And the champions will be …

Darryl Maxie

North Gwinnett is trying to do what has not been done before — cause Lowndes to lose a championship game at home.

Griffin lost by 16 at Lowndes in 1980. Brunswick lost by 17 there in 1999. Combined, those defeats don’t equal the 42-point beatdown Brookwood got in 2005.

And now a team that didn’t win its region — and travels this weekend because of it — now tries to convince the world it can win in the Concrete Palace.

Good luck, North Gwinnett.

If rap songs could be translated into football victories, North Gwinnett would win hands down. But as Tift County learned last season, rap sometimes goeth before the fall.

DeKalb County could be doubly represented in the finals — that is, if it wasn’t for the comebacks Northside-Warner Robins and Carver-Columbus pulled off last week. Just when it looked like Tucker and Chamblee were on their way, the rug got pulled out from under them.

Northside will ride its reprieve to a second consecutive Class AAAA title. But Carver will struggle as it did for 3 1/2 quarters against Chamblee — and doing that at Cairo will be fatal. The Syrupmakers put up 35 points in a quarter of a semifinal game and know enough to short-circuit the DeRon Furr microwave comeback that shot down Chamblee.

Lovett enjoyed the beating that Buford laid on Dublin last week, but now the Lions are in the crosshairs. They proved a certain naysayer incorrect half the time. But they lost the regular season meeting and will again in the improbable rematch.

ECI convinced me it will win Class A today after the number it pulled on Clinch County last week. I’ve seen Clinch beaten badly, but it almost always was by somebody in a higher class. Look out, Wilcox County.

If Northside plays like Northside they win easily. If they play like they did in the first half last week, they could be in for a long night. In other words, as I’ve said all year long, the only team that can beat Northside is Northside. I think the Eagles will be up to the challenge and win by 17 (or more). Do it one more time for Chris 96!!!

The Gator defense will get to the passing game of NSWR and that’ll be the game. As they say down south “When you mess with the gator, You mess with the whole SWAMP! Go Gators!

IF, and that is a big IF, you stop the passing game, or even slow it down, then Tijuan Green beats you. Ask that “outstanding defense” of Marist what Tijuan did to them in the championship game last year (over 200 yards rushing).

Talked with TGreen last night, I’m expecting big things from him. He know he didn’t play well last friday and he wants to end his great career on a high note. Ivory presence will definitely open things up for #5. I say he runs wild, Northside rolls, and they roll BIG BLUE style.

North Gwinnett played Prattville, Alabama to open the season. Playing at Lowndes is not intimidating.

They are two well coached teams. It should be a very good game. Who ever makes the least mistakes will win.

Key things to know about Lowndes defense. They are very good, but their secondary is not that great. Their defensive line and LB’s are the strong part of the team. They do have a good DB #24, but that still leaves three other guys that have to cover the field. Spread them out and they will become a weaker team in coverage. Also watch out for #7. He is fast and is a great player who makes some big hits. I wish both teams good luck and I hope for a fun and exciting game. Personally, I hope Lowndes wins because then we can have more dignity in saying we lost to the #1 team in the state. Lowndes good luck to you and your team.

Playing at Lowndes is not intimidating Huh? There is not a high school stadium in the state that is as close to a college atmosphere. You people still dont know what its all about. Live and learn. South Ga football has been, is and always will be better than metro Atlanta.

anyone should be glad to play in a college atmosphere, as long as your fans show respect and hospitalty, unlike camden did. this is really about football, not the look or size of your stadium. and you folks down south have some great football going, but even the concessions stand worker at camden said thats all people have to do fown here. i know grayson loved playing in camdens stadium, it was really nice, who wouldnt

Hey N. Gwinnett Fan 1 - Playing in Pratteville, AL is no where like playing Lowndes Cty in Lowndes stadium, with a full house of more than 14,000 screaming and fananatical fans and playhing the AAAAA state champions 2 of the past 2 years. No intimidation when playing Lowndes? Let me know what the score was after you scrape your players off the asphlate on I-75.

Lowndes is not like Prattville. At Prattville there was 18,000 fans. By the way Prattville was 30-0 the last two seasons, won back to back Alabama state championships and is currently ranked in the top 10 in the nation.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Home field advantage during the playoffs cheapens a home team victory. No team wins a valid state champion playing on its home field throughout the playoffs. GHSA playoff logistics stink for all the schools involved. If there is a football god, each visiting team will blow the home teams off the field this weekend.

I’ve been to games in the Hogpen in Moultrie, been to Valdosta, they aren’t anything special.

NG will be ready to play. Any stadium that is that visible from the interstate and that straight up can’t be that bad.

Oh yeah, Buford would beat either team.

Lowndes Like Prattville? No because: Prattville has running water. Prattville doesn’t have 22 year old seniors. Prattville has indoor plumbing. Prattville does not date sheep. Prattville wins their championships on a neutral field. Must I continue?

North Gwinnett welcomes the challenge to play Lowndes at Lowndes. As the new kid on the block we need to earn respect around the state.

It would be appropriate for Lowndes to be gracious “hosts” and provide locker room facilities appropriate for a state championship game. Rumor has it the facilities at Lowndes are an embarrassment. Hence the push for State Championship games to be played at the Georgia Dome next year.

North Gwinnett just get ready for a college like atmosphere down there in Lowndes. Yes, the facilities are not the best but that is the way it is. At least you know what to expect. The crowd will be loud and they will be standing right next you in the stands. Show them respect and they will show you respect. They have their traditions before the game and during the game, but do not let that bother you. Get the kids mentally ready to play in this atmosphere and we will see a great game. Also, do not take their offense lightly. They play hard and fast. Do not give up on tackling #29, #24 and #7. These guys are strong runners, each having unique running stlyes. Kenny Miles is a great runner going to South Carolina, but these guys have 3-4 Kenny Miles on the team running a wing-T offense which allows everyone of them the opportunity to get the ball. Good luck to both teams and who ever makes the least turnovers will win.

Northside Warner Robbins should win against Ware County, because they run and pass well. TCC beat themselves when they played Ware. There 2 overthrown balls that would have been touchdowns to wide open recievers by TCC and one that was actually caught near the end of the game that would have been a touchdown but dropped and recovered by Ware. Northside passing game is much better than TCC and running game very good. I dont think Ware can stop both unless Northside gets some key players injured.

I was not able to go to the Lowndes-Roswell game, I have however been reading the blogs by all of the Roswell fans. The fans have to be the class of their region and arguably of AAAAA. I read a post by one of the Hornet players the Monday after the LHS/RHS game. Nothing but compliments to the Lowndes program and fans. Roswell fan is no different. We all could take a lesson from your respect and sportsmanship. I don’t think the Lowndes fans show that much respect.

In response to the facilities, you’re right, they aren’t the best in the state, but it is a very old stadium that will be getting renovations soon. If there is a problem, and there obviously is, don’t show up. We WILL sell your ticket. Your school will get half of the $15, and you won’t turn your nose up at the appearance. I will not even begin to retort the running water comment. We play football at Lowndes. Team football, those few outstanding players shine some, but most of our team is relativly unknown to most. That seems to work for us. We build our facilities to accomodate our team. We started out and still are the 2nd team in Valdosta. We get our attitudes honestly, and you will get an atmosphere like no other. There are 80% chances of rain on Saturday night, but there will be tailgating in the parking lot. I will be one of them. People have begun bringing RVs to the game. Not a lot of them, but the fact that someone shows up in a RV at a high school game is borderline mental.
You didn’t get this far by being a fluke. You have a well coached, disciplined team. I hope you have a champions attitude when you leave, whether you win or lose. It doesn’t sound like you will, maybe your other fans are different. We will see.

That WHERE COUNTY crowd needs to go set some more forest fires because that’s all they’s gonna have for entertainment after they get SMOKED tonight. Some firefighter friends of ours were telling us how when they were down in Haycross, that hick town that is essentially a roadside alligator famr, the locals were saying that they hoped they didn’t have to play Northside because if they made the playoffs. They were saying how they weren’t used to playing tough teams in their weak region and that several of their players actually lived in north Florida and weren’t eligible.

North Gwinnett played Prattville at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, the site of the old Blue-Gray games. Lowndes is worthy and don’t underestimate North Gwinnett. That’s why these teams are here. We’re looking forward to a heckuva game. Lowndes hasn’t seen the spread the way North runs it. Lowndes may have more than one “Kenny Miles” type. We saw Lowndes put it on the carpet at the dome-do that Saturday night and Anyaorah, Quiles or Eberhardt are scoopin’ and scorin’. 2 great defenses. Not sure how Lowndes is on special teams. North has seen the wing T. They’ll be ready. We heard the Lowndes fans picked on the Brookwood cheerleaders 2 years ago-hope that’s not they way they are. North won’t be intimidated. This is going to simply be a great game.

NSWR Eagles, bring home the Title. Number 30 in a row will be sweet. Ware will be a tough challenge, but the Eagles are the better team. But no more first half nightmares like last week. Lowndes special teams is good. Do not be fooled by the strange alignment when they punt. I know it looks inviting to blitz up the middle to block the punt, but I would suggest setting up the return instead. I wish we did this instead of rushing the punter. #24 is a great returner on punt return and on kick off. He has great quickness in the open field and will make guys miss. The kicker will kick it in the endzone on kickoff or wherever the coach wants. I know both teams are capable of blocking kicks on extra point and field goal as we learned from our trip down to Lowndes and from what I have read this year in the paper about N. Gwinnett. Also, N. Gwinnett I know you guys have a great QB, but seriously watch out for the pressure of Lowndes D-Line. Personally if I was Lowndes I would spy N. Gwinnett’s QB with #7 when they spread the field. I have seen games where N. Gwinnett has spread the field and ran the QB, but I think #7 would win this battle every play. No offense to N. Gwinnett’s QB, but this kid can play. Good luck!!!

As an example, how many playoff games has Lowndes played on the other team’s home field in the last 3 years? My guess would be NONE. Any team that wins a championship on their home field; the win is tainted. GHSA, play neutral fields throughout the playoffs for a TRUE champion. Go visiting teams!!

GaFireFighter: lighten up, dude! Thanks for your/your friends help with the fires, but come on! Trashing the town has nothing to do with tonight when HIGH SCHOOL KIDS are playing in what - to date anyway - is the single biggest game of their lives. You can, of course, say what you want but it truly shows your lack of class…maybe a reflection of your hometown?

rw’s commments are spot on. I believe our secondary must be prepared for an arial assault the likes of which they’ve never seen before. While I was impressed with our defensive stifling of TCC’s running game, the duel attack NSWR has is at the very least dangerous and at the most overpowering. Our team is truly that - a team - and have the fight and scrap to bring home a win. However, I’m not too jaded to say that I hope the lucky breaks we’ve experienced - that are part of every football game regardless of the level of play - don’t stop!

HEY GaFireFighter POSTING: I wouldn’t speak about who is in a weak region if I were you. I went back and look at NSWR schedule and four or was it five teams they beat had records of 3 and 7. If they can’t beat teams with those records they don’t need to be playing for a “STATE CHAMPIONSHIP” and by the way it is Ware County and Waycross and we are proud of our town and community. Also, it is not nice to wish forest fires on any ones community or town. How insensitive you are to a community that lost a lot during those terrible fires. If you really did have some firefighter friends that said the things that you said they said I would not want them for friends. By the way our “Ware County Gators” are not afraid to play anyone so bring on any team you want us to play. If you think Waycross is such a hick town them keep your a* at home because we don’t need the likes of you in our town. I HOPE WARE COUNTY BEATS YOUR TEAM BY ONE POINT BECAUSE THAT WILL HURT A LOT MORE THEN TWO OR THREE TOUCHDOWNS AND YOU WILL BE CRYING ALL THE WAY BACK HOME AND THE FIRST THING COMING OUT OF YOUR MOUTH WILL BE “WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR” OH WAIT YOU WANT HAVE IVORY SO YOU MAY NOT BE IN THE PLAYOFF SINCE YOU DEPEND ON ONE PERSON TO WIN A GAME FOR YOU. BY THE WAY WARE COUNTY HAS ALMOST THE ENTIRE TEAM COMING BACK NEXT YEAR CAN YOU SAY THAT ABOUT NSWR OH THAT IS RIGHT YOUR TEAM DEPENDS ON ONE PLAYER AND HE WANT BE BACK SO DOES THAT MEAN NSWR WANT HAVE A TEAM NEXT YEAR.

Advice to North Gwinnett fans. If you love high school football you need to relish the experience of playing football, no less a State Championship game, in Valdosta. When you get out of your car, Bus or RV you can smell football. Sure it’s a long drive but Lowndes has driven to Atlanta numerous times over the years for Playoff games too. It’s wasted energy to dwell on it.Roswell was soundly beaten but Roswell will be a better program for having gone through the fire in Valdosta. Not too long ago the losses to Parkview & Francouer etc. showed Roswell what they needed to improve on. The lessons Roswell learned from Lowndes will serve them well too. I think the “key” Saturday night is going to be North Gwinnett’s Defense vs. Lowndes Offense. NG Offense will get some points. NG Defense will see speed like they haven’t seen all season. The first couple of series on D for NG will be telling. If they can hold on it will be a heckuva of a game. I like the fact that NG starts 10 seniors on Defense too. Good luck to both teams. Let’s hope for a clean game i.e. few penalties, turnovers, etc. Enjoy the ride everyone, you never know when or if you’ll ever get back.

Ware County needs a low scoring game to win over NSWR. North Gwinnett has a chance due to being a diverse offense. If they were one dimensional, like Brookwood, Lowndes would shut them down. However, I do remember that Tift County shut them down last year. GO LOWNDES.

OK here is the deal when NG comes to lowndes its on. I saw NG play tifton last year and tifton shut them out 13 to 0. I saw NG play in the dome nothing special to me the best thing i saw was the kids yelling behind the field goal. This is what its going to be like at the palace yes the fans will be very loud and they will be everywhere on both sides of the field and as for the band 340 playing loud i mean loud. Did you forget about the team your playing, key word is TEAM, you will see the mayflower moving company live and up close when they make holes for their runners, all of them not just one but all of them seem to have the ball, and the D line, here they come right after your Q back and that’s right throw that ball that’s what they wont you to do. Special teams its all their the whole package. One more note how many Q backs does lowndes have 1, 2 or 3 ? How well did you review the tapes? Bottom line is you have to beat the TEAM, you got to beat the thousands of yelling fans {so loud} and don’t forget about the best high school band in Georgia 340 plus kids playing loud, loud, loud. I know somebody will say that they gave up 300 plus yards and 28 points to Tucker but in the second half the picked up their game and gave up no points and only 1 first down in the second half. So if Ware County’s high powered offense can handled our defense then it may be a game but that ain’t going to happen. As for NHS depending on one player if you could take the time to read we won five games with our star QB out with a broken leg. So if your is only one dimensional then there is no way you are going to win. NHS 45 WC 0 GO EAGLES

As an example, how many playoff games has Lowndes played on the other team’s home field in the last 3 years? My guess would be NONE. Any team that wins a championship on their home field; the win is tainted. GHSA, play neutral fields throughout the playoffs for a TRUE champion. Go visiting teams!!

this goes without saying! if you win a championship game on someone else’s field, thats a WIN!. i would not want people saying my team was going to win because we have a huge stadium with thousands of people that will intimidate you. that seems to be more the talk here then how much better lowndes players are and how much better they are coached. oh, well, a win is a win. how humiliating it would be for lowndes to lose after all the talk about their crowd? you better win now, or crowd noise goes down the drain.

North Gwinnett is coming home with State Championship bragging rights. And we deserve it. We have one of the best high school quarter backs in the region, Michael Tamburo!!!!!

Go Dawgs - arf arf arf!!!!

I would love to go to the game, but we cannot make it. We will, however, be at North Gwinnet when the team comes home. There will be a crowd!!!!

Everyone in Georgia is pulling for Ware Co against the second team from Warner Robins (northside) because of scum like Gay Firefighter and the rest of their arrogant azzhole fans. This is coming from fans of a team that has one state title to show for all of their undefeated regular seasons. It will come to an end soon, if not tonight, next season, when they will wish the GHSA had placed them in the region in south Atlanta. No one likes arrogance!

To: By Leon, Keep it fair! You questioned NSWR beating 4 teams with records of 3-7. I suppose Ware County beat only teams with winning records. Let’s take a look: You beat Lakeside-Evans who finished 3-7, Richmond Academy who ended 0-10, Americus with a 5-6 record, Wayne County 1-9, Greenbriar and Effingham County were 5-5. You must be some kind of real nut to think you could make a statement like that and get away with it. It really doesn’t matter because in just 9-more hour you will be history. As bad as I hate to say it or even admit it - the best defense Lowndes has seen all year was Valdosta’s. If Valdosta had an offense to go with their defense then we would be playing them for the state title. When we played Valdosta we were only beating them 11-8 with under two minutes to play and then we scored to go up 18-8 for the final. Valdosta’ defense flat out hit us in the mouth! BUT we flat out hit them right back in the mouth with our defense. Winnersville Classic was about as good as it gets - two really good teams getting after one another in an atmosphere that is rivaled no place! Go Vikings bring home the title again!!

The refs shut the Georgia bridgemen down in the Roswell game just made the fans get louder. I think its going to be a good game. NG is a good team they did not get here on looks a lone cause they are sure ugly Just kidding. I think the noise will be a factor and the Georgia bridgeman will get flags thrown on them but they like that that’s when they know they have made a difference..

Taint-

What makes Lowndes the UN-true champion to you? We heard this talk from Brunswick (1999), Parkview (2004), and Brookwood (2005).

Money talks.

To be clear to your closed mind, seems like North Gwinnett better win with talk like this. One Lowndes fan boosts his opinion, and someone such as yourself takes it for more than it is. If you would kindly read the exerpts from:

JJ - “North Gwinnett is coming home with State Championship bragging rights. We deserve it.”

Crooks Banza - “Mikey Tamburo will pick the Lowndes secondary apart.”

ATTENTION LC - “I will be sure to post the score for you while North Gwinnett is driving home with the state championship. No one can stop their offense!! Tell your players they were torched by the #1 Junior football player in GA!!!”

Posts like yours make others realize just how sportsmanlike North Gwinnett fans can be. Believe me, Lowndes has their own share. If we lose, we shake your hands and know we were beaten by a better team. If you lose what happens? Tear-soaked McDonald’s cheeseburgers and fries on the way to the Holiday Inn?

2) If you want to bring up stats just realize that we have lost only one game in 3 years and I am sure that they were not all subpar teams.

3) Last but not least, that sorry excuse you call a team will not and never will be able to handle our DEFENSE no matter how many subpar teams you want to say we have played.

To “graysonfan”, the ref’s did not throw a flag on the Lowndes band, they just gave a warning. I don’t know how much you know about bands. Ours has over 400 band members. The band director is not a coach, and quite frankly doesn’t know that much about football.(And our coach has no authority over the band director.) He directs the band with his back to the game. Most of the time he doesn’t have a clue as to what’s going on out on the field during the game. He has his hands full directing the band, not the football team. What happened against Roswell was an accident. Nothing more.

But tell me, why are you still crying. You don’t have a dog in this hunt. Camden knocked ya’ll out of this thing. Don’t be so negative, especially if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

We are setting up “portapots” outside the stadium for tailgaters to use. With the GHSA running things you can not go into the stadium during the day for restrooms. Also, the GSHA made us paint over the word “VIKINGS” in our endzone and the letters “LHS” on the 50 yard line. They surely didn’t make Parkview do anything like that when we went up there to play them for the state title.

If anyone wants to go we still have some tickets. NG has sent two whole sections of tickets back and asked us to sell them. Of course they get 1/2 of the gate receipts after the GHSA gets their cut and the refs are paid. We have to pay for lights and security out of our 1/2. Rightfully so NG wants us to sell all the tickets we can. They have been perfect gentlemen about the whole thing, and are great people to work with. And we KNOW NG has a great football team!

Re: Rumor has it the facilities at Lowndes are an embarrassment.

When Harrison played at Lowndes the locker room they were in was very small and leaked like you would not believe. Water was everyone and some of the players actually stood outside in the rain just to get some air. It was so small only the starters and key back-ups were in it while the rest of the team stayed in a fenced in area under a corner of the bleachers which had no chairs or benches.

Lowndes plays in the Dome which is a home field for every Atlanta team but you call it a neutral site. Let’s see $100 motel, $80 gas, $200 food for your family. Lowndes $280- Atlanta team cost $000. Yet Lowndes shows up and backs up their team. Since NG gets half of stadium it really is a neutral site just like the Dome for us.

FanMan, you’re correct. I hate the fact that it is like that, but it is true, they have no good place for the visiting team. It is an old stadium that has served its community well for most of the time Lowndes High School has been open. I can’t say for sure, but I don’t think that they made the locker rooms so drab to give the opposing team a mental complex. (i.e. University of Iowa painting the locker rooms pink.) Then again, maybe they are. It has gotten this blog’s attention.

It is a sad truth that the Lowndes B.O.E will make the improvements on the home side of the stadium first. That is where the season tickets, concessions, team paraphenalia and such are sold the most. We have frequently sat across on the visitor side for games. Lowndes sells out almost every game, so many fans have begun getting season seats there. It is a day and night difference between the sides. There are cotton candy vendors, t-shirt sales, concessions, and what have you on the home side. Concessions will be better tomorrow, but not like on the home side. The band is scheduled to be moved to the end zone opposite the field house next year. The B.O.E is having to perform renovations to support the fan following.

I have been to many high school stadiums and will assure your team that the facilities are far better than they are at say Tifton. Any high schools and even some college teams have very poor visitor’s sides in comparision to the home sides.

Bottom line: You go where the fish are biting.

Martin Stadium at Lowndes is 40 years old. Yes the visitors side locker room is not up to par with the rest of the stadium but that is being fixed and renovated at the end of this football season. That being said at 40 years old Martin Stadium is still nicer and more fan friendly(for both sides) than say three time state champ Parkview’s vaunted Orange Jungle or Harrison’s Stadium and those are new stadiums. So before everyone gets on this rediculous band wagon of the facilities are the problem remember this the field is the same size, usually grass, and has the same amount of players on it at one time at EVERY stadium. The game will be won or lost by the action on the field. Looking forward to seeing North Gwinnett play a great game against Lowndes, but the Vikings will win. Go Vikes!!

To Tainted Championship, For your information, Lowndes won a state championship at Parkview in 2004. There is nothing tainted about winning a championship on your own field. Those kids worked hard all year to earn home-field advantage and they deserve to play there. The year Lowndes beat Parkview at Parkview. Lowndes was the higher seed team and really deserved to play at home. But, as they proved, it doesn’t matter whose field you play on, the Vikings will take care of business. So get a life.

Hey North Gwinnett the last time I checked there was no I in team. All you guys talk about is your QB. Sure he is a very talented kid, I’m not doubting that but it will take a collective effort by your whole team to beat the Vikings. And to Crooks Banza i bet’cha he won’t pick the 2ndary apart. If that’s all NG is banking on then your check is going to bounce tomorrow night.

Mr. Maxie,

Thank you for that bulletin board material!!!! The #1 team in AAA is the underdog.

Well, our boys have checked into their hotel in Cairo and the Cairo business community are making a sizeable profit since we have over 3,500 that will be spending the night in Cairo. We sold 4,500 tickets in 3 days. Cairo will be opening the CARVER-COLUMBUS side up to Cairo fans at 2:15 p.m. We would not have had this problem if the game were played in Columbus… Due to the fact that our home stadium seats over 40,000. The UGA vs. AU game played used to be played in Columbus as the nutral site. But, that is money that both schools and the GHSA are missing out on, because we would’ve had 20k fans easily at A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium in Columbus. But, that is okay.

That is why we play the game. The game will be televised on CSS on Saturday December 15, 2007 at 3 p.m.

Congratulations to our beloved Northside Eagles who completed another fantastic season. The Eagles are 15-0 and the 2007 AAAA State Champions.

In the process, Northside became only the 7th Georgia program to have back-to-back perfect seasons. Congratulation to a fantastic senior class who went 44-1 as varsity players and reached 3 straight State Championship games.

You have given Northside fans something they will NEVER forget. Hats off to the great Conrad Nix, Northside’s head coach. Coach Nix has led Northside to a glowing 123-12 record over the past decade.

It’s great to be a Northside Eagle! Way to show your Northside Pride!!!

Wareagle: You are highly critical of a guy who broke his leg in late October and displayed the courage to lead his team to another state title.

The problem that everyone has with Northside is you can not stop everyone and our defense is lights out. Slow down the great RB Tijuan Green (as Tucker did) and Ivory throws 300 yards on you in a half.

Back off, play it safe over the top, in an effort to stop the pass and Green runs hog wild. FYI: The deciding touchdown came threw the air. The Eagles are simply too complete of a football team, not to mention our coaching staff, who always seems two steps ahead of the competition (see Ware County, Tucker, Marist, Warner Robins, and many, many others).

Ware County kids played hard and had a GREAT season. At the end of the day, it is the same story. Northside wins and Ivory completes his career as one of the few GA high school QBs to NEVER lose a football game as a starter.

You are correct WarEagle. He is grossly overrated. LOL! It’s great to be a Northside Eagle!

North Gwinnett did not play Prattville at their stadium, they played in a dome stadium in another town in Alabama. Way more seats than ANY high school in the country period. It was raining that night also and that has nothing to do with this game. That was 16 weeks or so ago. Both North and Lowndes are good or they would not be here today, agreed? Lowndes has not ever faced a spread team that has as much talent as North Gwinnett has and the head coach admitted it in his interview. He went on to say that their secondary is weak other than one spot. North is good because they are balanced and hurt you all over the field with many different options. Over 17 people have caught passes in North’s offense. Next the ref’s will be catching passes I guess. There is no disrespect towards Lowndes, just some retaliation from some of the comments posted from some of the Lowndes fans who apparently never graduated. It’s a game and it will be a very good game no matter who wins. It will come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes and who capitalizes on the other teams mistakes best. North has an awesome kicker, and I haven’t heard much about the Lowndes kid. Any info on him? Anyway, good luck to both teams and I look forward to watching a great game, and some good food.

By Northside_Owns_GA

December 15, 2007 8:17 AM | Link to this

Attention: LC: I would not question Lowndes, if I were you. North Gwinnett will not be the first Atlanta team with a good QB that Lowndes has ripped. I agree with you that it is not wise to question North Gwinnett either. I believe North has faced a good schedule. I also believe North still has a lot to prove. This will be NG’s toughest test, by far. Lowndes is no Norcross. They are MUCH, MUCH better than Norcross and more athletic and disciplined than Norcross. Playing on the road is also a huge challenge (ask our Northside Eagles).

This game gives us to contrasting styles of play. It will be interesting from a HS football fan’s perspective.

Finally, I will tell you that most Lowndes posters do not have a high level of respect for football, especially at North. They are from Valdosta, GA. Why should they? If North wins (or even plays very well), I believe North will take a step towards much more respect.

Every new kid has this challenge. Face it, North Gwinnett is definitely a new kid. Peachtree Ridge had to do it last season and North is going to have to do it too.

I would not assume that the spread is going to be the beast that stops Lowndes and that North is simply going to throw the ball all over the place. North players are about to really get hit on every down…linemen, backs, receivers, and that 6’1”/185 (listed) JR. QB. I doubt North players have played on a stage like a state championship game in Valdosta. Likewise, North is going to bring some twists. We are all going to enjoy this contrast in styles.

As a Middle GA native, I will be pulling for Lowndes and a good, hard fought game. Good luck to you all.

You talked a lot of s#%@. Now what? The Eagle came to your swamp and beat your buts. What? only 98 total rushing yards. Tijuan Green had 143 by himself. If NSWR had not fumbled twice deep in your territory, you would have been shutout. Also, a replay of your 2nd touchdown showed your runner did get in. It was a Roswell-Peachtree Ridge call. NSWR was penalized all over the place. Your fans were so sad on a non-St Patrick day with all of their green. Now, have you started on your crow meal. Mr. Ed, Ware made the plays on defense to get those turnovers. One interception was a great play by the defensive back, and the other was a s** throw from mr over-rated. What a great play for Ware on that forced fumble and touchdown and the phantom block in the back. As for the touchdown, bonehead, it was evident to everyone watching that the ball broke the plane, evident to everyone but you KIA! Northside Wins again. We won again. See the thing you guys in the swamp did not get is that Eagles fly. There was no way an eagle can get beat in a swamp because we are in a league of our own. We tried to give you gators some free points in the first half but after you guys refused to capitalize, we continued to claim what was rightfully ours. Mr. Ed, the trash talking KIA, Lowndes Viking here and as I said earlier, it is a good thing your pathetically over-rated team played in the AAAA title game because if they were playing tonight they would get embarrassed. Your over-rated team was exposed two weeks in a row by supposedy much inferior teams. Everyone understands your frustration and how disconcerting it must be for you to come to terms with. Most doctors agree that it is good to get those pent up feelings of anxiety, depression, and inadequacy exposed in order for self-healing to occur and combat groundless self-aggrandizement. The truth is now known by all. Well now, everyone knows northside is not as superior as the northside fans wanted everyone to beleive and neither are the fans. Funny, #7 in the country in some poll and maybe, just maybe, 4th or 5th best in Georgia.

powbeech AND others,

I give Ware credit for playing a good game, but the fact remains if these two teams played ten times, Northside probably wins ten times. Although Ware has a good team, I don’t think any impartial person would say they are better than Northside. Ware scored 14 points off of turnovers. Give them credit, but the fact is they were still turnovers. According to stats I just read this morning, Ware had a net 12 yards rushing, 91 passing (10 of 13 with 1 INT) and 5 first downs. Northside had 135 yards net rushing, 174 passing (10 of 18 with 2 INT), and 12 first downs. Victor Daniels had 28 yards on 9 carries for Ware, Tijuan Green had 142 yards on 24 carries. The “overrated” quarterback, Marques Ivory, was 9 of 16 for 134 yards and 2 INT. Certainly an off night for him, but hardly a disgrace. The first pick was an outstanding play by the defender, the second just a bad pass. After that, there was absolutely nothing wrong with his performance. Do some of you idiots even realize what Marques has gone through in the last eight weeks just to play? Last Monday he was on crutches to keep the weight off of his bad leg. He practiced very little the whole week. But, Marques has the drive and determination to get the job done, and he did. Two consecutive state championships and a 30-0 record speaks for itself. What last night proved, was even on a bad night for the offense (especially in the first half) they were good enough to win a state championship. Some of you don’t understand that this team was on a mission. Number 96 was more than a number. It represented a person (Chris Johnson) who meant a great deal to the Northside team. They couldn’t bear the thought of losing, and that kept them going. While it may not have been pretty, they still won, so stop hating.

For Ware County fans, as we arrived in Waycross on our buses, we appreciated the directional signs to your stadium and found humor in some of the other signs, especially the one that said “Southern Fried Eagle, Finger Lickin Good”. You and your team represented the city well. I was particularly impressed with your stadium. Having visited many times in the past (years ago), I was amazed at the improvements. Thanks for your hospitality. I wish all of you the best in the future. Merry Christmas!!!

That’s what we did. We hit them first, and hit them hard, all night long. by the third quater, they were scared, and their fans were quite. The real fun began the next day though. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!! WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!

TO MR. MAXIE PAD AND THE REST OF THE CARVER-COLUMBUS DOUBTERS AND HATERS… CARVER-COLUMBUS 16 - CAIRO 13. AND, WE DID IT IN CAIRO!!!!

I TOLD YOU ALL THAT WE DO OUR TALKING ON THE FIELD. AND I ALSO TOLD YOU LIKE I TOLD THE CHAMBLEE FANS… THE GAME AIN’T OVER UNTIL THE CLOCK READS 0:00.

NOW…. WHO IS THE BEST?

DERRON FURR DID IT AGAIN. THIS TIME HE RAN 24 YARDS FOR THE GAME WINNING TOUCHDOWN WITH 1:01 LEFT IN THE 4TH QUARTER. JARMON FORTSON ALSO HAD A TOUCHDOWN AND THE GAME WINNING QB SACK ON DEFENSE FOR A 17 YARD LOSS. THE AUBURN TIGERS ARE GETTING TWO EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS NEXT YEAR. THE PROBLEM WITH MOST OF THE NEWS MEDIA IS THAT YOU GUYS ARE FIXATED ON THE METRO ATHLETES. WELL, WITH OVER 200 D-1 SIGNEE’S AND A PARADE AND USA TODAY ALL-AMERICAN THAT HAVE WALKED THE HALLS OF CARVER-COLUMBUS, TODAY WE JUST PROVED THAT THERE ARE MORE ATHELES THAT SHOULD BE ON YOUR ALL-STAR TEAMS FROM SCHOOLS OUTSIDE OF METRO ATLANTA. I WISH THAT WE COULD PLAY BROOKWOOD, NG AND THOSE OTHER SO CALLED POWER HOUSE TEAMS IN ATLANTA.

WE BEAT VALDOSTA IN VALDOSTA WHEN THEY WERE RANKED #1 IN THE NATION AND HAD THE NATIONS LONGEST WINNNING STREAK 20 YEARS AGO. AND, WE GOT CHEATED OUT OF AN OPPORTUNITY BY THE GHSA TO COMPETE FOR A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

HOW YOU SAY?

WHEN THE EFFINGHAM vs. EVANS COACH AND HIS QB USED A RADIO TRANSMITTER TO SIGNAL CALLS AND EVANS WON. EFFINGHAM PROTESTED THE GAME. WE HAD ALREADY BEATEN VALDOSTA AND WERE WAITING TO SEE WHO WE HAD TO PLAY IN THE SEMI-FINAL.

INSTEAD OF THE GHSA MAKING A DECISION ON THE ISSUE OF SHOULD THEY DISQUALIFY EVANS ON MONDAY, THEY DIDN’T MAKE THEIR DECISION UNTIL 2:30 P.M. ON THURSDAY. WE WERE SCHEDULED TO PLAY ON FRIDAY. WE HAD TO PREPARE FOR TWO TEAMS. WE LOST THE GAME IN EFFINGHAM COUNTY 15-8. THEY SCORED ON A CONTROVERSIAL TACKLE ELIGIBLE PLAY WITH 2 MINUTES LEFT TO PLAY IN THE FOURTH QUARTER. THEY WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO PRACTICE IN PADS UNTIL THE DECISION CAME DOWN FROM THE GHSA. WE HAVE VIDEO EVIDENCE THAT THEY DID FROM THEIR NEWS STATION THAT INTERVIEWED THE COACH ON THAT MONDAY. THEY KNEW EVERYTHING THAT WE WERE RUNNING. AND, WITH MY 4.38 SPEED MISSING FROM THE LINE-UP, I GOT HURT LATE IN THE VALDOSTA GAME, THAT DIDN’T HELP.

WE WERE UP 8-7 AND WHEN EFFINGHAM LINED UP A WR WAS ON THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE ON THE SAME SIDE THAT THE TACKLE CAUGHT THE TOUCHDOWN. OUR DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR AT THE TIME, LARRY OSWALT, WAS THE DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR FOR THE COLUMBUS HIGH BLUE DEVILS ON THEIR STATE SEMI-FINAL TEAM BACK IN 1971. OUR DEFENSIVE UNIT WAS WAY TOO DISCIPLINED TO MISS SOMETHING LIKE AN UNCOVERED TACKLE.

ANYWAY, THE FILM AND TAPE DON’T LIE. IT IS CLEAR AS DAY THAT THAT WR WAS ON THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE. THAT IS WHY I SAY THAT WE GOT SCREWED OUT OF A FAIR OPPORTUNITY TO COMPETE FOR THE AAAA TITLE…. THERE WAS NO AAAAA. ANYWAY, 20 YEARS LATER AND OUR DESTINY HAS BEEN FULFILLED.

THERE… THIS CHAPTER IS FINAL!!!!

CHAMBLEE… CAIRO… DO YOU STILL THINK THAT CARVER-COLUMBUS IS NOT THAT GOOD?

THE BEST TEAM WON AND HAS A 15-0 RECORD ALONG WITH A AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TO PROVE IT.

BY LOOKING AT THE ROSTER’S OF ALL OF THE TEAMS THAT MADE THE PLAYOFFS… CAIRO SHOULD BE FAVORED TO WIN IT ALL NEXT SEASON. THIS YEAR WE WERE JUST DESTINED TO WIN AFTER THAT UNFAIR EDGE GIVEN TO EFFINGHAM COUNTY BY THE GHSA 20 YEARS AGO IN 1987 IN THE AAAA SOUTH SEMI-FINAL GAME AGAINST US… AFTER WE HAD BEAT THE #1 TEAM IN THE NATION VALDOSTA IN VALDOSTA 21-7.

WE WERE UNDER-DOGS THEN WHEN THE AJC PREDICTED THAT VALDOSTA WOULD BEAT US 66-0. BUT, WE SHOWED THE WORLD THEN LIKE WE SHOWED YOU TODAY… WE ARE NO PAPER TIGERS. OUR BIG BOYS CAN PLAY… JUST LIKE BUFORD’S OMAR HUNTER. OUR 6’5” 330 LBS. JUNIOR DT WAS THE CSS DEFENSIVE LINE PLAYER OF THE GAME. MARK RICHT, YOU BETTER BRING YOUR REAR END DOWN TO COLUMBUS AND CHECK OUT SOME OF THESE CARVER-COLUMBUS PLAYERS AND STOP ALLOWING AUBURN TO GRAB OUR FUTURE NFL PLAYERS.

YOU GOT TE BRUCE FIGGINS FROM SHAW LAST YEAR, BUT YOU SLIPPED ON JARMON FORTSON. WITH HIS 6’3” 215 LBS. AND 4.4 SPEED, HE COULD COME TO UGA RIGHT NOW AND TAKE ANY OF YOUR RECEIVERS STARTING POSITION. AUBURN IS GOING TO SUPRISE THE SEC WITH A GANG OF UNDER THE RADAR BALLERS.

YOU AJC WRITERS TALK ABOUT CALVIN JOHNSON… YOU WILL BE TALKIN MORE ABOUT JARMON FORTSON WITHIN THE NEXT FEW YEARS. TRUST ME!!!!

Hey ng pukes its halftime and the mighty vikes are up 20-6. so far the only member of your team that could even make the Lowndes team is your punter. Your qback is way overated. You guys are finding out what south ga football is all about. you havent seen this kind of defense all year and we have four running backs that are kicking the sh— out out your weaka— defense. I’ll talk to you again when its over. Oh by the way your one cheap score was a gift. You wont get another.

Why can’t you Northern GA people get this through them hard heads that the best High School football is played in Southern GA you can tell that by all the state championships Southern GA have over Northern GA. You can tell that by the soft schedules that the North Schools play they are weak. Please stop sending those weak North school for use to beat up on…..

I don’t think the metro Atlanta sports drive-bys get it. It isn’t north Georgia vs south Georgia. Its Atlanta vs “Not-Atlanta” (in more things than just football).

Atlanta means metro Atlanta (Fulton, Decatur, Gwinnett, Clayton, Cobb, and Douglas counties). “Not-Atlanta” is the rest of the state. “Not-Atlanta” is where traditional Georgia athletics are played and traditional Georgia culture is lived, regardless of race, social status, wealth, or any other secondary things.

“Not-Atlanta” is where high school football is taken far more seriously by a much higher percentage of community members that Atlanta people realize. When I watch the Friday evening sports during HS football season, and I see so many empty home and away seats in so many HS stadiums, I can hardly fathom why a school’s community would do that to them - especially to the kids who play so hard, the coaches that give so much, and the marching bands who give their best.

Go to a typical “Not-Atlanta” town’s high school footbal game, and you’ll see how those secondary things don’t matter. You’ll also find out just how they feel about anything “Atlanta”.

Most Cherokee county residents, for example, will chafe as bad as a Grady county resident if you try to tell them Atlanta-area schools field better football teams or bands.

We have 8 state football championships - 5 GHSA and 3 GISA. Look how many (this year and previous years) are from schools that are “Not-Atlanta”.

At least my favorite team barely lost to a “Not-Atlanta” team.

It’s not north Ga vs south Ga - its Atlatna vs “Not-Atlanta”. Remember that.

THIS JUST IN…. 0:00 LEFT IN 4TH… LOWNDES 34 - NORTH GWINNETT 6.

OH, AND BY THE WAY….

THIS IS CARVER-COLUMBUS’ SECOND YEAR COMPETING IN AAA…

IN 2005, COACH DELL MCGEE’S FIRST YEAR ON THE JOB, OUR RECORD WAS 3-7, BECAUSE THE KIDS HAD TO LEARN COACH MCGEES’ SYSTEM AND WE WERE ALSO IN THE TOUGH REGION 3S-AAAA THAT INCLUDED A 14-1 NS-WR TEAM THAT LOST 10-3 TO STATESBORO IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. THAT REGION ALSO INCLUDED A 9-2 WARNER ROBINS, A 7-3 WESTSIDE MACON AND A 6-4 CENTRAL-MACON TEAM.

2006 WAS OUR FIRST YEAR IN REGION 2-AAA AND WE WERE 12-2.

WE WERE ASSIGNED TO A REGION THAT INCLUDES THE #1 TEAM IN AAA FROM THE SEASONS BEGINNING TO THE SEASONS END, AND ALSO OUR ONLY REGULAR SEASON LOSS WAS TO LAGRANGE. WE BEAT SHAW WHEN THEY WERE RANKED #2 IN THE STATE.

WE BEAT #5 THOMSON IN THOMSON, #7 JACKSON IN JACKSON, #3 CARROLLTON IN CARROLLTON, AND WE LOST TO #6 SHAW 14-16 IN THE DOME LAST YEAR. THAT’S NOT BAD FOR OUR FIRST YEAR COMPETING IN AAA.

2007, UNBEATEN AND UNTIED. ENOUGH SAID!!!

AND, YOU WONDER WHY WE ARE THE 2007 GA AAA STATE CHAMPIONS?

FOR THE SLOW PEOPLE OUT THERE, LOOK AT THE REGION THAT WE LEFT AND ALSO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT THIS IS COACH DELL MCGEE’S THIRD YEAR AS THE HEAD BALL COACH AT CARVER-COLUMBUS.

GO CARVER-COLUMBUS TIGERS!!!!

GET USED TO SEEING US FOR YEARS TO COME!!!!!

So much for North Gwinnett’s vaunted Offense. It has been truly offensive for the second year in a row against 1-AAAAA. Here’s a tip NG, take a chance and schedule some games south of Macon because it’s painfully obvious that your weak non-region and region schedules don’t prepare you for quality football. 34-6 Lowndes

To the NSWR fan that actually tried to compare their scores with Lowndes’ against similar competition: 1. You play WR and HOCO at the start of the year. They will surely play you tougher now with more at stake.
2. Let’s see you do that next year after playing Lowndes, Valdosta and Coffee. 3. Any team from 1-AAAAA would go undefeated in your league. 4. WR and HOCO aren’t your typical Region 1 teams.

I told you little dweebs that north gwinett wouldnt score again. the points they did get Lowndes gave to them. The defense you saw tonite is only gonna get better people. They are young and very very very talented. The ACTUAL state championship took place when Lowndes beat Valdosta. After that we were on cruise control. Metro atlanta cant stand the fact that they cant compete with South Ga.

To all the NG fans, you’ll have to forgive the fervor of some of my fellow Lowndes posters. We feel that all of the talk continues to revolve around the ATL teams and us poor plowboys get no respect. You do have a good team but it seemed that there was just a huge difference in speed and physical intensity. You still have to be able to smash someone in the mouth at times to win championships. Flash is nice, but grunt wins every time. Thanks for coming down, sorry about the weather. Hope your visit was good. BTW, next year in the semifinals we’ll have a turf field and a new visitor’s fieldhouse. We’d love to have you back.

I agree with lhsbanddad I don’t agree with all of the bloggers talking down North Gwinnett. They had some really good players and some plays that were drawn up well. There will be excuses, but you made it this far for a reason. I am sure that some North Gwinnett rogue fans will downplay our area and the people that live in it. Likewise with Lowndes fans. I know many couldn’t wait to get on this website and trash NG’s team. Somehow that has to do with our football teams, I guess??? Lowndes and North Gwinnett showed some signs of good and bad sportsmanship. I was afraid it was going to get a little chippy on the field for a short time.
I don’t agree with either team’s band playing while the opposing offense is on the field. I suppose that in a hostile environment you have to counter the home field advantage. I didn’t like that from Lowndes as well. It looks arrogant and obnoxious. I think that the NG athletic director should be thankful. Because a nice locker room is required to win, we moved your team to the baseball team’s new field house. I doubt we get a salutation.
lhsbanddad is right, the renovations are coming. It is an old house and many years old. Please come back and lets try it again. I like NG’s school spirit though, most of their fans stayed the entire game. I am sure Lowndes enjoyed that game a lot more than NG’s team, but it was fun for me, I got to watch two championship games from Valdosta teams today. Better than any January 1st bowl game I have seen in a long time. I hope everyone gets home safe and we meet again soon.

TO REGION 1-AAAAA:

IF YOU KNEW YOUR HISTORY, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT IN 2001, 13-1 NS-WR LOST TO PARKVIEW 12-7 IN THE STATE AAAAA FINALS. GUESS WHO WAS IN THEIR REGION THEN?

10-2 WESTSIDE, MACON

6-4 WARNER ROBINS

6-5 GRIFFEN

3-5 CARVER-COLUMBUS

3-5 HOUSTON COUNTY

4-6 HARDAWAY-COLUMBUS

0-9-1 BALDWIN

THEY DOMINATED REGION 2-AAAAA FROM 2001-03 INCLUDING THE TEAMS THAT YOU MENTIONED THAT WOULD GIVE THEM PROBLEMS.

IT REALLY DOESN’T MATTER, BECAUSE I KNOW THAT THIS 2007 CARVER-COLUMBUS TEAM WILL BEAT ANY TEAM FROM ANY CLASS.

CAIRO’S TAILBACK HAD 18 CARRIES FOR 200+ YDS. AGAINST NORTH HALL. HE HAD 20 CARRIES AND 88 YARDS AGAINST CARVER-COLUMBUS. THAT YOU WERE GOING TO FACE THE STATES #1 DEFENSE.

DO YOU STILL THINK THAT CARVER-COLUMBUS DOESN’T LOOK LIKE THE #1 TEAM IN AAA?

All this week I have labored through reading these blogs. Dissing our facilities, blaming our band, blaming yellow flashing lights in the end zone, instead of talking about good quality football play. Amazingly enough we come to the final game of the year, the culmenation of an entire season down to this one game and NG was the rudest team of all time. Every time we had the ball, anywhere near your band, your band director would look at the Vikings break huddle and he would strike up the band playing this durge of a song. Not once did it create any problems for us, not once did we complain about it. My goodness people you made a**es out of yourselves when you stood on the sideline right before the half and did the same thing. Where in the world did ya’ll learn to play football. And it didn’t work….In your face NG…go back and play that junk up in the Metro area! Please…go back!!!

North Gwinnet fans and players, our Vikings are still on the field waiting to shake hands, where are you? Those chartered buses must be awful comfortable cause you ran right for em after the game… oh well. I see that Prattville formula didn’t work out for you. If you got beat by thirty points by them and they are #2 in the Nation, then I guess you have just dubbed us #3 in the Nation. If we could have gotten a few of those extra points I guess we would have been tied with mighty Prattville for second. I am sorry but the Camden game was the real State Championship game. When will ATL come up to the same level as the South? Or at least Prattville? Congrats to the Vikes. Everyone down here knew you would bring another one home. Congrats to senior players who now own 3 State Championship rings to show for their hard work and dedication… you guys win the old school way- TEAM FOOTBALL. South Georgia football, Has always been kind of a legend to me. I grew up in cobb county, and highschool football has always been a part of my life.As a kid I watched players like Rex robinson, at Marietta, and Eddie lee Ivory at Wheeler. We would folow cobb teams to the playoffs. even if our team did,nt make it.No matter how good our teams were, because of the legend, we always thought that south georgia would be so much better, and the truth is, yall usually are. With that said, this year we had the chance to travel to Valdasta at the beginning of the season, and play Lowndes. Valdasta is not what I exspected, I was thinking small south georgia town. I’ve always heard how the whole community comes out and suports high school football, but you dont . Yes, the community comes out, but to suport Lowndes football. There is a difference. My family and I went to the chic-fil-et before the game, dressed in our school colors, and were completly ignored. I tried to make eye contact with several people, with no success. No one would even speak to us. It was a very strange situation. You know how the game ended, stormy night, wet field, fumbles, Harrison won.We played hard, were helped alot by your mistakes, but were able to do something that does’nt ever happen, shut lowndes out at home. It was a great feeling for us. Then I began to read your comments the next day none of you gave Harrison any credit. Your attitude is like there are only two highschools in the whole state, and no one else exists. I guess you feel isolated,I dont know. Throughout this year I have been reminding you of the 9-0 defeat, not because I’m a sob, but, because you always avoid it.I guess you cant claim your dominance over all N. Ga. teams, with that hanging over your head. Read your blogs on here today, and see how it makes you look. When you are great, you dont have to say it, let others say it for you, or let your play stand alone. For me, the legend of south georgia football has been tainted, but the Lowndes team that walked on that field last night, was one of the best I have ever seen. You doninated on both sides of the ball. You did make a real good team look bad. N.G. did hit hard, but the harder they hit the quicker the Lowndes players got up. The lowndes defence was awesome, and the fact that they have so many players coming back is scary. The offence runs the wing T better than I,ve ever seen it run. The truth is you would probally beat Harrison 8, maybe 9 out of ten times, but not 10 . Great season congatulations for your championship.

Student enrollment at Lowndes is 2729. I’m not sure why that is important because only 11 people are allowed on the field at one time per team. Anyway, my point has always been that Lowndes is successful because of their team concept. People mention how great NG QB is and that he couldn’t do it alone… you back up my point exactly. He shouldn’t be trying to do it alone, there’s ten other guys out there. If you had watched some of our long touchdown runs you would notice the ball carrier actually being positioned by other teammates to wait for a hole or a block. That’s working together.

To the NSWR fan that actually tried to compare their scores with Lowndes’ against similar competition: 1. You play WR and HOCO at the start of the year. Any team from 1-AAAAA would go undefeated in your league. 4. WR and HOCO aren’t your typical Region 1 teams.

Region 1-AAAAA, what are you trying to say in this earlier post? That Warner Robins and Houston County are NOT WORTHY to be in your region? Or, are you saying they weren’t trying as hard when they played Northside, just because we beat them by a larger margin than Lowndes? Are maybe you are saying they just had a bad year in 2007, which they did. So, let’s go back to 2006, when Warner Robins advanced to the Dome, and Houston County advanced to the quarter finals out of your region. Both teams beat Lowndes that year by comfortable margins, YET BOTH TEAMS LOST TO NORTHSIDE BY COMFORTABLE MARGINS.

Do I expect Northside to come into 1-AAAAA next year and dominate, the obvious answer is NO. Common sense tells me that. First, we are losing almost the entire offensive team to graduation, and obviously the competition is normally better overall in AAAAA. Do I expect Northside to be competitive and compete for a playoff spot? You’re darn right!!! As I said, Warner Robins and Houston County both had down years in 2007, but ALL THREE TEAMS in Houston County have good football programs. Warner Robins and Northside’s records speak for themselves. Houston County is still a relatively new school building a tradition. But, rest assured, THERE ARE OTHER AREAS OUTSIDE OF LOWNDES COUNTY, GEORGIA THAT PLAY GREAT HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL.

Be proud of your teams, but understand you are “not the only game in town”.

HOW ABOUT GETTING YOUR COACH TO SET THE GAME UP TO PLAY US? I’LL BET YOU ANY MONEY THAT HE WON’T WANT TO COME TO COLUMBUS TO PLAY US. WE WILL COME DOWN THERE WITHOUT ANY HESITATION.

ALL THAT MATTERS IS THAT WE WON. CHAMBLEE AHD CARROLLTON HAD THE REF’S ON THEIR SIDE. THE CAIRO GAME WAS THE MOST FAIR GAME OF OFFICIATING THAT WE HAVE EXPERIENCED ALL SEASON. YOU GUYS COULDN’T GO ON THE ROAD AND DO WHAT WE DID…

YOU GUYS PLAYED A SLOW TEAM FROM ATLANTA. WE CAME TO SOUTH GA AND PULLED OUT ANOTHER ONE. MIDDLE GA RULES…. AS YOU WILL FIND OUT WHEN NS-WR MOVES TO AAAAA NEXT YEAR. NOW, WE WILL SEE IF YOU WILL BE ABLE TO COMPETE WITH THEM.

AND, THANK YOU FOR RECOGNIZING A TRUE CHAMPION HAMBONE.

carver columbus has reported his pseudo-inflated garbage about his team a few too many times. He claims he played at Indiana U. No one cares about your lies and over-inflated groundless ego. Nice game at Cairo. That game was in doubt the whole day. Cairo wins 5 out of 10.

all wing t teams line up for the block or hole, only the stronger team that can hold them longer will do better. so dont think you have some big secret about playing as a team or something. your players were plain and simple stronger and faster then NG, which doesnt mean they are more of a team player.

i only asked about the number of students because, around here in gwinnett, there are 5, 5-A schools within 15 miles of each other. grayson alone has 3300 students. im not sure how big your school district is, but when you have that many 5-A schools all together and that close, there of course will be alot to talk about, and animosity, which fires up the papers. not to mention, theres always one or two of our teams, in the final four every year. dont think that just because theres so much more to talk about up here, that the coaches and football players in these gwinnett county teams forget how talented you guys are down there, there is just way more people to talk about up here, and waaaaay more people to buy their newspapers.

oh, and in case you didnt understand what i was trying to say,

your team was rocking! i loved watching the game, #24, 28, and a couple others were fantastic! i only hate NG didnt come to play! i hope grayson’s offence improves and gets the chance at it again next year!

rock on!

TO POWBEECH:

THE LAST TIME I CHECKED CARVER-COLUMBUS IS 15-0!!!!

SO, WHEN YOU HAVE NOT LOST A GAME AND YOU WIN YOUR TITLE… THEN YOU CAN TALK TO ME.

RESORTING TO NAME CALLING ARE WE?

IF I AM SUCH AN IDIOT… ANSWER THIS FOR ME…

WHERE WAS THE GAME PLAYED BETWEEN TCC AND CAIRO?

ANSWER… AT TCC.

DID TCC WIN THEIR STATE TITLE?

THAT IS WHERE YOU SIMPLETON’S GET IT ALL WRONG. IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU WIN BY 1 OR 100… AS LONG AS YOU WIN!!!! LIKE I SAID, THE LAST TIME I CHECKED CARVER-COLUMBUS IS 15-0!!!

SO, WHEN YOU OR ANYBODY ELSE CAN GO TO CAIRO AND BEAT THEM AT HOME… THEN COME AND TALK TO ME.

THE D-1 COLLEGE COACH’S SEEM TO AGREE WITH ME AND MY ASSESSMENT OF THE TALENT HERE IN COLUMBUS. WE HAVE 8 KIDS THAT WILL BE SIGNING D-1 SCHOLARSHIPS ON SIGNING DAY FROM CARVER-COLUMBUS AND 10 THAT WILL SIGN WITH A D-1 SCHOOL NEXT YEAR. SO, THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING.

AND, ALL THE NAME CALLING WILL NEVER GET YOU ANYWHERE… ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON’T HAVE THE FACTS TO SUBSTAINTIATE YOUR CLAIMS.

I HAVE PROFF TO BACK EVERYTHING UP THAT I SAY.

Congratulation to the 2007 AAAAA State Champions, The Lowndes High Vikings. I think Lowndes set the tone on the opening drive and never looked back. Our defense played an awesome game last night. We it them hard and hit them quick right from the start. I’ll say it again, defense wins championships. Also, to North Gwinnett i think you guys had one heck of a season and every player on that team should be proud of everything that you accomplished this season. Hold your heads up high because you have nothing to be ashamed of. You guys maybe bruised but your not broken. It takes a lot of dedication and hard work to make it to the state title game. Everyone on that field last night is a winner in my book.

Powbeech……….What have you been smoking?……Ive looked at your posts and it’s obvious you do not understand the game at all…”TCC beats Cairo and Carver barely survives Cairo?……Is this football or mathematics?….Has it crossed your simple mind that championship teams(barring injuries) improve during the course of the season…..Was it the same Lowndes team playing sat. night that lost to Harrison earlier?…..or the same Ware team that lost to Glynn Academy, then beat TCC in the semi’s ?……You say Lowndes would rather play Ware,Cairo,Clinch or Charlton, for what?…..Didn’t they all lose?…….Logic dictates that you would want to face NSWR,Carver,Buford or ECI,the winners of their respective classes, and who all went 15-0….You can’t knock any of the 4 other champs, each team had very impressive seasons ,just as Lowndes

Interesting that you mention facts. All of your gasconade ad nauseum means very little to anyone and you have provided nothing real, other than unfounded, unsubstantiated hyperbole. Fact is, you do not have to be undefeated to win the state title. Fact is, you have to be the best team in the state when it counts. Fact is, with one loss Lowndes is the best team in the state in December, we proved that fact well beyond any uncertainty.

TO YO:

ACTUALLY, IT IS YOUR IGNORANCE TO LIFE…

FIRST OF ALL, THIS IS ALL ABOUT THE KIDS… IT’S NOT ABOUT ME AND IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU.

I DON’T HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST ANYONE ON THIS BOARD. THIS IS RATHER CHILDISH, WITH ALL OF THE NAME CALLING AND ALL. I WON’T STOOP TO THAT LEVEL, BECAUSE GOD KNOWS THAT I AM A BETTER PERSON.

THIS BLOG IS FOR RECREATIONAL USE AND YOU GUYS ACT AS IF NO ONE CAN HAVE THEIR OWN OPPINNION. I JUST SO HAPPEN TO HAVE FACTS TO SUPPORT MY OPPINNIONS. DOES THAT MAKE ME HAVE A “GOD COMPLEX” AS YOU HAVE STATED?

TO WAREAGLE:

SINCE YOU ARE SO OBSSESSED WITH ME AND MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS, YOU ALSO THINK THAT YOU ARE SMARTER THAN WHAT YOU ARE…

IF YOU WOULD RECALL, I TOLD YOU THAT I GOT HURT, AND HAD SURGERY ON MY KNEE, MY FRESHMAN YEAR AT INDIANA IN PRACTICE IN AUGUST OF 88’. I JOINED THE ARMY IN OCTOBER OF 88’, BECAUSE OF REASONS THAT ARE NEAR AND DEAR TO ME. I ALSO FOUGHT IN THE FIRST PERSIAN GULF WAR IN 91’. MY NAME IS NOT LISTED, BECAUSE THEY ONLY LIST LETTERMAN ON THAT SITE THAT YOU ARE CHECKING SMART GUY!!!! NO COLLEGE EVER LISTS ALL OF ITS SIGNEES.

YOU DO KNOW WHAT A LETTERMAN IS DON’T YOU?

ANYWAY, IT IS EASY TO SIT BEHIND A KEYBOARD AND DO YOUR TOUGH TALK. I GUARENTEE THAT IF YOU RAN ACROSS ME IN THE STREET THAT ALL OF YOUR TOUGH TALK WOULD END.

THIS IS NOT LIKE ME TO GO OUT OF MY WAY TO PROVE SOMETHING TO SOMEONE THAT DOESN’T EVEN MATTER IN MY LIFE…

MY MOTHER DOESN’T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO MY LETTER OF INTENT AND SHE THREW AWAY THE MAJORITY OF MY RECRUITING LETTERS AND SHE ONLY SAVED ONE MILK CRATE FULL. BUT, IF YOU GIVE ME YOUR FAX NUMBER, I’LL SEND YOU A COPY OF THE RECRUITING LETTER’S THAT I DO HAVE FROM BO SCHEMBECHLER AT MICHIGAN, DANNY FORD AT CLEMSON, DICK SHERIDAN AT NORTH CAROLINA STATE AND BILL MALLORY AT INDIANA, JUST TO NAME A FEW.

THIS IS JUST A LITTLE PROOF TO SUBSTAINTIATE THE “PSEUDO-INFLATED GARBAGE” AS YOU PUT IT.

YOU ARE A TYPICAL REPUBLICAN… YOU TALK ABOUT YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE WAR, BUT YOU WON’T GO AND FIGHT IN IT YOURSELF…

BY THE WAY, I AM GOING BACK TO IRAQ IN JUNE… DO YOU WANT TO COME WITH?

I DIDN’T THINK SO…

I think that many have underestimated the coaching ability of the Lowndes staff. Because our coach is not the most talkative or polished media guy, many assume he is a country bumpkin that can’t really coach. Clearly 3 state titles in 4 years shows differently.

You idiots who keep putting Northside down because of their performance in the last two games remain uninformed despite being given the facts. Once again I will remind you that Northside won its last two games IN SPITE of playing well below their average game. Prior to Marques Ivory breaking his leg in October, there wasn’t a team in the state who could beat them. Since then they have “gutted it out” and did what they had to do…WIN. Say what you want, the fact remains, Northside IS THE ONLY TEAM in the state of Georgia who is 30-0 with TWO state championships. Hate all you want, it won’t change the facts.

Jealousy of Lowndes and region 1-AAAAA is rampant and maniacal lunacy abounds on this board. It begins and ends with the arrogant, invincible in their minds, northside and carver fanatics. Both teams were exposed as being much inferior in contrast to what their fans wanted the entire state to believe. Lowndes left no doubt in the minds of Georgia high school football fans about who is “the king of the hill” in Georgia. Lowndes and Buford. Now that would be an interesting game in the Corky Kell. Good riddance, you self-inflated fans from Northside and Carver.

THE MIAMI DOLPHINS JUST WON THEIR FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON IN OVERTIME OVER THE BALTIMORE RAVENS 22-16!!!!!

I WANT TO APOLOGIZE TO ALL GHSA FANS IF I MAY HAVE COME ACROSS AS A POMPUS ARSE WHO CAN CRAP THUNDER!!!

I MEAN NO DISRESPECT TO ANY OF THE KIDS THAT PLAY THE GAME TODAY. I AM JUST SIMPLY STATING MY OPINNION. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ENGAGE IN A HEALTHY DEBATE ABOUT YOUR DIFFERENCES, THAT IS FINE. I AM JUST AS PASSIONATE ABOUT MY TEAM THAN YOU ARE YOURS.

I JUST SO HAPPEN TO PLAY ON A TEAM THAT IS A PART OF NATIONAL HISTORY. AS YOU MAY HAVE GATHERED, I AM EXTREMELY PROUD OF THAT FACT. TO SOME, IT MAY COME ACROSS AS BRAGGING AND BEING ARROGANT. BUT, THE TRUTH IS, IT IS FAR FROM THAT.

WHEN I LIST HT., WT., 40 TIMES AND COLLEGE THAT WE SIGNED WITH, THAT IS JUST TO INFORM YOU OF WHAT WE HAD THEN, AND WHAT WE HAVE NOW. I HAVE NO REASON TO LIE. WE HAVE HAD NFL PROBOWL FOOTBALL PLAYERS BEFORE I EVER GOT INTO HIGH SCHOOL. THAT IS NOT BRAGGING, THAT IS JUST INFORMING YOU OF OUR LINEAGE.

ALTHOUGH, WE MAY NOT HAVE ALL OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES TO BACK IT, WE HAVE ALWAYS PRODUCED EXCEPTIONAL ATHLETES.

AND, TO TRY TO DOUBT THE FACTS OF WHAT I SAY IS YOUR PEROGATIVE. BUT, I DO HAVE NEWS PAPER CLIPPINGS AND OTHER PHYSICAL EVIDENCE TO SUBSTANTIATE ANYTHING THAT I SAY. I HAVE NO REASON TO LIE.

YOU GUYS FORGET THE FACT THAT WE DID BEAT THE #1 TEAM IN THE NATION IN 1987. WELL, WE HAD TO HAVE SOME ATHLETES TO DO THAT, AND I JUST SO HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF THOSE ATHLETES. YOU CAN’T DIMINISH ANY OF THAT!!!

JUST BECAUSE OUR COLLEGE CAREERS DIDN’T TURN OUT AS WE WOULD’VE LIKED…

AND, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THEIR COLLEGE CAREERS CUT SHORT FOR NUMEROUS REASONS IN ALL SPORTS ALL OVER THE USA…

INJURIES HAPPEN, MEDICINE NOW IS FAR MORE ADVANCED NOW THAN IT WAS BACK IN THE 80’S. AND, THE GREATEST DETERRANT FOR MOST KIDS BACK IN MY DAY THAT KEPT THEM FROM GOING TO COLLEGE IS A PREGNANT GIRLFRIEND AND LACK OF A SUPPORT SYSTEM TO ASSIST THEM WITH SOME OF THE ADVERSITIES THEY MAY FACE IN LIFE.

I GREW UP IN A SINGLE PARENT HOME IN AN URBAN AREA. CRIME WAS RAMPANT AND I USED SPORTS AS A TOOL TO GET AWAY. EVEN THOUGH MY COLLEGE SPORTS CAREER DIDN’T GO AS PLANED… I DO HOLD A MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION DEGREE FROM TROY STATE UNIVERSITY. MY DOCTORAL STUDIES HAVE BEEN PUT ON HOLD DUE TO MY MILITARY OBLIGATIONS.

20 YEARS LATER, AND THE CONDITIONS OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT I GREW UP IN ARE GETTING WORSE. I AM JUST TRYING TO GIVE BACK TO THESE KIDS IN THE FORM OF PROVIDING THEM A PIECE OF THEIR HISTORY.

AS IT TURNS OUT, IT WORKED. THESE YOUNG MEN HAVE TAKEN THE REIGNS AND HAVE MARKED THEIR PLACE ON THE TIGER WALL.

SO, THERE IS NO REASON TO BE SO TERSE WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR COMMENTS.

NORTHSIDE EAGLES, 30-0, 2006 & 2007 STATE CHAMPIONS

Nobody is jealous of anything out of Lowndes County. It’s the Lowndes folks who have to keep reminding us that all others are irrelevant in their eyes. If I lived in Valdosta, I suppose I would have no live outside football, so for everyone outside Lowndes County, let’s try to understand what we are resding here. These folks have nothing to live for 8 months out of the year, and we need to be considerate of their need to be “loved”. By the way, why is it mostly Lowndes High School folks sounding off. Valdosta High seems to be a little more secure in their status, and doesn’t feel the need to tell everyone how great they are.

Carver-Columbus thanks for the vote of confidence in our team. But with all due respect for our guys Buford and Lowdnes would be no cake walk. I have a friend that is an GHSA offical you have problably seen him he looks like the “Hulk” he seems to think that even though they are in AA they could play anyone in the state at any level and estimated they also had 8-10 D-1 caliber athletes. As for being an idiot from what I have read you seem passionate for your team border line intense but very educated person in your own right. Carver had the biggest high school football team that I have ever seen. If I would have walked up and looked at them and not known they were a high school squad I would have thought they were atleast 1-AA college team. I think that though your QB was good your reciever #1 was the best athlete own your squad. As for the Cairo vs TCC game it was in Cairo as well. TCC was flat at the dome that wasnt a good showing for them I dont know that I have ever seen them play with that little emotion. Congrats to all the state champions and the runner up each had an amazing journey to get there. Cairo had an electric atmosphere that each of hose players, coaches, and fans will remember for a lifetime.

If you notice my early posts on this blog, I had nothing negative to say about any team…still haven’t said anything negative about a particular team. My negative comments have been directed toward a couple of Lowndes fans, who felt it necessary to start bashing Northside, and acting like nobody in the state of Georgia is up to their standards. The crap about Northside being overrated is just that…crap. I defy any team in the state to lose its star player and continue to do any better than Northside did. As I’ve said numerous times now, their record speaks for itself. Only six other teams in the history of Georgia High School football have won back to back state titles with perfect records. I’m not going to sit around and watch anyone belittle that achievement. I have respect for all of the teams that made it as far as the Dome, but I don’t think the Eagles are afraid to play anyone. Although we will probably be one of the smallest schools in AAAAA next year, I look forward to the challenge of playing that schedule. I think Northside has made the point the last three years that they can play with the “big boys”. That doesn’t mean they will have another perfect season. But, the last time I checked, nobody else had a perfect season in AAAAA this year. So, lay off of the Eagles and I’ll refrain from negative comments about Lowndes.

Ok George we see that you are a little sensitive about your Eagles so we Lowndes fans will lay off. But before I go we Lowndes fans will leave it like this, Northside may have defended the wing-t against several teams this year but none of those teams were the Lowndes Vikings. We have too many weapons, too much speed, and a monster defense. All I can say is get ready George and enjoy your reign at the top because it will be a while before you get there again. AAAAA is no joke. Every game night is a challenge, doesn’t matter what your record is. So, please don’t come into our division bragging about your 30-0 record. Great accomplishment, not knocking that, but we’ve won back 2 back titles before regardless of the record. We’ve won 3 titles in the last 4 years so we’re not too intimidated by your championships. So bring it on because i promise you Lowndes welcomes Northside to AAAAA with open arms. Remember no excuses allowed. Blog with you next year.

Even NSHS Coach Nix said after the game that Ware Co. out played his team for almost four quarter and they were lucky to come out and win in the last few minute of the game and if it had not been for that interception and Coach Nix changing the play because Ware Co. had kept Ivory in place all night then Ware Co. would have won the Championship and you wouldn’t be on here running your stupid mouth about something you don’t no anything about. They were two good teams playing Friday night. Leon. I do not know where you heard Coach Nix comments from but the out come is the same we won. I give no credit to a team that is not capable to beat NHS. The only team that came close to shutting NHS down was Tucker. You have to admit that Ware did not even do anything with it own possession. They only scored with turn overs. I just wonder what they could of done if it was not for NHS Defense. I guess we will never know for NHS will be playing with the big boys next year. NHS will succeed in that division also. Watch out Lowdnes,Valdosta, Coffee and others. WE LOVE OUR EAGLES…
