Cholesterol drugs for kids?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends wider cholesterol screening and more aggressive use of cholesterol-lowering drugs in kids as young as 8 to combat heart problems when they become adults.

Give statins to children? Statins have side effects, including constipation, attention deficit, ritalin allergy, clymidia, and excessive ear wax. Sure, give children statin RX’s. But Why stop there? Why not give them Viagra too? Or LSD? Look how well the Baby Boomers turned out!
This country has no shortage of do-gooding know-it-alls. They first started poisoning me when I was only three with a little thing called castor oil. Well I took castor oil once……..ONCE! Then you quacks put flouride in the water. It will help develop healthy teeth and gums. HOOEY! I have tooth decay, plaque, advanced gingivitis, and bad breath with a fifteen foot range. I once got a car-jacker to surrender and saved my new hybrid, just by talking using alot of “H” sounds.
Then it was an aspirin a day to prevent strokes. Then it was bee pollen. Then St. John’s Wort. What is wrong with the human body as the stork gave it to us? Huh? Why cant you do-gooders just sit there and do nuthin? HUH?

Drugs? Screw that! If kids have a weight problem by age 8, then they should be removed from the diligent care of their parents and put into military school. Period!!
It is cheaper to raise good children than pay for countless generations of self-inflected health, and other, problems. I mean, if a parent can’t even teach their child proper eating habits, then how on earth are they going to teach them any of the other skills they will need to make a positive contribution to society??
Sorry, but it’s called self-responsibility! Use it or lose it..

Its just like when they tried to scare everyone into getting their teenage daughter the vaccine for the HPV virus. They exaggerated the problem - and now young girls are having all kinds of problems because the Einstein pharmaceutical companies didn’t study the drug enough.
I wonder what kinds of side effects will show up on these young kids getting cholesterol medicine at the age of 8. Maybe they will have erectile dysfunction by the time they are 15. Then they will start telling us how our 16 year olds should be taking Viagra.
Hey moms - shut off the TV and video games and send the kids out to play kick ball once a day. That is how we used to control cholesterol in kids.

why the concern, we already give active kids ritalin, so the parents don’t have to discipline them. So give them statins so they don’t have to worry about their diet. Remember its always someon elses fault.

Most cases of high cholesterol and heart conditions are directly linked with obesity. Maybe, we could try getting them off the couch and not stuffing Mc fried fat in them, before we throw another side effect filed drug at them. Just a thought.
