It was politics, but of the polite variety

It was a very good day for the Democrats.

It started with a classy act by Hillary Clinton, who moved to nominate Barack Obama by acclamation, preventing a potentially divisive rollcall vote. Her husband then delivered a ringing endorsement of Obama, reminding the nation why he is considered the best politician of his generation.

Bill Clinton’s speech was followed by a passionate and biting critique of the Bush administration by, of all people, John Kerry, who is hardly known for his passion. And rounding out the day was Joe Biden, who delivered what the delegates and other Democratic partisans had been hoping for — an insightful and incisive attack on John McCain’s politics.

The Democrats, to a person, proved that they could harshly attack policies and politics, judgments and beliefs, without attacking the person. Good for them. Bill Clinton and each member of the Senate — Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, John Kerry — was careful to mention his friendship with or respect for John McCain and his service to the nation.

Then they proceeded to say why they disagreed with his policies, why his policies are bad for the country. It should not be necessary to dehumanize your opponent, to suggest he is somehow worthy of contempt.

If that idea of respecting your rival’s humanity is what Barack Obama has brought to American politics, it marks a huge improvement.

But.., I repectfully disagree with most of his tax and spend liberal ideas of change.

Really who cares what Joe Bitem says. Who cares what Slick Willie says or more who he is doing. It certainly is not Hitlary. All of zoned out moonbats are in one place and they are having their own love fest to support Bactrack Oblame.

He is now trying to complain about a Bill Ayers ad and wanting people prosecuted for free speech. Today they had an ABC investigative reporter arrested on a public street for trying excercise Freedom of the Press.

This is just a glimpse of what the Marxist has in store for us. Socialized medicine where the government determines whether it is too expensive to treat you and just delays care until you die. All the while taking money from you at the point of a gun through ever higher taxes in their effort to take from the productive and give to the unproductive.

Earned Income Credit - a sham program that gives tax refunds to those who owe no taxes. What a load of crap.

Are you going to look for real positive legislation from Congress? What is the opposite of progress? Congress. Lowest approval rating in history. Single digits for Queen Nancy and Harry the Joker. The Queen was confronted with her Save the Planet idea and told the people to drill in their own head. Well there is nothing in the Queen’s head except air and stale pot smoke.

We have many challenges in our country for a United America not one divided by race warlords, class warfare, and income redistribution from the producers to the idle. We must increase the energy supply to buy time so that we can invent new technology to use alternative fuels. We must stabilize the economy and spur growth not by new excessive profit oil taxes.

We also face a world where the Islamofacists want to destroy our society and drag us back to their twisted view of heaven on earth.

Backtrack is not experienced enough to lead and too radical to be trusted. McCain is simply a better choice and although not my first choice. He is an easy choice over this unaccomplished, inexperienced lightweight. It is not about Race. I would vote Colin Powell or Hermain Cain, but never for Sinney McKinney, Maxine Waters, Jessie Jackson (jr or sr) or Backtrack Oblamemi.

Tuckerheadinthesand is great to read for amusement. She is so wrong so often. .

Bill was Bill, convincinly fake. Only drunken bands of merry liberals still believe what this man says.

Biden, very weak, basically reviewing democratic talking points. He spent most of his time questioning John’s judgement? The man he said he would be proud to server as VP to!? Biden either didn’t believe what he was saying or he is one heck of a back stabbing friend. Didn’t seem like a very good first impression.

So now the pressure mounts on Obama to deliver BIG. He has to reverse the negative momentum showing in the polls. But is a stadium full of hollywood celebrities, weeping before their progressive messiah, really going to help Obama connect with middle America voters who still cling to their guns and religion??

It was indeed a good day for America.., but Democrats needed a great day.

It is so sad that the best response to seeing democracy in action is the spewing of babble that comes from those who are stuck on stupid. You write a few cute names and throw in a few marxists/socialists barbs and then try to come off as real thinkers by stating you would vote for Powell or Cain or wouldn’t object to having Oprah live in your neighborhood. Wake up and smell the coffee. America has moved on and dinorsaurs like you are destined for the museums.

JW - I concur with your sentiments, expressed with a tinge of witty satire.

I did not see any of the speeches to which Cynthia refers, but am definitely conditioned for a “purging” of the band of elephants down at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Some would have us believe it is a recipe for disaster, but that is most certainly an erroneous assertion.

A change of direction is very much in order.

Speaking at a forum of former world leaders less than a mile from the site of the Democratic National Convention, Bill Clinton drew an analogy that had many wondering whether he had made peace with the idea of an Obama candidacy.

**Suppose, for example, you’re a voter, and you have candidate X and you have candidate Y. Candidate X agrees with you on everything but you don’t think that person can deliver on anything. Candidate Y disagrees with you on half the issues, but you believe that, on the other half, the candidate will be able to deliver.

This is the kind of question that I predict - and this has nothing to do with what’s going on now - but I am just saying if you look at five, 10, 15 years from now, you may actually see this delivery issue become a serious issue in Democratic debates because it is so hard to figure out how to turn good intentions into real changes in the lives of the people we represent.**

I think someone is voting McCain….

ok, you are sipping the ‘ade. “a classy act by Hillary Clinton”, “a ringing endorsement of Obama”…well, duh, do you think the party would have orchestrated anything else? Of course they did what they did.

“preventing a potentially divisive rollcall vote”…no, it wasn’t even potential. No way would the party have allowed anything other that what you saw last night. If the ‘Hill wants to run again, and she would need the party’s support to do it, then she and slick willie better toe the line, and they did. No suprises.

One other thing to add…willie said that in ‘92 that people said he was too young and inexperienced to be prez…just like Barry O. A little difference here…he had been in charge of a state (gov.) for 12 years prior…a bit of executive experience there….Barry has 3 years in the senate…quite the rookie.

I had thought this country finally had overcome these kinds of diatribes. Perhaps this is an indication as to why Georgia has slipped to 47th in SAT scores. This does not bode well.

The Democrats did not refrain from attacking McCain personally because they are such nice people. McCain is a genuine war hero. They knew that if they were to attack him personally it would backfire and cost them a lot of votes. Do you think for one minute they would have shown the same respect for George W. Bush? It is not any “niceness” that Obama has brought to the table, it was just Democrat politics as usual…say anything to win.

Tax and spend liberal ideas of change??? Does anyone really see what is going on or are we stuck in some kind of time warp from the Reagan era? A billion dollars a day in Iraq (while they sit on a surplus), a deficit that if you or I carried they would through us out of our home and we would have to go backrupt, and a fire sale going on with our corporations and iconic buildings (the Saudi’s own 90% of the Crysler building). When will people wake up and see that this country is in trouble? If you want to loose weight you eat less and exercise more. If you want to get out of the deficit, you have to pay more taxes (by the rich) and bring up the lower and middle classes and get them spending again. Wake up people and smell the coffee!

WE DO NOT NEED MORE SOCIALIST CRAP IN THE FREE CAPITALIST USA, EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It did not work in Russia! I have read these evil post and it saddens me that people are still this racist in 2008. It amazes me how a certain group of people “yell” and “scream” for a black athlete all weekend long when there perspective team takes the field or court; however, GOD forbid that same student decides to run for Mayor, Governor or PRESIDENT one day. We can’t grow like this our foolish pride will eventually destroy America.

The last 8 years under the Bush Administration has been a struggle for most Americans. We need someone to at least make a step towards a resolution. The Obama’s are IVY league educated and appear to be decent people; however, he is a politician as well as Senator McCain. I challenge all the haters to run for an elected office and see what dirt they would find under your rug.

We can debate our views, but let’s take race out of the equation and move forward to embrace change and grow as individuals. It’s not fair to next generation One Country, One Team..

No one has been more supportive of off-shore business moves than McCain. Not to mention his undying support of NAFTA, CAFTA, and other policies that have failed this country miserably, economically.

Historically, America has thrived under democratic leadership (“real growth”). The only republican who had results that appeared similarly strong was Reagan (I say “similarly,” because he did so by borrowing money, and thus the growth was artificial).

Whatever you do, republicans, do NOT educate yourselves on the facts. Keep on trying to shape the truth to fit your belief system, and NEVER change your belief system in order to fit with the truth!

Many of the complaints voiced about us had nothing to do with racism, trust me most of the rest of teh world is more racist than most of us any day of the week. It is our attitude that things should be handed to us. They see it from an objective view. I have just proven a point that many of my African brothers force me to notice in my travels. American black are the most foolish people on earth.

Do you really know what the Africans are saying about black men? With this great opportunity this country has to offer, we still blame problems of 40-200 years ago for our high drug abuse/alcohol rates, unemployment and lack of education.

HaHa, Zo, Orlando, good luck in you life and with you loser mentality. You are the reason I can not find quality black men to hire. This mental illness you have will be the demise of the black race period.

You put your hope on Almighty God not the flesh. Obama is a politician period nothing more than a fancy liar with a liberal agenda that will force more business to find alternate methods of reducing their tax burden.

You all may not agree with JD but he is telling you real talk. Also all of teh people who love Obama must understand 2 things. 1. People are free to make their own opinions, and you make yourself sound uneducated when you attack the person instead of their ideas or beliefs. 2. Not every person that does not agree with Obama or think he is the best candidate thinks that Bush has done a good oreven descent job, and just because they do not think Obama is the best Candidate does not make them a racist. Did you all stop to think maybe they just do not agree with his policies, or maybe his lack of experience does scare them. It would be hard to find a principle of an elementry school with less than 15 years of experience and promotions to get a job in schools. So why a president?

Did Bill deliver what was expected of him last night? You bet he did. The man is a pro at this. He politcially postured his wife last night to make sure she stays at the front of the line for the democrtaic party. The Clintons know Obama is going to lose this election. They have now positioned themselves to live in the prime real estate of the democratic landscape. They were both good foot soldiers; both delivered what was needed and expected of them. Obama will lose in 08 and will be regulated to the same place 1st Runner Ups always go. Ted Kennedy will soon be dead and not a threat to the Clinton dynasty. She is waiting with baited breath for 2012. Will it be a long wait in vain? Probably so, but who really knows. Their motives this week have been predicated on making sure they remain the alpha couple for the democratic party. Obama is no match forthe Clintons. Intellectually and politically he is no match for them. Obama didn’t win, Hillary lost. The news agencies were nothing short of disgraceful and unethical in the way this election was reported. I can only assume they know Obama needed, no… that he required a lot of help. We have witnessed affirmatice action at it’s greatest by nominating this impotent man. You all who are blasting Tucker for her over the top salavating support for the The Benign One, she is indicitive of all of Obamas supporters, totallly clueless. McCain 2008.

Racist remarks are uncalled for in this forum. I am an Independent and I enjoyed Bill’s speech last night, but I have a couple of serious problem with the content of it.

First, President Clinton was very fortunate to be in office during the Internet explosion of the 1990’s. The economic upturn had little to do with his policies or leadership. As a matter of fact, once the tech bubble began to burst the economy went into a mini recession that Bill had little effect on also.

Second, to claim that the U.S. went to He** in a handbasket once Bush took over is totally glossing over the defining day of the last 60+ years. 9/11 change the ballgame. We were hit on our own soil for the first time in our history. That day created a domino effect that will last for years to come. Since then we have spent billions of dollars on homeland security and wars. It’s no wonder the economy has struggled to maintain any kind of growth. However, we have/had to spend much of that money because another 9/11 is not acceptable. Fighting terrorist abroad is much more acceptable than fighting them here.

I am not defending some of George Bush’s decisions, but I am saying, we can’t blame him for all of our problems. Stop the name calling and use your heads.

I would like to ask you this: If we are attacked by Muslim extremist one year from now and Obama is president, are we to blame him for what follows?

You read a couple of books make some money and all of a sudden you white LOL!!! Rosco Jenkins come home LOL!! I haven’t seen anybody blame anything on slavery on this post so where is that coming from? In no way are you black at all who do you think your fooling? No historically black college would teach self hatred as you possess they teach compassion understanding patience and wisdom something you know nothing of. Your the opposite of what this country needs your a lost borhter who thinks money is cure all of all your ills Your the one who’s sick…sick of being black you wish you were white but guess what you not and never will be(or are you) instead of judging from your kings throne why dont you spend your time trying to help someone BROTHA up lift someone BROTHA realize that all the material possession you own and the education you claim to have received is only possible because the foolish people you hate had to endure unimaginable struggle for you to even get to the point to where your at. Or didn’t you learn that in college? I know your type your one of them brothers who think marrying a white woman is a badge of honer and a trophy to show you made it not out of love but out of hatred of your own and to distance yourself from what you are and where you came from! Cynthia, the only thing liberals failed to do during their convention speeches was spray Lysol on their candidate.

As with most of the faint praise that Clinton, Biden and Kerry muttered about McCain, it’s all simple contrivance. Comments meant to honor McCain’s distinguished military and political service to this country, while very much factual, are simply a Democrat ruse to deflect the continuing s**-storm about Obama’s decidedly un-American associations with Wright, Ayers, Pfleger, Rezko, et.al. The only two leftists with more political stink and a worse political resume would be Tom Hayden and Jane Fonda.

After a lifetime of ultra-leftist associations and ultra-racist indoctrination, Obama is being rightly “outed” during the general election campaign. And no amount of subterfuge by Clinton, Kerry or Biden can cover the stench of Obama’s leftist past. I am, however, certain that the American people will consider McCain’s lifetime of service versus Obama’s litany of bad judgements and make the right choice.

Meantime, bring out the Lysol.

So there is a black card where do I get my white card or does that make me sound like a fool? I love reading these post some of you are so hypocritical. You say and praise Obama or McCain for something then you lash out at someone for that same thing. Bush has been blamed for everything gone wrong. If, and this is a big if, who will people…especially blacks blame if Obama is elected and gas prices do not go down and inflation coninues to rise and the economy remains weak. You can bet the farm they’ll pin it on Biden or any white guy they can lay blame to, it sure as hell won’t be Obama. Case in point is the new storm headed toward New Orleans. Will the people leave as told? No, they’ll head back up to roof at the last minute then blame Bush. They’ll loot and kill and then blame Bush. They’ll get two thousand dollar debit cards and spike the crime rates up in any and all cities they are bused to. And yes, they’ll still blame Bush.

I am a black female from Chicago and JD is not alone in his stance. There are two songs they can play for Obama tonight when he comes on stage: 1st one dedicated to the the State of Illinois by Janet Jackson “What Have You Done for Me Lately” and James Brown “Talking Loud and Saying Nothing”. He was voted by the people of Illinos to the US Senate to serve and could of use this position as a platform to establish himself. He has done nothing but got the big head because of a speech he gave 4 years ago and spent more time running for President when he has not really worked on behalf of the residents of Illinois. This country is in a recession and he wants to have this big production tonight at a stadium and what was his reason for going to Germany? He has gotten full of himself and all of the signs are there. I can only imagine what he will do if he get elected. He will just be a black democrat version of George Bush, cocky and arrogant.

It is obvious from all of the hate comments displayed here that ideas don’t mean a thing. It is all about who is black and who is white and how many sad things you can say about someone who expressed an honest opinion, like JD. Just remember when the American electorate goes into the voting booth, all of this “political correctness” crap will be outside the curtain and the voter will be in a very private place. We will then see how ready the voting public is for a black president. It’s all about race, plain and simple and the majority of Americans do not believe, with our present state of race relations in this country, that a black president will succeed. We are at last two generations away from this scenario, sad but true.

No see that is were you are wrong I have been stopped and I have had my car serch 6 times last year. Everytime it was by a black cop and on 2 of those occasions the cop even said why are you in a “black” area of town. I promise you are not the only one who has been unlawfully searched. So should I be outragged about that, b/c I am not. I am also 1/4 American Indian, grandmother is full-blodded Cherokee, from those that stayed behind after the trail of tears. So as bad as African Americans may have had it the Native Americans got it a whole lot worse. Another thing every single race or ethnic group has been discriminated against, enslaved and other wise treated horribly inhumane at some point in the history of time. Does that mean that everyone can say that they did this or that to our ancestors, so I have a right to be bitter, distrustful or carrying a grudge. No, these events have happened and they were horrible but the discrimination of a group is a not a worthy reason for that group to feel that everyone is against them. I am also Polish, and German heritage check those histories and see if there has evr been any mistreatment. Know that you are in control of your own actions and nothing that anyone in this country does can affect you from achieving your goals if you are truely commited to achieving them.

Yes I do believe we are folish and said the exactly the same earlier this week. If anyone wants to succeed by planting untruths and lies, blacks are the first to be misled and fooled because many of us will fall for anthing because we will not research to find out the real truths. We jump up and belive the 1st thing someone tells us and will run with it. am black and proud but I will use my God given sense to make my decisions on facts and not emotions just to make history by electing Obama. I am from Chicago and mosts blacks that I talk to who are walking around wearing Obama T-shirts can’t tell me 1 thing they know about his accomplishments. There was a saying long time ago that if you did not want a black person to succeed, put it in a book. So many of us are walking around saying “OBAMA OBAMA” and can’t tell nothing they know about the man they want to run this country. SAD SAD SAD!

The Republican party was founded to abolish slavery. The Democratic party supported slavery and segregation and Jim Crow; fact. A Republican sent Federal troops to Little Rock, the Democratic Governor did nothing.

I am black, and black people always say they want to be treated equal but when someone opposes the establishment the Black media and politicians have established for the so called race people who’s mind have been liberated get labeled Sell out or Uncle Tom.

The majority of black are puppets of the Democrats and the black establishment. Nothing had essentially improved for us in 40 years when the majority of blacks decided to support 1 party.

Even a fool knows how to play the game and not put all their eggs in one basket, but not Negros.

If I was running for office and I was a Republican, I would essentially write off the 12% black vote because 90% vote democratic regardless. Negros in Washington voted for a guy that snored cocaine on camera and believed the white man did it to him.

Many blacks outside of the US laugh at us, because of the wasted opportunity, blaming others for our failures.

Note this day; I have read the book and investigated the footnotes…The book is called The case against Barack Obama. You can get a copy from the library. Obama will have records release soon about his relationship with William Ayers, a known terrorist associated with the Weather Underground.

Note this also, if Obama had to get a security clearence for a high level position with the government, he more than likely would not pass because the FBI investigation takes about 1 year and they investigate your associates.

HaHa, Zo, Orlando, and Ray, the motto of the NAACP is a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mental illness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result when supporting exclusively the Democratic party had failed the black family, and community.

A jackass can earn a degree, a wiseman knows how to use that degree to benefit not only himself but his fellow man.

Obama will be a total failure, Hillary is already preparing for 2012.

So is it truely to be said that the only reason that Obama can loose this election is because of race. I then have two questions 1st. If Obama loose can’t it also be said that people from the continental 48 would not vote for an islander? 2nd. If McCain looses can people say it is because people did not vote for him because he is white?

Sure there will be people to vote for the way the candidate looks. This is not new. People usually vote for a person because of beliefs. However there will be some white people who just cannot vote for Obama because he is not a “pure caucasion”. While ther will also be people who vote for Obama because he is partilly of african American. However I have more faith in Americans than to believe the race will be decided by race. I know one thing the more you tell people that race is the only reason they are not voting Obama the less likely to vote for him. Tell of things he has done in the past not what he will do but what has he done and who did he help. The reason I do not think I will vote for Obama is he does not plan on helping me any. I am upper-middle class with insurance, I have a college fund set up for my son, and I have never recieved any type of government aide, I read my mortgage contract very well and know my payments and have never even been late on one, I did not even take out student loans I busted my hump to recieve a full athletic scholorship. So all of his great promisses are for people other than me. I do not say this in a cocky manner but those people are the only ones Obama seems to care about.

Amy,

Logical adult argument. Obama’s life is probably in danger more than any other candidate from either party. Jay had mug shots of those two whackos in Denver who were supposedly intent on doing him in. This nation is full of those cretins. Alma Powell would not let Colin Powell run because she feared for his safety. If something happens to the Wonder Boy, God forbid, and it can be proven that a white guy was the shooter, the riots for MLK and Rodney King will look like a Sunday picnic compared to this fallout. It would set back a very fragile race relations tightrope that we have in this country by decades and the cost in lives, property and just plain dignity would be incalculable. This is not a right wing diatribe, just a plain and simple fact.

Some questions about Obama:

1) he wants to socialize medical care. Does anyone really want a government that has screwed up every major program they have ever had a hand in such as social security, medicare, income tax, etc., to now run a national healthcare program? The government has not done anything right when it comes to national programs since the government has existed. I do NOT want them now screwing up my healthcare, do you?

2) has Obama completely renounced his white ancestry? All I hear is how he is the first african-american nominee in a major party and how he will be the first black president. However, his mother was white, so doesn’t that make him just as much white as he is black? Just wondering here. Though i am sure a lot will call me racist for even wondering why he never refers to his white heritage, I think it is a fair question. If he referred to himself as white, I am sure many would be wondering what is up with that as well?

3) he wants to “talk with and appease” the radical Muslim leaders. Does he not understand that their religious doctrine is that all who do not believe the way they do must die? You can’t really talk to people like that, in my opinion, because the only acceptable terms for them is convert or die. Before anyone jumps on me about this please note I am referring to the RADICAL EXTREMIST Muslims, not the millions of Muslims who seem to go with live and let live.

For Dan, some answers about Obama.

1) he wants to socialize medical care.

No, he wants a national health-insurance program. Read up on it; learn the difference.

And if you’re so worried about the government “doing everything wrong,” why do you still cheer for our government-run military?

2) has Obama completely renounced his white ancestry?

No, has never renounced any part of his ancestry. His skin color, however, is black, and he is treated as such by society.

3) he wants to “talk with and appease” the radical Muslim leaders.

Also wrong; “talk with” and “appease” are not even close to the same thing. Do you really want a president so violent and close-minded that he REFUSES to even talk with foreign leaders before spending another trillion on another doomed, pointless war?

In 1992, Bill Clinton was singing and holding hands on the stage with Maya Angelou and others, offering a promise of a better life in America. Three years later, he was signing a welfare reform bill that threatened millions of children with poverty. Moreover, the gap between rich and poor increased during the Clinton administration. The current convention is adhering to the usual script-the offering of dreams of a better future for Americans. Is there a Swedish dream or a Danish dream? There are Swedish and Danish realities that do not include millions of people without health care, thousands subjected to the death penalty, one million persons in prison, thousands of homeless persons, and squalor in its cities. Not only are these conditions found in the United States, but most were part of American life at the time of the 1992 Democratic convention.

According to the 2007/2008 United Nations development report the United States was not ranked among the top 10 nations in overall human development. Our nation needs positive social advancement that can be discussed proudly at the next convention. Will a Democratic victory in November and a subsequent presidency create a socially advanced nation, or will aspirations for a more civilized society remain merely a dream to be evoked at the next convention? 1st I never said a word about your name. If I alluded to or you thought I did sorry. Next what exactly should I call myself. 3 of my 4 grandparents are of caucasion descent and my grandmother on my mothers side is full cherokee and being that I spent most of my childhood summers with her I believe that gives me enough cultural credibility to know what her grandparents and great grandparents went through. Also how dare you say that I must not look white enough what kind of racist, bigot filled, hate monger musty you be. You and exactly you are the types of people, both black and white that keep this nations race relations in such a termoil. Yiou make me sick that you claim to be the victim of racism the go and activl;y involve yourself in such types of speech. My stories are straight I know every single live relative of my family tree, and I also know on occasion I have been serched because I was visiting my friends who lived in a different area of town tht I lived in. I challenge you to name 5 policies of the Obama campaign because the more you write the more it sounds like the only reason you are voting for Obama is because he is not white, eventhough he is more white than I am Cherokee, but you have no problem with him saying he is Black. I was explaining my heritage to you and conveying the thought that black people are not the only ones who have had hard times and need to be thankful for the steps those before them made. As for my ora of entilement I have none, I do not expect anything to be handed to me. I do not expect the government to pay for my insurance ( that’s my responsibility to my family) Nor do I expect them to bail me out of a bad investment mortgage. I do not expect them to take care of my children ( I do that). The only thing I expect teh government to do is to keep my freedoms guareenteed in the constitution.

And after that soap box I get down to say this. The things that people have said about what other countries think of our citizens and in particular african-americans is true. Especially those in Asia.

If so then your the sheep and now your referring me to a book called stupid black men and I’m supposed to enjoy it ? WOW! And you asked me if my loyalty is to my race or my country well since I’m labeled “AFRICAN American” and Not just American you can answer that for yourself. I live in a white neighborhood in alpharetta and I went to a white high school in the same area and I see faults in everyone I don’t take 1 race and shove all the problems on them I don’t walk around in a victimization mind state but I also KNOW who I am WHERE I’m from And what being black is about I don’t think I’m better than the people who don’t make as much as I do as some people on this board do! I wont look down with a judgment hand on a culture I obviously don’t understand Ill leave that 4 you! Now run back to the books to “learn” about black people cause you have no interactions with them and you don’t understand them if you did you wouldn’t suggest a black man read a book with such a racist name. I said I am black and I am proud of it but will not vote for someone that I do not believe is qualified. If Barack wants to do something meaningful why don’t he humble down and do his acceptance speech at one of the down ridden housing projects on the Southside of Chicago in the district that he represents and use the money that he is spending for this big unnecessary production tonight to feed the homeless in his district and pay for them ho have a place to lay their head for a night.

Haha I never attacked your race and I do believe you should be angry at some of the things said. However you told me I must not look white enough. So you are a bigot, plain and simple. How would you feel if you got a job and I said you must not look black enough. To your other point about being called an African American. It was the political leaders that were speaking for black people that came up with and intiated the african american term. It is technically the politically correct thing to say. Also the book to which they are referenceing was if i am not mistaken writen by a black guy. Maybe you were talking to the other peolpe withyour comment of learning only from books not rel life. I was the only white member on my college basketball team for three of my four years. I went to church, I went home with, I hung out with, I did everything possible with my teammates as they were my best friends and many still are today. I will have you know that there are many of them who feel the same way you do, while there are also many who feel teh way these others do. The problem is that you expect for people t concede and be nice and never speak down upon your race yet you speak poorly of others race. In this blog you have threatened to revoke someones “black card” on numerous occasions, you assumed that because I was white I must have an ora about me and you also downplayed my Native American past. So are we to take this information to mean you can say and act however you want to us but if we provide you with information we are attacking you and being racist.

You sitting here and telling me I should just accept your views on my culture? Man Please! What do the Asians say exactly? Is it something positive? Didn’t think so! So I’m supposed to just lay down accept defeat at the hands of your opinion NEVER!! Im stand up for my culture my people no matter how much negativity is thrown my way we will never be sheep we will never accept defeat So try if you might but your attempts are fruitless. I’m going to put it like my grandmother used to say only a fool would argue with a fool! Bye Fool!

BJ, I can respect your decision to not vote for someone that you don’t believe in, but tell me when was the last time that you spent anytime feeding the homeless or just spending time in the ghetto yourself? I say this, because you seem like you are being very judgemental of Barack Obama. He is not doing anything that the other candidates are doing. Please, I mean no disrespect, but I think that he is bringing alot to table and that if the tables were turned and Hillary Clinton would have won, I would definitely vote her, because both of their ideas are basically the same. Take a little bit of time and compare and you’ll find that their plans for this nation is somewhat similar. I don’t care which one of them runs for President, all I know is that we (the American people) do not and can not afford another four years of what we have now.

Peace and have a nice day.

Read FOOL I said you should be mad but why must you attack my race. Or is it wrong to be proud of your heritage if you are not black. Because you have said most of the racist comment today. You want to know what the asians said. I will tell you, I was in India when the majority of our discussion came up. In that I was asked and I tried to defend against these questions. Why do the “African” (their words not mine) people of our country blame others and vanquish their opportunity. They went on to say things like why are your prisions flooded with blacks when there ae not that high of a percentage in the country. They also asked why if in our country education is free and we have government programs for poor students to go to college would they blame any failure on anyone but themselves. See in many of the countries that is not the norm for them. Mostly the people in Asia feel that as a society we waste many of the freedoms and oportunities afforded to us. That goes for blacks and whites, but they feel that the black citizens do not appreciate many of these rights and privlages, much less take advantage of them. With that said I am certainly not saying this is an indictment of the whole race or even most. This is a pereption though. I will be the first to say many injustices have happened and continue to happen to blacks in America. However the act of blamming those and saying those who do not agree are somhow racist or haters, or what have you has grown tired in many opinions. You live in America, you are free to do as you please within the constraints of thelaw. Your sucess and failure is due to no one other than yourself, and the company you decide to keep. So explain to me how I am the fool.

JD you are an extreme hypocrite you need to go back and read your post you said and I quote”American black are the most foolish people on earth.” and “This mental illness you have will be the demise of the black race period.” You have already given up and switched sides so whats the use I see why you don’t want to vote for Barack you have no hope you have no will to help anyone but yourself you think its all about you and your precious money. Your already out of the race. As far Tcoach making references to blacks and basketball etc man please! You trying to comment but you can only observe and speculate as always and claim you “identify ” And your right I did revoke his black card cause some “brothas” aren’t worthy I’m completely within my rights to do so. As far as you trying to compare your experience as a white man to mines you can cut that short cause there is no comparison You swear you know but you don’t and ya Never will so take that some of my best friends are black crap back to the stroe cause I ant buying it!

I own a catering business and food that is not eaten I take to the shelters “every” weekend so the homeless and hungry can eat instead of throwing it away. You hit my point when you said Obama is not doing anything different than the others. He is running on the basis that he is different than the other politicans but when a man gets power and money they change baby, including Mr OB.

First off next time ANYONE ask you about black people you should say “Go ask a black person” Cause you evidently have no freaking idea whats going on at all. So for you to speak on the behalf of any black people is horrifying! What you should have said is well black people haven’t had a level playing feild in America yet why just 40 yrs ago they couldn’t even walk through the front door of a restaurant or use the whites only fountain and lest not for get the crack epidemic purposely put in the ghetto by the CIA to destroy there neighborhood and incarcerate as many of them as we could while giving lighter sentences to whites who carry the same drug! And lets not forget the dehumanization of the black man by America by the police and the horrific prejudice that exists in corporate America the breeding of inferiority and the basic ignoring of the needs in there community’s why so basically we had our thumb on there backs and that’s why it is what it is today!

What so you mean I never have for one moment tried to explain to you that I know what you are going through. However I refuse to listen to the how many times have you been pulled over. Also the basketball comment sorry I really did play and those were the configurations of the team. Throught that experience I did gain insight into the culture of black people and of Lithuanian people b/c I had a teammate who was from there. You are stuck in your ideals and refuse to even listen to others opinions or stories. While on the other hand I find it hard to believe you have any insight into my life. Where to earn my scholorship I had to play even better and harder many times b/c coaches were biased in their opinion of white players. Not to mention the number of times I had to deal with racial slurs at games from other players. I cannot tell you of the times that as a white player i heard “oh I thought you were black” or you play baseball. And no these are not important or even drastic episodes. However I felt those eyes peer at me with disapproval as I walked into an all black church, or when I was not allowed into certain clubs with my teammates b/c I was white. You also will never know what it is like to have a nation try to make you feel guilty for being a member of your race, and for the actions of those you had no contact or ever even knew. So I admit I do not understand your culture anymore than you understand mine. But through my life experiences I do feel I have more information and actual open minded thought to present an opinion. Whereas you just hate white people and all black people unless they never ever say anything critical of the black culture or anyone in it. All you do is spit out the same things I have heard for years. Oh you have alot of black friends, yeah I do, most of them I went to school with or played ball with. Have alot of white friends too. I do not have that many hispanic friends(I need more) and I have a fair amount of asian friends. That does not mean I know all about their culture but it does give me insight. On the other hand how many conservtive white people do you associate with on a daily basis, I find it hard to believe you would have any white friends after the things you have said today.

That would have been a hard seel to tell those people in India that you could not go through a door. See most of them had lived in a neighboring country w/i 25 years ago that they were not allowed to go to any school, they were killed for speaking up, and most said they would give anything in the world to have some of teh opportunities we have here. See that is the problem you have a very narrow view of the world and you should be thankful for some of the things you have in this country instead of consistantly b*cing all the time. Were you even alive during segragation, if you were you have that right but if not shut up you were not there so you cannot speak upon it. Also you are right you have not been on a level playing field with affirmative action it was easier for you to be accepted to a college, or to get a job. What about those years you were given an advantage? Now I know you will not answer any of my points you will just say how uninformed I am and something else about how hard it is for you. But for once just try to crawl your way out of your self pity and answer any of the post with facts or events. So I did gain some insight and I think I have more insight than you are willing to admit tell me what was I wrong about. Some of your comments are opinion at best. Do you accept personal responsibility for any shortcomings in your life or is everything someone else’s fault. By the way you poor mistreated black American. Look around teh world. The things done through the 60s and 70s were horrible, but what that got to do with me. Also check around the world it was not long ago in S. Africa they still had segregation.

Copyleft, some responses for you

1) I do stand corrected, as I know he plans on national healthinsurance, but again, our government has never gotten any national programs right. Medicare (a national health insurance program for elderly people) is a prime example…do you think Medicare is a great program, being always on the verge of bankruptcy and having so many rules and regs that many doctors refuse to accept Medicare patients? Why do you think a national healthcare insurance would be any better?

2) why did you ask me if I continue to cheer for the government military? I made no mention at all about the military, but since you brought it up, that is not a national program in the same sense of Medicare, Social Security, income tax, etc., so is irrelevant to my comments.

3) When the Jeremiah Wright debacle occurred, Obama through his grandmother under the bus, alluding to the racism he endured even at home. Since that time, he is touted as black, not half black or semi-black. He does not mention anything about his white heritage, but touches on his experiences as a black man. Sorry, but it seems to me he wants everyone to forget he is half white.

4) Appeasing someone does mean talking to them. I would love to be able to diplomatically solve the problems in the middle east, and no, I don’t want us in war, just the opposite. you stated he would be talking to world leaders, but that is not what I was referring to, I was referring to his desire to appease the extremist Muslim leaders that are not world leaders, just generals in a terrorist organization.

Hope this clarifies my thoughts for you…

To HaHa You seem to have a chip on your shoulder, from what I’m reading here no one said you need to take being disrespected from anyone. It also helps to know that you cannot always aggressively confront every situation because people are entitled to say and think the way they want to.

I am black and do not think that all blacks are foolish because we all do and say foolish things . I think that we have more of tendency to make excuses for bad behavior, lack of education, unemployment, housing etc. What I mean in saying this is that we like to blame others for what we do not and will not do for ourselves. We seem to expect that we are to entitled to or are to given everything.

When you think about all of the great leaders (MLK for example) you read about how hard he worked, he didn’t talk about what was not given to him, he didn’t talk about what he took from someone. He worked and earned respect, followers, people wanted to apart of his circle and work for him and his cause. Why? Because they saw the fruits of what he did when no one was looking.

Obama: We want the Clintons and everyone else to deliver him the altar of the Presidency like a sacrificial lamb.

He a great person, a good speaker, but has not fulfilled his duty here in Illinois as a Senator. For me there is no certain time in my life where I need a black President but I want a President who is focused on the needs of the people in this country and capable of meeting the needs of the world.

Obama is not MLK. He has a long way to go to be great as we all do.

ON the Obama website, there is a list of his accomplishments. He voted for an earned imcome tax credit as a legislator in Illinois. He did not come up with the idea, just voted for it. He asked law enforcement officials to start videotaping confessions and interrogations. That is the extent of his work while an Illinois legislator.

Nothing to brag on there, in fact, he should be embarrassed by it.

Now, in the Senate, he was really productive. He and another senator introduced a bill to allow Americans to go online and see how tax dollars are spent. He was vocal about ethics reform. He tried to help Illinois veterans get disability pay. He traveled to Russia, and he has tried to bring parties together to discuss todays fuel crisis.

WOW!!! After all this, I can tell he will be a real humdinger of a president. He talks a lot, and doesn’t do anything. Sounds like another typical politician. Maybe the change he is bragging about should include that HE DOES SOME WORK, wouldn’t you say?

All I have said is DIRECT from his website, and I left NOTHING out.

This confirms my impression that he is useless, a big talker but not a big doer, and he is very naive.

To RH You are right! Obama is not doing anything different then any other candidate. So nothing changes. He’s not different although it did not take you making this statement for me to realize this. He moves to the left a little and then to right wing side when they ask questions, he stands for nothing, has yet to clarify his plan as president (and it’s getting late). He’s horrible at answering questions unscripted. We need unbiased information on all candidates when voting. I am not interested in viewing candidates web sites written by interns, the best information comes from debates not speeches where the candidates can’t be questioned.

Everyone does not have to spend time in the ghetto to understand what’s going on. The people in the ghetto don’t want to be there themselves so there’s no reason for me to show up either.

I am in the Chicagoland and as with most innercities you have outreach programs and I encourage everyone to reach out in some way with time, money or other resources.

We have to get to a point that we are able to call a horse a horse and not something that fits or caters to our situation. It’s up to you to be what you want, there’s no president that can do that for you.

Dan: Yes, it clarifies your thoughts.

You confuse “talking” with “appeasing,” which is simply incorrect.

You claim that our military is not a government-run operation, which is also incorrect.

You claim that “no government program has ever worked,” which is also incorrect. (I might point out, you’re entering your comments on the INTERNET.)

And you claim that Obama’s main activity is throwing everyone he ever knew “under the bus,” which is once again totally incorrect. He acknowledged his grandmother’s good AND bad points, like a real human being. And he has never once denied being half-white or pretended otherwise.

Just accept that you hate the guy and are looking for excuses to complain about him, okay? Honesty is the best policy.

By Dan

August 28, 2008 3:56 PM | Link to this

I did not say it was not a government run program. I said it was not a national program in the same sense as Medicare or Social Security. Perhaps it is you who is incorrect, as you obviously didn’t read what I said correctly.

The Internet is not an American government program. It was started as an American military project, and it is not at all run by our government. Get real.

I didn’t say Obama’s main activity is to throw “everyone he knew under the bus”, I said he threw his grandmother under the bus when he was hit with the Rev. Wright scandal. Big difference. Quote to me one time he actually said he was white, and I’ll get off this bandwagon.

Just admit it, you hate anyone saying anything bad about that useless waste of space (see my other post above with his list of non-accomplishments) and don’t bother even reading what they actually say so you can ineffectively claim they are wrong.

Hey, maybe, since you understand black culture so well and are so well versed in what it is like to be a black man, maybe you could come down and talk to all of these poor, unfortunate thugs and maybe take the heat off of the NAACP and the major of our fair town. I know all of us would appreciate it and your expertise would be most welcome. Republicans don’t have a chip on their shoulder, they got rid of the chip in the 2006 election. Democrats have several chips on their shoulder since they try to appeal to the overall masses and their message gets lost. Democrats have all but killed of the conservative Democrats, and silenced the centraist Democrats. George Bush has made many, many mistakes however

  • Bush did not tell people to buy homes they could not afford and never planned to live in. a. No money down, 100% financing, interest only loans, buying too much house basing payments on future income, Bush did not sign the contract of these mortages. b. I have no sympathy for people that bought houses for investment purposes. They took a risk and lost. If it had worked out like they assumed it would, they would be living like a FAT CAT.

  • Gas prices, Corn takes away from feeding the world and congress has given subsidies to major Ag companies such as ADM, etc that were designed for small farmers.

  • Ethanol stinks and does not have the same carbon atoms as gas, so you burn more fuel but hey, the enviromentalist love it.

  • Al Gore, Nance Pelospi are major investors in wind and solar power. This is why the are blocking oil exploration. There are vast amounts of reserves in the US and oil shale can provide enough petrolum for 200-500 years.

  • Both Republicans and Democrats are bought off by the lobbyist and until this is correct, we will still have bridges to nowhere like in Alaska, and Congressman like Congressman William Jefferson that was caught with 90K in his freezer and charge with accepting bribes.

Is this the kind of “business” you are running? If so, we need to get the feds to look at your so-called business ASAP!

To all the republican pundits out there who will try to make hay of Obama’s stage setup, if this is all you dweebs can come up with then you’re in serious, serious trouble! No one will listen to your drivel except die hard Limbaugh drug heads.

The American people are not interestered in Obama’s stage prop, they were interested in a man who stated his case to solve the nation’s ills. So O’Rielly and Hoax News, don’t waste your stupidity on this!!

First of all, I never said I like this administration, I hate all politicians m there is no difference between a Democrat or Republican. If the Democrats actually wanted to keep jobs in America, they would have gotten rid of the tax breaks, blame the lobbyist not the business people. Democrats are getting PAID-OFF buy they are suppose to be the party of the commmon man, BULL!!!!

Employees are not stakeholders, period. Obama will be bad for business, there are other emerging markets like China and India where most high tech jobs are going anyway. I like Obama position however on home grown energy however, you can’t off-shore them but humans can be replace with computers which automation has done anyway.

So liberal Democrats, keep up the party atmosphere, a poor man never created a job, this is economics 101.

A business is not a charity case, if that was the case I would organize under 501c3 .

Donald you seem like another fool that can’t think rational and have been sucking up government services. The New Deal under Lyndon B Johnson is a absolute failure, trillions of dollars were spend and we still have welfare babys and baby momma’s however most welfare is given to whites. You people don’t do your research, which is why you can’t made a valid argument and lack clarity.

Reality Donald you can’t face, I am tired of seeing young black buried and my church has to pay for their funeral because this idiot decided to buy 2K rim on a car worth $500. This is insanity but you make your grave by following the crowd.

Bill Cosby make valid comment and the mental ill Negro tried to rack him over the coals for telling the truth,

Even in Atlanta there are murders of young black males everyday and at this rate along with the increase of black abortions, the black male in an endangered species. With the prision rates, where I visit some BROTHERS my organization tries to help these dummies but with a felony record, its almost impossible.

Keep up the good argument Donald and the Donald types, you are an exceptional Democratic voter, Hillary is already looking at 2012 because in reality with the upcoming debates, the country will see Obama is a good speaker only, a college professor, a community activist, a in-experienced politician ONLY.
