what game is on tv or direct tv tonight and what channel?
By AJC Sports

Tonight’s TV game is East Paulding-Harrison on CSS if you have cable. Cable channels vary, depending on where you live, but usually CSS is 45 in Atlanta. Good luck. It starts at 7:30 p.m.

East Paulding muffs a punt and Harrison recovers deep in Raider territory. Three plays later, Harrison QB Christian Burnett finds Garrett Reed in the back of the end zone for a 7-0 Harrison lead. With the exception of the turnover neither team is able to sustain much on offense.

Harrison 14, EP 3 at the half and Godhigh’s kick return the real difference. Neither team looks particularly sharp, but my thinking right now is that it is more a testament to the defenses than to bad offenses.

I think a Tift vs Camden County game would be a great game! Hard to live in 1AAAAA every year with each of them beating up on one another! Rural schools that I am from like Turner County are seemingly ALL A schools now. But the talent is still the same I think…farm boys STILL know how to play this game WELL!!! Might need that gas for our own trips… :-)

Camden is playing a weak schedule but they played the same weak schedule last year when they lost in the SEMI-FINALS to LOWNDES (Ranked#1)10-0…I have seen both teams play this year, and I can tell you CAMDEN is a much better team than LOWNDES played last year. If both make it to the finals, it will be a toss up…both are extremely deserving of their rankings…CAMDEN IS FOR REAL…..

I think any top 4 team in the 1AAAAA would give Camden a lost, either Lowndes, Northside, Coffee, Or Tift Co would be a major adjustment that Camden hasn’t seen, or will see until state playoffs.

Will Crisp County give Cairo a challenge for the 1AAA crown? They survive and scrap and have some resiliency. Does anyone have an opinon? I think their win over Worth a common opponent shows they have a small chance of getting it done! Also, why are they not ranked?? They are the leader in that region above Cario at this moment? Seems to me rankings are becoming more of a popularity contest rather than a true measure of a teams performance!!

I’m not trying to make Harrison out to be a one-man team, but Robby Godhigh is something special. His 1-yard plunge capped a 11-play drive to make it 21-3 Harrison over EP. I’ve said it before and will say it again — if he were five inches taller, every major college in the nation would be vying for his letter of intent.

Newnan wins 43-0. The defense played lights out again. Wynn rushed for over 100 yards and caught two touchdown passes. It would have been atleast a 60 point win on a dry field. WHAT a crowd and everyone came to see the match-up, JAYBO you can appreciate this HARRISON team, they basically play the entire game with one player…#21. This kid does it all, Offense, Defense…all night. Remind you of anyone???…LOL!
EAST never got on track and in this type game you CANNOT make mistakes, tonight EAST made plenty. While we had 2 TD’s called back on penalties that DID NOT decide the game. The Defense played good enough to win but we just never got going on Offense!!!
Harrison has a great facility and a really nice field to play on. They now have the inside track for the region title but still have to play Etowah… East has Kennesaw Mtn and Woodstock so who knows…
But tonight it was Harrison’s night and they deserved the win. Good Job guys!!! I don’t know about the other EAST fans but I’ll take being 6-1 at this stage of the season.

Jaybo, We were at the game so no updates from here. Both teams played a good game but the Hoyas had our number tonight. Congrats to them. Now we just have to hope that Harrison slips on a bannana peel or something in one of their remaining games.:-) And congrats to T.C.C. on their win too.

I appreciate the update and your honest assessment of your game tonight. You are absolutely right, 6-1 aint nothing to be ashamed of! I’ll be honest with you, the outcome of this game suprised me…thought it would have been closer with ep winning. Someone on the ga high school radio show said Harrison dominated this game…wow! Hey Homet, one sign of a good coach is he knows when he’s got a “horse”, and he keeps riding him to victory…can’t blame them for that…thats smart football. The object of the sport is not to satisfy parents or boosters, but to win the game!!!

HOMET - Hey, I knew it would be tough, and you know I had to root for Harrison. “East” is a major part of why the region 5AAAAA is UP, and like I said before only the names have changed. Harrison/Etowah/EAST/ Kennesaw, oh by the way did anyone catch the score of Etowah AT Mariietta?

Raider fan,
Thanks for the congrats, but there is no way the score should have been that close. We were lights out on defense except for one long sweep run, but our offense just keep fumbling. Bottom line, TCC has a long way to go inorder to be a good football team.

Glad you enjoyed the facilties and the game other than being on the short end of the score. I also appreciate the class you are showing in writing what you did.
It was a hard fought contest without question. Both teams played hard all night long and both teams were strong on both sides of the ball. Basically, just very good teams going at it.
Good luck with the rest of the season. While we of the Hoya Nation feel region 5-AAAAA is our region the EP Raiders are more than a respectable member of it.

Hats off to the East Paulding Team, The players showed alot of class. I know much preasure has been put on these boys, and losing is’nt the norm for you. . You play the game hard, and with much heart, We may have won the battle tonite, but lost the war, refering to the amount of injured players that we have. I never thought East would come into this region and be 6-1 at this point. The region is still up for grabs. we have a tough road ahead of us. Mceachern, mariettta, and Etowah. I’m very proud of the Hoyas, and the effort they give every week. Heal quick B.M. ,C. T. ,R.G. , B.B. Our prayers are with you.

**Dont get me wrong Harrison made the plays to win.. It has been said all week that the team whom made fewer mistakes would win… and that is exactaly what happened. Neither team played to their ability, I dont know if it was all the hype or what, but all the T.V time outs seem to take the wind out the sails.. of both team’s, as well as the croud. I for one will never go to another telivised high school football game, unless its at the dome! It takes too much away from the game at this level, the boys are used to go go go all the time, not go go wait wait go go! This works for both sides, I am not making excuses for East they were out played by Mr. Goodhigh tonight, and I hope he gets well soon, Someone much wiser than me once told me that the best team does not always win, I think in the long run that this loss will be a good thing, and it would be so nice to “rematch” this year!! Congrats Hoyas! and to the Hoya “nation” you call us rednecks? do you forget that we are your neibors the two schools are less than 10 miles apart, what does that make you??

I personally am not aware of anyone who has called EP players or fans rednecks so lets get off that issue.
As far as the game goes, you are obviously implying the best team did not win and maybe that is the case or maybe it isn’t. All I know is that the best team last night did win so until proven otherwise the Hoyas are the best team. We suffered injuries to many key players yet still hung a convincing victory up on the board. This includes scoring a TD after Robbie got hurt. Thanks for the best wishes for Robbie. he will be a game day decision next week.
Good luck with the rest of your season.

I personally am not aware of anyone who has called EP players or fans rednecks so lets get off that issue.
We got to the stadium around 4:45 & over 75 fans were already in line at the gate. After getting in and set up in the seats, our section filled quickly. When both teams took the field to practice the entire student section of Harrison was directly across from the end the of the field where EAST practiced. They cheered / taunted our players on and off numerous times with the chant “REDNECK RAIDERS” You know how big that section of students (all in the green paint) was so you could not help but hear them anywhere in the stadium…I think this may be what I bleed Black and Silver was referring to.
Also with the visitors locker room located over by the HOME side, explain why the busses had to unload our players on the visitors side of the field and then the players carry all their equipment across the field to the locker room before and after the game. Security would not allow the trailers to use the road behind the HOME stands long enough to even unload equipment. It was obviously designed just for access to the area behind the HOME stands!!!…
Anyway as for the game, Our “D” played real good last night, we gave up the TD thru the fumble early that hurt (seems to happen a bit to much) but usually the offense can overcome that. The offense for whatever reason never got on track…I think HARRISON played as good as you guys ever will, but you really didn’t get to see the complete game EAST can play. These teams are much closer matched than this one game showed…I thought this one would come down to a field goal, one way or another.

GO 6-1 Chapel Hill Panthers!!!!! Beat E.Coweta 13-7 in a very good defensive matchup. Game could have swung either way. It was 7-0 (EC) well into the 3rd quarter. Not sure why no one is noticing, but our one loss was to Newnan(no shame there) which by the score looks like a spanking. And it was, in the 2nd half. This is where an 0-10 team (from last year) mentality creeps in. Fought hard and stayed in the game the first half and then Newnan flexed their muscles and for a team that has never had a winning season, couldnt fight back. Everyone I spoke with from Newnan all said that they were impressed with the talent and speed from CH and not to take them lightly. What coach Parker has done to that school is simply amazing. Has to be a COTY candidate.

You know, some people just cannot lose a game with dignity. Last night the better team won and until knocked off their perch the Hoyas were the better team.
As far as your “redneck” issue goes I was not in the stands until close to game time so I cannot address the redneck issue. If that is what Bleed Black and Silver is referring to then so be it. Should not have happened but then again, many EP bloggers were bringing up the redneck vs. rich snob issue so what is the point of complaining about it? Complain to your own fans as well. Getting back to Bleed, I responded thinking he or she meant a blogger was saying that.
As far as the visitor’s locker room goes, what visitors now use was at one time the home locker room. It was that way until the new fieldhouse directly behind the end zone was built. That is why it is where it is. Prior to that the visitors used the small green building to the right of the visitor’s stands if facing the stands from the field. I don’t think you would want to use that and we are not about to relocate the new visitor’s locker room.
As far as unloading buses and dropping off kids behind the home stands goes the area behind the stands is reserved for booster club parking and other essenbtial reasons including the grills for the concession stands, back up supplies, ref parking, etc. Last night the TV truck was also parked there. In all my years of going to hoya games, and they are many, not once has anyone complained about this issue. I guess there is always a first yet it did not contribute to the result of the game as you seem to be implying. Sorry we it wasn’t the Boneyard.
Anything else you would like complain about?

HARRISON VENTERS
Congradulations on the BIG W You guys on here are class act winners and venters Hats off to you for that!!!!
Someone had said in an earlier post about pressure, I think that just might be a correct statement as far as the EAST PLAYERS and COACHES. Reid and Companies 30-4 record so far IMHO is pretty darn good. The Bar has been set and Coaches can and do make mistakes!, Imagine that LOL
Load the Cannon we aint done baby!!!! Sometimes a LOSS is a WIN 6-1 looks darn good to me and a lot of others I’m sure would take it.
I wasn’t at the game last night so I won’t comment on the coaching ability regarding clock management, how many touches this guy got or didn’t get. Some East fans on AJC and GAVSV like to Armchair Quarterback which is fine just make sense when you do.
Personaly I make a point NEVER to comment on coaching, especially when were talking about coaching teenagers!!!
I would imagine there was some tough love going on last night on EP sidelines.
Our S-teams has let to long K-off’s go to the house in consecutive weeks. Mental mistakes or talented players ? A little of both” that will be fixed I’m sure!!
I hope all the kids banged up last night heal up quick.

Great post.
I couldn’t agree more with you about not second guessing coaches. Coaching kids at any age is tough and people also forget that high school coaches, with rare exception, are teachers first and coaches second. It is not like they devote 100% of their time to coaching.
Good luck to the Raiders on the rest of the season. You guys have some tough games coming up with Kennesaw Mountain and Woodstock so bring the A game. KM just likes to stap it on and pound the ball whereas Woodstock can come at you a number of ways. Their QB is very short yet very quick with a rocket for an arm. Makes good decisions as well. Best of all he is a good kid with great parents I have known for a few years. Be happy both games are at home as the facilites at KM are more cramped than Harrison. At least we have plenty of room around the area. They have none.

Jaybo once again some of us (probably 3-4000) Raider fans were at the game. SOOO, it was hard to get to the boards till 30 minutes after the game. HOWEVER, Raider fans have brought a lot of passion to this region like it or not. With out the Raider fans this region wouldnt get the attention it has got this year(as much anyway). There are A LOT of great teams in our region and Harrison proved tonight they are still the team to beat. So you might not like us, but ya have to admit our addition has made things more interesting! About the “redneck raiders” it was chanted loudly, and it shows the elitist view many have toward East being from “Pauldin’ County”. Didnt make me mad just good clean fun and it was a great atmosphere.. Should be the beginning of some good football! There is alot of football left. East has two tough games left with KMHS and Woodstock, Harrison will have a tough one with McEachern and Etowah, and Etowah still has Harrison. Who knows how this will shake out with seeding. Harrison, East, and Etowah are pretty much in (in what order who knows), and then the race for fourth should be great!

I’m not sure where this comment is coming from…Every EAST poster I see (myself included) has said that…LAST night Harrsion was the better team!!!…Once the fumble occurred and Harrison scored EAST could never get back on track or get the momentum going. EAST needed to come out in the 2nd half and take the opening kickoff down for a TD…They didn’t and that REALLY hurt. Instead of a 14-10 game it became the 21-3 we all saw and went from there.
I was just curious about the visitors locker set-up and the ACCESS allowed to it…nothing more, don’t read things that aren’t there into my post!!!
Everyone I spoke with thought the facilities were great…Like any school your size parking was / is an issue (look at EAST we have a horrible parking problem) but we got there early and found plenty. The field is tremendous and made for good play, had it been some of the other schools with the rain we had up till game time the field would have been sloppy.
The region/playoff issue is far from over…Ya’ll still have a VERY tough Etowah team and EAST has Woodstock & Kennesaw Mtn.
Trust me when I tell you…We still have THE CANNON LOADED & RAIDER NATION is ready!!!

For JAYBO
Let me tell you for the record…Nobody got their “AZZ” handed to them last night. This was two VERY evenly matched teams playing hard. To the Hoyas credit they took advantage of the EAST mistakes and EAST could not do anything right on offense!!!
Harrison has #21 that plays hard, but I don’t see him at the same level of the kid ya’ll had last year that ran all over us (help me here I can’t remember his name).
The bottom line for last night…Harrison played a complete game and last night deserved the win!!!

If anybody out there still thinks that the Towns County turnaround from a 36 game losing streak to being 7 - 1 thusfar this season needs only to check with the Bulldogs from Georgia Military in Milledgeville. The Indians handed the GMC Bulldogs a good ol’ fashioned “butt whupping” last night defeating them soundly by a 49 - 14 score in a driving rainstorm. Ok got a question for 5aaaaa people who might now how our region decides tiebreakes. A LOT could happen East might lose again, Etowah might lose to Harrison, Harrison might lose to Etowah-who knows?! But a question JUST for fun? Etowah beats Harrison and East and the other two win out. Harrison 9-1, 8-1 East 9-1, 8-1 Etowah 9-1, 8-1 How would the seeding be done considering no one beat the other two. A lot could happen and before Hoya fans jump on me thinking they are gonna lose, I’m not! I just think it would be fun to find out how our region would pick. It would SUCK being any of these schools at 9-1 and going on the road week one!

Blessed Trinity will get theirs in the next couple weeks, pay back is H….. One thing i like about Grayson’s coach, when we are up 2 or more TD’s, second even third comes in to finish! DJ -I like how it is setting up. Etowah with winnable games at South Cobb and then North Cobb at home. Finish with Harrison at Etowah, means we do control our own destiny. Sorry HOMET, but that is why I had to root for Harrison. Also, “EAST” has to play both Kennesaw Mtn and Woodstock which are both very phsical(hardest hitting teams we have played), and hungry battling for the fourth playoff spot. I would not want to be in “East’s” shoes. Finally it doesn’t really matter what Harrison does until we play them, I hope they win them all, prior to the “Showdown”. Oh by the way WILDMAN and HOYADAWG, don’t worry about your redneck bashing chants at our place, we are a golf course community. Fly high Etowah!

If that were the case Harrison would win the region. The first tiebreaker goes to non-region opponent. Harrison beat Peachtree Ridge (5A). Etowah and East Paulding beat 4A schools. The next tie breaker between Etowah and East goes to a power rating. East beat Rome (6-1) and Etowah beat Starrs Mill (1-5). Therefore East would be 2nd and Etowah would be 3rd.

I think they did away with the coin toss after the Hoyas and two other teams tied a few years ago. When we won at Pebblebrook the last game of the season we went into a three way coin toss with I beieve one was marietta but not sure about the other. We won and hosted Walton when we lost. One of the other teams had a first round home game and the other went on the road.
I think BiGBob is right about the way it is done. The key will be to take care of business and not lose.

Good hard fought game, and the best team for the night did win. Hats off to everyone on the Harrison team and the coaches, they played hard, showed respect and were a class act all the way around. More than happy to be in a region that has demonstrated the type of sportsmanship I’ve witnesses weekend and week out, and yes this is contrary to what I saw in 4AAAA.
On a negative note: For the second straight week(North Cobb last week) the PA system was terrible. And Port-a-Poties,,,,,,,,,,my lord what an embarassment that should be. Someehow if a school and it’s booster club can afford a beautiful field like that and a nice looking locker room, it would seem that they would want their visitors to feel welcome and have a good game time experience with the facilities as well. This is by far the worst visitor facilities I’ve witnessed in all my years of going to games here in Georgia. Take a trip to Marietta and see what visitor facilites can and should be like.
Great classy team, great coaches, mostly respectful fans/students, wonderful playing surface,,,,,,,,,,,,and a F- or zero for the visitor fan facilities. Felt like we should have passed a hat and left it at the gate on the way out.

Graysonfan2, Camden did not run the score up. Their starters were out of the game by the sceond quarter, in fact Coach Heron had his offense take a knee while they were in scoring range prior to half time. The second half was run by the JV Squad. Teams in the region still have to compete. Remember Grayson fan2, we played in the same weak region when you came to town. Before you become a critic know the facts. As always I don’t any 5A teams putting the Wildcats on their schedule. The only way to get teams here is to win the region and get to the Dome. There is plenty of talent in this region believe it or not. But when you share the same talent pool with so many others schools, Savannah are schools are at a disadvantage. Don’t sell the talent in 3-5A short.

Congrats to the Hoyas for a great win last night. It was a nail biter. The game was truly everything I expected it to be and basically boiled down to a few mistakes and opportunities.
East Paulding has a very loyal group of fans that stayed until the very end. You should be very proud as I’m sure you are.
As I see it the next big game will be Harrison and Etowah. Go Hoyas!

oh, FatMan. i know much about Wolves Football. I know that you can live anywhere in the state and play for buford (as long as you pay the county tax). Your team does not know truely how to be physical and the meaning of hard word. i also know that ya’ll have not had competition in some time. Westminster and Blessed Trinity will help you fall from those high rankings quick.. not only in football but in every sport. sorry

Realistic EP_fan - I have only been to Harrison for basketball, but how can their facilities be as bad as you say. I was just at Marietta last night and that bathromm underneath the visitors bleachers is as old school as it gets!!! The trough and the downward stream…my gosh… reminds me of the old Cleveland Browns municple stadium. Yuk…

I would like to commend the HHS coaches and players for the class they showed when the raider player #5 went down with an injury. The entire team immediately took a knee and every HOYA player except the 11 on the field got in a circle around their chaplain and prayed for the injured East Paulding player. He was down for quite a while. When he finally got up, their entire home stands, even the rowdy green students, stood up and cheered for him. This is CLASS.

Thank you for the compliment to the Harrison players and coaches. I think you will find that is something they routinely do when a player, no matter what team, goes down with an injury. They understand what the game is about and that in the long run it is just a game. This is coming from a parent who once watched his son be carted from the field in an ambulance after first being strapped to a back board with his head immobolized in a neck brace. Fortunately my son was not seriously hurt and in fact now plays a major role in the Harrison offense and defense. It is a scary situation and the prayers hopefully helped. It was great to see the young man get up and walk off under his own power.
Thanks again. Your kind words are appreciated.

QB and Line play hurt East. Mainly I just wish our fans would shut up and let the kids play, we talk on here more then any team in the state and for no reason. Shut up with all the BS talk of the cannon and the boneyard. Give it a rest. We are a sound and above average football team playing in a watered down region. Facts are facts. We have playmakers on offense but with a inept QB who can’t throw it in the ocean it doesn’t help. I’m glad Reid pulled the starter, he has been a burden all year moving this offense. Defense has won most of our games along with a strong running game. The backup that went in is more of a runner but still threw the ball better then the starter and actually got the offense moving the ball down the field.

wildmanhoya I gave Harrison nothing but praise for their win last night, also stated that they were outplayed! primearly by Robbie Goodhigh, but thats what good players do. The only argument that I have is you say that they “hung a convincing victory” In all my years of playing football, and Coaching I have never herd of a win being convincing when the outcome was still in question with less than 5 min to go, I could be wrong so dont get your feathers razzled.. but I left with a lil less than 6 min to go. score was 21-10 and from what i was told East scored another TD to make it 21-16 before Harrison scored to win 28-16. if this is true although it is a quality win, not to take anything away from the hoya as I had stated before, it is not convencing, never the less we can argu opnions all day.. point is we lost yall won. But referring to the better team issue. being my opinion East has a more complete team, made to many mistakes last night turnovers as well as nurmours missed takles (proops to Robbie) and the Hoyas did what good teams do they made the raiders pay. All in all both teams should finish 9-1 its not gonna be easy by no means but they should, but I think East will go deeper into the playoffs. The whole Redneck Raider issue is in good fun I was not complaining! just asking a question, they were chanting it off and on throught the game I never said nor implyed someone said it on here. Good luck to the Classy Hoyas thanks for the prayers when we had a man down! Hope we meet again soon!

To BigPapi,,, you’ve been to the Marrietta trough’s,,,,,,,cool,,,,now imagine waiting in line in the mud for 2 porta potties. All I meant was that realtively speaking Harrison’s visitor facilities are atrocious.
* To Tim *…you saw Anderson move the club in the second half true, but I’m tired of people dogging Jesse(Groover). He has put this team on his back several times this year with gutsy play, timely throws, and good running. Is he perfect, no but does a pretty good job as a HS QB. Anderson is definitley a change of pace and different type of athlete and Coach Reid feels a better chance of coming back with him in the game than Jesse. Only thing is we quickly become two one dimensional with him in the game. My suggestion is for Irdis to keep his mind on the team goals, get to class, and then perhaps he’d be able to grasp the entire offense(not just 4 plays), and be able to finaly take advantage of the talent he has been given.
TO I Bleed Actually you are wrong about the sequence of events. Harrison scored and made the score 28-10, before EP came back and got a very late TD on a 65 yrd play. If Goodhigh had still been in the game that play mostly likely would have been stopped also. Ed Casanave needed to play big last night and quite honestly when Groover put the ball in a catchable position twice in the first half, he was no where to be found. Basically our 6’3” D-1 WR was intimadated by the 5’9” GoodHigh all night long.
Lastly….hats off to two players of the game…Harrison- Goodhigh obviously..and for EP……dual awards to #1 Gonoz for his heart and ferocious hitting, and #32 Brown,,,some of his best running todate……Goat award: EP coaching staff for 1) For abandoning the running game with Brown and Hassan too early (JB only had 6 carries). 2) For not having the full offense available to Iridis, and 3) For not kicking a FG after a 70 yrd drive in the 3rd/4th qtr that would have brought it to two within two scores, that as it turns out, if the defense could have made another stop would have been the difference.
Either way,,,hard fought HS football game, lots of heart and lots of class by both teams, and I agree about the class showed during the injuries…EP kids and coaches need to learn from the example Harrison showed. Take a KNEE guys.
Too long of a post…….yes, but I only post a couple times a week and 4-5 times a day like some.

I just want to say that I went to the Camden game. It was the first game I was able to attend all year due to my work schedule. They might have won but they started very sloppy. Too many dumb penalties, turnovers and a couple of busted plays. If they had been playing a decent team it would have cost them. They had 2 touchdowns called back due to stupid penalties. They also missed two extra points. And I have an issue with kicking an onside kick up by 14 in the first quarter. What’s up with that?
I left at the end of the first quarter. It is hard to sit and watch a non competitive game like that. I’ll be back for the playoffs.
Camden better clean up their act or they will be out in the first round. Just being honest! Go CATS!!

Homet, how many times have you seen Harrison play this year? what are you basing your coments on. Imagine this, East is not the best team that we have played this year.Peachtree ridge would not give up a score to East. we scored 13, and that was the hardest points we have put on the scoreboard all year. I read comments all week about how we just got passed Woodstock, all I will say, is wait and see. Realistic Fan. I’ll bet last Thursday you did’nt think on Sat. that you would be blogging about Port-a potties. Give me a break, Yall all start your post with something about class, and respect, and our good team. then you come with your excuses and complaints. We also already knew that our fan base was bigger than yours, the student section is bigger and better, and the COB, blows away that joke over there that yall call the boneyard. Bleed silver, Your comments about the game said it all when you said you left with 6 min. to go in the game, you dont leave a GOOD game with time on the clock, It looked like about 1000 of the maybe 1800 went with you.

Lets see a game in which one team was leading 28 - 10 with only a couple of minutes left is convincing in my book.
The score never got to 21 - 16 as you state. As Hoyadawg also confimred the score was 28 - 10 when EP got a late score with maybe 40 or seconds left. After we recovered the onside kick we only had to take a knee once so I am quite certain my timeline is correct. One other thing, if the game was close and the outcome was in doubt as you imply how come you left with six minutes left? Perhaps you had a personal reason which is cool and would be understandable yet if not, why leave?
With all that said, it is a gorgeous Sunday morning so have a great day. Thanks again for the comments about how our players, coaches and fans behaved when your young man was down on the kickoff. When it gets down to it they are all high school kids and we pray for all of them. Have a great day and rest of the season.

Ok lets try to stop the East and Harrison bashing long enought to get an answer: WHAT is the tiebreaker format IF East, Etowah, and Harrison finish 9-1????!!!!
Now, I, if you read my post, think Harrison was very classy. Great respect and YES the “redneck raider” chant was loud and EVERYONE heard it so to play dumb lessens the fun of the chant. However, just part of the atmosphere and I thought it was great. Harrison was the best team Friday night and that is why they are region leaders. Now, if truth be told the visiotrs facilities at Harrison are horrible and worse we have seen since maybe Pebblebrook last year. Maybe something to address with all the revenue you bring in(Friday’s take was probably awesome). I am not bashing Harrison but these facilities havent improved in the 17 years or so the school have been there and thats a shame. Build some damn bathrooms people! Conccession stand prices on the other hand were AWESOME!!! The people running them were also awesome. Enjoyed our visit as a whole and cant wait to see our region get some respect in state!! Move over Gwinnett your years at the top in NORTH Georgia are O V E R!!!

Even though I’m an EP fan I am probably the most even keeled of the bloggers we have here. If you don’t want compliments because you “aleady know you are classy” I guess that just in and of itself kinda contradicts what I said. Like I it was a class act by the team, coaches and MOST of the fans/students. I’m thinking now that you are falling in that ‘other than most category now’.
As far as the facilities, It was not an ‘excuse’ what so ever. Merely and observation or if you want to call it a complaint ok. It is just a bit ironic that a school that can afford field like that could at least run some speaker wire and speakers, along with having running water and restrooms on the visitor sidelines. Suggestion, if you are an influencer at all at HHS, do something about it and get out there and at least hook up the PA system.
Lastly, If you really want to see some class all the way around and the facilities to match,,,,take a trip to Jaybo country, and see how TCC runs things. Outstanding all the way around.

Don’t worry…I am still around and yes reading the post…Simply moving on…
Harrison game is over but here’s my prediction for the way the Region ends up…
East 9-1, Etowah 9-1 (Beating Harrison), Harrison 8-2 (losing to McEachern in an upset, then losing to Etowah)**
Either way EAST would be VERY proud to have a 9-1 record in it’s first year back in AAAAA play, since a # 1 or # 2 spot in the region gives you home playoff games (feel free to correct me if this not right)
But regardless EAST has the hardest schedule left with both Kennesaw Mtn. & Woodstock left to play. (At least they are both at “THE BONEYARD”) Who knows how this thing shakes out but it appears at least that winning one of these two SHOULD guarantee a playoff spot…

HoyaDawg, I can appreciate what you were referring to, and appreciate also you reply. Let’s do move on. My concern now is EP having a hang over and losing to both KMHS and Woodstock, finishing 7-3. Not sure but I still think EP would be guaranteed at least a playoff spot given they beat Cherokee on Halloween night at there facility. Am I right or wrong on that assumption?

Homet, my prediction of the region. Harrison 10-0, Etowah 8-2, east 8-2, Harrison has the hardest schedule left with Et, Mc, and Mrtta. You still have no respect for Harrison. You say we lose to two teams that yall beat. Confims my thought that your earlier remarks about us being the best team, was a bunch of BS. Just looked it up and answered my own question. Looks like if EP must win 2 of the next 3 to guarantee itself a playoff spot. Of they go 7-3 they could be eliminated from a playoff spot all together if things play out how they could. In that case it looks like it would be Harrion and Etowah then KM, Woodstock and EP all with 6-3 conference records. In that case Woodstock gets by virtue of having beat both KM and EP, and I’m guessing KM gets the nod over EP either because of its head to head win or the fact that their non-region game was a win over 5AAAAA-Pope and EP’s was over 4AAAA-Rome.
Pessimistic,,,maybe, but it just means EP really needs to put last Friday behind it quickly, and not get caught up in the Homecoming festivies, and get ready for a rough game against KMHS this Friday. Lose that one and it most like would come down to the Woodstock game being the one that decides if EP makes the playoffs or not.

HOYADAWG - Humility is a good thing. I was humble after our defeat to “EAST”. Worse for myself and our fans, we had a bye week to dwell on that loss even longer . Fortunately the bye was timely for our team. We are relatively healthy and focused, and it showed as we spanked Marietta at their place, first time ever.I know you think because “EAST” beat us by 3 and you beat “EAST” at your place, you should have no problem with Etowah. HA’ Fly high Etowah, we may be under the radar now, but when all is said and done we are “America’s Eagles”!

Congrats on that, but I understand your concerns, you have your hands full!

DOC That is good to know that they didnt play their starters past the second quarter. How could they even play a team like Savanah if they are that much of a disadvantage? I dont see how they could even be paired up. Why dont they hook them up with some 2A teams like Buford does up here? Buford has many players and are in Gwinnett, yet they play a bunch of 2A and 3A teams. Just dont see how they could do that to those boys.
Mistermak was it that bad? I cant see Camden doing that. I am not a Camden hater and have said several times I was excited to see them play in the dome at the beginning of the year, after seeing them play last year against Grayson. I thought they looked a little sloppy in the first half of that game vs. Norcross, and thought Norcross had a chance. Norcross has prove time and time again this year they are not a second half team. You know, they really didnt kill Grayson last year by any means. If you were there, you would have seen Grayson beat them selves up by our offense throwing balls right into their defenses hands. Our Defense only gave up 7 points to them. Im sort of glad people over look these things, it make Grayson look easy and when it comes down to the actual game, it could be a little shocking.

Sorry I wasn’t here yesterday, but I have my son this weekend and I would rather spend time with him than blogging with all you miscreants. (get a job HOMET!) Anyway, it’s naptime for the 2-year-old so I thought I would hit on a few things.
I don’t believe that is the case. According to the GHSA tiebreaker, if three team are tied and can’t determine a winner based on head-to-head (ie, all three teams have beaten each other) then the first tiebreaker is percentage against in-class (AAAAA) schools. Since Harrison played one more AAAAA game and won, they would have the tiebreaker and would be declared region champs. After that is settled, slots two and three would come back to head-to-head and East beat Etowah so EP would be No. 2 and Etowah would be No. 3.
Now, having said that, Region 5 by-laws may say something completely different, but my understanding is that the GHSA tiebreaker is being used, in that case, there is no such thing as a power-ranking like Bob stated. East would get the nod as No. 2, but not because of a power-ranking.
From the GHSA website: At any point in this process where a tie can be broken so that only two teams remain tied, consideration of head-to-head competition will be invoked.
Jeff Wheeler at Marietta HS is the region sect. and I will be giving him a call on Monday to determine all of the tiebreakers for the region, but I really don’t see it coming down to this in the region. But, I’ve been wrong before (right, hoyadawg?)
CHRIS I understand you have a job to do, and you must pick a team to win. You said you saw both of these teams play, and you chose East because they wanted it more. My quetion to you is,,,, do you really watch the games? I cant really type or spell all that well, but do you think AJC will give me your job, If I really want it more?
No, HoyaDawg, I don’t watch the games, I have a little elf sitting on my shoulder to tell me what happens. I just show up for the free food in the press box (great chili and brownies Friday night at the COB). Then on Wednesdays when I write my picks column, I am really just pulling names out of a hat. And if you really want long hours, and will work for less than I do, then my bosses might take you up on your offer to take over my job!
Thanks for picking against the Hoyas once again. You are turning into our 12th man. Keep up the good work by picking McCeachern next week.
Once again, glad I can help, but I think I would be fooling myself if i ever thought that on 3rd-and-12 with the game on the line any kids is going, “Man, I hope i make a big play so I can shut that Whitfield guy up.” What I do in my picks column is for the fans of the game and is a starting off point for debate. I try to be right (and my won-loss percentage is still pretty darn good) but people seem to think that I have a personal stake in these games that I really don’t.
Hey CHRIS, Now that you are going to fall off the “EAST” bandwagon, take a couple weeks to relax, regroup and get ready for Harrison at Etowah Nov 7th. Almost 21 days and counting……Tick…..
Oh, Lord, not another countdown clock! Et tu, Big Pappi?
This has been one of the best weeks on the blog that I can remember. Todd will have his state rankings out later tonight and we get to do it all over again this week.

They don’t? I thought they did. Just kidding. I know you are just stirring things up much like the rest of us nut cases, self included, on the blog. Thanks for all the great attention to the games and especially the harrison/EP game. As you know, it was a wild one at the Cob. Now just do the Hoya ntion a favor and pick against this week. Might be easy to do with all the injuries.

Roger, Camden have beaten Tift and WR last year. If 1-5A stay like it is,we will see NSWR in the second round. We have much respect for 1-5A, but we have beaten every team from over there before.

HoyaDawg ya’ll won be happy. The better team won Firday. It was an awesome atmosphere!! However, you are an elitist(If that is one time of me calling you a liar then your right I am calling you one) in your pre-game post, and if you say you didnt hear redneck raider-YOU ARE A LIAR and thats a fact, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!! NO one in the stadium didnt hear that, just move on it was funny. BTW, I did enjoy the chant it is what ball is about-Rivalries for the future. SORRY BIGBOB, I overlooked your post thank you so much.

Camden is a second half team. If you have watch them, especially in the first half of the season, you will know that. I think; they need to be better in the first half. If they don’t, they wii be fine.

DJ , I am proud of you for the new word that you learned, Elitist, and I am better than you, for I would never call someone a liar, when I was’nt sure, and I can promise you , if you are a man, you would’nt say that to my face. I am not tring to be funny, but the whole time, until yesterday, I have thought you were a woman. Either way I have written you off, and will never post, or respond to your ignorant self again. Chris, I must admit, that was pretty funny.I hope you enjoyed your time at the COB, no boneyard, but we do our best. We are so banged up, I might pick against us this week. I hope you did not have to pay for your food at Harrison, as you said you did somewhere else. Oh yea. Tell that elf to keep his eyes off the cheerleaders, and watch the game.

Thats what I’ve been trying to get my ep bud who don’t want to talk about his name(HOMET) to see. ep fans with all of their rehetoric about loading the cannon and as you said, boneyard talk is why soo many on the blog dislike ep….I said that from the beginning of this season…just shut up and let your team play!!! Again, great post Tim, I agree with your perspective!!

* To Jaybo *
Not all EP fans are the same, please remember that. I”ll always promise to be objective in my commentary and be respectful of others.
There are some EP fans that have perhaps gotten a bit over excited, and mostly like because it has been many many years of poor coaching and lackluster talent up until the last 3 years. I agree that there are some EP fans that need to get some perspective, but there are plenty of us that have it.
I talk about the team and the coaching primarily, and not about the cannon or the boneyard etc. I like the entire game atmosphere and experience. We are proud of what we have as a team and a facility. Jaybo, you should and are equally as proud of yours.
Best of luck and remember, don’t lump us all into the same bucket,,,,,because I recall some pretty nasty comments from TCC blogers last year….no not you, but others

Harrison fans dont get me wrong. As a whole you were awesome and treated us very well. I think you will win the region and hopefully several of us from 5 AAAAA can win a few games. No North Cobb this year guys whoever wins!! HoyaDawg is just a pompus a$$ and I know the majority of you are good people fom 5 miles down the road. I dont mind the good fun and ribbing that goes on here, I just cant stand people who say something and then either argue what “I really meant”, or claimed they didnt hear something that 10,000 others heard. That is when fun becomes crazy , man up Hoyadawg!! Since I know you wont respond, making you a liar AGAIN good luck in the playoffs-I really mean that-you have an awesome team !!

If the above statement refers to HoyaDawg saying he did not hear rednack bashing chants I stand by my man HoyaDawg. These chants supposedly took place well before the game during warm-ups and I can say, FOR A FACT, HoyaDawg was not in the stadium until just a few minutes before kick-off. HoyaD,
My investigative juices are flowing…hell aint got nothing else to do, don’t want to watch Seattle and Tampa Bay!!! I went back and read I bleed black and silver posts and I noticed something….I have been reading homet’s posts since the TCC game last year. I know how he thinks an writes. I bleed black and silver sounds just like homet…same theme and tendencies…Homet loves to come up with excuses, I bleed B&S does too. Homet said that TCC wasn’t a complete team last year, but had only two real players(Smiley#40 and Williams #1), said that about your #21, I bleed B&S talks along the same line. I bleed B&S said that ep was the more complete team and would go deeper in the playoff…that is homet’s writing ideology all day long!!!! Finally, Homet is hiding with nothing to say just like eastbeast…b/c they are one in the same with I bleed B &S…and I bleed wants to claim he was a player and coach…ha, ha thats funny!!!
Homet,
Let me tell that you dude that you are a joke and a fraud!!! Don’t insult my intelligence like that!!! You have been exposed with yo fake azz!!!! That’s why you wont respond to my question. Let me be honest, I was rereading posts last week and I started noticing trends in the way you and other ep posters were writing and thats why I asked you about the origin of your name to see what you would say…and I be dag, my hunch was right!! Please, do me a favor, don’t ever direct another post to me again…I dont dialogue with weak azz fakes like youself. Man you need help…you aint got nothing better to do with your time than come up with blog names and play games…!!!

I’m really not sure if it is DJ, but it sure seems odd that this person was out to get me from the beginng of the week. It was that bad in Camden friday night. Like I said I only stayed for the first quarter because even as bad as Camden was playing they were still up 26-0 at that time. They had one long TD run called back due to holding and I think it was the very next play another long TD run called back for a block in the back on a player trailing the play by 15 or 20 yards as the ball carrier was crossing the goal line. 2 missed extra points due to bad snaps. 2 fumbles. All this against a team that had 24 players dressed. Johnson would have a hard time beating itself in practice. Camden just looked very sloppy. You cant play like that against good teams and expect to win. And I still don’t understand why they kicked an onside kick up by 14 in the first quarter. It was not pretty. Coach Herron doesn’t usually do things like that. the other coach was not happy and I don’t blame him. Stuff like that will come back on you some day. They need to clean up their act. I will say that the last 2 games several starters were suspended so maybe that was rust they were kicking off. Our last region game could be a test. Bradwell is actually doing ok this year so far. 4-0 in the region but that is not saying much and we all know that! I couldn’t believe they had 24 players dressed.

OK…Just so you don’t have a complete BREAKDOWN…First, I am just one person on this blog…No connection to the others, if they have in some fashion “copied” my posting style in your mind I don’t know what to say about that.
Second, I was not “In hiding” just a beautiful Sunday, Falcons on a bye week SO and we put the top down on the car and went to the mountains for a festival in Dahlonaga. GREAT TIME by the way!!!
Third…as for the name, I wish I could give you something meaningful about it but nothing comes to mind…HOMET is simply that, just a name to post under!!! I am a Paulding County resident and have a daughter that attends EAST so we of course follow and pull for EAST. THAT’S IT JAYBO….hope that clears it up for you.

To HOYADAWG
It will be interesting to see what Chris finds out about the “tie” situation because unless one of the teams really loses focus, I really see EAST, HARRISON, & ETOWAH sitting at 9-1 come the end of the season.
You posted earlier that Harrison has the hardest remaining schedule…How can you say that when EAST has to play BOTH Kennesaw Mtn. & Woodstock!!! That is BY FAR the hardest of the schedules!!!
By Chris Whitfield
October 20, 2008 8:55 AM | Link to this
For those wondering about the Region 5-AAAAA tiebreaker should Etowah, East Paulding and Harrison all finish with 9-1, 8-1 records, I just got off the phone with region secretary Jeff Wheeler and here is the breakdown:
If all three finish with the same record, then Harrison would be the No. 1 seed because their non-region win came against a AAAAA team. Then, East Paulding would be No. 2 because of head-to-head win over Etowah. Eagles would be No. 3. Long way to go, but some of you fans wanted a definitive answer.
