TURNER COUNTY #9! Wheew Heew!! Hope we make it to Wilcox with only one loss..that will be a war…but first things first…Telfair…you have to go down HARD!! GO Rebels!! Also hope Crisp County Handles Worth..the only team we have lost to! I also think Loundes spanks Valdosta! Everyone talks about Loundes but Cairo is out there strong also!! Camden County is very strong too!!

Hey GHS student - Please keep us updated from the game if you can. The big scoreboard we usually post Friday nights on our index page is down this evening (we’ll try to have it back next Friday) and it would be great to keep up with who’s winning at Brookwood-Grayson.

Otherwise, look for these gamers later tonight on ajc.com…

Brookwood-Grayson
Cedar Grove-McNair
Milton-Walton
Washington-North Atlanta
SW DeKalb-Chamblee
Mill Creek-Peachtree Ridge
Kell-Centennial
Villa Rica-Banneker
Blessed Trinity-Lovett
Starr’s Mill-Whitewater

… and don’t forget to check out our State, Metro and Atlanta/City roundups later tonight, too.

We’ll turn on the photo links listed above as those come in. Druid Hills-Columbia should be first since it’s the 5:30 early game today. As always, all info/photos subject to change.

Chat away, keep it clean and have fun! Can you believe it’s already Week 7? Time really flies.

To all the fans attending the P’tree Ridge - Mill Creek game tonight, don’t forget that it is a “Pink-Out” tonight in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They’ll also be selling pink spirit wear at the fame to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. It should also be a heckuva game. So wear your pink, and GO LIONS!!!!!

OK IT”S GAME ON!!!

The RAIDERS win at North Cobb in a game that should never have been this close!!! It sounds like Harrison had a nail biter and the STAGE IS SET!!!

Next friday at Harrison…the RAIDERS from EAST against those unleashed HOYA’S…The Battle of the Unbeatens!!! The chase for the Region championship!!! If this one doesn’t fill the stands nothing will.

Our RAIDER fans filled the visitors section at North CObb and spilled over down the fence line. The concession stand ran out of drinks and hot dogs. Be ready next week Harrison…our side will be large and loud!!!!

Someone forgot to tell Brookwood they were just suppose to lay down and lose. They held Grayson to just 10 points. The end of the game was a revisit of the Parkview game. Grayson around the 10 of opponent with 40 something seconds left and kneels it 2 or 3 times rather than score. Class, running clock out, or just rubbing it in on other team that they will not have a chance to to score again? Bottom line - Grayson won and should have, would have, could have scored more. Congrats—-Region 8 Champions, Undefeated season hopefully…….I predicted right. Go Rams!

Chapel Hill beat Mundy’s Mill 41-7. Chapel Hill is 5-1 after about 5 wins total in the last 3 seasons combined. New coach (OC from Sequoyah)has really turned this program around. Obviously we are not going to win State or anything, but its still something to be proud of.

can someone tell me why a fumbled punt that roles into the reciving team’s endzone and recovered by the reciving team is a touchback and not a saftey. GHSA rules state that”Any kick crossing the goal line is automatically a touchback; kicks cannot be returned out of the end zone.” it was a fumbled kick, shouldent that be a saftey?

That was a lack of class by the Grayson goats against Brookwood, But thats how it is i guess when you get beat by them for multiple years in a row. Wildcat fan, I agree with you 100%!! I watched that game on t.v and was amazed at the QB play from Valdosta!!! I turned to my buddy and said “that can’t be the best QB that Valdosta has”!! Valdosta would have had a better chance to win this game with a better QB. There has to be a story behind this kid starting….!!!I don’t care what level it is, the words of NFL coach Herman Edwards ring true…”you play to win the game!” Valdosta didnt wanna win with that QB!

Milton: great game! You should be proud of your effort tonight. Walton just got things sorted out at the half and was able to slow Milton’s running attack and they were able to get the ball moving themselves. I said to somebody before the game, “Did we schedule too tough of an opponent for homecoming?”. I think this will certainly be a wake up call for Walton. Great comeback Raiders!

In Yo Face Chris…. Robbie proved you wrong.Harrison 17 - Woodstock 15 Go Hoyas!!!

I’m proud of Robbie. It has been a pleasure getting to know him and his family a little bit this season through our recruiting contacts, and glad to see that he is having a great season. That being said, IN MY FACE? Harrison was undefeated and ranked in the top 10 and playing a team with two losses already. Someone, not going to mention any names, but it rhymes with BoyaHawg, said I was out of my mind. Seems like 17-15 and it took a last-second field goal block was a much better game than a lot of Harrison fans expected. Congrats to Harrison for the win and now we can really get to the game that everyone in the region has been waiting for.

Was at the Walton/Milton game tonight and sitting in the press box, we all just knew that game was over when Walton made it 20-17. You could just see the slumped shoulders on the other side. Some observations: Ed Dudley is one of the best coaches in the state. I know that it has been said before, but I really believe that he consistently gets the most out of the talent on the field at Walton. Milton just needs to learn how to win the big game, and this loss to Walton in no way takes away from the job that coach Scott Walker and his staff have done over at Milton.

Now, that being said, Toney Williams is a beast at Milton. I thought the gaudy numbers that he put up earlier in the year were just an indication of the competition, but even against the best, Williams gets his, and after four years at Tennessee, he should be top notch.

Chris Whitfield: I probably saw you. I had to go up to the pressbox right before the 2nd half to meet someone and walked through there. I agree Williams is good, but I think Boydston is right there. Walton’s best players are on the line of scrimmage: #34 David Paulsen, #23 Brandon Burroughs, and #63 Kyle Woestmann(he’s only a junior…possible ‘09 Super 11???). I say that with no disrespect to Rayburn, Boydston, or Price Garrett.

Even though Coffee lost, it looks as if the Trojans may finally be legitimate.

I don’t think anyone could obectively say NWR is the better team. Obviously another case of a great team being beaten by a really great program. But not a better team.

All Trojan fans should be proad of their team this year. May much shame be felt by the fans that were streaming out to the parking lot with eight minutes left in such a closely contested game.

I feel this was a game in which the Twelth man could have made much more of a difference.

Coffee does have a large, loyal, enthusiastic fan base but, when the players see the aisles and sidelines filling with folks leaving, it just has to affect their confidence.

The doubters were proven wrong. Those big-hearted, talented kids came back and almost pulled it out.

Hopefully, next time the fair weather fans will just stay home.

And good ridiance

Reeze

Very gracious of you.

I agree with you. Coffee was out-coached by the NSWR staff. I also feel the halftime score had an effect—The fact that Coffee was ahead and had momentum may have been to their detriment.

All season, against good teams that is, Coffee has had to react and adjust at halftime. And the coaching staff had done a good job at it up until last night.

Throwing Bacon back in the shotgun and turning him loose to read and react was a good adjustment by the NSWR staff. The Coffee staff had adjusted to NSWR’s first half plan and faced something totally different in the second half.

Great game though. Outstanding heart and talent was shown by all.

Yeah….. I noticed your fans. Great people too. Friendly and encouraging. No jawing at all that I saw.

Bacon is truly exciting to watch and of obvious outstanding individual talent. Given that, I was more impressed with NSWR as a team. Like Coffee—they hung in there.

I sometimes just don’t know what to think about 1-AAAAA. So much talent from the kids—the coaching staff—the fans-the atmosphere.

What great fun.

Hey SGT. CHRIS: Apparently you are not from gwinnett county. No, Dacula has never won a STATE championship. They have never had a team good enough to win a state championship. But Coach Maloof has won 6 region championships in 17 years at Dacula. They have moved from Class A all the way to Class AAAAA during his tenure and have won region championships in A, AA, AAA, and AAAAA. I was saying that Dacula doesn’t get the respect they deserve around gwinnett county. Some people acted like Dacula beating Parkview was completely shocking and my point is that it wasn’t. Dacula is 20-1 in their last 21 region games in class AAAAA against gwinnett opponents. That was my point. Gwinnett people just always seem to overlook Dacula as a very good football program.

Dont fell bad Dacula, its taken Grayson a while!

Bad behavior on 8 Grayson High School students part, messing up Brookwoods field, what dweebs! you cant judge a school of 3500 students on the behavior of 8, but people will. I dont know the details of that, or the extent of the damage, but what a bad decision on their part. Apologies from the parents of Grayson High school!

Now lets move on, Congrats Grayson football team for the win, it was a hard one, but you did it. I contribute the win to the defense as usual. Good job Ian Penberton, you were the only one to get any yard on Brookwood, they shut down #28 Herrel Gunn, and # 5 James Earl Jones of Grayson. One thing Grayson lacks is a dominating full back? I believe if Grayson plans on beating Lowndes in the playoffs, Coach Conn had better open up that offensive playbook and put in a real punishing fullback.

Reminder, the run with Horne and Ian Pemberton did not work against Camden last year and will fail them again. Going up against a team like Camden or Lowndes is like stepping up to almost the next level, and we all know a 5” 4” wonderful running back from any high school team in the country, probably want get it. Grayson should also consider some short passes instead of those long no were ones. I saw a few of those in the Dome game and they worked!

Good luck Grayson in the playoffs, Im sure things will improve as the weeks go on.

OK HoyaDawg & wildmanhoya

We All got the match-up we wanted…Friday night is ON!!! This one is gonna be fun!!!

A note from the North Cobb game last night…The game needs to be decided on the field BY THE PLAYERS…Bad (or undecisive) calls by ref crews that either miss calls or just flat BLOW them are bad all around for the game. Towards the end of the game a kick was dropped / muffed whateved you want to call it, deep in the North Cobb end by a North Cobb player. He TOUCHED it, it HIT HIM… as he dives for the ball EAST players AND North Cobb players all go for the ball. It rolls INTO the end zone still being fought for (remember touched in the field of play by a North Cobb player). It is finally recovered in the end zone by a North Cobb player who is downed there by EAST players. The ref standing closest to the play signals correctly SAFETY…but NO another ref OVERRIDES this call and places the ball on the 20 yard line and gives it BACK TO NORTH COBB!!!

With 4 to 6 minutes still left in the game and the score this could have been HUGE had North Cobb moved down the field and scored it would have been an awful way for a game to be decided. The EAST “D” tightened up after this and held then the offense ran out the clock for the win!!!

Ok I feel better after venting!!!

Now we get to visit the “COB”…the home of the “HOYAS”…I hope ya’ll got LOTS of seating and are ready for this crowd!!! Between the Harrison folks & the “travlin’ RAIDER NATION the “COB” is gonna be rockin!!!

It’s AAAAA ball…I know it’s a cliche’ but you better be ready to play EVERY friday night, as some of these games are showing. Woodstock obviously took Harrison right to the wire and North Cobb proved to be a handful for EAST last night. HOWEVER, see my other post and you will see the score SHOULD NEVER have been as close as it ended up. They got a kid ( #5 ) who is QUICK and cuts great. He broke several long runs and scored a kick-off return for a TD to keep North Cobb in the game. Also # 85, who has just committed to Georgia, played all over the field all night. He CAME TO PLAY!!! I think they said he is 6’4” / 240lbs…WHEW!!!

CHAMPIONSHIPS WILL BRING RESPECT. YOU CAN WIN A MILLION REGULAR SEASON GAMES, BUT IF YOU DONT PRODUCE IN THE PLAYOFFS, WHAT KIND OF RESPECT DO YOU THINK YOURE GOING TO GET?

Clarke Central-Salem was one of the best finishes I’ve witnessed in many years. CC was down 11 going into the 4th quarter, then got a TD with 8:00 to go. Salem stopped the Gladiators twice on downs in the fourth, but CC came back and drove 80 yards in about 1:40, getting the game winner on a 15-yard pass on 3rd-and-10 with 6 seconds left. Dimitri Holes a flanker for CC, had 15 catches for 201 yards and two TDs, including the game-winner. Great game to watch!!

Homet, the play that you are talking about on the muffed punt, the officials made the correct call. If the north Cobb player did not have posession of the football, and it went into the end zone, and was recovered by N cobb. it is a touch back and goes to the 20. If EP recovers it, it is a touchdown. We had the exact play happen to us in the Woodstock game .Woodstock got the ball on the 20. Our fans did’nt like it, but it was correct.LOAD THE CANNON, GET OUT THE BELLS,PUT THE BOYS IN THE TRUCK, AND COME ON OVER TO OUR PLACE FOR SOME FOOTBALL FUN. THE DAWGS HAVE BEEN UNLEASHED!

VikingDad, Coffee fans had no choice. They had to head for the exits down 17-7. To Coffee’s credit, their kids did not quit and their coaches kept fighting. The score was closer than the game (until Coffee reminded everyone that the game was not over).

I really thought that the Lowndes-Northside game was a tale of two games with the Vikings dominating the 2nd game/half. The truth be told, Coffee should have scored more than 7 points in the 1st half. The truth is also that Northside should have score much more than 14 points in the 2nd half. The Eagles really controlled the 2nd half and took the Coffee crowd out of it.

It was really a sloppy game. I agree with earlier posts that Coffee brings balance. I just believe it is very challenging to pass against Northside with any consistency. They do have balance and they are certainly capable of beating anyone. The Trojans are a team that can get you if they are executing well.

I will go on record and say that I would not be surprised if up to 3 Region 1AAAAA teams reach the quarterfinals or even the semifinals. Coffee is good and must be respected.

I would concede the “posession” issue but at one point the North Cobb player appeared to control the ball, even to “push the ball” towards the end zone. Obviously the first official thought the same thing (and he was literally hovering over the play) and called it a safety. Just frustrating when these “reversal” of calls seem to happen more and more frequently lately. At least it didn’t effect the outcome of the game.

From what you describe, HoyaDawg is correct and that sounds like a muff to me. When you think of possession, think of a catch on a pass play. He has to have possession of the ball. If possession never is established, then it is a muff and that sounds like the correct call.

Sassy

I never said otherwise.

HoyaDawg You think that the EP fans have been salivating enough over this one. I can’t wait to see this one. I hope it lives up to the advanced billing.

Valdosta HS’s season is on the brink. The Wildcats are now 1-3 in Region 1AAAAA. Valdosta has lost 3 of its last 4 games an lose the tie-breaker to Warner Robins. Lowndes, Northside, Tift County, and Coffee are in the driver’s seat.

If Valdosta loses one more game, they are most likely out of the state playoffs for second time in three seasons. These are interesting times in Valdosta.

Makes you almost laugh when you read AJC sportswriters proclaiming that the Region is “overrated.” Interesting, when there is a chance that both Valdosta and Warner Robins (the two most decorated programs in the history of Georgia football) will both fail to even reach the state playoffs out of the region.

Thanks, EAST has looked GREAT so far this year…This team is well coached & deep in talent. They have one of the largest travlin’ fan bases you will find in this area and the atmosphere at “THE BONEYARD” on game night just has to be experienced to understand!!!

They are currently 6-0 for this year and have a 22 game regular season winning streak going…This season still has Harrison, Kennesaw Mtn., Cherokee & Woodstock to go and ANYTHING can happen but I would be lying if I didn’t say 10-0 would be GREAT 4 weeks from now!!!

Friday night is going to be the real test…Harrison is the CLASS of 5A AAAAA and the team EVERYONE has at some point to beat. This week EAST gets it’s chance!!

To clear the air on the winnersville classic when the valdosta boy went down with 3 min in the half that killed most of the energy in the stadium. we waited 40 min to start back up. The ems took their time getting the boy the proper treatment. when he went down lowndes was on the 12 getting ready to score. after that scare NEITHER team played with the same intensity. not saying neither team wanted to win but the mood did change…and just in caseanyone has anything else to say in 2005 when valdosta went 1-9 and we won state,we only won by 7against the cats…it is called a rivary game for a reason

Drock08, the more appropriate question is what would make a person pick Coffee over Northside. Seriously. What information would lead you to believe that Coffee woudl beat Northside.

It does not seem logical that one would come to a conclusion that Northside would lose to Coffee. Interesting.

Our Eagles move forward. We have an open week and then we play Tift County on Thursday, October 23 in Warner Robins. The Blue Devils have great tradition and I am happy that Coach Conrad Nix has a week to prepare for them. Heck, this Region 1AAAAA thing is fun. We have a big game every week. Every week is spirit week at Northside.

We beat Valdosta, beat crosstown foe Houston County, lost at Lowndes County (in a game that the AJC claims is the 2nd biggest regular season game in Georgia history), then at Coffee, and next up Tift County (then Warner Robins and Colquitt County). This is fun!

I must admit playing in 1-AAAAA is a lot more interesting than playing in the old region 2. That region sucked it up something good every year. NHS, WRHS, Westside, and HoCo were legitimately good teams every year, but that region was too soft to make up ready to go deep in the playoffs. I knew NHS would hold their own in this region, but you are right ENR, the strength of this region makes every week more important…no 50+ and 60+ point wins here huh? This team, with the experience of going deep into the playoffs the past few seasons , is going to be battle tested when the post season begins, and that will be important!

1AAAAA is where it’s at. Thought on previous blog titled 1AAAAA is best region but maybe not as strong as thought. I think if we could take any region in the state and 1AAAAA with the 1AAAAA #1 on that regions #1, #2 on that regions #2, etc. we would all find out just how strong 1AAAAA is and how distant is the #2 region. In fact, I would be willing to take the 8 teams of 1AAAAA and let them play the top 4 teams of any other 2 regions out there and even then I’ll take 1AAAAA to come out on top. 1AAAAA is going to make one serious statement in the playoffs this year. Possibly the 5th seeded team in this region would have won many of the other regions in the state. The SEC is the “region 1AAAAA of College football”. :-) Not the other way around.

The Lowndes-Valdosta Winnersville Classic is always the biggest game that the AJC doesn’t seem to hear about. Who else has held Lowndes to only 14 points and no score for an entire half? Last year the clock ran out on the cats just as they were threatening to beat the Vikes on their own field. Ask anybody around this town… Valdosta was tougher on us than than Northside. SGT. CHRIS: how hard is it to understand what I’m talking about. I have the utmost respect for the programs like Lowndes and Camden. I was talking about on a county level. You gave Camden’s record since ‘03. For your information, 1 of their losses was a home loss in the ‘05 state quarterfinals to Dacula. Dacula should not even be compared to programs like Lowndes, Camden, or Lagrange and I wasn’t doing that. But schools around our county like North Gwinnett and Norcross get talked about like they’re perennial state title contenders and it’s just not the case. I believe Norcross’ all-time record against Dacula is 1-5 and North Gwinnett’s is 3-7.

Shazam????? Northside faced a potential blowout? When? Where? You must be referring to Northside-Columbus or some Atlanta area middle school called Northside.

There was NEVER a risk of Northside getting blown out, especially by any program from DeKalb County like Tucker. We all saw who Marist violated Tucker’s talent ladened program. We should have know that the Tigers could not handle a wing T/option team. That takes discipline. Stop kidding yourself.

Yes, Northside trailed Tucker. That is called sticking to a game plan. We are a well-coached machine. We dance with the system that brought us here. We don’t go down a couple of touchdowns and hit any panic buttons.

Tucker ran a gimmick defense and crowded the box with sometimes as many as 10 players (a very silly approach to football). It was Pop Warner defense and we made some audibles and missed WIDE open receivers in the 1st half.

If you were actually at the Georgia Dome, as I was, you saw the easiest comeback in Georgia Dome history. Our receivers were so open it appeared that we were playing a middle school (as most metro Atlanta programs play like). Remember we went for a 4th down and goal by which the receiver dropped the pass (after a later Tucker hit). We scored 24 2nd half points. We could have scored about 38.

Shazam, if the band is dancing around in the stands and taking up 15 minutes of the halftime show with teenage girls in stripper gear, Northside is not losing to you…LET ALONE get blown out. GET REAL!

Dacula, do you believe that a part of the reason that Norcross and North Gwinnett get so much ink is because they have a recent history of their players being very highly rated players.

Look, I get your point. I live here in Atlanta (although I was raised in Warner Robins and I am a total homer for my alma mater, Northside).

I will say this. Dacula has been every bit as good as the aforementioned programs. Dacula has grown and competed at every level. Nonetheless, the fact remains that only 9 different metro Atlanta schools have ever won a large classification state championship in Georgia history. Three of those 9 are Gwinnett County schools (Parkview, Brookwood, & Peachtree Ridge). These schools are going to get publicity, just as Valdosta get ink. Heck, Valdosta is on the verge of missing the state playoffs for the 2nd time in 3 years. They still play on ESPN and their program is really not that good anymore.

Dacula is going to have to win a state championship or make a big run or as programs like Norcross and North Gwinnett does produce players that bring the top college programs in. I know that Dacula has produced some really great athletes. Even you would have to admit that programs like Norcross have really has some top tier talent.

The AJC is about selling papers. They don’t care about the wins and losses. They care about the storylines. A receiver signing at USC is a storyline. A top rated national QB is a storyline. You get my point.

Serious question, Jay. Many times I joke & tease you metro Atlanta guys about your weak programs that can not execute or hit. A SERIOUS exception to that rule is SW DeKalb. However, when does SWD ever play up to its potential? Why should these perennial underachievers be on anyone’s radar (you may include other programs like Norcross, MLK, and Stephenson).

Is there a program in the history of Georgia football that has done less with more than SWD? SWD should have a trophy case in their school’s lobby with state and national championship trophies. I have NEVER seen a team so athletic and talented at every skill position. To think that SWD has only won one state championship in their school’s history is a crying shame. Heck, SWD has had track and field rally teams that won the gold and silver medals. There is so much speed at that school it is crazy.

By the way, Stephenson and Martin Luther King HS are SWD, Jr. and SWD III. You can call Norcross, SWD, IV. The underachieving of major programs in this town is sad. From DeKalb County to Gwinnett to Paulding to Cobb up to Forsyth and down to Henry County this is a city of 5 million metro residents that can’t get it done on the big stage.

EAGLE NATION RISING: You hit the nail on the head. Flashy teams get the pub. Look at Florida: they lose at home to Ole Miss and then beat LSU and it looks good so they jump all the way up to No. 5 in the nation. My point is Dacula does a great job year in and year out because they don’t have the caliber players that N. Gwinnett and Norcross have and have consistently beat those programs when they have played. Dacula has been to at least the state quarterfinals in the playoffs 10 times in the last 20 years. I have never looked at a Dacula playoff loss and felt like they underacheived by losing to a team with less talent than they have. Dacula people are very proud of the young men that give 110% every Friday night and as long as that happens that’s all you can ask. SGT. CHRIS doesn’t seem to understand that as long as your team does the best they can year in and year out then you can still be proud.

To Sgt. Chris: My question to you would be have you ever watched SW DeKalb play a top team live? There is no team (not Valdosta…not Warner Robins…not Northside…not Lowndes…NO ONE in Georgia) that can honestly say that when SWD played a football game that, as a fan, everyone in the stadium did not hold their breath every SWD offensive play. I have NEVER seen a team with so many athletes. I have not even seen a team close.

I can confidently say (and I have no data to back this up) that SWD sent more players to high major programs in the 1990s (especially the 10 years window from the mid/late 1980s to the mid to late 1990s) than programs like Northside, Lowndes, and others have sent in their school history.

I can’t speak for Camden, who I have seen struggle mightily against Warner Robins area schools and have never blown me away with their talent (that is not meant as an insult…we are just comparing these guys to SWD. I would say that same about Northside compared to SWD). SWD has always been more athletic.

Again Sgt. Chris, if that band is dancing around during the game, taking up the entire halftime period as the crawl on the ground (by the way, SWD has one of America’s most entertaining HS bands), and the 16 year olds look like Cheetah girls, Northside is going to go win. Ask the fans of Tucker HS, who danced their big halftime lead away in the Georgia Dome. That band would not stop dancing as Northside was catching their team. It was hilarious!

Homet, do you really believe that EP would make the state playoffs if you guys were in Region 1AAAAA playing in HUGE stadiums with athletes everywhere and GREAT coaches? Do you really believe EP could go on the road and compete in Martin Stadium (Lowndes), McConnell-Talbert (Northside), or Gilbert Stadium (Camden County)…I am not asking about winning. Could EP even compete? Some of you Atlanta posters get so sensitive, yet the metro Atlanta teams rarely achieve. If you have any evidence to the contrary, please let me know.

Why would I believe that EP can get it done when the program has NEVER gotten it done? EP could not even beat Marist, let alone a real state power. EP is not the best program in Atlanta. That tells me that EP, like Valdosta, does not even reach the state playoffs in Region 1AAAAA.

As good as some of you guys believe you are in metro Atlanta, it is probable that SWD in the 1990s and the great Parkview run are the best teams ever fielded out of Atlanta. My guess is EP (or any of the other Atlanta teams that you guys believe are so good this season) is not even close to those great Parkview or SWD teams.

Until EP gets it done, we can assume that EP will do what every other metro Atlanta program has done (which is to not get it done year after year after year). End of story.

* To: HoyaDawg *

What was being refered to as far as revenge (not sure what it matters though), is that fact that back in 1998 and 1999, Harrison and EP played twice while Harrison was part of 5AAAA. Harrison won the games 61-13, and 49-7 respectively, so I guess the caller is somehow thinking that that past history is some how linked to the game this Friday night.

Makes no sense to me but I ‘believe’ that is the reference.

Personally…..I think it will be a heck of a game and regardless of the outcome I’d still bet on both teams losing a game this ‘big one’. If you look at it aside from South Cobb and apparently Cherokee you could probably toss a blanket over the rest of the region and it would be big enough to cover the point differentials on any given night. Both the Hoya’s and Raiders have some flaws and it will simply come down to who can execute better, and not make the crucial big mistake.
