Keep us up to date on those scores, y’all - and that soggy weather. Lot of dirty unis going in the locker room washing machines tonight…

Hey MountainMama - Give us a report on how the autumn leaves are looking up there. Because once football Fridays are done, some of us enjoy tooling up to your great area of the state for a day in the mountains.

Good luck to Towns! Enjoy the great season, y’all.

Yes, like most games in the state tonite, the Newnan game was sloppy. Offense sputtered at times - penalties, dropped passes, etc. - but still scored 35 against Pebblebrook. But the defense - the stingiest in AAAAA, if not all classifications - once again blanked their opponent. Sigh, just another victim. Alec Ogletree once again showed his enthusiasm with a blistering hit that everyone in Drake Stadium felt! One more practice game against Mundy’s Mill before EC!

Oops … the first score was a defensive fumble recovery. Sorry about that defense. So, the offense ‘only’ scored 28. Go Newnan!!

Whoever you are, you obviously haven’t seen the facility at Bazemore in Valdosta.

Can’t ever call that field muddy. Just wet. Logic dictates when the ball is wet, the game become one of control. The ball is generally thrown only if you aren’t effective on the ground

Just curious. How did a “Muddy field” get into the conversation? Also, I don’t even know why I bother to defend myself to some people.

I apologize to everone else for doing so.

While Godhigh missed the game the Hoyas showed they were hardly a one man team. The defense struggled in the first half yet the offense moved the ball quite easily once they settled in and found the right guys who wanted to play.

In fact, in the 2nd half the Hoyas put up 26 points and were more balanced than they have been in two years.

Instead of doing his doosh skits, he could be covering more football in the short window he has to work with. And he gives the most pitiful descriptions of every game- doesn’t even know which team is which! Can we not get someone from around here? Is there not a better option?? I heard Creekside beat Chapel Hill 28-7. Also Walton and Harrison seems to be overated. Stephenson might make a run in the playoffs. Newnan played a very sloppy game on offense but that defense is on another level. I’m glad E.C. got back on track tonight. I heard the Carrollton vs Central game went into OT with Carrollton winning on a Int on the 5 yard line.

Milton game winning play was a 10 yard pass from Wil Perry to Peter Flaaen in the front corner of the endzone. Peter was blanketed by Roswell defenders and Wil hit the perfect spot with 9.1 seconds remaining.

Roswell got the ball after a squib kick and the Milton 3-man rush managed to sack the Roswell QB to end the game.

It was a great game by both teams!

dont forget East still has a fisty cherokee team next week…lol but dont overlook anyone, right hoyas? Hoya Dog hard fought win? it was a blowout I am glad the boys did not quit and attempted to fight back but its tough to come back from 35-7 at halftime. The Hoyas are a really different team without Robbie. cannot forget he was not the only one nursing his injuries from the brutal East team, IF they are able to healthy they will ok, bad thing is, its a bad time to be getting healthy when your in the “meat” of your schedule Hoyas hold on or your gonna loose grip of “their” region. And if East does what they should do as in win out they could back their way into the region title. Being an impartail fan of the region, I have seen all the teams in the region play, and as I have said before my opninon is that East has the best all around team. And as much hell as I am gonna catch EHS is 2ed best with harrison 3rd, any team can be beat on any given night, harrison prooved that over the past 2 weeks. Good luck to all of region 5! and Hoya Dawg where do you get off talking about and I quote “THis will be the year, when you talk about what could have been”.. That is Harrison’s motto? Lassiter 31 Walton 24. Worst I’ve seen Walton play in several years. Walton was hit with multiple penalties and had penalty yardage well in excess of 100. The refs were wretched — not biased, just bad.

Lassiter played very well tonight in their win against Walton. Walton did have several defensive starters suspended for the 2nd straight game. Walton could not seem to get their running game untracked. Walton scored with less than a minute left but could not recover the onside kick. Congrats to Lassiter on a well deserved win.

As for Harrison, they had three very key players injured in last week’s win over E. Paulding so I’m sure that was a factor.

Walton will be back at full strength next week and angry.

Just winding down after reading all the blogs and all of the stories. It was an 8-4 week for you humble high school scribe, and not feeling terribly bad about it. Just a few thoughts.

DUNWOODY looked pretty legit in the second half against McNair tonight. Is AAA the most wide-open of all five classes? It sure is looking that way. Can’t wait to see how that class plays out.

I knew that Harrison was going to need some help tonight against McEachern but I was surprised by how bad it got so quickly. Still, I couldn’t find it in my heart to pick against the Hoyas three weeks in a row. I said on a radio show tonight that it might be a case of East Paulding losing the battle last week, but Harrison losing the war because of their injuries.

Has anyone started figuring out the 6AAAAA possibilities with Roswell and Walton losing tonight? There are about 573 different combinations with, what, six viable playoff contenders? Who would have thought that Kell could be in a position to host the first round of the playoffs?

Did the rest of Class AA get a glimmer of hope tonight by learning that Buford is human?

Union Grove fans? Just wondering if any of you were still questioning my parentage like one e-mailer. Another was quite sane, a Mr. Hutto, in his disagreement with me, and I enjoyed our conversation.

Here and investigator

To begin, don’t you know it is bad etiquette to use different names. Funny how there are two almost identical posts yet with two different names.

As far as bashing East I don’t believe there was any of that until the excuses started flying from ill informed East people like Homet who actually had to question why the visiting players had to walk across the field to the locker room. As far as last night goes, you will hear no excuses from the hoya nation. We got our A—— outplayed, like we outplayed East even though your alter ego homet does not agree, and out coached and that is the name of that song. Maybe you want us to make excuses like EP did. The Indians played a flawless game and we played like dog squeeze especially when it came to tackling. They were the better team last night which is concept EP has yet to understand. It is that simple.

I won’t even address the crazy one man team issue as anyone who knows anything about football knows there is no way one man can dominate a game as they still need blocking, passes thrown, passes caught, etc. Then again, I learned a long time ago don’t try to use logic with illogical people.

Anything else?

Hoyas are alive and well. No excuses, We got beat all over the field last night. The Offense looked good in the second half. The only true loss is one that you don’t learn from. If I had had to pick a game to lose, this would be the one. We have had a great year thus far, have one at least two games that we maybe should not have.( Peachtree ridge, and Woodstock) If you would have givinen me 7-1, at this point in the season, from the beginnig, I would have taken it. (barring that one loss not being East Paulding) We are going to the playoffs, Homefield would be great, but who you play the fist round is more important. We hold our destiny in our own hands. We don’t have to depend on anyone else to lose. The Hoyas are proud and still fighting. Etowah is a good team, with a good coach, and fans with class. This will be a great game .The only thing I have against Etowah, is they did’nt take care of business against EastPaulding. We have got to take care of business this week at marietta before any of that happens. Let me say one more time, Good job Mceachern Indians, and Coach Hockman. The man has our number. Godhigh gets hurt, Harrison loses. That tells the story for the Harrison team. Godhigh was the Hoyas, and with him gone…wheres the dawgs?

Actually the offense did well without him. But the defense just could not seem to tackle anybody in the first half. Lots of new players, lots of familiar players on the bench. I understand there were 5 injuries. Maybe one in practice? I have to hand it to East Paulding, they may have lost the game but with 5 injuries Harrison could give up the region

Go Golden Eagles. Great win last night aganist Woodland-Stockbridge. My big props goes out to the Eagles Defense. Man I take my hat off to you. The last 2 games (Jackson & Woodland-stockbridge) you have played Championship caliber football. I am glad to see the change where the coaches are going with their best bet to start the game Defense ! denfense! Denfense ! Now if we had an offense to go along with the Defense we would maybe be 6-2 overall and 5-2 in the region. I haven’t seen the offense since the 1st half of the Spalding game. Where have you gone? But I forgot it was the Defense that was on the field first to start that game as they were in Jackson and Woodland-Stockbridge. Just a thought maybe the defense can play some offense and we can play a complete game. We don’t finish GAMES but maybe its a Nick Saban and Alabama game plan. Offense show up and play the 1st half and take the 2nd half off and let the defense win the game. I just don’t know but we try so hard to give games away. Games that should be blow outs are won by maybe 6 to 7 points. Maybe I am expecting to much from a team that is recovering from 1-19 in the last two years.record and a 0-10 record last year. But there is a lots of talent on this ball club I wreally wants to see these kids win the way that they should win and not just get by. I know maybe I have the old ball coach spirit (Steve Spurrier)when he was in Florida. Don’t beat youself, make the other team beat you. By that if the score if 100-0. Its the other team responsiblity to stop you. Come on offense lets get it going. Let finish the season the way I know that you can. Go Golden Eagles !!!!!!!

Here, Ithink that question was for me, I don’t really like East all that much either, but for different reasons. I think you add alot to our region though. You have really brought up the talent level, and created a new rivalry. Homet is correct, these three teams, and the fourth, who I say will be MAC, after the beat down they puy on us,may make some noise in the playoffs. That remains to be seen

By Bystander Has nothing to do with our destiny, I just want East to lose. If We win against Marietta and Etowah, we win the region. I wish Mceachern would have beaten East. I really wish east was 0-8. For some reason, i just really dont like East Paulding. Maybe it’s the bloggers, the fans, the coach, .maybe all of the above. You said you are a new blogger, but you seem to be the same as the rest.

Don’t hate, its all in fun. But I do LOVE East Paulding.

Homet, We will face region 6, They have some teams that may get the 4th spot, that Harr. may not want to face because of match-ups. Milton has an awesome running back, And Lassiter can throw for 300 yards a game. The 4th spot in our region, may not be a bad spot. Of course they say you gotta beat the best, to be the best. We shall see.

I knew that Harrison was going to need some help tonight against McEachern but I was surprised by how bad it got so quickly.

Before the game started other fans said that our team was pretty beat up, not just the injuries and that there were 5 injuries. I thought that there were four but someone could have been injured in practice or perhaps one before the Paulding game. The offense played well, even in the first half though they didn’t play much there. The defense kept missing tackles and slipping on the turf in the first half. Except for the defensive linemen most of the defense were players I was not familiar with, though I don’t keep up with that well.

BTW I don’t consider 48 to 33 a blow out. Harrison did very well to come back in the second half.

Viking Dad, based on the tie breaker formula, Lowndes will probably be number one see, EVEN IF THEY LOSE TO COFFEE. fair play, both of Tift’s touchdowns came against our Number One defense. The second one was set up by a mistake on the reserves playing offense, but the Number One defense came back on the field. Give Tift credit for never quitting.

For HoyaDawg

I still say the game came down to your “ONE MAN”, “BIG DAWG”, whatever you want to call him…the guy was TOUGH to stop. (Same thing happened last year against TCC)

Obviously it’s not a “ONE MAN” show but even you have to admit that without him Harrison is a different team that is playing (at least for now) at a different level)…

and I have watched the playback several times now and I still say the game came down to 2 HUGE plays that changed the momentum and to Robbie’s play.

Back to your Region 6 comments…agreed Everyone is going to have to “crank it up” a notch against those teams. That is what JAYBO says we are all playing for…SEASON #2…THE PLAYOFFS!!!…LOL!

The Trojans can stop Reid by tackling him.

As a footnote Coffee outgained NSWR 460 to 220. And had 30% more time of possession.

Take away Coffee’s three fumbles, (I know you can’t)… Things may have been different

Bacon was good but got most of his yardage came on a long kickoff return.

NSWR has a team that’s better than Bacon.

Is Lowndes at least as good as Reid? Guess we’ll see.

or:Does it really matter

You gotta love the uninformed!!!…If you are SCARED just say so…but EAST is NOT…I repeat NOT dropping back to AAAA next year or in the next few years (and yes these schedules are set on 2 year cycles) but as the folks who actually know understand, these classes are set by school ENROLLMENT numbers. NOT WHERE A SCHOOL WANTS TO PLAY!!!!

East lost student population to the new North Paulding High ALREADY and is still over the enrollment numbers for AAAAA by several hundred students. With the growth Paulding County is seeing these numbers are INCREASING not DECREASING…SO get used to the NEW POWER IN 5A AAAAA…The RAIDERS FROM EAST!!!

By Homet

October 26, 2008 9:28 AM | Link to this

Did a bit more “RESEARCH” and just for the record…EAST currently shows student enrollment of 1,949 students! This breaks down as 9th grade @ 599 / 10th grade @ 549 / 11th grade @ 456 / & 12th grqade @ 345…this is AFTER student adjustment for North Paulding High!!!

Additionally projected classes for NEXT years 9th grade class are between 575 and 625 based on the middle schools that feed EAST. SO do the math and EAST will INCREASE in student count to somewhere between 2,179 & 2,229 for the 09 school year!!!

The cut-off for AAAA is 1,750 at the HIGH side so EAST will be WAY above that number for years to come!!!!

The naysayers / whinners the last few years have been calling EAST a 4.5 A school playing in AAAA class, so now I guess they can say EAST is “barely” a AAAAA school playing in AAAAA!!!!

With the current 7-1 record this year I guess it’s EASY to see why some schools want EAST OUT OF THEIR DIVISION!!!…LOL!

Harrison played Paulding County in the first game of what was known as Border Wars. The game was played at McCeachern and Harrison laid it on them pretty bad. McCeachern played Hiram in the second game of the double header. Last year M played PC and Harrison played Hiram, at Harrison.

Not sure where you got those numbers, but they are wrong. The junior class alone has over 600 and I believe the senior class is over 500 (not sure on that one). I know at the beginning of the year there were over 2000 enrolled.

To: “Does it Really Matter” It was established by bloggers long ago that this was not a place for English lessons. Having said that, please do not attack those that attended inner city schools. Remember your blessing to live an attend school where you preceive to be in a better environment is only by the grace of god. A tragedy in your family could easily throw you, your kids, or a family back to living and attending an inner city. Be thankful!

Jaybo, Man, I wish I could see the TCC-Westside game but I have to be in Warner Robins for the NSWR-WR game. I think you live in Henry County so you will be traveling south—SO, here is the directions to the stadium. Traveling as you always do down 75 to TC, take 475 to Valdosta as you always do: LOL. Now, when you get about half-ways down 475, take exit 5 right (Thomaston Road). Stay on inside lane— Go about a half mile to Heath Road (service station on corner) make a left on Heath Road, the stadium is about another half mile down the road. Don’t park deep into the parking lot or you will get out about 12:00 AM. Have Fun!
