Talkin’ trash with Ridge receiver Sidney Haynes

Wide receivers say the darndest things. Peachtree Ridge’s Sidney Haynes agrees. The flamboyantly funky senior wide out says Terrell Owens is his favorite. At 6-4, 205 pounds with 4.5 speed, Haynes, like Owens, is a big target and wants the ball even when he’s double-covered. He’s also not short on confidence, much like T.O.

Q: How many defensive backs does it take to cover you?

A: More than two.

Q: I’ve heard you described as flamboyant and funky. What one word would you use to best describe your personality?

A: Exciting. You never know what you’re going to get.

Q: Who has the most style on the team?

A: [Senior receiver] Shaun Foley, followed by me.

Q: Does your trash talking really help your game?

A: Yeah, you get inside their heads, and it’s all over.

Q: What would happen if someone switched out your pregame pineapple cups for peaches?

A: It almost happened last week. I forgot my pineapples. My dad was going to bring me some later, but one of the trainer’s moms had some and brought me some down.”

Q: Piercings and tattoos: How many do you have of each, and which do you prefer?

A: I have one tattoo and no piercings. The tattoo is Philippians 4:13 with a cross on my right bicep.

Q: What was the low point of the season?

A: Probably the loss to Collins Hill or North Gwinnett.

Q: Pinpoint the one change in phil-osophy or personnel that you believe helped turn the season around.

A: Probably putting in our spread offense. We went to it right after the Norcross game. We’ve been able to move the ball better when we spread people out, both running and throwing.

Q: Explain your decision to commit to Central Florida

A: I was looking at a lot of big schools. I had some interest from Louisville, Georgia Tech, Ohio State … but I wanted to play immediately. My goal is to go to the league. Coach [George] O’Leary has a lot of NFL connections, and they’re a program on the rise.

Q: Prediction for this weekend’s game?

A: 21-7, Peachtree Ridge.

Sidney Haynes - thank you for the trash talk article - you just gave our guys that much more incentive for the game and to shut you down. Go Hornets!

If your players need a newspaper article to get motivated for the State Championship game, then they have already lost.

Can Roswell DB Dominique Wheeler cover Haynes? How big, how fast is Wheeler?

To: BBFan - You failed to understand the context of the message - Our players are plenty motivated and they do not need an article (that is icing on the cake). We just love it when more and more fuel is added to that fire. Nice try and wishful thinking on your part concerning the state of our players motivation. Go Hornets!!!!

David - DW is very up for the test as he and the rest of the secondary have shut down several allstar receivers this year and mostly in single coverage.

Wheeler covered Tift’s UGA recruit last week and the future ‘Dog did nothing. Tift threw about 25 passes against Roswell and had ZERO downfield completions. Good luck against the Hornets’ secondary.

..during the entire second half, warner robins had 18 yards and no first down. eek. good luck against the Lions defense.

Nobody cares about this game. yawn Only Roswell and Peachtree Ridge. Fluke season for BOTH teams. Unless it is Parkview, Brookwood playing someone from 1AAAAA, who cares about this game? It bores me just posting to this story.

roswell spectator In my opinion, the reason for the lack of production from this supposedly “great” receiver from Tift appeared to be the lack of talent at the QB position. I’m not a Tift fan nor had I seen them play before that night, but if you don’t have someone that can put the ball in your hands you won’t be able to produce. Maybe the QB had a bad night or maybe he is not that talented (who knows?). I don’t know why this receiver is going to UGA other than the fact that he has a good 40 time. There are so many talented football players that are undersized and don’t run a 4.4, but that is the way of the beast. Bigger, Faster, Stronger even if your numbers don’t warrant the recognition. If it were up to me, I would like for everyone to be a “great” player, but then that would produce a boring game. This is why there are less fans of the NFL than college. Everyone can play at the NFL level (equating to less big plays), while the college level is made up of potential because of a fast 40 time or big size. That’s why college is much more exciting. There are many players at that level that miss assignments, get burnt, or just plain aren’t as good at the game as that 4.4 speed would like them to be. This makes more big plays, hence a little more exciting. At any rate, the Roswell/Ridge game will hopefully be an exciting nail biter game that is fun to watch. I just love the game of football…period! God speed to all the players, have fun, and good luck.

The excitment of this game is equivalent to the Wake Forest-Georgia Tech, ACC Championship game.

I rather watch the Class A, AA, AAA championship games this year. At least everyone has heard of the schools that are playing.

Also, meant watching AAAA instead of AAA.

King Haynes is the next T.O. He is a beast. We don’t even have to try. We can beat you guys easily. Roswell sux.
