AJC high school rankings: Valdosta wins game, loses ranking

Here’s the way it is …
Class AAAAA — Camden jumps Northside. … Valdosta is out of the rankings despite winning. … Over/under on Northside-Valdosta is 19.5 points. … North Gwinnett and Norcross replaced Valdosta and North Cobb in the rankings. … Also considered Stephenson. Almost considered East Paulding and Etowah.
Class AAAA — Mays jumps four spots to No. 4. … This class is hard to project. Too many unproven teams. The last team in my Top 5 to win state was Bainbridge in 1982. … Congrats to Westside’s Robert Davis on victory No. 346, which ties him w/ Dan Pitts for No. 2 in Georgia history.
Class AAA — Carver stays put at No. 2 despite loss to Northside. … It’s No. 2 Carver vs. No. 3 Baldwin this week. I like Carver in that. … The Grangers are back in the Top 10. … Cartersville nipped Thomson for the No. 10 spot.
Class AA — Thomasville becomes the first school in history to be ranked at 0-3. Nobody outside the Top 10 would’ve done better against Thomasville’s gauntlet of higher-class opponents. … Unlike AAAA, which is wide open, I feel pretty confident that the runner-up to Buford in AA will come from teams in the current Top 10.
A — Miller County joins the Top 10. Considered Johnson County & Bowdon.
