6 Stories that Shook Gwinnett in ‘06: No. 2 — Caleb King leaves Parkview
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
It’s amazing how much controversy a quiet 5-11, 196-pound teenager can cause. Well, maybe not that amazing if they can run a 4.46 and own the greatest rushing season in Georgia High School history. Caleb King accomplished that feat as a junior at Parkview. Controversy soon followed.
After his breakout junior season, which, along with strong performances at several high profile camps, shot him up to the top of several recruiting rankings, King said adios to mighty Parkview and signed on at AA Greater Atlanta Christian. Gasp.
King would put up big numbers to start the season, but would break his leg midway through, dropping him considerably in the recruiting rankings. He has since verbally committed to play for Georgia next season.

(Is this true?)
Sean Johnson was just kicked off the Brookwood basketball team for missing one “non-region” tournament game to attend a big-time soccer tournament in Florida. What a travesty. This guy is being recruited to play at Duke & Maryland as a soccer goalkeeper and needed to be seen by these teams at the tourney and was going to miss one basketball game.
For this, the basketball coach at Brookwood High School kicked him off!?!?!? SJ was is the best athlete at BHS and gives everything he can for both basketball and soccer. The kid has a chance to earn upwards to 50K in scholarship money and the basketball coach kicks him off? What do you all think of this situation? I bet the soccer coach is happy now that SJ will play the entire season with him … but??

i heard the coach game him the choice to either stick with basketball full time or soccer full time. cause it wasn’t fair that he got to miss practice and still start. and he of course chose his better sport, soccer.
