the Board of Education and sponsors!!!

Play that bad boy in Valdosta or Buford…

We will bring the fans. Yall just need to make sure you have enough room to sit the fans because it will be a lot more the EP, somewhere to park all the buses that the band will bring and if the lowndes student section comes which I have a feeling most will get ready for them to be LOUD.

Folks, if some of you can’t tone it down a notch and keep things clean and respectful as we cautioned earlier up in this thread, we’ll have to shut down the board. And we really don’t want to do that because we like having this forum open for you to chat about playoffs all weekend long. We created it for you.

Definitely enjoy your wins, but please also show some class to those who didn’t go home with a victory. Keep the smacktalk fun, interesting and don’t make it personal so that this board stays online for everyone to enjoy, that’s all we’re asking.

Free For All regulars, we’re counting on you to help keep the trolls and flamers out of the mix as much as possible. You regulars know who you are and we appreciate you being the kind of football fans who keep these boards fun and lively. Thanks.

In your own words that I’ve heard several times on here…”east travels well”…what happened..somebody said yawl had only about 200 fans at the game tonight…but I know It was cold as heck out tonight!!

For those Marist fans ask Chadwich if he thinks keeping his first string in the entire game and running up the score was such a great idea if he has to face Tucker again! In Hillgrove defense they self destructed but after their coach kept the first string in after Tucker pulled theirs he tried 2 on-side kicks and trash plays and it got him 15 points against the 2nd string - pretty sad.

I shouldn’t have to tell yall but Camden players. HA a joke.

5 “Smith is a sure handed possession receiver with good upside” - ESPN.com Seriously? Sure handed? Haha that’s why he dropped two passes that would have been TD’s against bradwell. This kid is going to be an embarrassment to the SC program

Baker might be the softest running back I ever seen besides number #8 (I don’t even know his name and don’t plan on finding out) all he does is run away from people and as soon as he sees our fast defense he will crumple up and be shut down just like Lowndes did to him in the semis. The fullback number 15 cant hold on to the ball so when all the speed plays don’t work hell get the ball and cough it up to us, touch down north side. #32 suck too. HA HA

The QB milstead needs to move back to safety, or not play at all he cant make a throw he’ll probably throw 3 interceptions against us. Wait I take that back all he will do is hand it off because Jeff Herron is to scared to throw it even when they get down big in the first quarter.

I already dogged one receiver but the other one number 11 green. he plays DB too. Hes slow as dirt and will get Mossed im guaranteeing it. Along with number 25, 26 and any other DB who has the balls to get in against NHS.

From what Ive seen and heard the LB’s are strait but after all the injuries to their top players and the fact that # 22 Robert Williams will prolly be drunk, or get suspended again by this Friday I don’t think there is much to worry about… no forget that them boys suck too. Along with the defensive line who will get pushed back all day, even farther than camdens undersized slow o line.

Even special teams sucks for them boys from kingsland. Their kicker? HA a joke. Their kick returnerS? HA this biggest joke of all. Punt coverage/return? HA a joke. Kick coverage? HA a joke.

Did I leave anyone out? don’t matter yall are nobodies anyways.**

It’s funny how our team is a joke by this person. We are laughing to round 3 while they are crying all the way home. Where are all the haters posting bad about camden? Those eagles (I mean yard birds)

Congrats to a fine Grayson team. They played error free football and that is what it takes. EP didn’t play overly well though alot of that can definitely be attributed to the Grayson defense. EP’s defense played well enough to win the game, but mistakes at inopportune times doomed them. Execution is king in the playoffs and Grayson executed better then EP.

About the crowd size. Interesting comments. Not sure why people are saying there was 200 people, but that was definitely not the case. I walked and did a rough count early in the third quarter and there were slightly over 700 fans plus the band when it finally got there. Down slightly but yes the cold probably had something to do with it. The home stand were roughly 65 pct full. Not sure what the home capacity is but looked to about 2500.

All in all a good hard fought game with the better team winning.

Side note: Big thumbs down to the EP band director and cheerleading staffs for a serious lack of planning. Showing up two min into the second quarter is ridiclious.

Nice facilities and good hospitality by Grayson fans at the stadium. One thing: Why was the loudspeaker system turned off on the visitor side. Mistake or intentional?

Best wishes to Grayson as you move on to play Lowndes.

The only second round game Saturday, Thomson at LaGrange. I hope LaGrange can get win and get a shot at Dunwoody.

I guess you can stop asking if Newnan is for real now

A lot of people thought i was smoking when I said Shaw would beat Baldwin. Shaw had Baldwin taking a knee and a mandatory 10 count before Baldwin was able to recover and get the win.

It says *Marist hasn’t lost a home playoff game since 19948. *

This was the same NSWR team that could only beat St. Pius by one play in the dome

GOOD JOB NS EAGLES, FIRST YEAR IN AAAAA WAS A SUCCESS YOUR ONLY TWO LOSSES WAS TO THE TWO TOP RANKED TEAMS. GREAT GAME A CLASSIC. THATS THE GAME GPTV SHOULD HAVE SHOWN THIS WEEK. HOLD YOUR HEAD UP NS, YOU PLAYED A GREAT GAME. Guys, don’t be so fast to throw your band and cheerleaders under the bus. I passed your bus trailors on 285 while on the way to Peachtree Ridge and traffic was aweful. I left Kennesaw at 4:30 and they were ahead of me as I passed them. The had to have left before 4:30 then and just got caught up in a mess. For what it is worth, the first time we went to PR our band got stuck in traffic and showed up just before haltime as well. Without a crystal ball I am sure they thought they had enough time so cut them some slack and no, I am not a band dad sticking up for other bands I am a football dad all the way.

Was at the P’tree Ridge-Harrison game last night. Very evenly played game. Main difference, P’tree Ridge got 10 points off turnovers, where Harrison got 0 points off of 2 P’tree Ridge turnovers. Also, after Harrison scored to cut the margin to 10-7, the Lions scored in less than a minute with a long kick return & a pass on the next play to go up 17-7. BTW, any Coffee fans coming up from Douglas, can find hotels at exit 104, 107 & 111. P’tree Ridge is 2 miles west of I-85 @ exit 109. Good luck to all teams next week.

First of all congrats to all the teams that pulled off wins last night. Sounds like there were some good ones from reading all the previous post. It appears that quite a few teams are calling out LOWNDES, just be careful of what you wish for because you just might get it. Hey, but for now all we’re going to do is concentrate on GRAYSON. I just pray that coin toss goes in LOWNDES’ favor because I really hate to drive all the way to GRAYSON to see LOWNDES dominate yet another game that we should be playing in our own back yard. Who is going to be flipping this coin anyway? If the GHSA would just move out of the way and just let these boys play football the way we did the playoffs with the old format all of us would all ready know where the game would be played. Who else flips a coin to determine where a game will be played? Maybe it’s just me, but I think it’s so stupid to make two opposing coaches drive all the way to Macon, or where ever it may be, just to flip a coin. Just venting a little.

O.K, Grayson’s pass defense needs some work, who puts the corner back face to face with w/recvr that is 6.5 then doesn’t jamb him plays chase after he blows by doesn’t put the safety over the top to help, that 1 play made the rams look bad, once #16 was aloud to play the passing game was shut down due to pressure and coverage, i think he fires-up D# and scares the Q.B, also the zebra crew made some BAD calls, who-ever #1 is on E.P has a terrible attitude and single hand lost the game as he was juked outta his shoes over and over -pushed and shoved after the whistle because he got beat poor lil guy… as for LOWNDES blowing Grayson out I DON’T THINK SO, Grayson has the best D# around and lowndes will have its work cut out for them, ive seen REID and DEMPS THEY LOOK AWESOME BUT they cut back alot and are very shifty, POINT is Grayson gang tackles and you wont see alot of 1 on 1 and has a great pursuit, with #16 and #18 anchoring the outside LB position it will require multiple players to block them freeing up a very fast line that has great lateral speed and strength, with that being said, i think LOWNDES has the better team because they are better on both sides of the ball and Graysons D# has kept them playing , don’t count the rams out but it doesn’t look good for them ….

As far as our fans, there were a lot more than 200 fans.

And I think the the Band and cheerleaders had to wait for buses to finish their normal drop offs before they could get the buses back to the school to pick them up. Something they had no control over.

Cougerfan Please wake up if you think GRAYSON or NEWNAN can handle LOWNDES. Trust TIFT ain’t * LOWNDES. Before you start calling out the *MIGHTY VIKINGS just take care of things over on your side of the bracket. If by some chance your beloved COUGARS make it passed CAMDEN then LOWNDES will be sitting there waiting to give you all that you want. So, to get some you first have to bring some. LOWNDES doesn’t buy into streaks and doesn’t care about shut outs. Just ask NORTHSIDE what happened to their 35 game win streak. You probably should be more focused on the possibility of facing Camden b4 you start asking for LOWNDES. Trust me NEWNAN can’t handle LOWNDES just like GRAYSON won’t be able to Friday night. The only worry I have about Friday night is can the GRAYSON stadium accomodate the sea of Viking fans that will be heading north. Where is Grayson anyway? To Vikings Fool, oops I mean Vikings Rule . Lowndes needs to worry about their side of the bracket or you may be watching the title game instead of playing in it. Newnan has been disrespected all season long and we don’t want it to change now. We take it one game at a time and after we finish tearing you a new one, you will see what your friends at Tift Co. just found out. See you soon.

Hey lowndesviking1 and SouthGaRules I doubt if Cougerfan has even seem *Lowndes play one single game. If Cougerfan had any wits he would stop thinking ahead to *Lowndes and concentrate on NG and Camden and/or Woodstock. So, is he totally ignoring the fact that all those are good programs and capable of beating Newnan. He keeps calling out Lowndes because deep inside he’s praying that some other program goes ahead and takes us out so they don’t have to face us. Hey GraysonFan2 looking forward to a good game Friday night.

Hurricane Wildcat: You should be ashamed of the things your said about individual players on NSWR team. They lost to an outstanding team in Camden County. It could have easily gone the other way. Camden Fans and Staff were very nice. These are 16,17, and 18 boys on both teams giving their best—many will play together again in College—but to belittle players is low class. You identified by number many players and call one player soft by name who ran for 162 yards. Shame on you! I am sure most Camden Fans do not approve of what you said.

Hey Guys,

Has anybody seen eagle nation rising since last night????? Public enemy #1 has pulled a whoodini on us…LOL!!!! Hey didn’t I tell yawl this cat was weak????….I know weakness when I see it..I have learned through the years that whenever someone has that much mouth, always trying to put others down…..they are really suffering with some personal insecurities themselves!!! To be honest his absence today does not suprise me at all!!!! Yea, yea, I know he got on here immediately after the game last night with his brief little fake azz congratulatory speech, but a guy with sooo much to say previously, needs to jump back in here, man up, admit he was wrong in his words and move on!!!

I don’t need an apology as far as my TCC is concerned, though he did say that “TCC is just an average football program without a good winning percentage!!!”…that’s not my greatest beef with him….My beef with ENR is how he got on here and just dogged camden co all season long!!! Talked about them playing in a weak region and how they had the worst home playoff record in ga…he really hammered them on that one!!!! He really played camden co like they don’t belong….just total disrespect!!!! Now, why not get on here ENR and apologize to camden and their fans…just admit you were wrong about them, and they are a ligit player in AAAAA ball in ga. But you are waaay to weak to man up and do that!!!

ALL I CAN SAY IS, ENR FROM NS IS WHO I THOUGHT HE WAS…..!!!!!

Observations on Camden/Northside Game and AAAAA

First and foremost, Xavier Bacon is the most impressive running back I have seen go up against Camden (apologies to Greg Reid who is still the most dangerous, but at least you can tackle him if you make contact). What was most impressive was the fact that he alwyas seemed to find a seam and his yards AFTER contact. We will see him on Saturday’s someplace.

From my view point it was a game made up of three games. First quarter and most of the second, Camden was able to put points on the board and hold NS in check until they gave them the short field late in the 2nd and NS capitalized right before half. Camden takes the 2nd half kick off and drives to the NS 35 and on 3rd and 2 Camden tries to surprise with a pass and could not execute. Fake punt on 4th and the momentum swings back to NS. They were able to dominate the rest of the period and go up by a score. Late in the third Camden takes over on their own 20 after the kick off and drives down the field, all run plays. After that, NS was never able to mount much.

I have read that Camden ran for 280 yards against a pretty good defensive team. Very impressed with LB #32 Ivey and DB #12 Williams. What was most impressive is the fact that the majority of it was between the tackles. Offensive line was able to neutralize their line and the Wing-T and speed of the backs forced the defense to respect the corners.

Interesting to note that their were very few penalties on either side and no personal fouls. Shows me that those are two very well coached and disciplined football teams. A great football game. Congratulations to Northside on a great season. I would love to have you on the non region schedule as there would be the opportunity for some instant classics.

My only wish is that people will finally shut up about the fact that Camden plays in Region 3 (as if we really have a choice) and recognize them for what they are….a very good football program that can win anyplace.

Newnan had an impressive win over Tift and apparently took control in the 2nd half. If Camden beats Woodstock (which I believe will happen….too many horses, not enough saddles) a match-up with Newnan or North Gwinnett (which I think Newnan will win). On the other side, Lowndes has too much speed and too much D for Grayson, regardless of where they play (I know they have improved over last years team which came to Camden in the 3rd round and had the offense pretty well shut down). Coffee and Peachtree Ridge will likely be the most interesting match up of the night. Don’t even want to hazard a guess on this one….bet the under.

To Sanity Rules oops Insanity Fool Newnan has probably been disrepected all season because nobody cares about your team but you. It’s not our fault that the likes of * LOWNDES, CAMDEN, NORTHSIDE, AND COFFEE* got all the love this season. Hey, if you want to be the man then you got to beat the man. Sorry, but what has NEWNAN proven yet? What has Newnan done any differently from the rest of us. So what that you’ve won a few games? So, are we all supposed to just stop and give your Cougars praise for doing something that all the other teams are doing too. Not saying that NEWNAN doesn’t have a good program but I just don’t think it can handle Lowndes or Camden. TROJANDUDE keep bragging, they just mad. Keep that 1AAAAA train rolling baby.

First & again, CONGRATULATIONS to Camden County HS. The Wilcats gave it to us. It is that simple. We were outfought, because that game was a brawl. Camden’s coaching staff did a great job and definitely answered the bell.

I always believed that the odds were against Camden County due to the way they have performed in past playoffs. I provided extensive proof which supported my claims (it certainly existed). Obviously, I was wrong. I can easily admit that for the satisfaction of posters like Jaybo. I don’t mind a little trash talk. You are welcome to give it to me. I can dish it and I can take it. This is just a blog site.

As I stated all week, this thing was settled on the field and the Wildcats from Kingsland came out on top. All you can do is congratulate your opponent and walk awy with your heads held high.

I am very proud of my Northside Eagles. This senior class has gone 54-3 and played in 3 State Championship games. Those 3 losses came from a State Champion, 2005 Statesboro team (led by a QB who signed at Michigan and Georgia DE Justin Houston), second ranked team in the US, 2008 Lowndes County team, and tenth ranked American team, 2008 Camden County…ALL ON THE ROAD.

If you had said to me in 2004 that Northside had a freshman class that would go 54-3, win 2 State Championship games, and only suffer 3 losses in the next 57 games, I would do cartwheels.

For these Eagles, I am doing cartwheels.

BIG CONGRATS to Camden County, Coach Herron, the Wildcat fans, and the players. Good luck throughout the playoffs. As I said, I will be at the Georgia Dome to support the GHSA State Championship format here in my city. No matter what Jaybo says, I wish the remaining 8 teams all the best.

Northside seniors (54-3), thanks for the memories. The Eagle Nation is VERY proud of you!!!

To: Northside Warner Robins Players & Fans

I wish to thank you for such a truly exciting and nerve racking game. Last night was a game for the ages and in the best tradition of what high school football is all about.I have seen hundreds of games and last night’s will surely rank among the best. Both team’s competed from the heart and it is a shame that one had to lose. The loss was only on the scoreboard as both teams exhibited the qualities to win in life til the final whistle. My hat is off to you as your have earned the respect and admiration of a true Camden fan.

First of all, I had to change my blog name to CamdenCoRising because some one else on here who has not been apart of this blog very long started using the Camdenwildcat moniker I had been using all year…

That being said, to my man JAYBO, I am with you man. ENR, Reeze, Northside08 and so many others from NSWarner Robins have gotten on this blog and talked about how mighty the eagles are and that no one could beat them. Well those 2 losses on your record came from somewhere guys!!! For weeks ENR has given lessons about NSWR history VS every team they have ever played. He and many others from the “eaglenation” have said all year that Camden is weak and doesnt play anybody and will be destroyed in the playoffs. RIIIIIGHT!!! Xavier Bacon and the linebacker Fileds are good players but the other 20 players on the field werent that great, even Abry Jones. I saw 165lb Greg Baker put a stiff arm on him that completely turned your 300lb all-american around and nearly floored him. Jones is seriously overrated.

But I have to give kudos to Nix and the Northside team. Great composure to come back when Camden had them down 14-0 and was trying to put the game away in the first half. They just gave the ball to BAcon and he definitely did his thing, because the Camden defense was going to put that QB in the hospital if they kept dropping back to pass. He got sacked about 5 times in the first half.

BUT I DIGRESS, to the aforementioned bloggers, like Jaybo said, IT IS GIRLS BASKETBALL SEAON IN ALL OF WARNER ROBINS, including NHS.

ENR,,,,, Where are you??? you know the blog needs you to enlighten us with your all knowing history lessons. Why dont you post about Northside’s game next week,,, sorry, the pads are going into storage until next year!!!

HEY JAYBO

You are OUTTA control this morning…LOL!

Well we went to Grayson and in spite of some post took a LOT more than any 200 fans…Had good Bar B Que at A.J.’s Tasty pig and saw 2 VERY evenly matched teams play.

EAST scored on the first possesion with a long pass then had Grayson stopped COLD when a HUGE momentum changer occurred. EAST jumped offside and a 4th and long became 4th and short for GRAYSON. They went for it and made the 1st down and went on to score, then went for the 2 pt conversion and made that. Grayson 8 EAST 7…

Neither team fumbled all night but East again had penalties cause Grayson to have great field position and they scored again before halftime but missed the extra point. Grayson now 14 East 7

The second half Grayson ATE up the clock on the ground but only scored another 3 points on a field goal. EAST could never get going on Offense..

Grayson stuffed the middle great all night but this game COULD HAVE been won by EAST thru the air…dropped passes and penalties again cost EAST a game. They have got to play ERROR FREE ball in these big games, quailty teams like GRAYSON will make you pay when you don’t. They showed that tonight.

East had a FINE season and we are very proud of the team, the coaches, the band, cheeleaders and everyone it took to make this all happen as it did.

Great game last night Grayson but I must say I think Lowndes is going to RUN WILD next week. I don’t think this year’s EAST team or Grayson’s can stand up to the size and speed they are bringing.

HOYADAWG, WILDMAN, HOYAGIRL…SEE YA’LL NEXT YEAR…YA’LL COME TO US THEN…LOL!

I would also like to say that I told you so about Newnan. I know this from playing sports in high school. I will never a kid that Newnan had named Adam Cash, who was drafted out of high school by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Does anyone from Newnan know where this guy is now?

In Warner Robins had what was certain was a State Championship baseball team. When we were about 10 minutes away from “play ball” there were so many fans from Warner Robins, it seemed like a home game and another cakewalk (although Statesboro had a really strong team in the previous round).

In about 5 minutes, a bell rang and what seemed like every student at Newnan ran down the hill. It was honestly unnerving. They were so loud and they were so good. They beat our team 2-1 and then 1-0…both home runs by Cash (a 2 run shot and then a solo shot the next game in the bottom of the 7th)

Newnan does not always field great teams. When they are rolling, you know that they are good. If Newnan beat Tift County 42-0, they are really, really good.

The coin toss between a potential Newnan and Camden County game should be interesting due to the fact that the visiting team will be forced to travel so far. Of course, there is plenty of football left to be played before any of us assume who is in the State Semifinals (that includes sleeping on Grayson who hammered Warner Robins 30-0).

Everyone proclaims that Peachtree Ridge (who quietly won the State Championship two years ago) is playing the best football in metro Atlanta right now.

This thing is fun. Watch out for Newnan. Regular posters know that I have said this for some time. I had hoped that it would be Northside at Newnan. Just watch out for those guys.

My Eagles are done. I need to take a short drive up to Gwinnett County and see what everyone is talking about with the Peachtree Ridge team. Sorry Ridge fans, I will be quietly cheering for our Region 1AAAAA brothers from Coffee.

I have to run Jaybo. LOL. You are welcome to come up to Atlanta for the State Championship. We should arrange a get-together for the regular posters at one of the sports bars at the CNN Center beside the Georgia Dome or at Stats near the Dome. You can tell me all about how TCC is better than Northside (we all know better - Camden might have scored 80 points on TCC last night, Westside scored 51). LOL!

Lowndes folks,

Just wanted to throw a few numbers at you. Going back and looking at all your wins for the season got me thinking about our defense even more. I would like nothing more then your team to come to Grayson and underestimate our team. You had several games were you only won but 7-14 points:

Ptree ridge/ 15 points Tift/ 14 points Valdosta/ 7 points Warner Robins and NSWR not to far either.

With that being said, I still dont think you have seen a Defense like ours! Yes, I have not been to see these teams play in person, but you can find a large amount of footage on the internet to make an educated guess. This is my call on the game:

Lowndes 14 Grayson 10

Should be the best game your team and ours has seen all year. Dont forget, with a game like this, anything can happen. keep underestimating us! I Only hope the Lowndes coaches do the same.

North Gwinnett over Newnan Ptree ridge over Coffee Camden over Woodstock, because they have no idea how it is down there. Will be a great lesson for them to take into next year as did Grayson.

GO RAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, girls’ basketball is pretty good around Warner Robins. It is still the fall competition season in Warner Robins. Basketball is a winter sport.

You are talking about Northside HS, not Camden County or Thomas County Central. If you go on to the GHSA website, you will see that high schools compete for state championships in other sports and activities.

The fall inclues Literary, One Act, and Forensics (Debate). Northside has more State Championships in Literary than any school in Georgia. 21 State Championships in 40 years, baby! http://www.ghsa.net/index.php?q=node/187. Northside also has 14 State Championships in One Act and 13 State Championships in Forensics.

The championships always keep rolling at Northside. Hats off to Camden for stopping the title train in football. Truth be told, I am not so sure that we were strong enough offensively to top Camden or Lowndes. Newnan is sitting out there. The cards are not always going to fall for us.

We are very proud of this group of players. Go Eagles!

I will see you guys later. I have a championship soccer game to go an watch for a 10 year old, who takes priority. Have fun and good luck to you all. I look forward to seeing how the rest of the state playoffs pan out. It will be fun (it would have be more fun with our Eagles. Oh well…not this year).

Hey Jaybo, Just for information purposes, the person that identifies himself as NSH Fan is not me. NSWR will pretty much be like TCC were this year. They will start out being in AJC’s top ten in 5A based on the their 2008 finish, which will be wrong. With a little luck NSWR may make the play-off which I doubt. We have had a good 3 year run but come next year it will not be called reloading. It will be a new start. We lose our entire offense starters except for a guard and a wide receiver. Defensively we bring back 2 DB’s, 1 LB, 1 DE, 1 IL. So a lot of work needs to take place. Say a prayer for us as I did for TCC.

The Camden/NSWR game was the best game I’ve seen since we played Brookwood in the dome in 02 in the semi-finals.

Both teams fought hard and it was great to watch. That Bacon kid is something else! Where is he going to college? I’m sure he’s sure being looked at! Camden could not stop that man. I saw him run over many decent size LB’s. Great game!! Northside fans were great also. I sit on the visitor side usually. So I was there last night and I never heard one bad remark from any of ya’ll.
That is what football is all about. What about that 71 yard touchdown pass?!!!!

Camdenwildcat…….And all Camden fans, even with a Northside loss ,great game last night!….Xavier Bacon AAAAA player of the year!…I just got back….Got a new found respect for your Camden program……Weak Region yes,but it didn’t seem to matter…..Northside ran away with the game in the 3rd qrt with 20 unanswered,I really thought we had it in the bag kid,Camden looked beat….Got to give it up to Herron and staff ,they called the best 4th qrt ,out coaching Nix and staff, and in the 4th your kids stepped up on defense , and on offense executed their blocking assignments very well, trapping our interior line and your T.E single handedly took Eric Fields out of the 4th freeing up Baker…..Greg Baker is a tough kid ,he and Bacon stole the show last night….Good luck next week……HURRICANECAMDEN….Here kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty ,lol….Thats what Northside folks do during the game, talk smack…..It’s part of the game plan…If anyone seats their folks on the visitor side next to a large contingent of Eagle fans ,they will get abused… but any Camden fan on the visitor side will tell you after the game most NS fans gave Camden their due….Camden fans need to thicken their skin,it was obvious that they were never in a position of seeing their team having to come from behind to win….most just sat and took the abuse looking wide eyed and biteing their nails, only 2 or 3 fought back….Lowndes folks fought toe to toe all night(even to our cars) ,and they were scattered amongst us…..Congrats to my Eagles! .. clearly not the best offense this decade from Green St. ,but as a team showed tremendous heart.

And those that was there you know who I am. After the game they was standing numb and it wasn’t because of the cold. I had to blow my air horn to wake them up. Their mighty chickens had fallen to a soft schedule playing team. Oh trust I sit on visitors side because I am damn good at trash talking. I had tift county and grayson fans wanting to fight. Reeze: I may stand corrected, if this happened during the game then it has nothing to do with being “thick skinned”, your fans should have shown better class. Taunting kids on the field is nothing to be proud of and it has nothing to do with the game. The sign of a true champion and sportsman is to cheer for your team but never to insult or belittle the other team. For you to say that “talking smack is part of the game” shows you probably never played at a high level. I’m proud the Camden fans didn’t respond to your pathetic kitty kitty remark. Having said that I’m still inpressed with the fans I met and how hard your team played. Go Cats!

Congratulation to Newnan, Yall have earned every bit of my respect and I am extremly looking forward to go the the dome and possibly watching yall and Lowndes!! Yall have a great football team with a awesome defense and have earned a lot of respect now, All together Newnan and Tift were about the same kind of Football team, Tift just made a lot of mistakes and bad play calling (like all the passing in the first half)but Newnan was faster and bigger and I look forward in seeing yall in the dome, If you make it past North Gwinnett good luck against Camden because NSWR was actually our toughest opponent this year with their strength and size and Camden beat them, and also yall should know that yall just gave Tift County its first shutout since August 27, 2004. And to Tift County, It was fun and I enjoyed this year and can’t wait for next even though we have 18 starters that are seniors and are Graduating. Good luck to Coffee and Lowndes!!!

Thoughts and observations while still trying to thaw out from a COLD, COLD night

Camden vs. Northside turned out to be the game that we all expected it to be. With the exception of a few crazy posts out there, I think that everyone here knew this was going to be the game that we all thought had instant classic written all over it. Congrats to coach Herron and the boys down on the coast, and I don’t think anyone in Warner Robins has anything to apologize for after a first season back in AAAAA that featured losses to Camden and Lowndes. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Northside ranked in the top 4 in the final poll.

Region 1AAAAA

Friday night’s results validates Todd’s earlier column that the region is hands down the best in the state, but not as dominating as some unrealistic region supporters would like you to believe. Again, it isn’t that the region isn’t the best in the state (or the nation for that matter), it’s just that the other top teams in other regions are just as good, but their regions aren’t as deep.

Woodstock

Outstanding. Just outstanding.

Jaybo and ENR

If you don’t understand Jaybo’s frustration and need to vent, you haven’t been reading these blogs all year. The Germans have a word for it called schadenfraude (sic) that means taking pleasure from others’ pain. (Gotta hand it to the country that brought us the holocaust) Myself, I take no pleasure for ENR’s pain. OK, maybe a little, but only because I picked 100 percent on Northside games this year.

Speaking of picks, perfect on AAAAA and I personally only missed Marist winning over Sequoyah.

Chris Whitfeld Congratulations on a right on pick. Grayson took away the running game, pressured our quarterback, and pretty much took away our offense. Yes we made some crucal mistakes, we did allow a drive to contnue after an offsides call in the first quarter. That happened early in the game. East had plenty of time to recover and never did. To their credit, Grayson ontrolled the game. I heard you on South 107 last night. Good job. I am very proud of the EAST players and coaches! What a great season. I hope the coaching staff stays in tact. East has a bounty of young guys on the way. Jaybo you probably won’t read anything from me until next year. I am not running and hiding, I don’t know enough about the other teams to write intelligently about them. I will read and enjoy others. Oh and by the way, I am not Homet. Homet Thanks for the fun! You make the season longer. I guess you could start another count countdown, albeit a mighty long one, I am already looking forward till next year. God Bless and keep all of you.

Point is some of the fans were rude. And the last fans that said here kitty kitty besides you guys left as losers as well.(Hoover) I respect your early comment that nobody was bringing the wood to camden and that if bacon and the boys did not bring their A game than they will be home watching other games on tv. I thought that showed you had some class. You kept it real. I did not include you in the rude fans. But if you were apart of the taunting our boys as they warmed up than BOOO to you.

To Vikings Rule, you are right, Newnan hasn’t won anything. As you know being second fiddle to Valdosta all these years ,you have to earn your respect. I won’t demean our present team by bringing up the shortcomings of the past. These young men will take each game at a time and will look past no one. If we are lucky enough to get to the dome , hopefully Lowndes will be there so we can shut you up til next season.

mistermak…I’m not the know all end all, but I believe since Camden and Newnan are both # 1 seeds, there would be a coin flip. According to GHSA rules the home team in Semi-final games have to have a seating capacity of 6000. Newnan falls just sort of that per GHSA rules. However, there is a provision in the rules which allow for temporary seating. First things first, Newnan has to battle a tough N. Gwinnett team. Don’t want to get ahead of ourselves.

Brookwood Mom, I was sitting on the 40, about 10 rows from the top, shivering and not moving the entire game. Toes were too frozen to move. Too bad we didn’t spot each other.

Lowndes folks, Region 1 doesn’t seem to be all that it is cracked up to be. Region 7, in Gwinnett County, has two teams in the quarters just like Region 1.

Now a little analysis. Lowndes beat Warner Robins 35-14 this year. Grayson went down to Warner Robins and beat the 30-0. I know, your JV was playing when Warner Robins scored their TD’s. If you look at points per game this year, our defenses are about even, 8 points a game. Your team does score more. So it shouldn’t be the butt whipping you all think it will be. Someone from Grayson suggested 14-10 Lowndes. I think it will be 14-10 Grayson. Should be cold and wet. Hope ya’ll can handle that.

I hate to think it but you might be right about the band dad thing. Don’t know how that got started but it is what it is. Ran the sound boards for a rock band in my long hair days and that is my only association with a bad whatsoever and that was many, many years ago.

Will probably see Hoyadawg tonight at a get together to watch Cincinnati - Pittsburg and T. Tech - Oklahoma games.

As far as next year goes, Hoyadawg and I both have seniors who finished their high school careers last night so I doubt I will be on much. Now it is on to college ball. Take care. It has been fun!

Grayson fans- Should I have to remind you of the VIKINGS over REGION 7&8 over the last few year. Before you climb to the states elite, just ask Parkview, Brookwood, North Gwinnet, and Peachtree Ridge about the Lowndes Vikings. Just because you have had one great year since moving to AAAAA does not mean you are ready for the BIG DAWGS.

By Yo

Jeff I’m saying 35-7 Lowndes wins. Give you 7 in the 4th quarter. Regarding cold and wet please go back and review state championship game of last year. I believe that qualifies as wet and last night was a lot colder than this Friday should be. 300 yards rushing….count em! How many fans does your stadium hold? Also, Region 7 just didn’t get through playing 2 of the top 5 teams in the state last night. Maybe thats why there are 2 left. To those who think 1AAAAA thinks we are the 7 best teams in the state….get real. Still, we are by far the most dominate region (and it ain’t clost) to any other region out there. Any region out there take your top 7 and match them up against 1AAAAA top seed on top seed, etc. Here is to you maybe getting a win, if and only if your top seed is better than Lowndes.

By Benjamin T McLeod

“Should be cold and wet. Hope ya’ll can handle that.” You must have muissed Lowndes vs North Gwinnett in the Championship Game last year, the Vikings won by 28. The Rams should pray its dry and a little warmer, so you don’t have to make any excuses like the Bulldogs did last year. You may need to bring in a horde of locust and some other catastrophe to stop this Viking offense. Its a blessing in Disguise that the Vikings lost this coin toss, at least now no one can say Lowndes couldn’t win if they had to play on the road.

Hey, In my defence, I posted at 8:00 this morning and I just looked, and my post is not here, anyway,I said congratulations to PR. I have said all year that you are the best team we played all year, and I reallt believe it now. The best D we have seen in two years, and yes that does include Lowndes. We did’nt take advantage of a few oppertunities, and when we finally got the mo, yall took it back quickly. Great team, and really great D. I would say the best D in the state. I hav’nt seen Lowndes this year, but most others. My pick for state champs is Newnan, PR, or Grayson. I still say no south ga team will make the final. We shall see.AS always though, Lowndes is still the champs, until somebody beats them.

Sanity Rules All I will say is that if I came off disrespectful I do apologize. That’s not what I’m about. Looks like we both just love our teams. I never said that Newnan wasn’t good, or that they didn’t deserve to be here. I was just stating that I just don’t think Newnan can beat Lowndes in four quarters of football. Lowndes has too many weapons to contend with. Too much speed on defense for Newnan. If by some chance we do meet in the dome you will really see that your beloved Newnan isn’t all that you think. But for now we will just concentrate on Grayson since someone seems to think that Lowndes hasn’t faced a defense like theirs b4.

Northside had a great defense Lowndes dominated them in the Second half of that game. They defeated Tift in a game where Lowndes Lost 5 turnovers in that game, how many teams you know of that could have done that? Then dominated Coffee, which eliminated a North Ga No 1 seed in the first round i do believe. My Prediction is* this text will be bolded* Lowndes 35 Grayson 13

When did I ever say we won. It was a mere statement of defending my school. You said Grayson had 1 good year, which was false. In all reality Grayson would have to play a picture perfect game to win and thats possible but realize how young we are. BUT dont count us out as a looong shot because we are at home and we have a great D (not saying the best yall have played) and a great ground game. My early thoughts on this blog for the week is I am greatly outnumbered and misunderstood. Will Lowndes win… I hope not and pray for a miracle, but is it likely? Yes. You guys think that us at Grayson disrespect you… on the contrary we feel honored that we can even host a team of your caliber being nationally ranked.

Newnan vs N. Gwinnett. NG features one of the top qb in GA. I think Boise St got a steal with him also that #2 the running back is highly underated. Their Coaching staff was one of the best I have ever seen last year. I was really impressed with them last year and I expect a big crowd from Suwanee this week it should be interesting.

I was disgusted with the play of P-Ridge and Harrison. I cannot believe people were impressed with the defensive play of both teams. Both offenses were horrible. If either one of these teams were in another bracket they would have been eliminated in the second round. However, they got lucky with their draw in the brackets and they are now playing a bad group of teams.

By wildmanhoya

Both offenses were horrible

Disgusted fan, have you seen either team play all year before last night? I cannot speak for P.Ridge’s offense as we only saw them once before in the first game yet I can tell you the harrison offense was not terrible all year. Has it ever crossed your mind that a good defense can make even the best offense look bad? As they say, offense sells tickets yet defense wins championships. To take this to another sport, the saying is good pitching (defense) will stop good hitting (offense) every time.

Brookwoodmom,

I was in the reserved area. I did look up for you a few times, but I was looking for a maroon jacket. I did see one standing next to some one in a yellow jacket, was that you? If it was, I’ll kick my own butt for not having the nerve to ask you.

LilVikingsfootball,

That motel in Loganville is very small, I would book now. I will say its the only one near Grayson high school, that includes Grayson. Its around the corner. If you get a room there, you will be one of the lucky ones. Loganville has everything you need with a small town feel.

To ALL Lowndes folks,

Yes Grayson is very proud to be hosting a team like yours. We were discussing how many people will come from the surrounding counties just to see you all play. It will be a sale out for sure. We are very proud, and hope you all feel very welcomed! The coin toss was a huge deal for Grayson. We don’t have to spend the money to travel, the time away and accommodation’s, our athletic dept will make tons of money, our boys can have thanksgiving dinner and a full practice on Thursday, sleep in on Friday, and the attention Grayson will get for having you guys here, its all amazing to most of us.

I really feel bad for Woodstock having to travel on Thanksgiving, and I really feel for you guys too. Im not sure what all those boys your bringing will eat Thursday, but if we have enough room, we would have them all right here. Good luck and be safe.

By the way, what is the plan for the players and coaches? You don’t have to advertise were your staying, just wonder how all that will pan out being the holidays.

I agree. As the regular season was winding down I remember posting to some of the NSWR guys that our record had handed them Camden. Then to the Tift guys that they had drawn the Newnan bracket. Things actually worked out for the best for Coffee. Hopefully, (for Coffee), enough confidence has been gained to carry the Trojans on down the playoff road.

Not too worried about Kick returns Newnan’s Kicker is a good one very few returns I think Tift only had one and he had to catch it in the endzone.. the special teams may have been the biggest advantage Newnan had goin in to that game The Ogletree Boys #33 and #39 are always blocking a punt/FG. So much for those “experts” who said Pepperell has not played anyone and would be out in the first round; with a combined score of 78-30 against two playoff opponents, the Dragons are back in the hunt. If they beat Fitzgerald, they will likely get a crack at Buford (if Buford beats Dublin, a big “if” in my book). Since it is a home game, then I think Pepperell will make the final four. Then I need the so-called “experts” to humbly beg my forgiveness.

oh boy

To say Westside has a good team is pretty accurate; however, to say they played in a weak region is very debatable. What is the basis for your weak region comment…the fact that they are the only member from their region still playing? If so, I don’t think that is a good reason…see all the talk about Camden and note the results of their game Friday against NSWR…similar situation here I think. I can appreciate your willingness to pick Tucker…however just make sure you are at the Complex Friday night to see how a team that plays in a weak region plays football.

rw

Tucker’s defense maybe quality (I don’t know how a quality defense gives up 38 points to anyone, but I will take your word that they are “quality”) …I would venture to say they have not face an offense as balance and polished as Westside’s offense. Smashmouth football… is Tucker built on hitting the other team in the mouth or speed? I thought it was speed. Just know this, why you are harping on Tucker’s defense, their offense better be able to put some points on the board against Westside’s defense. With that said, just make sure you are at the Complex Friday night to see what Westside can do against a “quality” defense…by the way, make sure Tucker brings their offense with them.

WACO-FAN

Good analysis of Westside. Those seniors (and juniors) are battle tested and most of them have started since their 10th (9th for juniors) grade years. You are correct that they got tested a great deal being in the region with NSWR and Baldwin for the last 2 years (loosing to NSWR last year by 10 points).

JAYBO

Continue to speak that “real talk”. I know you have seen Westside play this year.

To all Tucker fans

I look forward to seeing a good game on Friday. I hope your team is healthy and ready to play. Trust me, Westside is ready to go. I will say, unless you expect to sit on the Westside side of the stadium, you better get there early if your team travels well…as the visitor’s side of the stadium is not too big.

Good luck to both Westside and Tucker! May the best team win.

It should be a good game with Westside and Tucker. I hope Tucker’s offense is as explosive as I saw it in the first half of last year’s game with NSWR in the Dome. If so, they will really challenge Westside’s defense. As for Tucker’s defense, they are certainly going to get challenged by Westside’s offense…they can run it and pass it.

I have been anticipating this one since the pairings came out.

Peachtree Ridge, I have been promoting you all year, and I will now continue. I really believed the winner of the Ridge / Harrison game , would go to the semis. You are my team, from hear on out. A few reasons, One, You are a good team, with a great D. Two, your team plays with more class than any we have faced. ( this is according to several of our players). Three, your gate, concessions, and other people around the school, are very welcoming, and fourth, it’s time to show region 1, that they are not all that. HSballfan……Not just Tucker ,If anyone beats Westside ill be very surprised…..Tucker’s team may be solid, but if Tuckers pass defense hasn’t improve since last season Mcfadden and Madison will have a field day….they’ve just got the total package ,A athletic QB who’s runs like a RB and is a accurate passer,Madison and 2 other wideouts who can fly and catch the ball,Robert Brown their back is a slower version of your Jonathan Davis and Full back Marcus Wilson has breakaway speed or can flat run right over a defender…To top it off their Defense has Book end D.E’s who are quick ,and LB Burnett…..Westside’s defense reminds me a little of your Tucker 2007 Defense…..Good Luck ,if you guys pull this one off you’ll win state……since my Eagles are home for the Holidays ill be there with you in Macon Friday….We can hook up and watch the game…..let me know we’ll work something out

Ask Hillgrove and Whitewater how explosive Tucker’s offense can be. And check with Hillgrove’s QB about the Tucker defense. We heard a lot of things about how special Sinjin Days is… he had his helmet in the dirt so often, by the time the second quarter started he looked like he was afraid of his own shadow, and the team became completely demoralized. Tucker hit them for five TD’s in the second quarter. I’m sure the Westside game will be a real gut check for both teams. Julian Burnett and Jonathan Davis may be the two best linebackers in Georgia. They’ll need their friends to step it up a notch, too.

Get ready for another south georgia invasion deep in the heart of Atlanta, but on aAAA level.

Hey South Georgia fans? Do you claim LaGrange? I guess if it is south of 285 it is south Georgia now, lol.

Anxious to see who Chris picks to win this one!!!! Can I get an early prediction Chris??

There are three games that already have me going back and forth on who to pick - Tucker vs. Westside, LaGrange vs. Dunwoody and Fitzgerald at Pepperell. There are very few easy picks, but these three have me especially torn. That’s all you are getting from me until you are in a turkey coma on Thursday afternoon.

GR24 didn’t Harrison beat Lowndes last year? Why don’t they have your respect?

Bear Fan 1 , build an addition to your school and come back up to AAAAA and play some real football. We loved heading down 16,eating some bear meat then heading back to Newnan. We miss whipping that tail. Good luck the rest of the playoffs.

Chris Whitfield—If LaGrange isnt south Georgia, then why did GHSA keep putting us in that region for the playoffs when there were north and south ga championship games? Thats like people claim Newnan as METRO ATLANTA, when its 30 miles north of LaGrange

By Chris Whitfield

SGT CHRIS I’m just wondering why it is always north vs. south when middle Georgia should petition to be their own area. LaGrange, Westside, Wilkinson County, Baldwin, Dublin and a few others along the gnat line need to get away from North and South. It’s all about the middle, baby! lol

to all Tucker, SWD, Marist fans

You guys have a strong region, but none of you can hang with Westside. They are hands down the class of 4A. There’s only a handful of teams in 5A that could take this team out. BTW they don’t play in a weak region, Their dominance just made it look weak.

I don’t think you’d get an argument about Westside richly deserving that top ranking. The question is: how MUCH better are they than anyone else? We could debate that “dominance” and “weak region” argument. Fact is, nobody else from 1AAAA got past the first round. It remains to be seen how Westside might react if they find they can’t push Tucker around; how might frustration lead to loss of confidence? That’s something Westside hasn’t had to deal with this season. Too many times we’ve seen talented teams come apart because they grew complacent whipping mayonnaise for 12 weeks, and couldn’t step up when they had to. If Westside is all we’ve heard, I’ll enjoy watching some quality football and wish them well on their way to the dome. But don’t make the mistake of writing off Tucker. I remember hearing how invincible Northside was last year, and our guys put a nice little scare into them as I recall.

To Harrison fans:

While I was at the game, I often heard a noise coming from your side of the field that sounded halfway between a goose and a bullhorn. Is that some kind of noisemaker that your fans have or what?

Also: what is a hoya? I looked it up on wikipedia, which listed both a type of flower and an edible sea squirt, which I doubt would be any team’s mascot.

HoyaDog I am so sorry Lowndes will be causing you to not attend the dome this year. Just consider it the fact that we owe you one. :-) We are getting our eraser out as we speak to take care of your little penciling in. Actually I would enjoy another little Peachtree Ridge rematch except it might mean the possibility of 3 straight weeks of traveling to Atlanta. Something kind of screwy about that scenario…don’t you think? So, besides the fact Coffee is a 1AAAAA brother here is to a little upset of the Lions so we can invite Coffee to Martin Stadium and make it only 2 weeks of traveling to Atlanta.

Sanity rules You mean this is the best Georgia team “Newnan” you ever seen I mean a few of these posts suggest Lowndes,Valdosta, warner robbins surely the best team in Thirty years would reside in 4AAAAA as compared to 1AAAAA what can you give me to back this up? I agree this is the best defense I have ever seen from Newnan probably the best passing since 92 the best running since 81 but the best team ever? you gotta sell that well!!!

Offensively for Lowndes last week. Robert Anderson - 4 touchdowns. Franklin - 1 touchdown pass. Reid 7 rushes for 95 yards and 1 touch down. Demps 6 carries for 91 yards and 1 touchdown. Hunter 3 carries for 69 yards caught a 21 yard touchdown pass and was 2-4 passing for 47 yards and a touchdown. First half offense was 277 rushing yards and total offensive yardage for first half was 298. All of this against what SportsFan31313 says was a very good Bradwell defense. I’ll take his word for it that is was. I am also taking Grayson’s word for it that they too have a very good defense. According to them the best we will have ever faced. Now that is a pretty tall statement considering we have already played Peachtree Ridge, Northside and SportsFan31313’s (LOL) defenses.

But do not think the Wildcats are underestimating you, they are not its just a talent thing, your quarterback is good (#7) but he is no Bacon of NS. Team speed, but congrats on your two victories. Reality check this week. Good Luck. Be sure we are taking you guys serious, just like we would if you were the likes of Lowndes or NS.

`To my friend inthatrenches ,this is by far the best Newnan team I have ever seen. The ‘92 team wasn’t a passing team and the ‘81 team was a one dimensional running team. I can’t compare them to past champions until they win something. I’ve seen state champions from different regions and we will see if they belong. But if things go as planned, we can have this discussion after the dome game.

To inthatrenches, yes most of our players are back from last year as they were mostly sophomores and juniors . Our quarterback has a basketball background(starting point guard) so his dedication to football has helped his growth as quarterback. It is unusual for a whole defensive team to improve as they did but remember we were one game away from the dome last year. Don’t know your location but come on down to Newnan Friday and enjoy some good hard-nosed football.

Grayson stadium is half the size of Camdens, so you can go by that. what you see in the senior picture is a small portion of the visitor side. Technically it seats 6,000. coach Conn’s father owns a stadium company, im sure he will bring in more temporary seating. You have to remember this school is fairly new, im sure the money we will make from this weekends game will help out a lot, maybe we can even keep the temp seating. Gwinnett County has 12 high schools, they only pay for the minimal seating when a school is opened. the seating on the home side was purchased by the school only a few years after the program started. Like I said before, win or lose, winnng the coin toss will help this school in many ways. So thanks

Congratulations to the Camden County Wildcats Just for the record I haven’t been dodging anyone due to our loss. It was after 2 o’clock in the morning when I got home from the game, and I didn’t turn my computer on until a few minutes ago. Remember, I’m an old man and need my rest. (lol) While I was disappointed with the outcome of the game, I don’t think either team would have cause for shame, no matter who won. Both had their high points, and both had their “let down” moments. Overall, this was a GREAT game, and I’m certainly glad I was there to witness it. I saw Coach Nix at lunch just a short time ago, and he basically shared those sentiments. To Coach Nix, his assistants, and all of the players, I say “thanks” for a great season. I think you proved to everyone that you can play in AAAAA. Good luck to Camden, but I still think Lowndes will win another title. No disrepect to anyone, but in my mind, they are the best TEAM we played all year.

You make some excellent points. Westside hasn’t had a close game and it is possible that if the game is tight they may lose some of their confidence, but Coach Robert Davis is one of the best ever and I believe he will have this team ready to respond to adversity if need be. This is not to say that Tucker isn’t a fine team and capable of winning. I know they have several Div. 1 college prospects on their team and they are battle tested. I just believe Westside wins by 2TD’S. I may be wrong, but, unlike college, this game will be settled on the field, where it should be.

AVikingFan Hope your Vikings continue to carry the 1-AAAAA banner to another title. They deserve their ranking. As I’ve said before, I am proud of how far our Eagles progressed this year, with what was basically a whole new offense. Unlike Marques Ivory, Joe Scott lacked the mobility to be a real running threat. That put the bulk of the offensive load on the back of Xavier Bacon. I dread to think where we would have been without Bacon (he transferred to Northside for his senior year, while his step-father served in Iraq). We have some good talent returning, as well as incoming. Hopefully next year will also be successful as well. At least we won’t have to travel to the “concrete palace”. (lol)

To Todd or anyone who knows what the seating capacity has to be to host a semi-final round game. If Camden and Newnan both win will there be a coin flip or does Newnan have enough seats to host the game. Camden does have enough seats. I will check with the GHSA to find out the rule. Thanks. Go Cats!

To Robert you can use add on seats this year. That was a stupid pro Gwinnett County rule anyway. But if newnan and camden wins a coin toss will decide who host. Also Cuga Nation + Swagg Nation lets come together for this domination. Just a little rhyme for ya. Enjoy this success and lets take it one game at a time.

Hsballfan,

Hey, I hope Tucker does give Westside a game…heck I’m even pulling for Tucker!!!! The great Robert Davis kinda tore his azz w/me the way he continued to press the gas on my boys(TCC) when the game was well over…but I am a lil iffy with myself for feeling that way b/c I do think that its up to the losing team to stop the avalanche if you don’t like it!! Again though, we were just overmatched in that game..they were stronger, faster, bigger, taller and simply more talented! I’m sure that Tucker is more athletic and faster than TCC this year…they better be if they’re gonna have a chance against these boys!!! Oh, I did notice they were also very cocky…so If Tucker hits them back in the mouth, they may get confused…I woudn’t count on it…but your’re right ballfan, you gotta THINK you got a chance or you might as well not even show up!!!

HOMET,

Hey, I would love to meet you up at the Lowndes-Grayson game, but I will be visiting family for Thanksgiving up in Calhoun. That will be a good game to see…you will get the chance to witness how strong Lowndes really is!!! But I will be at the wife’s alma mater Calhoun-Toombs Co. game on Friday…you know she won’t let me wiggle out of going to that game…LOL!!!

One thing is for certain, based on what I saw when I went down there, you guys will probably have more fans there than them!! It just blew me away how the #1 team in the state at 8-0 at the time, had only about 250 fans(at home) at the region championship game a few weeks ago!! TCC had a couple thousand folks drive up about 2 1/2 hrs from Thomasville!! Boy those kids from Westside deserve way better community support than that….Its really sad, as I have never seen anything like that before in my life!!!

Lowndes folks, there are plenty of hotels on US 78 between Snellville and Loganville, all within 10 minutes of the Grayson Community Stadium. Do your hotel search for Snellville and you should be good to go. As for seating, the stadium holds 6000, so if we leave all our fans at home, you can all fit in the stadium. There should be plenty of parking, as I’ve been going to Grayson games for 4 years now and never seen the parking lot full.

The weather is supposed to be 60% rain and mid 40’s, so not too cold. And why did the weather matter last year in the championship game? Isn’t that played indoors?

Is Lowndes going to be streaming the game back to Valdosta so the locals down there can watch it or listen to it online?

Good luck to both teams.

There has been alot of smack from so called lowndes fans. But i hope Lowndes County will remember the pouring rain the first game last year when we got beat by much less talented team. I was miserable because i was soaking wet and lowndes county coudn’t hold on to the football.I t was a 9 point ballgame that we should have never lost .But it was an eye opener to lowndes players. Everytime you cough up the ball you give the other team an adrenaline rush. I and sports writers acroos the country think Lowndes is a national power however each team plays 11 at a time and a team pumped up with adrenaline csn do great feats. The more you be little your opponent the harder he will play. Valdosta didn’t have a half a team but they played us tooth and nail because of pride.Northside WR bluechip linbacker spewed off in the AJC and he lasted a whole 5 plays in the Lowndes game. Don’t badger Grayson because that oblong ball hops funny!
