How McCain can win: health insurance

What if Sen. John McCain endorsed an emergency health insurance program for the thousands of workers losing their jobs in the current economic downturn? It could be as simple as a temporary expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) which Congress tried to expand last year, only to see President Bush veto it.

Some states already allow adults to enroll in SCHIP. If McCain proposed an emergency expansion measure this summer- could Speaker Nancy Pelosi oppose it? Would that not show GOP empathy for workers down on their luck? It may strike some in th GOP as a government giveaway program - but those critics likely had no problem cashing their stimulus checks that have been flooding American mailboxes in recent weeks.

So the only way for McCain to win is embrace a liberal, government handout program?

I had no problem cashing my $600 check because it was MY money being returned to me.

Nope, won’t work.

  • McCain won’t do it. It was very popular in his home state, but still he opposed it. He likened it to “out of control spending”.

  • If he did, he’d lose what little he has of the tradional GOP base and add another flip-flop to his already rather lengthy list of position changes.

Here is how Mccain wins: 1: Seal up the borders. 2: Make the Bush tax cuts permanent. 3: Drill here. 4: Go after Obama Hussien on his lack of judgment, experience or lack of. 5: Talk about how the democrat controlled congress has a NINE PERCENT approval rating. 6: Talk about winning in Iraq. 7. Talk about winning the war on islamic terrorism. 8. Pick a conservative as his running mate. 9. Call out Global Warming for what it is. A SCAM!

In other words, rail on liberals the way Reagan did. Go after Obama instead of being scared of being called a racist by his liberal pals. Take on the media as well.

    That’s how he can win.

The stimulus check is my tax money being given back to me. A post tax cut if you will… And why wouldn’t I cash a check from my own taxes?

A government giveaway program like SCHIP’s for adults, is my tax money being given to someone else. Someone who obviously didn’t plan ahead over the last 7 yrs of economic expansion. Someone who given the chance, would most likely choose to live off more of my tax money rather than educate and provide for themselves.

    See the “logical” differences now??

It’s amazing how Obama’s being blamed for problems that has plagued this country for 30 years (energy cost; terrorism; taxes; healthcare). The American People already know what they face if McCain is elected…and extension of the current administration. No one wants to blame Bush (I voted for him twice) or the GOP, but let’s admit it, Obama’s comment in SF was inappropriate, but true…isn’t that what the GOP pride themselves of. McCain and the GOP constantly take away from the “have nots” and give to those who “have a lot”. I’m not for throwing $$$ down a bottomless pit either, but the “haves” get welfare checks every month, and they influence policy. Sorry regular Americans, your interest fall by the wayside, therefore, your 1st & 2nd Amendments are whispered in your ear so that your mind is not concentrating on the real issues. I’m for fairness, if the big wigs get charity, why shouldn’t the middle-class? And, for those criticizing Obama’s experience, or lack thereof. This Country’s finest Presidents were those with the least experience (George Washington; Abe Lincoln; and FDR) Also, people thought Regan was crazy too, he had big dreams like Obama. Maybe that’s what we need, someone who isn’t infected with too much experience like the ol’ fools who supposedly have it. McCain has been in the Senate for 30+ years and hasn’t done anything…except get hit by a train.” (Oh Brother Where Art Thou).

Where did we get the idea that George Washington was inexperienced? A lifetime military man, General in two wars, a successful farmer and distiller… a long resume of executive and entrepreneurial leadership.

Obama was a ‘community leader’ (whatever that is), had 4 years in the Illinois House (where he was mostly voted ‘present’) and basically began running for President after a few months in the US Senate. He has no resume. Don’t even mention them in the same breath.

People, there is only one way to have Presidential experience…be the President. George Washington was a soldier, not a politician, but he surrounded himself with savvy politicians; Lincoln served one term in the House…like Obama. Obama could be a great President, he may be horrible. But, when we base presidential effectiveness on military experience and tax cuts…you’re crazy. Hell, I was in the Marines, educated, and I’m not a liberal; do I qualify to run the country…oh, I’m not 35…maybe in about 4 years I’ll run.

People overlook what he’s done, but usually how people run their campaign is how they run the country…he’s been successful. McCain wants to keep our troops in Iraq for 100 years, but he won’t extend their GI Bill for Veterans and voted against Military Personnel raises…Reagan gave U.S. Military high raises because he valued their service. McCain wants to keep them broke and uneducated so he can use them. Yet, he wants to make find every reason to keep the super rich happy. If you look at his track record, all of his policies are to take benefits from the poor and middle-class and give them to the super rich…yet he tell you how much he care for the “American People”. Not everyone has a hot wife worth hundreds of millions of dollars, I bet he won’t oppose any alcoholic beverage policies. And, I am not opposed to flip-flopping if you realize that your way is not in the best interest of the country. That’s what got us in this mess in the first place…refusal to flip-flop; that and arrogance. The GOP use the war to scare citizens into thinking that only they can get us out of this mess because they put us in it. I rather have new ideas than the same ones that don’t work.

My god, Reagan must be spinning in his grave to hear that a marxist populist whose wife has evidently had very few times in her adult life to be proud to be an American is being compared to him.

Here’s the thing. I don’t think McCain is necessarily the answer, but how can punishing those who sacrifice everything in their lives to build a company that gets to a point where it can employ and provide for the livlihoods of others while rewarding those who simply want to suck the teat of government pillage makes absolutely no sense.

If, and its a might big if, Obama is elected, I will probably scale back, reduce my income for a few years and not take on any major expansion efforts. I will therfore probably have to lay of the bottom 10 - 25% of my workforce to cut costs, and wait it out.

I don’t really worry about it because I know how to crank it back up again when the economy starts moving under more friendly leadership. The only people who get screwed are the ones with the employee mentality - and they are the first ones that will come back begging for a new J O B when I put out the (virtual) help wanted sign.

The people you think are going to get their just desserts aren’t - they will sit on the sidelines, not invest, not take risks, and not expand businesses to add jobs until it makes good economic sense not to.

Windfall profits tax for big oil? Who gets punished? The retirement funds for the big unions, that’s who - they own tons of big oil stocks - it’s not going to be the CEO who make 10 million a year -he will simply go to another company that needs visionary leadership.

Be careful of those who recommend you cut off your nose to spite your face, and be leery of millionaires who pose as being “just like you” - they think you are weak, stupid, and will vote for them no matter what they do - so long as they convince you all of your problems are someone elses fault.

I can almost assure you that if you are not doing as well in any area of your life, it is becuase of your own decisions, not due to some boogey-man hiding in the closet.

Obama will lose becuase his closet has yet to be emptied - it will be, at a time of the RNC’s choosing, and it will come so fast and so furious that he won’t be able to respond or recover.

You’re living in a dream world if you think “drill here” is going to make a dent in gas prices. The fact is, there isn’t enough oil in the U.S. to have a significant impact on the world price. When will you clowns ever learn that politicians are your #1 problem?

These clowns are in the pockets of the bankers who stole your freedom and sovereignty back in 1913.

Now you clowns are slaves of the U.S. corporation and do not even know it.

You have been lied to all your life. What you learned about government and history in school was all a big fat lie.

You have no rights whatsoever and are the property of the U.S. corporation aka the UN/IMF.

This is why the state can take your kids away from you.

Unfortunately whenever you apply for a birth certififcate and social security for a child you are merely enslaving your offspring to become property of the U.S. corporation.

Barak and John didn’t tell you this little secret did they? no

Your taxes go to the United Nations/IMF which owns the IRS.

    The republic must be restored.

Do not count on any politician to do anything for you.

Your forefathers provided everything you need.

A few crazed, free masons, and bankers managed to corrupt your congress to dupe you.

Wake Up people. There was a reason why slaves were prevented from being literate.

The same thing is going on today. The truth is never in the mainstream media. The mainstream media is simply designed to distract you from engaging in critical thinking

Every president since FDR, when your country was stolen has been a member of the CFR except for JFK.

We all know what happened to JFK.

He got his effing brains blown out for not carrying out his orders.

Now do you really want to waste your time voting for Obama or Mccain?

Obama does not have a lot of experience but there is no direct correlation between the amount of experience someone has and how well their will be at being president. Being a good president is mostly intangibles.

Nixon has the finest political resume of anyone elected president. He was never considered a great president. After Watergate he was considered pretty bad because of character flaws.

The president with the least amount of political experience, not including Military/Generals, is considered one of the GREATS. Even Obama has more experience than this president. That president is Abe Lincoln. Lincoln served 1 term in the US House and decided to not run again because he was going to lose. He was against a war that was popular in his district. Lincoln became politically famous several years later, when he ran for a US Senate seat, with the Lincoln vs. Douglas debates. The debate dealt with slavery but Lincoln lost the US Senate run. Two years later he ran for president and won ;).

Basically Lincoln was a speech giver without the political history to back up his words. He was lucky to beat a more powerful senator, William H. Seward from NY, for the 1860 party nomination. In 1859 Seward was seen as a lock for the party nomination. Sounds very familiar ;).

In the fall election things fell Lincolns’s way.

    Rusty,

I don’t think it has anything to do with “American Idol”. It may just be generational. The next Generation is ready to pick “their” president. That is what helped President Kennedy win. Nixon had a much better resume but just didn’t have “it”.

Obama acknowledged his youthful image, saying in an October 2007 campaign speech, “I wouldn’t be here if, time and again, the torch had not been passed to a new generation.”

Obama does extreme well in the under 40 ago range and holds his own in the 40 - 55 range. The 18 - 40 years range has the largest amount of registered non-voters. Metro ATL is importing these this age range every year. It may be a gold mine waiting to be tapped.

Americans always take a candidates Military service with a grain of salt. It didn’t help McCain against Bush in 2000. It didn’t help Bob Dole against Clinton. It didn’t help Kerry against Bush in 2004.

Candidates benefit from military service when it has been relatively recent. The fact that Bob Dole served in WWII didn’t mean as much in 1996. You respected what he had did but that was it. McCain may have the same issues since probably half the country was born after the Vietnam War ended or have no memory of it. You would have to be almost 50 to have a “real” memory of it. The next generation remembers the 1st Desert Storm as their first war.

McCain can only win in blackface. That works because he’s already got a vaudeville act.

No, I remember the first time any of us heard the name Obama. 2004 Democratic Convention. The speech. Remember the buzz? A new and rising superstar politician? Every bit of data that our six senses received about Obama were positive and enthusiastic. As we watched this man, we realized he was more than advertised, and we tucked away our approval for some future caucus.

Then, out of the pack like a screaming mimi, he burst through the nomination process. This was Grassroots Movement 101.

Now we are in the final turn. A black man will be our next president, and our founding vision will have come to fruition: Justice for all.
