“Human-motivation studies traditionally stress well-established needs: food, water, sex, avoidance of pain,” Irving Biederman writes in part.
“What’s been missing from this scientific research is humans’ nonstop need for more information. We are ‘infovores,’” he believes.

This is absolutely no different than the “old days” 40-50 years ago when you used to watch out the window for the mailman or when you used to run to your old rotary dialed telephone everytime it rang - the psychology is the same - it just works faster …………… :o)

Uh, Where to start with this?
First, I believe “Crackberry” is a humerous and somewhat derogaory term used to replace the proper noun “Blackberry.” i.e. My husband is on that stupid Crackberry again. I think your use here would be the rough equialent of asking those who watch a lot of TV, “Are you a boob tube? Do you know someone who is?”
Second, the term Crackberry was funny and somewhat edgy in like, 2000. I’m glad you were able to identify and hop on this story and solicit opinion now that the term has become ubiquitous. I guess now that suburban housewives and seniors have incorporated this phrase (and more correctly than the AJC staff, see above) in to daily use, the crack team of professionals you employ trotted this old horse out.
No wonder you’re loosing marketshare, eliminating positions, and shuttering newsrooms. Nice work, AJC Opinions. Bravo.
