Biden knocked Palin out the box. She kept avoiding the questions by changing the topic. She is not ready to lead this nation and all that winking at the camera was getting on my nerves.

I’m not planning on voting for either major party, but damn, tonight seriously made me consider voting Democrat. Not just because Palin is an idiot but because Biden gave more intelligent answers on foreign policy than any major party candidate I have seen so far.

Great. Another blinkin’ idiot who can’t pronounce N-U-C-L-E-A-R. And, being a “mom” doesn’t impart any special wisdom. It may give a person a different perspective but if it made women wise, there wouldn’t be any need for foster care. She needs to drop the folksy act; it has worn thin and borders on irritating.
Palin came across as too informal/stupid and the B word. That is not an attractive combination.
Biden looked like he’d been given a strict script to follow and like he’d been rehearsed to stick to short answers. But he still came across as presidential. She just looked out of her depth.

When asked about a Biden presidency, im pretty sure he called it a catastrophic failure…the guy who would be president if Obama we incapable(he is incapable now so i guess we will see Biden soon)…this is the party of change??Biden, before saying that things would change stated that he has not changed for 35 years and does not plan on it…this guy is so full of crap!

Palin did better than I thought. But presentation left a lot to be desired. She is still an embarrassment to the Republican Party and to the United States if by chance McCain is elected. John McCain should be ashamed of himselft for not doing a better job at selecting a running mate. Let’s be real. When a Presidential Candidate selects a Vice-Presidential running mate, the selection is based on the premise that this person will step into his shoes if something happens to him. Her strongest asset is her belief that when all else fails, use the false charm appeal.

How is it possible to run your mouth that fast, spit out that many words, and NOT SAY ANYTHING?
Palin would be an excellent TV news anchor reading a teleprompter.

But Palin has no business running for Vice President.

Biden did a wonderful job in the debate tonight. His performance was great. Palin kept saying he kept going back in the past, well if you don’t go back in the past and learn the mistakes that were made, how are you going to keep from making those same mistakes in the future. She has made it very clear that she and McCain have not learned anything from the past 8 years and McCain and Palin are doomed to repeat those mistakes and that’s exactly what we as americans don’t need.
Like Biden said we do not need more of the Bush doctrine. Bush has messed up this country. McCain has the same views as Bush, nothing has changed. We do not need another 4 years of Bush. NO MORE BUSH
McCain and Palin want to keep this war going as long as possible.

I think Sarah did a good job. Unfortunately, a good job does not mean she should be Presidnet or VP. I think this was a no win situation for Sarah tonight. If she would have won the debate, she was rehearsed. If she lost the debate, she is an idiot. I just hope the Republican Party does not blame the loss of the presidency solely on Palin. SHe does not deserve it.

While I am definitely going to vote for Obama and Biden—-McCains selection leaves a lot to be desire about his judgement. It would be an insult to the intelligent women in the this country, who’s presidential aspirations started with Hillary, Geraldine and now Palin. You can’t win a fight if all you do is run, dodge, duck, hide and do everything imaginable to avoid the challenge.
She went the distance. She didn’t get knocked out.
But she didn’t win a single round, much less the match.
She just danced the night away hoping she wouldn’t fall on her face or get hurt. She did it. She survived. But she did not score a single point, much less win.

You look at liberal sites and Biden barely won the debate.
I still don’t hear anyone talking about the REAL cause of the economy.
Google “commuinty reinvestment act”. Banks were pushed by dems to give loans to folks who couldn’t afford them. Obama sued Citigroup for not issuing these loans.

I could imagine my IQ dropping listening to Palin sing her own praises, saying gosh, darn, aww shucks in her country girl act. Exactly how many questions did she answer? Not many, she tapped danced around quite a bit. She spoke quite a bit but most of the time what she said had nothing to do with the question.

Sarah P looks like a porn star dressed up as a teacher, she had nothing orignal to say, you could tell she had the answers that she did give drilled into her head this week. “Can someone please give her a life line or let her phone a friend!” Because she needs some help Mr McCain thought that he was playing the game well but by choosing Sarah P as his running mate. For everyone who thinks Katie was responsible for PAILLING’S PATHETIC interview and response is not in touch with reality. She bumbled. YOu know what she is—she’e like that person who see’s job posting for a CEO or VPresident or President of a major company. The posting states the miniumum qualifications, that she does meet and she applies—-thinking because she has the minimum qualifications that she can be the best person for the job——NO NO NO. By even accepting the request of McCain to be his running mate—Sarah showed bad judgement. She should know that she is over her head. She is definitely someone who I see everyday at work and in my neighborhood, at my kids games—-but would you want the “good-ole-girl” running your country. Do you really want to trust the united states credibility to someone who does not know how to choose her words correct. She used that same line in a meeting and she doesn’t know the answer to something she is expected to know and understand——I’ll find out and get back with you later. Sure you will?

The media really does try to influence elections. Tonight made me want to support Palin more than ever. They are completely against her because she is a female and don’t have 50 years of experience. She is one of the strongest women I have ever seen and is smart. It really is time that we have someone that hasn’t been corrupted by Washington leading in the co-pilot seat, the country.
People say she has no experience, yet they are fans of Obama…he is only a part-of-a-first-term senator…how much does he really know?
I really wish this country would stop voting on racial lines…it has become a reverse 1960s, except the other side is the one that is now doing it…they fought to stop it and now they are doing it.

Palin, didnt gaff and that was a good thing. I’m tired of seeing SNL skits about her. She referred to energy too many times. How is energy going to bring jobs? She avoided too many questions, can’t see how that is straight talk. Biden showed his skill and knowledge, clearly a master at his trade. I am disappointed that this was not a real debate. It was a basic Q&A with no interaction. There were a lot of talking points, but overall not a real game changer although Palin did show that extensive coaching could improve your talking skills. Biden showed too much restraint, but he stayed on point with the “Bushes”.
Both candidates should do after debate interviews as a follow up. I love good politics.

Obama’s area isn’t just the city of Chicago. He covers the entire state. Some of the best schools in the country are in the Chicago subarbs of Evanston, Skokie, Evanston, Wilmette, etc. They’re head and shoulders above any public or private schools in Georgia - look it up.
There were Obama yard signs all over those well to do areas when he was running for office.
Also, counting bodies in Iraq, it is soooo convenient for you to leave out the Iraqi death toll. The Iraqi Christians, who lived in peace under Sadaam, have fled to Jordan and can’t even go home for fear of being killed! If it’s so safe in Iraq, then why do the Republicans make such a big deal about Palin’s son going there? I guess he’d be taking a bigger risk if he went to Chicago to watch the Cubs. One more thing, Dems keep talking about how Republicans are lowering the taxes on the greater than $250Kers…they aren’t LOWERING taxes, they are lowering PERCENTAGES. End of day, they still pay way more than the average American. 25% of $250K is a lot more than $25% of $60K. They work hard, they are smart, they make more money…it is called CAPITALISM. Did anyone notice but me that whatever the topic—she always came back to the “ENAGY” topic and what she did in Alaska as mayor and governer. The people of Alaska should support her because she is one of their own. Don’t we support the Atlanta Falcom’s. Even when we know and feel they can’t win. We still cheer. Sometimes they win and sometimes they loose. PALIN is the Looser that in the words of SARah, the “GOOD FOLKS OF ALASKA” ALL KNOW ME.
NO one should blame Katie because the VP candidate came to an interview unprepared. Prior to getting the nomination—she should have read-up on that stuff. Like I said before—she just applied because she met the minimum qualificaitons.

He wins on substance; she wins on style. A draw. She was well briefed, but kept going back to her canned answers. She would make a good VP for McCain, and he would make a good VP for Obama. Since she has no opinions of her own on national issues she was able to express what had been crammed down her throat pretty well. Joe was best when he was more forceful, almost angry.

GOV. PALIN???? She never answered the questions. When you take a test in life be it by paper OR however….. . “Answer the question asked of you from this scheduled debate.” How in the world can anybody say she won or kicked butt??? I kept counting the times she said the word ENERGY on other questions asked of her, and I lost count. If you look back at the debate re-runs, her rehearsed cheat sheet kept her on the energy crises and one liners. THIS IS NOT A GAME SHOW , OR BEAUTY CONTEST DAMMITT!!!!!! IF A WAR BROKE OUT ON HER WATCH. SHE MAKES ME THINK ALL SHE CAN DO IS LEARN HER LINES AND NOT BE PREPARED FOR A REAL EMERGENCY ON THE NATIONAL STAGE,,, SAY AGAINST IRAN?????

Senator Biden won the debate hands down. Palin appeared detached, insecure and overly rehearsed. Her attempted to sound maternally intune to Americans failed terribly, when Biden became emotional when he talked about his losses. She responded coldly and unmoved and returned to her campaign speech. I would have liked her if appeared for a moment to empathize w/ his lost. She is too robotic, uniformed and unpolished (I like to give a shot out) to lead the country.

keith b- if you don’t know how creating energy is going to create jobs please don’t embarass yourself by joining this discussion. I’m an independent and Palin kicked Biden’s BUTT tonight! Made Obama/Biden’s CHANGE look like it is worth about 2 bits (FYI a bit=12.5 cents) I’m beginning to think about voting Republican just because the media is disgustingly BIASED. Letterman needs to register as a dues paying democrat. We need people capable of bipartisanism!

Very disappointed in Palin. She didn’t have enough respect for us to answer many of the questions she was asked. Instead, she would jump on one talking point or another.
I liked Biden. He answered almost all of the questions he was asked and he answered with substance.

Hey Bubba, sounds like you are talking about what obama did exactly the other night and will do in the future. Exactly what he is advised to do. He is so teleprompted like a script that without a script he would be all and ah, well ah, but ah,….. Palin thinks on her feet. That is why she did win tonight. She spoke down of the Bush administration and Biden spoke the same old tune that all libtards do, “just another Bush”. That is so old. You need change. The dems since being elected to congress have run this country into the ground just so they can blame it on Bush. What a bunch of whiners. They are like a varsity chili dog. You have too many and it just makes you ##$$. I am so tired of their swame old rhetoric. Change would be a democrat with brains like Joe Leiberman. Finally a man that stands up for his values rather than power.

Palin was cutesy and not professional at all… she used the same old terms she’s been using.. Biden was direct and knowledgeable.. Wake up people, we might not like congress or the “insiders” nut they are professionals who are educated in what tey are doing.. I dont want someone with the same education as I to be the VP.. I want someone who has traveled the world, met with dignitaries, wrote legislation, fought for change and understood the core reason that we are failing in the economy right now.. Palin is pretty, she’s quirky, but come on people she’s not VP material.. VOTE NOW!!! VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN

What a lopsided debate. Palin had nothing but a perpensity to ramble and obfusicate the question. I had to actually ask myself several times, did she answer the question? She sure talks alot and says very little.

Just how many joints did some of you people smoke while the debate was going on. Speaking of which, where are my shrooms? I gotta find them so I can understand this view that Biden won. Palen stated the facts plain and simple of what needs to be done. She didn’t rely on distorting the truth like democrats like to do. Start thinking for yourselves for a change and put that dope down.

Sarah Palin A Talking Head
By SwingVote
October 3, 2008 1:10 AM | Link to this
Palin: Didn’t embarrass herself or her party. Gets style points for a folksy made-for-television presentation but also deductions for painfully thin experience and rehearsed answers that went way off topic. (How many times did she use the word maverick?)
Biden: A slow start with a great finish (example: The Achilles heel question. Two thumbs up for extensive been-there personal and professional experience used to good effect, especially on foreign policy and nuclear weaponry. Bonous points for answering questions Palin dodged with rhetoric.
The Winner: Biden. Palin gets honorable mention for not falling apart or making big gaffes. But wait for the next unscripted interview.

it’s ironic that the republican party is trying to unite both parties to work together for a common good while the democrats are doing the us vs them thing.
i thought democrats were all for inclusion, acceptance of others differences & different ideas & beliefs but they aren’t. if anyone disagrees with them they become vicious and cruel and do everything they can including lying to destroy the person.
we all, dem and rep alike ought to be pulling together to do something positive for this nation. all this arguing and finger pointing isn’t going to do us a bit of good and the dem vs rep divisive ideaology is going to destroy us all.

Did someone say Harvard? I don’t know about you but the last two Ivy League co-presidents we had were enough to last several lifetimes. Spare me another round of THAT! And what does a wife have to bring to the discussion when she is only proud of her homeland,ie the USA, because they nominate her husband for Presiddent. Probably a lot of wives would be proud under those circumstances but that’s hardly a mark of patriotism. Perhaps blackmail is a better term. “I’ll be proud of America if you nominate my husband for President.” And you think Palin’s comments are stupid????????
By Dem Libs are angry because Palin won it!

ppl get a grip!
the dem’s are so angry they are attacking a woman and her kids. lying cheating and calling on their cohorts in hollywood to destroy palin. i don’t get why they are so upset over this woman running. yeah she has some ideas of her own (isn’t that what feminists love?) even though they aren’t what the dem’s want. she’s a strong working mom and the dem’s are acting like thats a sin.
i find it ironic that the rep’s are putting out a strong willed, competent woman and the dem’s, supposedly the bastions of equal rights are having hissy fits and kept their own strong woman down!
i was a democrat for years but i am really sick and ashamed of what many in my party are doing. no longer is it politics of truth and doing the right thing its destroy all who don’t believe the way you do. last time i looked this is a nation of people with different beliefs on everything and thats the way it should be. the dem’s don’t have it right and neither do the rep’s so why don’t we quit this p** match and work together. i used to believe the democratic party really held the belief that all people were accepted no matter how they believed but they are no longer accepting of anyone unless you adhere to every idea they think is right.
personally i think palin won the debate, she came off as smart and strong, biden came off as a wuss. this year i am switching parties and voting for mccain cause really he isn’t a rep he’s a moderate democrat and that is what this nation needs.

Palin managed to bring her F in Political Science up to a D. She memorized talking points fed to her by the McCain camp. She is a gimmick and an insult to all women. This Independent voter will not be giving McCain/Palin my vote.

I feel somewhat embarrassed for the republican party. There’s no way this is the female running mate they could come up with. I understand the necessity of embracing diversity, but it shouldnt be at the cost of competence. Part of being a world leader is being able to communicate one’s grasp of the issues and vision for the future. Palin has not thought enough about issues OUTSIDE of those affecting Alaska, and has not demonstrated an intuitive grasp of policy or global politics. Thus this debate should added further evidence that voting for the mccain ticket with her on it is irresponsible.

When I first saw Sarah Palin speak at the RNC, I was impressed. I was impressed (and moved) by her bravery and fortitude in the face of difficult circumstances as a parent. But whatever strength I saw in the beginning has been subsumed by a kind of pandering. She is almost desperately courting the camera. Her grins come at inappropriate times and all those winks seem painfully insincere and even juvenile. Wouldn’t we be completely grossed out by a male candidate who winked that way? Is she planning to wink when she sits down with foreign leaders? I’m sorry. I just can’t see her as a president, or even vice-president. And, though I have been an admirer of McCain, I’ve grown increasingly disillusioned. This is the last straw. A deeply cynical move on his part, and it shows a flagrant disregard for the best interests of the country. He must know she could not succeed him in the event of his death or inability to govern. And if he doesn’t, he should. I was never an Obama fan, but he’s won me over.

The Debate.
The talking heads are falling all over themselves talking about the fact that Sarah Palin didn’t have a seizure on stage or something. But let’s be clear about this: I watched the focus group meters and watched the debate and Joe Biden won it hands down and won it big!
But in fairness to Sarah Palin, her burden was greater than Joe Biden’s, MUCH greater.
Political trends this late in the campaign can be likened to a supertanker. Once they have momentum in a particular direction, it takes a massive force to turn them around. I’m from Alaska, I know something about what happens when supertankers don’t turn around in time. The McCain Supertanker has just fetched up hard on Palin reef and it’s going to be taking on serious water.
Sarah Palin needed to effect a game change. It was Joe Biden who merely had to ‘hold his own’ against Palin. Make no mistake, Joe Biden won this thing tonight and McCain now has an almost impossible task going into his second debate with Barack Obama on domestic policy— an area that is the Democrats’ strength.
Oh… the McCain campaign is going to be spinning this thing like Whirling Dervishes, but the people who watched this know what they saw and it is all over for the McCain campaign tonight.

My fellow republicans I will have to admit that we have lost our battle. Gov. Palin and Senator McCain are not going to win this election by the way they are going. I am very objective and it really looks bad for us. I am embarassed by Gov. Palin and when she gave her SHOUT OUT I hid in shame. Why would anyone vote for a candidate who takes the VP responsibility so lightly? This is not a joke, our country is in desperate times. I won’t vote for a candidate who acts like some teenager or girls gone wild bimbo.

I was not sure of who I was voting for until tonight. Biden was considerably more well informed than his counterpart. Most convincing, however, was that he acknowledges that global warming is caused by people and that alternative sources of energy are the best way to reduce and control climate change.

Palin was like a robot reading a script. When she isn’t scripted one senses that she not only doesn’t know the answer but that she doesn’t comprehend the question as was the case when K.Kuric asked her twice what newspapers she reads and she replied “all of them” the first time and “I’ll send you some” the second time. Very scary!!

This debate did not show you the first women VP of the United States and I was raised by my Mother. I favor a women for President if its her time just like anybody else running for the office. Joe Biden won this debate with years of being in office and actual experience. He walks the walk and talks the talk. Palin did do a little bit better but she had to and I think the VP position is for someone who eats and sleep of wanting to be President or Vice President. Palin does not show that kind of passion. Biden won the debate. I agree with the Republican strategists that its Barack/Biden win for office 2008.

I felt both Palin and Biden did a good job in the debate. Palin and McCain are more focused reforming America to make it a stronger nation while Biden and Obama just keep talking about the failed Bush policies of the past 8 years (which is how Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid open every sentence they speak)! Well I hate to tell them that all of the Bush policies haven’t failed. If they would look in the mirror they would see that the demise of any bi-partisan coorporation in Congress has fallen to an all time low. Yes, you can thank Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid for the lack of coorporation because they have definately divided party lines since she became speaker of the house. The mess that Wall Street is in is because of a lot of democrats pushing banks to loan thousands of people money to buy a home they could have never afforded. Bush didn’t have anything to do with this. This started long before he ever took office. And, there should be an investigative committee to see just how many in congress got fat and rich off contributions by these companies. That’s my whole problem with the way this election is going because the democrats never take any responsibility or ownership. They just point fingers and try to lay the blame on someone else.

What you witnessed last night was nothing more than someone (Sarah Palin) who had been coached on what to say. It was obvious that she was advised to sway her responses toward what she had done in Alaska if she was not familiar enough with the question. She evaded more questions than she answered directly. The media casted Bidin as a “TYPICAL” Washington Politician because he answ
