National rankings overemphasized?

Wesleyan forward Trey Thompkins spent last season traveling around the country with powerhouse Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. Thompkins, who has signed with Georgia, played with and against some of the best players in the nation last season as Oak Hill won a national championship.

Now Thompkins is having a solid season for the Wolves, ranked No. 2 in the state and a serious contender for the Class AA championship. But he believes winning a state title in Georgia will be a lot harder than what Oak Hill accomplished last season.

“The competition is Georgia is fierce,” he said Sunday night. “You got some top quality teams. On the national scale, some of those teams had one main guy and they got ranked nationally. There are some good teams here, and it is a different talent level.”

The big lesson is not to get too caught up in what national team your school has beaten, because it won’t matter next month, when the state playoffs begin.

South Atlanta coach Michael Reddick said he is preaching that lesson to his team. The Hornets are idle this week, before flying to Los Angeles Friday to take on Campbell Hall of California. When they return, South Atlanta will finish its region schedule before fighting through what should be an interesting Region 5-AAA tournament.

“Georgia is definitely one of the top states with loads of talent,” Reddick said. “We are trying to stay focused and let none of this go to our head. We respect all our opponents.”

Post up: Is too much emphasis being put on getting nationally ranked? Do fans value a victory against a supposedly nationally-ranked team better than beating a local team? Should teams just stay home and play each other?

Because of the discrepancy in talent in each Ga, talented teams must go outside the state to find good competition to help improve their skills and prepare for competition in the state playoffs. I wish there was a way to set up the classes to reflex a team’s skill level so that schools could play against their skill level during the regular season. Maybe just set up a super level and put the top 10 teams in the state and let them play more nationally ranked teams.

* I REALLY DONT THINK ITS A BAD THING FOR TEAMS TO FOCUS A LIL OF THEIR ATTENTION ON BEING NATIONALLY RANKED.* ITS A GOOD GOAL FOR THEM TO STRIVE FOR, ALTHOUGH THEY DO NEED TO CONCENTRATE ON IN-STATE TEAMS TOO. ITS JUST LIKE THE AP POLL IN COLLEGE BASKETBALL, YOU STRIVE FOR THE TOP 25, BUT ALSO WANNA WIN YOUR CONFERENCE. ONE THING I THINK IS A LIL OFF IS THE OVERALL NATIONAL RANKINGS. ME BEING FROM N.Y. I NEVER NOTICED HOW MUCH THEY FAVORED OUR TEAMS. MOST OF THE “SAINTS” (BENEDICTS, ANTHONYS, RAY’S..ETC.) ARE GOOD TEAMS.. BUT GA, AS WELL AS TEXAS, HAVE HAD SOME REALLY GOOD TEAMS OVER THE YEARS, THAT COULD EASILY COMPETE WITH THOSE PROGRAMS. GOOD EXAMPLE IS THE ATLANTA CELTICS WINNING THE 17UNDER AAU OVER THE SUMMER. THATS BASICALLY THE H.S. BRACKET RIGHT THERE ** THE ONLY SOLUTION I SEE, IS GA TEAMS STAYING CONSISTENT AND WINNING EVERY TOURNAMENT THEY GET A CHANCE TO PLAY IN.

FOR GEORGIA- THERE NEEDS TO BE A TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS WHEN THESE TEAMS WIN THERE CLASSES, AAAAA, AAAA,AAA, ETC.. THERE NEEDS TO BE ONE FINAL TOURNAMENT WITH THOSE TEAMS COMPETING FOR THE TITLE OF “STATE CHAMPION”

I do think there is too much hype put on nationally ranked teams. The same teams are ranked in the top ten every year. You can’t just assume those schools are the best teams out of thousands schools in the nation. There are many schools in Georgia that can beat those nationally paper ranked teams. One super star doesn’t make a winner or a champion. South Atlanta will find tougher competion in the Georgia state playoffs than the national schedule they are playing. I hope they play Jordan in the title game because they are talking a lot of trash. We would like to bring them back down to earth.

I think playing against national competition is a great thing as long as it does not interfere too much with class, playing the teams from other states not only helps players measure there talent against other states competition, but also helps college scouts to see if there players can handle talent outside of there state, and it helps to measure the quality of talent in a state. I know I like to see when Georgia teams do well in national tournaments because it shows how good of a basketball state Georgia has become. I don’t really agree with flying to California for one game, it would be fine for a few games in a tournament, but there is no point in just one game, especially when it doesn’t really count towards anything like a college cross country game would.

Rankings(national and state) are overemphasized period. I played for teams that were ranked in the top 5 in the state my junior and senior year. As high as # 2 my senior year and that season we didn’t make it out of the region playoffs.

Earlier this year I watched a game on ESPN2 featuring two nationally ranked teams. One was from Cali, the other I believe was from Ohio. I think what the young man from Wesleyan said is correct. A lot of these teams get ranked because they have one, maybe two outstanding players. I was not too impressed with these teams, didn’t see why they were nationally ranked. But the team from Cali had a really good player that’s going to UCLA next year.

hey Derrick,

Can you see Marietta competing with the powers of class 5-AAAAA? They have size in Seniors DeAndre Cannon (6’6), JC Ward (6’5), and Scott Bartlemay (6’6). As well as range in Bartlemay and Senior Stanley Jennings who combine for 6.4 3-pointers per game by themselves. Point Guard Chris Tanzy is a spark plug who was the key missing in the early to losses, the Devils are 12-0 with him. Stanley Jennings actually outscored Trae Golden in the game against McEachern with 25 points and 6 3-pointers. They also are undefeated on the road with a good win over Harrison but will be severely tested on Monday against Centennial. (Hope to see you there) Also, what exactly do you make of the girls losses to Wesleyan and McEachern?

Scout of the year, You keep talking crap about who you play but the stars on Jordans team has played some of the best players in the country on their AAU team and have had no trouble with them. So that means nothing to me, and i have seen how bad your region is in basketball so you have nothing to say about our region. We have a AA size school playing in AAA, we run a clean program with every single player belonging to our school. We have a basketball TEAM that doesnt have just one star. I hope to God you trap and play man to man because if you do against us it will be the biggest mistake of your life. Ask East Hall which played a Jordan team last year that is even better this year about trying to trap us and play man to man. Maybe you should watch that state championship game from last year and then you will understand. Jordan would rather play against a bigger team any time. Northside has two 6’10 guys in their starting line up in our region, height mean nothing to us, our speed kills. Jordan 17-0 #1 …all that matters

Let’s all be honest. AAU is killing high school basketball. More prospects are leaving their schools to go where the “money is” meaning scholarships. Until we have a solution for transfers we will continue to have many 85-26 games. Bad for High School Basketball, both girls and boys.

When you guys come on here trashing Jordan your just insecure about your on team. You feel if I talk myself up enough maybe I will start believing South Atlanta can beat Jordan. We are in your heads. Where has South Atlanta been the last decade in basketball. We make the playoffs every year. You have one good team and you nut in your pants. The only way to settle the score is to play us and first you have to get passed Blessed Trinity. That will be no easy task. I’m finish talking to a bunch of whining bloggers who obvious don’t know a lot about basketball. You guys will be good for one more year and then you carriage will turn back into a pumpkin. We are number 1# in the Sports writers poll which is the only poll that means something. Gasports is a fairytale poll for fairytale teams.Who knows we could probably beat the 1 team you guys lost to by 14 big points. What happened that game Mr. AAU champs.

Scoutoftheyear, I would first like to congratulate you on making yourself look ridiculous. Just because both Jordan and S. Atlanta have had AAU players, you automatically assume S. Atlanta’s AAU players are better because of what? A bias opinion? Not good enough to hold up in an argument or a debate. Hype this. Hype that. You want to talk about who is ranked higher? Let’s look outside the box here for a second. UNC is 17-0 with 45 number one votes. They just recently barely beat Clemson in OT by 2. Clemson lost to the Charlotte 49ers. Now what were those 45 voters thinking? UNC is still #1 after that game. Is UNC not allowed to play a close game from time to time, or are they suppose to beat every team by 50+ points just to have a that ranking? I don’t think they are better than Memphis, who is ranked lower. I guess it’s true for Jordan. They have to win every game by that many points just to get respect. Keep your over rated poll! I’d rather have a state championship at the end of the day than to be ranked higher in the regular season. So, just because you are ranked higher in a poll doesn’t make you better. Ok, how about strength of schedule? Your region is garbage. I see why you have to travel to play a decent game. If Jordan was in your region, they’d probably have to travel out to Cali just to get some action too. Face it, you sit here and talk about playing a highly ranked national team in high school basketball. This is Georgia and you are in the biggest city in the state. Why should to have to travel out of state to find competition when you aren’t even the best in the state? Maybe your program needs to take another look around. Can you tell me how many high school basketball teams there are in this nation? That national poll makes no sense. The competition in this region is very evenly matched for the most part. That’s why you see records that are not very good. The teams beat up on each other here. Jordan lost to Harris County last year, but they managed to win the state title anyway. Let me guess what you’ll say..”That was a fluke”. Right? Well, if it was a fluke, where was S. Atlanta to take that championship away? So what if Jordan is undefeated now. I mean I am happy about it, but we are better than last year. We are even better than we were at the beginning of the year. Coach Turner has his guys playing as a team at the highest level I personally have ever seen them play. Bring the man to man D and the trap. Every team that has tried it has gone home with 1 added in their loss column. Jordan has adapted and overcome every adverse condition they have faced. So let me put it in reverse for you since you like to tickle your own self. Jordan has overcome every adverse condition they have faced and adapted. I say bring it S. Atlanta. To be the man, you have to beat the man. As everyone sees it, when Jordan became the man, nobody has rose to the challenge and beat the man yet. So back off, because the king of this jungle isn’t nearly ready to give up his reign of dominance! Go Jackets!

I think that teams near Atlanta like Douglass and Norcross get too much hype. Norcross only beat Centennial by 1 last year in Championship game, with several major Div. 1 players, while Centennial had maybe 1 really good college player. What about Douglass right now… they just lost to Newton in region 2-AAAAA but no one is talking about teams like Newton who have less height and more heart. Again I say, give Newton or Centennial just 1 major Div. 1 big man and see where they go against the teams who recruit, reload, and still barely win state, like Norcross and Wheeler. When will the GHSA stand up and take back the tradition of players playing for the teams where they originally live and not moving around to stock pile. Is that really the tradition of basketball and good coaching? I think not. Give Eddie Martin a team that averages 6’0 and we’ll see how it goes.

But you might be talking a bit too much on behalf of South Atlanta. We already dont get any love as it is so dont ruin it for us by talking Sh*t all the time! We didnt get this love when we had Vincent Banks and if you know anything about SAHS……that team would beat this team and had WAY BETTER ATTENDANCE than this current team. The team of Banks had high flyers at all postions on the floor and were highler entertaining!!!

So I say lets stop talking so much and let SAHS prove it on the court cuz I know they are the best too! Jordan is the Champs for now so let them have that lil bit. Forget that MaxPrep junk!..not a single student at SA could care less about MaxPrep….now USATODAY would be different! The last time he had a small team with a lot of speed Martin was at Brookwood. He was nationally ranked and number one in the state. His first loss came in the region semis. His next loss in his final game at the school came against a Wheeler team as fast as Brookwood. Wheeler blew the broncos out 84-59.

In the latest writers poll, Marist got one first place vote, In the first writers poll, the SWD Lady Panthers were unanimous #1. How can someone in good conscious give Marist a first place vote over SWD when they lost to these same Lady Panthers by 18 points.

Fact is Norcross had 5 starters last year none of whom started high school at Norcross. When that happens, you have an AAU problem somewhere.

As great as AAU is in purpose, it is equally as bad in process. When a kid transfers at CHRISTMAS which happened a couple years ago for Wheeler, you have a HUGE problem.

Scoutoftheyear

You pretty much made my point. South Atlanta wasn’t ranked in nothing and Vincent Banks had to really earn his stripes but it doesn’t mean they weren’t the best. People didn’t realize how good Vince and SAHS was until they seen them live……now Derrick Favors was in the spotlight while still in middle school and that was largely due to his height at that age. Now that Derrick is truly the best is just icing on the cake.

Now yea SA (2003) lost to Griffin in the state championship game but that was they’re worst shooting nite ever and shooting was that teams bread and butter!!! But I would say yes Lebron came out that year and that SAHS would’ve beat Lebron hands down!!! Would they have stopped Lebron…..NO!!! But the 3-point shooting of that team and the 5 men on the floor would have out played the ONE MAN DYNASTY KING JAMES!

Now lets look at the best of each SA team then/now…….SA this year has Nick Watckins and Derrick favors and a nice supporting casts………..SA 2003 had Marcus “moo moo” Sarden at point(he will take care of Nick), Kudus Ogbara(Would be flying all over the gym!), Sylvania Watkins(Would be on Favors and not stop him but do decent) and Vincent “vince” Banks (who would leave us all breathless and not be slowed down!)

So back to the point…..now that we have a lil credit and are getting some attention lets take it for what it is. Man those rankings are wack especially the national ones…..we have to win on the court!!! (that’s all we can do)

National rankings dont mean crap if the school has a traveling all-star team, period. You know who you are. As far as this Jordan- S.Atl stuff goes, Id give Jordan a better shot at repeating than S.Atl even getting a shot at the throne. Competition in region 5-AAA is light years ahead of what Jordan sees down yonder. Dunwoody, Southside, Chamblee, Druid Hills, and undefeated Blessed Trinity against the teams in Jordan’s region? Be for real. It aint even about rankings. Real talk, if S.Atl dont lose in their region tourney, then they probably wont los e ever, ever again. Zone 3 oh

If kept in perspective I think that it goes along way in building talent and confidence. Also, it helps to improve an area or state’s national image which means more focus attention by college scouts. So this not only benefits the school directly but also helps the entire area or state.

ROSCO #1 BERNARD WOULD STICK V.BANKS- U 4GOT TO ADD THAT

NOW ON THE NATIONAL RANKINGS SIDE..YALL GOTTA BE CRAZY TO SAY NATIONAL RANKINGS DONT MEAN ANYTHING.. ITS NOT EVERYTHING EITHER BUT IT MEANS A LOT.. FOR EXAMPLE.. EVERY SCHOOL IN COLLEGE BBALL WANTS TO BE IN THE TOP 25.. BUT AT THE SAME TIME THEY WANT TO BE THE BEST IN YOUR CONFERENCE TOO.. ITS SPORTS PEOPLE, YOU PLAY TO BE THE BEST.. SO WHO WOULDNT WANTED BE RECOGNIZED BY THE NATION?? WHO DOESNT WANT TO PLAY ON ESPN IN HIGH SCHOOL CMON NOW, THATS GOOD FOR THE STATE PERIOD..YEAH THE POLLS SHOW A LIL FAVORITISM TO A FEW TEAMS OR AREAS BUT WHEN YOU HAVE A LEGIT PROGRAM LIKE SOUTH ATLANTA. WHOS TEAM STARTS OFF UNRANKED THEN STARTS GETTING NATIONALRECOGNITION, SEEMS TO ME THE WHOLE STATE SHOULD BE PROUD OF THAT. GEORGIA HAVING 4 TEAMS IN THE TOP 30 RANKED TEAMS IN THE NATION. GEORGIA HAVE THE #1 JUNIOR IN THE NATION.???

AND ROSCO THAT TEAM WITH V.BANKS LOST IN THE FINALS LIKE YOU SAID.. THIS TEAM WILL WIN THE WHOLE THING.. AND THEIR ONLY LOSS WILL BE TO THE THEN-#1 TEAM IN THE NATION, ST. BENEDICTS.

Scoutoftheyear,

Don’t get it twisted….I’m ALL for South Atlanta but V. Banks and his years are why SAHS started getting some spotlight so they paved the way for the present. And yes this team will win it all but AAA doesn’t have the level of competition that 5-AAAA had(SA, Columbia, MLK, Stone Mountain, Creekside etc. “back then”) Now next year may be the greatest ever of the SA.

And I didn’t forget about Bernard but NO ONE on this team can guard Vince.

As far as these rankings…..well they are flattering but not necessarily the TRUTH. Just like the BCS…..I may be a lil bias but you cant tell me that UGA is not the best football team in the Country. But if you want to use rankings in your arguments you’ll be better off using the state rankings cuz the nationals don’t really know…….fortunately Derrick is so highly touted and is the reason we(SAHS) are getting some national exposure.

Now we gotta get these boys to go to school!!!!!!!!!! You know Javaris Crittenton should’ve went to South Atlanta(HIS ZONE SCHOOL) too but because of the bad rep of players not going on to college, moms said NO to SAHS and YES to SACA!!!

HEY SOTY…TIME FOR ANOTHER LESSON.

YOU KEEP MENTIONING ONLY ONE POLL-MAXPREP-WHICH BY ALL PROFESSIOINAL POLLERS IS THE LEAST USED AND RELIABLE. THERE ARE AT LEAST 8 REPUTIBLE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL POLLS. I THINK YOU SHOULD START USING THE HOOPSUSA CONSENSUS POLL WHICH TAKES THE TOP SIX POLLS AND COMPUTES A GOOD WEIGHTED POLL NUMBER. IT ALSO TAKES OUT THE NATIONAL AND PREP TEAMS.

*IT JUST SO HAPPENS THIS WEEKS POLL HAS SA AT 25 AND NORCROSS AT 10. *

AND SECONDLY NORCROSS DOES HAVE ONE OF THE BEST LEGIT PROGRAMS IN GEORGIA IF NOT THE SOUTHEAST. JUST LOOK AT THE NATIONAL POLLS WHICH ARE DEVELOPEED BY PROFESSIONALS. THE OVERALL PROGRAM IS SO GOOD THAT GOOD PLAYERS WILL TRANSFER LEGALLY TO PLAY AT NORCROSS UNLIKE A LOT OF THE OTHERS SCHOOLS.

AND UNLIKE YOU, WHO CONTINUES TO ONLY PICK THE ONE POLL WERE YOUR TEAM IS RATED THE HIGHEST, I WILL LIST THEM ALL. OF COURSE YOU CAN’T BECAUSE YOUR TEAM IS NOT RANKED (NR)IN ALL POLLS YET.

NORCROSS’ NATIONAL POLL RANKINGS SI-10, HOOPSUSA-10, PREP NATIONAL-14, RISE-10, USATODAY-13, ESPN-16, RIVAL-25, MAXPREP-88

DEVIL LOVER

YOU SEE.. 1 THING I DO IS GIVE FACTS FACT_ YES, HOOPSUSA DOES HAVE A VERY GOOD POLL.. BUT DONT LIE.. SOUTH ATLANTA IS #13 NORCROSS IS 11TH..

AND UNDERSTAND THIS.. NORCROSS IS A COOL PROGRAM, BUT SOUTH ATLANTA IS JUST BETTER THESE ARE NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS.. NOT RECRUITS.. AND FOR SOUTH ATLANTA TO BE 13TH???..IS GREAT!!!

AS I THINK ABOUT IT, I SAW NORCROSS PLAY LAST YEAR AGAINST OAK HILL ACADEMY. I FELT THEY COULDVE WON THAT GAME BUT WERENT AGGRESSIVE ENOUGH. THEM BOYS ARE TOO SOFT OVER THERE

SOUTH ATLANTA IS JUST A YEAR OR TWO BEHIND IN NATIONAL EXPOSURE COMPARED TO NORCROSS THE HYPE YOUR RECEIVING NOW..IS FROM THE KID WHO WENT TO TECH AND AMINU IS KEEPING IT CONSISTENT.. SO SOUTH ATLANTA SCRATCHING THE NATIONALS NOW IS GOOD. NEXT YEAR THEY’LL BE HIGHER. THEN HOPEFULLY THE 6’7” FRESHMEN NICK JACOBS CAN KEEP THE TORCH LIT.

BUT THEN.. U SAID DONT USE MAXPREPS??.. BUT DIRECTLY UNDER THE POLL YOU CHOSE TO USE ON HOOPSUSA.COM SAYS GO TO MAXPREPS.COM FOR MORE INFO SO YOUR RELIABLE SOURCE USES ANOTHER SITE.. WWW.MAXPREPS.COM..LOL

I’LL BE THERE 2MORO TO SEE EM PLAY, I SEE THE CHICKENED OUT AND DECIDED TO PLAY DILLARD FROM FL. INSTEAD OF **AMERICAN CHRISTIAN WITH #1 GUARD IN THE NATION TYREKE EVANS AT LEAST DUNWOODY HAD HEART TO MAN-UP AND PLAY EM.

ROSCO YOU DEF. HAVE A POINT WITH THE AAA vs AAAA. I WAS JUST LOOKIN AT THAT THE OTHER DAY ON GASPORTS THINKIN I WISH SOUTH ATLANTA WAS IN THAT CLASS OR AAAAA. BECAUSE THIS AAA IS WEAK. BUT IM GLAD SOUTH ATLANTA MAKES A POINT TO BLOW EVERY1 OUT IN AAA. UNLIKE J IS FOR JOKE JORDAN WHO’S 17-0 AND PLAYED AGAINST TWO TEAMS OVER 500.

THATS WHY I MAKE A POINT TO TALK ABOUT WHO SOUTH ATLANTA BEATS NATIONAL BECAUSE UNTIL THEY MAKE IT TO WHERE ITS “1” STATE CHAMP. IT’LL ALWAYS BE DEBATES.

AND IM SORRY DOG.. THAT TEAM WOULD GET KRUSHED

DEVIL LOSER LEMME SHOW YOU HOW DUMB YOU ARE I HAD TO GO BACK AND READ WHAT YOU WROTE.. THIS IS WHAT YOU SAID

LMAO.. U RETARD

YOU TELL ME ONE 14-17 YEAR OLD WHO HAS MONEY TO MOVE INTO A NEW SCHOOL DISTRICT.. BECAUSE THATS THE ONLY LEGAL WAY TO TRANSFER TO A SCHOOL.. SO I GUESS YOUR SAYING THAT THESE KIDS ARE SO GOOD (AND RICH) THAT THEY TELL THEIR PARENTS TO GET UP AND MOVE THE WHOLE FAMILY TO NORCROSS,GA SO THEY CAN PLAY BASKETBALL..LMAO.. OR NO, THEY MOVE IN WITH ONE OF THEIR AUNTS OR COUSINS (WHO THEY HAVE NO BLOOD RELATION WITH)BECAUSE “ITS BETTER WHERE THEY LIVE”

MAN… I BET IF YOU FOLLOWED ONE OF THESE KIDS HOME..YOU’D SEE THE TRUTH… I WOULDNT BE SURPISED IF YOU SAW HIM GETTIN DROPPED OFF AT HARTSFIELD FOR HIS FLIGHT HOME.

YOU JUST MADE YOURSELF LOOK DUMB AND EXPOSED YOUR FAKE PROGRAM OVER THERE…LOL.. I CANT BELIEVE U WROTE THAT DUMB ISSSSSSSSHH.

THE OVERALL PROGRAM IS SO GOOD THAT GOOD PLAYERS WILL TRANSFER LEGALLY TO PLAY AT NORCROSS

GET READY FOR THE HATE MAIL DEVIL OVER NORCROSS FANS ARE GONNA BE MAD YOU EXPOSED THE PROGRAM AND TRACE YOUR IP.

LOL. TRANSFER LEGALLY…LOL…

SOTY JUST LISTEN…I AM TRYING TO EDUCATE YOU AND IT IS NOT EASY.

HOOPSUSA PRODUCES FOUR POLLS: NATIONAL, TRADITIONAL, PREP AND CONSENSUS. TRUST ME CONSENSUS IS THE CORRECT ONE. YOU RECITED THE RESULTS FROM THE TRADITIONAL POLL-BIG DIFFERENCE. GO TO THE HOME PAGE AND CLICK ON HS BOYS RANKING ON YOUR LEFT HAND SIDE. THIS POLL TAKES ALL MAJOR POLL RANKINGS TO ESTABLISH THE CONSENSUS RANKING.

STAY WITH ME AND YOU WILL BECOME THE “”SCOUT OF THE SOUTH”.

Scoutoftheyear,

I read that when it came out and it would be a nice debate but I’ve followed both teams closely and there were just a bit better and more athletic back then and MOST OF ALL COULD SHOOT BETTER….ask Coach Reddick!

And I also was at the Norcross vs Oak Hill game and Norcross played well but Oak Hill never panic’d and got Norcross out of there game in the end. I think Columbia would’ve beat Oak Hill that day after watching them smash Wheeler that day!

Norcross might get all the hype but they did not impress me last week on tv. If you want to see the top contenders to the state title show up at Centenial on Monday. No. 2 Wheeler, No. 4 Marietta, No. 7 McEachern and No. 5 ranked hosts will play there. This might be the best Wheeler team I have seen. Even better than the 4 state championship teams. We will find out.

SOUTH ATLANTA BEAT TOP-RANKED CAMPBELL HALL WITH #1 GUARD IN THE NATION-JRUE HOLIDAY @ UCLA 78-77 IN DOUBLE OVERTIME. DERRRICK FAVORS HAD 32PTS N 29REB 8BLKS NICK WATKINS HAD 17PTS 12AST 6STLS.

FOSTERJOINER I AGREE- NORCROSS DIDNT IMPRESS ME THAT MUCH WHEN I SAW THE GAME ON ESPN. 1 THING THO.. THE KID AMINU CAN PUT IT ON THE FLOOR A LOT BETTER THAN I THOUGHT.

BUT AS FAS A WHEELER I WENT TO SEE THEM PLAY EARLIER THIS SEASON AND I THINK THEYRE A VERY GOOD TEAM. I WENT TOO SEE ABOUT TAHJ TATE B.C. A FRIEND TOLD ME ABOUT EM…. BUT WHO IMPRESSED ME THE MOST WAS PHIL TAYLOR HE GETS IT DONE.. HE’S A GENERAL ON THE COURT, YOYO WITH THE BALL, DRIVES,SPINS AND SHOOTS THE 3. AND HE’S ONLY A SOPHOMORE?? I HAVENT SEEN TRAE GOLDEN PLAY YET, BUT I’LL BE THERE MONDAY. BUT THIS KID P.TAYLOR WAS 1 OF THE BEST PG I’VE SEEN IN GA THE SEASON..BY THEIR SENIOR SEASON, I THINK HE’LL CATCH UP TO GOLDEN AS FAR AS RECOGNITION.. BUT I THINK HE’S A WAY BETTER PG THAN MFON UDOFIA FROM MILLER GROVE.

kevin grammer CMON NOW..IS THAT THE BEST U CAN DO.. YES I DID SAY 20 OR MORE.. BUT HELL.. CAMPBELL HALL WAS PRETTY GOOD.. JRUE HOLIDAY IS A GREAT PLAYER.. I GUESS THATS WHY HE’S THE #1 RECRUIT AS A GUARD.

HONESTLY.. IM GLAD THEY GOT A CHANCE TO PLAY A CLOSE GAME.. WITH ALL OF THESE BLOWOUTS, THEY NEVER GET A CHANCE TO FACE THOSE TYPE OF GAME SITUATIONS..

FACT OUT OF ANY GA SCHOOL SOUTH ATLANTA HAS PLAYED THE HIGHEST RANKED TEAMS.. LOST TO #1-AT THE TIME ST.BENDICTS.. AND BEAT #4-AT THE TIME LINCOLN. NORCROSS, WHEELER, OR COLUMBIA HAVENT PLAYED A TOP10 TEAM AND CAMPBELL HALL WAS PRESEASON #9.

Wheeler lost to the no. 2 ranked team in the country in the beachball finals and play a top ten ranked team from North Carolina this Saturday. Check your schedules and rankings before you make a stupid comment like that.
