Vike 69

You are right about the Vikes being motivated. Not only a 1AAAAA ring but also #1 seed. IF Coffee wins and IF the score is just so…Lowndes could be #2 seed. Since #2 seed most likely plays Camden in 1st round. Now there is some more incentive for your Vikes.

Funny thing is…IF Coffee wins, the Trojans could be #2 and face Camden.

Would it be such a bad thing if Coffee winds up with #3 seed and gets first dibs on some of the North Georgia folks?

It seems that Coffee sort of wins no matter what the score.

The playoff system is indeed a strange beast.

I will be anxiously awaiting some of those scores as well. Should be a pretty intense game tonight for me over at Kennesaw Mountain as McEachern travels over with the fourth spot in Region 5-AAAAA on the line. Should be a lot of good blogging going on throughout the night, and I can’t wait to see how all of this shakes out. See ya later tonight and everyone be safe out there.

North Paulding and Allatoona, 2 new high schools battle for the County Line bucket in their 2nd rematch of the season. We breifly took the lead late in the fourth on a TD and then a squib kick recovery..but again the deficit of our ineptness to kick an extra points gave the game back to Wilcox as we lost 21-20 in a THRILLING last minute game…boy these two teams waited to the end before they decided to play!!

The Lowndes defense holds Coffee to under 100 total yards( 83 yards I think) and the Vike O-Line opens holes for over 300 total yards. That’s domination. Congrats to the Plowboys and Coach McPherson… 5 region titles in his 7 years as head coach. Do I smell 4 State Championships in 5 years?

Yes, it’s true Trojan sports fan.. there is a covert conspiracy in Valdosta to hurt all the best players on opposing teams. Lowndes only wins games because one person from each team gets hurt each game.

Hey Chris,

Somebody else has my blog name Jaybo….how did that happen??

Now to the Westside-Tcc game: First off, I must say that I have never seen a home team that is #1 in the state with so few fans in the home stands!!! Now I know why there havent been any Westside blogers this season. They have no fans. TCC had 5 times the number of people who drove up from Thomas county than Westside did. Somebody familiar with the situation down there in Macon, please help me understand whats going on with that. Why don’t Westside have any fans. When I got to the game about 20min before kickoff I was thinking that maybe they had a late arriving crowd, but the late arrivals never showed up. Again, I was blown away wondering a school as big is this and who is 8-0 and #1 in AAAA and they have maybe 175 in their homestands that seats maybe 4000 on that side. Somebody from Macon help me????

Now to the game

The score was 51-0 Westside!! Let me tell all, Westside will win the state in AAAA this year!!! Listen guys, this team will give Lowndes a run…for real!!! There is one thing I know and that is the game of football and what I saw the night is one of the most complete teams I have ever seen regardless of classification!!!! Listen, TCC is not a bad football team, not great, but not bad and Westside just dominated us on both sides of the ball. They made us look like a recreation football teams and I’m not lying!!! Let me tell you that defense is the truth…11 athletes with about 8 of them standing atleast 6’1 or 6’2 on average and they all are fast as hell….wow can they fly to the football. TCC didn’t come close to scoring tonight!!! Then their QB is a magician who can throw with great accuracy to a plethra of wide recievers. Bottom line, Westside is a complete team…they are the real deal and will win the championship in AAAA.

TCC has to regroup and get ready for former head coach Ed Pilcher and Bainbridge next week. I’ll be the first to say we got our azz handed to us tonight by a more physical, stronger, faster and plain and simple better football team tonight. What I saw tonight, Marist, Tucker, Statesboro or nobody else will be able to stop this train of a team in Westside…period!!!

hey trjojandude, Im glad to see that you have class my friend. I was waiting to see what you would have to say after the PLOWBOYS won 1AAAAA again. You should rub off on some of these other Coffee fans that cannot simply accept that you were beaten by a better team on your field. My hats off to you for losing with pride and dignity. Harrison 21 - Marietta 14

Marietta’s announcer gets the award for Homer of the year. It is one thing to root on the home team but to use the micropohone to alert the home team that the clock is running late in the game and Marietta is running out of time is inexcusable.

To Trojansportsfan Don’t even start whinning about how unfair the game was and making other ridiculous excuses. If Coffee’s winning depends on one player, then it’s a sad day in Trojan football. Players get hurt; that’s the nature of the game. In the Lowndes vs Peachtree Ridge game Greg Reid got hurt and sat out most of the 2nd quarter, but Lowndes still prevail. Just give Lowndes their props and admit that you got beaten by the BETTER team. True Champions rise to the occasion even in the face of adversity.

Well I am also a trojan fan and will be till the end. We did loose to a much better team tonight. Bad calls, missed calls, what ever you want to call it is still a part of football, sometimes it works in your favor, sometimes it doesnt. Untill Coffee has the same resorces as a team like Lowndes then we will never be able to play on that level.

Everyone knew that Coffe would probably loose tonight, but we met at mid feild non the less, just as we will the next time we play Lowndes.

1 5A fan , what in the hell are you saying…bad calls, no calls..resources. You have a very good football team over there and have nothing to explain. People just do not realize just how good this Lowndes team is. I have played and watched high school football in this state for 28 years now and I can honestly say at any level that this LHS team is probably one of the best I’ve ever seen.

Yes we do have a good team and I do suport them all the way. The only thing I was saying is we played a better team tonight, thats all. What I ment by having the resources is depth. We are a smaller school and do not have the # of students to pick from is all. We are a great team and will be for a long time to come. And what I was saying by missed calls and bad calls is you cant let that be the reason you say you lost a game, its all part of the game.

BT won again.. shutting down and shutting out Decatur. Westminster got whooped by Buford. So i expect a good ranking for BT this week, theres finally a spot for the Titans (or whatever Todd’s excuse was) .. the rest of the games ended up like i expected, well all but the Roswell-Walton game (ouch) and that Banneker-Alexander game (kinda let down by them this season, they never really have expectations but they were over-achieving and its evident now. kinda needed them for a bet, but whatever) .. Sooo heres my rankings for AA because they’re the “hardest” to rank according to Mr. Holcomb. Todd, read and study this, you might learn something ;-).

1.) Buford 2.) Pepperell 3.) McIntosh 4.) Fitzgerald 5.) Calloway 6.) Brooks County 7.) Henry County 8.) Appling County 9.) Charlton County 10.) Blessed Trinity

this is a well studied top ten pick, hope you can take from this Todd, ill allow it.

TrojanSportsFan….to answer your first question…“it is just you”. Lowndes was penalized 8 times to Coffee’s 4 for twice as much yardage. Good thing the reffs were on our side…huh! Lowndes 380 yards of offense..Coffee 80. Here is the fact Georgia high school fans. Lowndes has just turned the corner and cranked it up a notch (last week 45-7 halftime against HoCo). Lowndes dominated this game defensively and I am talking about a very good offensive team that just got dominated. This game could have easily been 35-0 and probably should have been. My one concern going into this game was how would Lowndes defensive line match up against Coffees big O line and 200 lb. running back. I think any thoughts of anyone running on Lowndes this year can be forgotten. This defense has finally put the final piece of the puzzle together and them boys looked good. A total of 49 points (5 pts. a game) given up in 9 games this year against very good competition. Coffee had 50 yards rushing and almost 30 yards passing for the game. Wow!

my friend chili cheese it wasn’t a second half adjustment that won yall the game it was your head coach going at a great defense and thrown everything in the playbook at it and a turnover is all it took 2 get a team that was lookn kinda beatin for almost 3qt too call a good pick rout with the wr to get the go ahead td……and our band have what 20 people we dont do band lol…….I WANT TO ADD THIS WHEN WE DID SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND WENT 2 THAT SPREAD OFFENSE WE GOT A SCORE I THING WE SHOULD HAVE RAN IT MORE BUT WE DIDNT AND WE LOST BUT YOU GOT TOO AMIT WE ARE THE ONLY TEAM TOO PUT YALL ON THE MAT BUT WE JUST COULDNT DELIVER THAT KNOCK OUT BLOW!!!!!!!!!

Good question Chris. GAC is 3-5 but thats not a true telling of their strength. they have a great offence, but a terrible special teams. 3 of their losses came out of conference to an undefeated St. Pius team, an out of state team (always a tough test) and a good Hart County team. the two innerconference games were lost to Westminster, another ranked team, and Lovett, who has been playing really solid football as of late. BT’s other loss came against Buford, which BT was up 10-7 with under a minute remaining. Buford, the awesome team they are, went 99yards to score with 34 seconds left… they play in a tough division and keep shutting down opponents. Heres a fun fact, Blessed Trinity is beating their opponents by an average of 25 points!! and in their two losses GAC won by 3 and Buford won by 4 .. next week when they destroy Westminster, they will be in te playoffs as the second seed. which means they and Buford will meet in the State Chapionship game, and i have BT winning it all against Buford 23-21 in AA.. but i digress, BT is a solid team with a lot of talent. If you dont know who Sam burkhalter is then i will edumacate you.. he is a 5’10” 210 pound running back he man.. he also runs track, the 100 yard dash is his specialty. he can run that in 10 sec flat!!! this beast puts numbers up against anybody and everbody.. in the Buford loss he had 200 yards and a touchdown.. no one else has rushed for more than 100 against them, much less 200! thats insane.. it is wise to rank them now, so they dont shock toooooo many people..

Jaybo…..Macon just isn’t a football city…the only time the home stands were ever full at the Bibb complex is when Westside had matchups with Baldwin or Northside in our old 4B-AAAA…..What you said about the Noles ,i have been saying all year……Robert Davis has put together a team for the ages, the majority are 3 year starters….I think everyone around the state has dropped the ball on this team, including Westside’s fans and supporters……Westide’s LB Juilian Burnett #40 , this kid is the best LB that ive seen in High school,Last year he had 13 solo’s against NSWR , and how the AJC didn’t put this kid on the super 11 list ill never understand …..Eric Fields and Jarvis Jones are great LB’s ,but they don’t come close to Burnett , and the same goes for Danny Madison #2 the wideout and Orin Mcfadden #13 the QB….

By Reeze

November 1, 2008 3:27 AM | Link to this

Trojan Train……I Agree with you ,Lowndes is just to good…If both Coffee and Northside had nothing for them,I don’t see anyone else…The defense attacks the ball with too much speed and intensity and Greg Reid ,the kid is just unbelieveable ,anytime he puts his hands on the ball from any spot on the field he can score….Even without Reid they’re a good team ,with him is what seperates Lowndes from everyone else and puts them on top.

Reeze,

Thanks for the info about Westside’s fans…wow I have never seen anything like that in my life. Heck, even losing teams have more fans than they did last night!!! I was like “where are the parents and family’s to this players, where are the teachers and the students??” I was also told by a friend last night that Westside have no district restrictions and players can come there from all over Bibb county…Is that true??

You are dead on about Burnett and #2. That kid is so fast from sideline to sideline it is just crazy!! I had read where many D-1 schools were shying away from him b/c of his height…well thats true he is not that tall but boy can fe get to the football and when he gets there he has a serious attitude…kid can bring the wood!!! There safties are long as heck…not real big but tall and athletic. I see why teams have not scored on this defense much all season. In fact Westside controlled the line of scrimmage all night…just dominated us!!!! They are clearly the #1 team in AAAA!

Upsonlee fan,

I don’t know about this team choking in the playoffs….that would suprise the heck out of me!!!! I have said all season that we(TCC) are an average football team. But we had improved from week to week all season and were looking like a playoff team when nobody expected it. But then this…I have never seen us so outmatched and outmaned! We were outcoached and everything. Westside has been a passing team all year but coach Davis tweakedhis offense for two straight games and started running the ball…thta was a setup to get us. TCC comes in thinking Westside is going to run the ball and what do they do…pass, pass, pass!

Yes we did beat them two years ago in the playoffs in Thomasville. Many of these same players were starters back then and boy have they grown up!!

Northide beat Warner Robins in an underwhelming game except we got to watch Conrad Nix show his no class colors as the NS coach!

After completely dominating the second half, deep in the Demons end of the field and the clock is running down he was classless!

With 32 seconds left on the clock when a when a knee on 3rd down ends the game, Nix throws for the endzone…bad enough but he did it again on 4th down too! I understand the rivalry is heated, but he needs to be sanctioned by the GHSA and the local supporters need to end his career!

He had an opportunity to teach his kids how to be classy while winning all he did was demonstrate exactly what not to do and teach his team how to be LOW CLASS!!

Conrad Nix you are an embarrassment to our town…I hope Camden Co destroys your team in the playoffs and in the last 2 minutes runs the clock out to demonstrate sportsmanship instead of how to rub someone’s face in the defeat.

To all TCC fans,

I have been involved in our program for years and last night I believe I saw the effects of the lost of coach Pilcher!! Granted coach shaver has done a masterful job in his first season. And I know we have moved on, but an Ed pilcher team never would have played this uninspired!! Our team played with no fire…i never seen any of the coaches in guys faces or nothing…Heck they were looking lost too!!! Dont get me wrong, and I am a diehard yellow jacket, but what I’m about to say will be somewhat controversial….but thats JAYBO!!

Listen, we have got to have some better athletes to put in our defensive secondary!!! The coaches job is to identify talent and I know we got better talent than that to put in our secondary. We have one kid and I will not call him out on the blog, but you TCC fans will know who I’m talking about, playing in the secondary with what looks like a neck brace under his pads looking like a linebacker…what the heck?? He is not athletic at all and cant play in space…He is good close to the line of scrimmage, but thats it! Same kid got beat for that touchdown against ware in the dome last year!!! He got beat for two touchdowns last night…he was near the ball and the receiver but was standing frozen in space!!! If we don’t get better coaching and athletes in our secondary, we will get exposed again come playoff time! Our DB’s were 10-15 yards off the receivers all night and Westside took advantage of it. Come on coaches, bring your corners up and jam the recivers and play your safties over the top and drop your linebackers in the middle. Everybody knows this defense——Tampa 2 its called!!!

Ok on a positve note, that Ray Drew #99 is a man child and will only get better. Wow, what a talent and is only a sophomore!

Anyway, I’m done venting about this game…we lost, now lets move on and beat bainbrige next week for the #2 seed in the region!

Go Jackets!!!!

Hagar, you don’t know what you are talking about Conrad Nix. It was Joe Scott who took it upon himself to throw the ball, and I’m sure that will be taken care of “in house”. Nix told Scott to run out the clock. Nix also had a long talk with Bryan Way (WR Coach) after the game, and further stated his intentions on the radio immediately after talking with Coach Way. One thing Nix will NOT do is try to show up the other team, sometime to the dismay of our fans.

Hagar, you are obviously a disgruntled Demon fan. Get over your anger. How many times has the Demons run up the score on Northside in the 70’s, 80’s and early 90s? As I said Nix was NOT doing that last night. Give the Eagles some credit, along with the Demons. Had the Demons defense not “stood tall” on a few more occasions, the score could have/should have been much worse. It was a good clean game, something we don’t always see in this rivalry.

To all the Coffee Trojan fans: Thanks for all the compliments fo the Vikings. The Trojans gave the Vikings a great game. Every team we face believe if they stop Reid that they can win, but as I have stated before, reid is not the whole team. The Vikings are just so deep in the rb’s position. The Trojans need to pick themselves up from a hard fought game and get ready for Tift Co. and the playoffs. I truly believe that the 4 semi-final teams could be Lowndes, Northside, Coffee, and TIFT.

Next Friday, at George B Maloof Stadium, the only game in the state that features two 9-0 teams will be played. Dunwoody and St. Pius are matched up for the Region 5 Championship. Currently ranked 3 and 4 in AAA, this looks to be a dynamite exchange. Both teams average over 35 per game while holding their opponents to around 15. You’re not gonna want to miss this one!

They say, that it’s the size of the fight in the dog. The Hoyas have alot of fight. We had dogs in the fight last night that Mike Vick would have been ashamed to use.The most injued one of them all took the bone 24 times. Other than the Peachtree Ridge 13-3 win. That may have been our hardest fought win of the season. Concerning Peachtree Ridge, Rank em. Have the guts to make them your first two loss team. Seven in a row, they are on a roll. Etowah, is also on a roll, rank them also. Harrison limps to Cherokee county next Week to Take on the Eagles of Etowah, for the region crown. If we win, then rank the Hoyas, if we lose, make us earn it in the playoffs. UNLEASH THE HOYAS.

Dear Santa

Please send some football teams to Region 3 this year. Watching Camden play against the Savannah teams has become a real joke this year. I thought that I had seen it all when the put up 64 points in the first half 2 weeks ago. 44 in the first quarter last night and then pulled the starters. Stopped rushing on punts after blocking yet another one for a touchdown. GHSA really needs to get involved with the Region and see if something can be done. We have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous and it will only get worse. Perhaps setting up a sub region and seeing if the Brunswick schools would like to come back to 5A along with Camden and Bradwell and letting the Region figure out the 4 teams to make the playoffs (allowable under current by-laws) would let these teams have more out of region games. I don’t know what the correct answer is, but it really is a sad state of affairs.

Congrats to Lowndes. I hope that Camden gets to face off with you in the finals. I think that it would rival the regular season game of 2003 and the semi-final game of last year…..low scoring and lots of hitting.

Congrats Northside Eagles on a victory over our Warner Robins Demons.Demons are young and small this year and still put up a heck of a fight. At halftime I know for a fact that Northside knew they were in for a dog fight as very evenly matched up to that point.Northside’s Bacon was the difference maker for sure.Without him it would have been extremely evenly matched.I’ve watched Northside numerous times this year and I believe they will have to find another gear to be successful in the playoffs though.Good luck Demons and Eagles for the remainder of the season.

Thanks DemonFootballFan. Believe me, I don’t know many Eagle fans who take the Demons lightly. Even with a quick score last night, I’m sure most of our fans knew we were in for another 48 minutes fight. I was proud of the sportsmanship shown by both teams, EXCEPT for the unsportsman like penalty on KJ Morton. He’s an outstanding player, but needs to learn to keep his mouth shut. His playing abilities should suffice. Those type penalties hurt the entire team, and he had one in our game with Lowndes. Unfortunately, our high school kids see the pros doing that on Sunday and try to emulate them. Celebrating a score is one thing, taunting after breaking up a pass or run is another. Best of luck next week. I always root for the local teams when they are not playing Northside.

I just don’t know. I don’t do the rankings, but I would argue against Jefferson County for the same reason i would argue against Blessed Trinity. Jefferson County lost to a four-loss East Laurens team that got drilled by Dublin. That loss to GAC is glaring when you look at GAC’s record. Blessed Trinity may very well be playing some of the best ball in the state right now, but that didn’t help Georgia or USC last season in the rankings.

But it is all good for debate

Mark, JHenryn, Fellow 1AAAAA fans

Thanks for allowing us Coffee bloggers to roll over gracefully. As far as some of the comments about Lowndes playing too rough. BULL. The Vikes played with intensity, skill, training and intelligence. When Lowndes was too agressive, they were flagged appropriately. There is a fine line between unsportsmanlike play and verocious intensity. Lowndes walks the line between chaos and order with a very rare ability to stay just on the side of order. Tell you the truth,,, it’s a little scary. Definetly intimidating.

I’m proud of the Trojans. The young men performed admirably. Remember the Trojans averaged over 400 yards offense against all othe 1AAAAA teams so far. Including NSWR. Not so against Lowndes.

It seems the general consesus of Coffee fans is that we ALL were impressed. Fair game. One really good team One very exceptional team.

From the East take also, a GREAT BIG Go ETOWAH…FLY HIGH EAGLES!!! Here’s the way next week should play out and we can then discuss it on Saturday…Etowah beats Harrison, East takes care of Woodstock, and McEachern beats Cherokee, Kennesaw Mtn. beats Marietta setting up Region 5A AAAAA as follows: East #1 / Etowah #2 / Harrison #3 / & Kennesaw Mtn. #4 (their 1st playoff berth in school history!)…

Of course all kind of variations can occur, I really feel strong about that #4 spot but #’s 1,2,& 3 can end up all kind of ways…the good thing at this point in the season is that NO MATTER WHAT all of our teams ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!

Now it’s time to settle in and say GO DAWGS!!! (Not Hoya’s but GEORGIA DAWGS!!) that 3:30 kick-off is getting close!!!

Trojanfan, as I have already covered on this blog, there is not a school in the state of Georgia that has lost more 1st or 2nd round home games than Camden County HS.

You can not simply go two months practicing, then be prepared to play a battle tested team like Northside. Before Wildcat posters go nuts, Camden County games are like practice in that they face limited defense and ever play works. For a matter of fact, Camden County practices are probably more competitive than their games against these Savannah area schools with 25-30 players. It is not Camden’s fault. It simply is what it is.

Jaybo, all of Middle Georgia is happy to see a non-competitive Thomas County Central program finally get a taste of what Middle Georgia football is all about. 51-0 is vintage Robert Davis. Trust me, Coach Davis (former legend at Warner Robins HS) would have hung 70 on them if he could have.

As ENR has said many, many times on this blog, Thomas County Central is grossly overrated and rarely faces stiff competition…similar to Camden County. Once TCC plays someone, we all see what happens.

As for you Jaybo, Westside is, at best, the third best program within a 25 mile radius in Middle Georgia. Again and again, Westside has been CRUSHED by Northside and Baldwin (Milledgeville). Westsie does not have strong community support like the teams from smaller communities like Baldwin and the Warner Robins schools. They have regularly been beaten.

Either way, I am very happt for Coach Davis. I know he has worked very hard to build a football environment. He has been very honest about the challenges with football in Macon. It is nice to see him back to his old Warner Robins HS trick…running up the score on team (TCC) that think they are good.

TCC fans, Northside fans know how you feel. When Northside beat Warner Robins in 1989, the Demons were defending state champions, undefeated, and ranked #1 in the nation. Northside won 7-6. The following season, Robert Davis hammered Northside 41-6. Coach Davis loves to make an example. TCC we know how you feel. LOL!

TrojanFan…Northside will NOT be playing Camden in the first round of the playoffs. We will be playing the 3rd place team from Region 2-AAAAA in the first round. Right now that will either be Stephenson, Union Grove, or ML King. Camden would be the round 2 opponent, assuming both teams win their opener. I don’t think Northside fans are taking anything for granted.

Come on Chris Whitfield. Why are you picking on Blesse Trininy?

As you await a response from Blessed Trinity poster, can you explain why you think that the Georgia playoff system is the same today as it was in the 1980s.

On another blog, you asked why a successfull program would fail to play 12 games. Do you fail to understand that in the 1980s the state champion only played 13 games because only the region champions reached the state playoffs.

If a team played 11 games that means that you were in the state quarterfinals. I am still attempting to determine whether you know someone at the AJC or if you are working for free.

Guys earlier Chris Whitfield proclaimed that if a team did not play 12 games in the 1980s that the team was not making a strong run. What a clown. Todd Holcomb can you help this guy. He is clearly not a Georgia native. Did you guys find him on the side of the road in Mississippi, Iowa, Alaska, or something.

There goes your early exit theory. 2. You say that Westside is probably the third best team in Middle GA. They are rank number 1, destroying their opponents and are a lot more impressive than Northside is this year. 3. I am glad your second placed, second class team was able to somehow get past that juggernaut that is Warner Robins last night by that convincing and soundly thrashing 14-0 score, now all has fallen into place for NHS to come to Kingsland and the Wildcats make you realize that the state of AAAAA football, unlike your mindset on really old historical crap, is not based in the past. You better hope Nix can find a way to sneak Marquis Ivory in one more game.

Guys earlier Chris Whitfield proclaimed that if a team did not play 12 games in the 1980s that the team was not making a strong run. What a clown.

Once again, ENR, you miss-state my words to suit your own purposes. but that is OK. I am pretty sure that no one on this blog is drinking your kool-aid. We all know who the clown is.

From 1980 through 1989, the State Champion would only be able to play a maximum of 13 games because only the 8 region champions reached the state playoff

LIE. In 1989, in my senior season, I played 12 games, losing in the region championship to Metter. That left eight teams remaining in the playoffs, If they decided the state championship in one game, that was a helluva night. All year long you have made blanket statements that have been wrong.

The problem is that you think people are out to get Northside. Not true. I have said here many times that I have great respect for Coach Nix and for the historic run of the Eagles. And as I have said before, YOU don’t give any respect, so YOU (not Northside, not the players, not the coaches, not the rest of the fans, but YOU) don’t get any.

Once again, you started all of this by stating that Camden had ‘early exits’ half of the time in the last decade. I was just using your own definition. Don’t blame me for using your own definitions.

And how am I on Blessed Trinity’s back by having a conversation with one of their fans? If that is your definition of being on someone’s back, then you must be riding piggy back on every team in the state!

My name is Chris Whitfield, and I approved this message.

CamdenWildcat, are you serious? Do you think that either Northside or Warner Robins is going to walk over the other? Of course, you would make ridiculous statements like this. Camden County does not have a rival game. At Camden, you line up against AAA schools, score 60, and believe that your scrimmage games are real. You are playing programs with 30 kids. Give me a break! Rivalries are regularly close. Look at the Lowndes County-Valdosta game this season.

You guys from Kingsland can name-call (along with Chris Whitfield) all you want. The bottom line is we are talking about Camden County…the real Camden County HS.**

**These are the facts:

  1. Camden County has failed to advance past the 1st or 2nd round half of the time over the past decade. You can use other periods and it gets worse (15 years, 20 years, etc.).** This is important because in all of these years Camden County has been highly ranked and won 9 or 10 regular season games. Hint, hint: No competiton.

2. No large classification school in the entire state of Georgia has lost more home playoff games than Camden County over the past 10 years during the 1st or 2nd rounds of the state playoffs. Remember that the past decade is clearly the best period ever at Camden County HS.

CamdenWildcat if this is inaccurate, please name the large Georgia school that has lost more home playoff games than your Wildcats. There are 73 different AAAAA schools. Surely, you can find just one, CamdenWildcat. I will tell you what, CamdenWildcat. You may include AAAAA or AAAA schools. Find one, CamdenWildcat, that has folded in the state playoffs at home as much as Camden County early (1st or 2nd round). Just one. At the end of the day, you are Camden County.

Since I am the dope, show proof that I am saying something that is “factually” inaccurate. Don’t give us your opinion. Show me the facts about what Camden County has done in the playoffs is counter to what I have written about the Wildcats.

Take note of this Jaybo. You and CamdenWildcat get so sensitive. I will not cry when people call a spade a spade about programs that are better than Northside You are correct. Warner Robins HS is a better program historically (not now, but certainly historically). There is no doubt about it. Unlike posters like you and CamdenWildcat, I can admit that.

Now Jaybo, Northside is a better program than Thomas County Central. Northside has a better winning percentage. Northside has more wins. Northside is better today. Northside has a stronger fanbase. Northside has a larger stadium. Northside has better coaches (how do you lose 51-0 against anyone). Northside has a better running back. NOrthside has a better linebacker. Northside has a better defensive tackle.

You can not provide any evidence that suggests otherwise. Yes, Thomas County Central has won more State Championships than Northside. Let’s be completely open about this Jaybo. Northside has played at the highest level for years. Northside had four years when we did not. We moved down to TCC’s level. During those four years, Northside went to the State Championship 3 of those years. By the way, Warner Robins won the other year.

TCC would not have ever won a State Championship if TCC was playing against strong programs. Look at how much better programs are like Ware County and Statesboro. Those teams were not even going to the state playoffs when they played against the largest schools. Look at what happened to TCC with an above average Middle Georgia program. Westside 51, TCC 0.

Get a clue Jaybo. You are the first poster that I have ever witnessed that keeps chattering after you get beat 51-0. You mentioned Northside and Warner Robins HS. Westside has a combined 4-12 against Warner Robins and Northside. You are running around proclaiming them the best team in Georgia (outside of Lowndes).

Jaybo, Northside is 359-148-6 with a winning percentage 0.706. TCC is not close!!! Have these conversations with CamdenWildcat or one of these metro Atlanta area posters.

Jaybo, we can all hear your pain. I guess when you get hammered by Westside 51-0, it hurts. I will let you simply get over your pain. TCC is who I thought they were.

On another note, one of the best high school football players that I have watched over the past few years is Justin Houston, a defensive end who graduated from Statesboro HS a couple of years ago. Houston is now a redshirt freshman at Georgia (#42). He is really playing well. It is nice to see because that kid eliminated an entire side of the football field when Northside played Statesboro in the 2005 State Championship game.

We were talking earlier in the week about teams making strong runs in the state playoffs. Contrary to Chris Whitfield’s belief the 2nd round was brought up by a Bradwell blogger.

I made the point that Camden County had not made it past the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs half of the time in the past decade. This is significant because Camden has regularly gone undefeated, yet lost early.

Chris Whitfield, the first round of the state playoffs were the State Quarterfinals in the 1980s. The second round of the state playoffs were the State Semifinals in the 1980s. The state playoff system through most of the 1980s only rewarded one team per region. Of course, today 4 teams per region reach the state playoffs. We are talking apples and oranges/

What don’t you understand Chris Whitfield? You have been officially exposed. You said: Northside has lost early in the playoff 9 out of 14 years under Nix. You said it Chris. Why are you dodging the statement now? Like many AJC writers, you make things up.

Furthermore, what does the 1980s have to do with the factually accurate assessment that Camden County has won 9 or 10 games, yet lost in the 1st or 2nd round half of the time (losing in the 1st round 40% of the time) over the past decade? You have attempted to change the topic to cover the fact that (as usual) you throw out tons of false information.

You came to the defense of Camden County and said that it was not true. Prove it Chris Whitfield. Surely, you have the ability to look it up for yourself.

Where are you Chris?

Chris Whitfield, you mentioned games played. I meantioned the 1st and 2nd round of the state playoffs. You are attempting to change the discussion.

I was contrasting Camden County’s performance and the performance of programs from Region 3AAAAA and conparing those performances with some of the teams that have been strong across the state. I used Northside, because I am most familiar with Northside. My guess is I could use Lowndes County, Marist, TCC, and others.

The point is Camden and the teams from Region 3AAAAA have not performed particularly well year over year in the early rounds of the state playoffs.

It is a matter of fact that the state playoff system is dramatically different today than it was in the 1980s. If you don’t understand that and the many ways that this affects a state playoff run, I don’t know what else to tell you.

It is a little different playing an opening round game against Brunswick as opposed to than playing a region playoff game against Valdosta or Warner Robins in the 1980s. If that means nothing to you, let’s just agree to disagree.

I am still awaiting evidence that Northside lost early nine out of 14 times under Conrad Nix. We both know better. Good luck with this freelance writing gig, Chris.

You said: Northside has lost early in the playoff 9 out of 14 years under Nix. You said it Chris

NO, I did not. YOU said that if you didn’t make it to 13 games that it was an “early exit.” and I countered that if that was YOUR definition of an early exit, then Northside made an early exit nine out of 14 years. I used your OWN definition when you responded to the Bradwell booster.

Like many AJC writers, you make things up.

OK, whatever. You still don’t address the fact that you are factually WRONG in your blanket statement about the playoffs in the 80s. You played 10 regular-season games. MOST (there are some exceptions) regions then had a region semifinal and final game (those would be PLAYOFF games, not state playoffs, but playoff games). For those keeping score at home, that is 12 games. Then, they play the quarters, the semis and the finals of the STATE playoffs. That would be 15. Again, i qualify that statement by saying that some regions did it different where the No. 1 seed didn’t play in the region semis and the No. 2 vs. No. 3 team played for the right to face No. 1 in the region championship game. That would eliminate one game, for 14. Others did it differently.

You might want to bash me because I don’t particularly think that you give any other team except maybe Lowndes (although that wasn’t the case earlier this year), but know this. I have been doing this job for almost two decades. I’ve seen the best, I know the best. Northside is one of the best that this state has ever seen. You make great points, but again for the 200th time, I was using YOUR definition of things. Not my own.

Ok chicken you no who,

Listen I keep on blogging about my team(TCC) because my team is my team win or lose!!! As I have said all season, we are in a rebuilding year, but I am proud of where we are. You really dont have a clue and I can already tell that you are one of these bloggers who never played football!! Did you, tell me that, did you?? You probably was a cheer leader….I can tell a weakling a mile away!! And no I’m not sensitive at all, but I get bothered by people like you who just talk talk talk and have no backbone themselves. You’re probably about 5’7 and tissue paper soft!!! In the grand scheme of things this was just a regular season lost and we are still good for the playoffs. Regardless of what happens the rest of the season this team has already exceeded my and many other peoples expectations!

Now if you’re gonna argue against TCC championships not being in the largest classification, then Ns’s championship’s are not liget either. When we won our 5 state championships there were only 4 classifications in Ga….so we were one classificaton from the top. Ns won theirs with 5 classifications in Ga. and they won in AAAA one classification from the top. What’s the difference… we both won titles one classification from the top?? I’ll tell yo dumb azz the difference…you wanna talk about winning percentages…who gives a sh..? The difference is TCC got **5 championships, and mighty northside of warner robins has only 2!!!! Did you get that??? TCC has won 5 championships, northside of warner robins only has two…case closed. Now come go to the weight room with me and lets pound some steel…oh I’m sorry its takes a man to do that and you weak azz probably scared of the gym!!!!

I just went back and saw something else yo dumb azz said. You said Ns has a larger stadium than TCC…Ns doesn’t even have a stadium!!! That is the city stadium and not Ns’s. Warner robins use that as their homefield too!! TCC has its own stadium and doesn’t have to share it with anyone!!! Dude you need to go get you a drink b/c you really need it. I bet you are single too b/c there is no way you could be married. If you are I bet your wife can’t stand your azz!!!

Anyways, Chris.. you brought up some good points. The playoffs were more exclusive in the 80’s but the talent and population has grown exponentialy since then therefore the boom in chances for the many teams and great players. And this question is for everyone.. What percentage do you, bloggers, give for BT and Jefferson County Being ranked? Both together and seperately..

Jaybo, the classification argument is something that happens to any smaller classification school.

We heard it at Northside when won State Championships in AAAA. The truth is there is a significant difference.

In 2004, the Warner Robins area schools moved to AAAA. Every year the followed a Warner Robins team played in the State Championship game (winning 3 of them).

To honestly say that there is not a significant different in levels of play is somewhat unrealistic.

When Northside was the largest (by enrollment) AAAA team in the state, the Eagles were practically unstoppable.

Perhaps, Northside would have won back-to-back state titles in any classification (it is highly likely with a quarterback like Marquez Ivory). However, you have to question the likelihood of smaller schools beating the largest classification teams.

The questions loom large for Thomas County Central. You guys can’t even beat the likes of Westside-Macon and Ware County. I continue to tell you that there is little evidence that Westside is even the best (or second best) team within a 20 radius of Macon, GA. I would honestly take Northside or Baldwin easily over Westside.

Chris Whitfield, you AJC writers are like politicians…constantly spinning things.

For anyone interested the thread is on last week’s poll chat. I (ENR) made a point to a wild blogger claiming that Bradwell was going to beat Camden County named Sportfan31313. I reminded Sportsfan31313 that Bradwell had not made it past the 1st or 2nd round of the state playoffs.

NEVER ONCE did anyone mention the number of games played. The games played were Chris Whitfield’s ascertion about the conversation. I did not mention games played because I know historically the playoff system has changed over the years. Reaching the State playoffs out of a region that included teams like Valdosta, Warner Robins, Clarke Central (Athens), or LaGrange in the 1980s is a big deal and it is not the same as playing in other regions.

Chris Whitfield, like many freelance writers who work for free at the AJC, works hard to change the conversation.

Any poster can see this fraud named Chris Whitfield for who he is. I NEVER used a number of games played until Chris Whitfield brought it up. The term that I accurately used is 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs.*

Chris Whitfield’s admiration for Region 3AAAA runs so deep that he actually brought up the name of coaches and foolishly proclaimed that Northside had early exits in “nine out of 14 years” under current coach Conrad Nix. I corrected that FALSE statement with facts.

By the way, Chris Whitfield, Conrad Nix has coached at Northside much longer than 14 years.

I encourage you to look these numbers up for yourself. DO NOT TAKE CHRIS WHITFIELD’s WORD FOR IT. The point of the conversation is that teams from one region win so many games but lose so often early in the playoffs. That is an issue that anyone should be able to bring up, especially when most of that region has the enrollment of AAA schools. There may be a correlation to early exits and playing AAA competition all season.

My definition of an early exit (in my own words) is losing in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs. That is the playoffs as they exist today (which is the same as they were in 1998).

Chris you may spin as you AJC writers have a tendency to do. I was speaking about the current playoff system and NEVER said anything about a team playing a certain amount of games. Every person is entitled to their own opinions. I have no appreciation for a person who just flat out lies about what was written. I reread the posts from Thursday and Friday. You made the point about the number of games and we both know it.

I know you are sensitive about this. My point was that success in the state playoffs means making it past the early rounds (1st or 2nd). My statement is clear. It is a matter of fact that Camden County has lost in the early times about half of the time. It is a matter of fact that no school in the state of Georgia has lost at more home playoff games early than Camden.

You are entitled to disagree. To lie about what was written is disingenuous.

I had fully intended NOT TO POST again in here until AFTER the regular season ended…BUT I don’t want you and others taking HEAT from a few sore HOYA fans (and I mean STILL SORE…physically) from the beat down they took in the EAST game!!!

They could NOT take a bit of criticism about “THE COB” and how it handled the crowd we brought that night. Well McEachern took advantage of the situation the following week and handed Harrison it’s first loss for the year, Marietta would have beat them again last week had a TD not been called back on a VERY QUESTIONABLE call. Yes, I know these happen to us all in lots of games so that is what it is, but had “BIG DAWG” #21 not came back and ran 24 / 26 times the Marietta game would have been LOSS #2!!!

Well this week they get ETOWAH, at ETOWAH…LOSS #2 and they know it!!! Nervous…You BET they are!!! All the way up to Etowah EVERY PLAYER ON THE BUS will be thinking…WIll I be the one to fumble, drop that pass, miss that tackle, make that penalty mistake!!!

Just play your game EAGLES, forget the hype…this HOYA team KNOWS in it’s heart that this year it’s NOT the #1 team in Region 5A, it’s not even the #2 TEAM in Region 5A…It’s just HOPING to survive the FIRST round of the playoffs as the #3 team!!!!!

So EAGLES do your thing, and EAST will be taking care of business…BRING ON WOODSTOCK to “THE BONEYARD”!!! The Raiders are READY!!! and you know it baby…LOAD THE CANNON!!

As a looooongtime Northside Eagle fan, I am very proud of their accomplishments (131-13, 35 consecutive wins, 2 state titles since 1998), but I will not diminish the accomplishments of other teams while boasting of ours. Lowndes 3 state titles in the last 4 years, with a good shot at another this year, is more impressive. Everyone knows Valdosta High School’s history. That’s even more impressive. I’m not going to knock Camden for playing in a weak region. They can’t do anything about that. You could say that actually hurts them. Their starters are not accustomed to playing 4 full quarters. If they were playing people would be screaming about hanging 100 points on some teams. Bottom line, you play the hand you are dealt. Northside can’t control what level (AAAAA or AAAA) and Camden doesn’t control what region. Let’s just all relax, support our teams, and enjoy what is certain to be a great playoff season.

Before anyone EVER thinks that I have bashed coach Conrad Nix, let me be very clear.

I can’t think of many other coaches in this state who in all of their years have had just ONE losing season. Nix is 244-62, a winning percentage of nearly 80 percent. WOW. His lone losing season was a one-season tenure at Fayette County when he was 1-9. And yes, ENR, I knew he was coach at NHS from 73-80.

We’ll let the bloggers decide. Everyone vote!

Am I a no-talent hack who is overpaid, and yes, ENR, I actually get paid to be here, or is ENR a tool?

You make the call! HAHAHA. Come on, ENR, this ought to be fun. I think all of the debating on here is healthy and lots of fun! I can take any abuse the bloggers want to heap on me. Make it more creative and I will even give you bonus points! Heck, ENR, I love you, man. I’ll even carry it over the Todd’s poll talk later tonight, so everyone have your say on the issue. Me or ENR? Which one is a child of evil?

To All of the Camden Bashers

Before you start running down this program you need to look at the performance of the team since Jeff Herron took over in 2000. This is also the first year that playoffs were held at the 5A level. During this time, only 3 schools have won the 5A title outright (Parkview, Lowndes, and Camden, with Peachtree Ridge and Roswell sharing the title in 2006). It is not an accident that Camden has been successful, nor is it all based on the Region 3 play. Coach Herron has won consistently at every school he has coached and is one of a handful of coaches to win State Titles with 2 different schools, in 2 different classifications.

The first 2 years under Coach Herron, Camden was one and done in the playoffs. Since 2002, they have made it to the semi-final game 4 times (including the State Championship), the quarterfinals once, and lost in the 2nd round once. Hardly supporting the “early exit” theorists out there. For the record, that would be 14-4 under coach Herron in the “early rounds”, all of which 1 or 2 were played at Camden.

In addition, they have played in the Kell Classic 6 times, winning the 6 games played.

I think that if you talked with any coach in the State that they would tell you that Jeff has a very formidable program and that they are capable of playing with any team in the State, and most States for that matter.

For the really brilliant commentators who remark about the weakness of Region 3….congratulations on that very astute observation. We just have not figured out how to physically move Camden County….if you are equally intelligent as to how to accomplish this task, you are obviously smarter than we are down here so we would be glad to listen to your ideas about how we can move and thereby improve the competitiveness of the football schedule.

In the meantime I guess you will just have to pack up on Friday’s during playoffs and come down and enjoy our hospitality at Chris Gilman Stadium (which by the way is a very nice facility)and see if your team is one of the few that have defied the odds and actually walked away with a “W” at the end of the night.

What you seem to forget is we are the NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK…this is our FIRST year in AAAAA play…To be where EAST is at this point is HUGE!!! (just look at Cherokee, they stepped up this year and are 0-9).

I can “FEEL YOUR PAIN”, this was your REGION…BUT I went back a did a bit of checking…As it looks right now Harrison will have to play either Lassiter or Walton in the First Round of the playoffs…I don’t think you have EVER played Lassiter (at least not since 01) and Harrison has LOST to Walton 3 TIMES…in 07 / 37-28, in 05 / 27-26 & in 03 / 21-7

Yep…I would be VERY WORRIED ALSO!!!!

OH Yeah I forgot…you still got that bus ride full of worry and the impending LOSS to those EAGLES!!! Since EAST has ALREADY beat Etowah, I got NO PROBLEM in pulling for these EAGLES!!!

Instead of wasting time “cleaning out a trophy case” I would spend that time more useful and help install some decent restrooms on the visitors side of “THE COB”…!!!

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL SCOUT—I have been saying this ALL season long. When teams found out their region alignments, they could have appealed the region they were in..this is direcly from GHSA’s website:

GHSA Announces 2008-2010 Region Alignments The GHSA has released the Region Alignments for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years. These will be the assigned regions for most sports. Sports still using Areas will be assigned in the spring. These assignments are subject to appeal by the schools.

Im not the smartest guy, never will claim to be, so if Camden didnt appeal when they saw how weak that region is, everyone needs to stop saying there were no options because now you have it.NOW, whether or not the GHSA would have granted a request to move out of a region, who knows? But there was an option, so no you didnt have to physically have to move camden, just fill out a lil paper work.

You think the ship’s captain was partying hard in Texas last night? Okay, all day and all night? No doubt made it worth it for him to miss the meeting of the GDC.

SGT CHRIS

I guess the scarasm was just a little bit too much for you to comprehend

Contrary to your view of simply filling out some paperwork, it does not quite work that way. Several years ago, prior to the latest re-alignment, the AD at Camden met with the AD’s from the respective schools in Region 1 and after a lot of discussions, it was decided mutually that it was not a good idea for Camden to join Region 1 as a result of the travel schedules (and expenses) revolving around all of the other sports which have mid week travel (Baseball, Track, Basketball, etc.) The closest schools in either Valdosta or Tifton being about 2 1/2 hours away by bus. Warner Robins and Colquitt being even further. There are no other regions to join that make any sense geographically. The only possible solution to the region problem would be either for the Savannah Schools to drop down where they belong, in which case maybe the GHSA would step in and force the issue. Or to create a sub-region within 3 and see if we can convince the Brunswick schools to come back to 5A and along with Bradwell at least have 4 teams which may offer a higher level of competition, and potentially allow for these schools to play a larger share of non-region games (Football only). There is some wording in the current By-Laws which lead me to believe that this is possible. The only problem here would be for the Region to decide how to allocate the playoff berths.

The biggest problem we have in Camden is well organized, professional coach and staff who have been able to build a program that ANY school would be proud of, and one that the majority of schools cannot compete with, at any level. The other schools have not kept pace, for a wide variety of reasons, including bugetary concerns. Evidence the fact that although the all time series with Bradwell is tied at 17 wins each, since Jeff Herron has been at Camden, they have not beaten Camden. The Savannah schools have gotten even worse (and I did not think that was possible). So please save us the sermons about our Region. We already know that on most weeks we would be better off scrimmaging our JV.

Thus, we try and schedule a strong schedule out of conference (even though it is only 3 games) each year in hopes of retaining some of that edge. If you feel that a particular school in your Region is at an unfair disadvantage as a result of the Camden schedule, then perhaps we should view the problem another way….why not have some schools from your Region join Region 3 and we can ship you some of the Savannah schools. Maybe Camden and Bradwell should join Region 1 and Houston, NSWR, and WR can join Region 3 and play all the Savannah schools. It would suit us just fine.

Let me say…there is no question that Westside is the best team in middle ga!!!! I’m not talking about what they did against Ns or baldwin last year, but I’m talking about this season…they are probably the second best team in the state after Lowndes and there is no doubt in my mind!!!!! Every so often a team will have a year where they are loaded on both sides of the ball…this is Westside’s year!!! Now I don’t know what they will do after this year(don’t know how many seniors they have), but they are the truth this year!!! You know there are haters everywhere in life and in sports!! Enr you are an official hater…why do you have to try put other teams down to make your team look good?? Could it be b/c your team Ns is not as big and bad in everyone else’s eyes as they are in your?? Wow….I think thats exactly what it is!!!!

Tucker seems to be responding well after getting stomped by Marist. hope some of the injured starters get back on the field for the playoffs. Devin Scott would be a great help.

hey Jaybo,, do your fingers get sore ?
and ENR you probably never played any ball. you’re such a nerdy girly boy with all your keystroke smack ! give it a rest already !

Devon had a few carries in the second half of the SW Dekalb game; picked up a key first down. Nice to have that speed in the lineup. If we could only get Deion Roberson back. He was still on crutches Friday.

OK, let’s get this settled once and for all: The winner of the Camden/Lowdnes County game - for the South GA Title will be the eventual State AAAAA champion. There’s no team in N. Georgia that can hold a candle to either one of them. Forget the pansies that try to play football in the Atlanta metro area!! ‘Ol Swamp Dog (Okeefenokee’s finest)

Camden won’t meet Lowndes until the state title game, pending both teams make it there. Camden has done pretty well the past couple years at home in the playoffs so it should be easier to make it to the dome this year. That senior class is more motivated than ever after last year’s loss in the playoffs. Camden all the way!

BOY NOBODY WANTS TO TALK ABOUT CAMDEN CO. BUT BOY DON’T IT HURTS WHEN YOU FIND OUT THAT YOU HAVE TO COME PLAY CAMDEN CO. PEOPLE STILL TALK ABOUT HOOVER, ALABAMA, A GREAT TEAM, BUT DO YOU REMEMBER THE SCORE? HOW MANY TEAMS FROM THE GREATER ATLANTA AREA GO OUT LOOKING FOR A TEAM LIKE HOOVER TO PLAY.
