Hillary and the Energizer Bunny

Today’s Mike Luckovich cartoon features the Energizer Bunny exhausted from watching Hillary Clinton, who keeps on running and running and running…

After last night’s stunning victory in Kentucky, should she continue running? And even if you don’t support her, do you admire Clinton’s tenacity?

Wow - I haven’t looked at a Luckovich cartoon since he started drawing our President to look like a monkey! I was offended by these depictions of Mr. Bush and was boycotting the AJC’s link to his editorial nonsense. Has Mr. Luckovich and the AJC ever apologized for these offensive actions?

Hilary should be greatly admired, she is super strong, she is going after what she wants, she believes she is the better candidate and I wish she had rhe opportunity to prove it.

Yes, I admire her. I think she is just what this country needs…someone who has the perseverance, tenacity, strength, know-how, savvy, knowledge, intelligence, etc., to lead us back where we used to be - world leader! Obama has none of this. If he wins, we are in more trouble, added to what GWB has put us through. I fear for my beloved country. And, yes, she should keep running and winning.

Charles,

Do you even know what EDITORIAL cartoons are? This country has a long history of lampooning political figures — both Democrats and Republicans. Don’t let your bias get the best of you. Caricatures exaggerate physical characteristics. That is the art form. Luckovich is one of the best in the business — even if you disagree with his politics!

I don’t admire her. I think that she is still running for reasons that her insincere. Prior to this race I was a Clinton supporter. I argued many times for her and her husband, but I believe they have shown their true selves during this race.
HOWEVER, if she were to become the nominee, I would vote for her. There is no way I would allow my personal feelings towards her to rule my rational judgment.

Her elite privilege will keep her in this race until the DNC.

Hillary’s the candidate for me. I’ve been rooting for her to run from president ever since she was elected senator. I’m still holding out hope that she somehow gets the nomination.

The only way Obamalama would get my vote if he’s nominated is if he names Hillary as his running mate. Otherwise, this Democrat’s voting McCain.

It would be far easier to give up. But I admire tenacity. If America is ever in a downward spiral, I want people like Hilary defending us with a losing hand, fighting to the last, rather than from a blustering loser like Bush, who is simply a winner only when he has the support of his family and friends with wealth, finances and resources. Hilary may be defeated by overwhelming numbers and resources, but she will never be a loser.

John - Charles is obviously referring to the double standard that it’s OK and an “art form” to make Bush look like a monkey, but it’s not OK to have Obama look like one.

Is that double standard lost on you?

I admire nothing about the Clintons, period! However, even Hillary would be better than Obama! He is so extremely liberal and socialist, and, has not put forth any hint of a real agenda for the country that can be acceptable by any rational voter! These nuts play on those in the electorate that are uninformed on true issues and facts, are indoctrinated by government schools and are in general anarchist looking to degrade the real USA just to get any handout they can that the government rapes in taxes from the successful!! Anyone who votes for any liberal needs to be banned from future elections! And their new code name “progressive” is indeed intended to hide their true agenda of liberalism, socialism, communism, marxism and fascism!

No, I do not admire Hillary Clinton. I do not admire anyone who cannot play by the rules agreed to at the start of the campaign. While it is a travesty that Florida and Michigan will not be counted, due to their republican representatives, she was the only person on the ballot. That is hardly a fair primary election. Oh, by the way, I am a “white working class” woman, who is in total support of Barack Obama. Looks like she doesn’t have her demographics quite figured out. I”m sorry, but if Mr. Obama were to pull that ‘white working class’ remark, there would be outrage. This woman has disgusted me since the 90’s. Sure, I’d love to see a woman in office. Just not this one.

I guess with some of the Liberal posters here the gloves can come off - it’s okay to depict Obama as Curious George now :)

No, I do NOT admire her. She is annoying as all get up. I wish she would go way and quickly. I’m Republican and I’m voting Obama. If Billary was nominated, I would vote McCain or not at all. I DO NOT like or respect the Clintons — EVER!

I do not admire someone who is selfish and self-centered. Hillary Clinton only cares about herself and not the interest of the Democratic Party. Early on I was a supporter, then i realized she does not have my parties in mind. She needs to stop now before it is two late. Her determination is not admirable it is sad and pathetic.

Why are a number of people so afraid of Obama, or any candidate becoming president? I will not be ruled by fear! I don’t care who the president is, I will prosper in life, because God promised me I will.

Vinnie,

Obviously, you don't understand the difference between an abhorrent racial stereotype and an exaggeration of the size of Bush's ears! Bush is not drawn to look like a monkey; just a moron with big ears.

I believe continueing her campaign is just self-serving. I am neither an Obama, Clinton, or McCain supporter at this point. Personally I think their are far great minds that could serve our country with the kind of leadership and direction that I think we are lacking today, but the brutality of the process certainly discourages some from even entering the race. I remember when she said her 8 years in the White House gave her valuable experience to be President. If that is so, then “The Bush Twins” have the same amount of White House experience as Hillary. I agree that I would love to see a woman President, just not THIS woman.

The historic nature of casting a “real” vote in this campaign should not be ignored. For African Americans and women pushing that vote button has been a long time coming and touches the deepest part of our hearts and souls. Giving people who have not yet had that moment demands patience and a step back by those who have already exercised that right. Chill out, people, and let it unfold. It will not harm you or the party.

Joyce, You wrote.. Yes, I admire her. I think she is just what this country needs…someone who has the perseverance, tenacity, strength, know-how, savvy, knowledge, intelligence, etc., to lead us back where we used to be - world leader! * Going back?? Shouldn’t we be going forward? That is the problem now. We need to put focus on the issues here in our country and not focusing on being the World Leader. We are so busy trying to show the rest of the world how they should run their countries when we have our own plights and downfalls. The focus should be the future of the American people not what the rest of the world is looking for us to be. Believe me the rest of the world is not jumping to help us out when we have disasters and homeless children here. I don’t see telethons in other countries to save the poor in America or anyone raising money for the Katrina victims or Tornado victims in Arkansas, Kentucky. and so on. But we gladly dispose of billions overseas and send our jobs overseas for tax cuts. Going back to the 90’s is impossible & backwards. Going forward is the right direction and Obama is the Change we need to take us there. If Hillary wins the nomination… I WILL vote for her because the main focus should be preventing McCain from taking office. By saying you will vote for McCain if Obama wins…that is a sad remark and you are not loyal to your party. Look at the Republicans. Majorities really don’t want McCain but he is their candidate and they are behind him because they want to keep control of the White House. The fear you have if Obama takes office is the fear of wanting change. And I do believe she should keep running until we have a nominee. Which will be Obama!*

The reason people think it is ok to depict Bush as a monkey and not Obama is because still in this age and time, white paople are considered racist and mean if we down a black person. It is sad because we cannot really speak our feelings without fear of causing bad feelings between blacks and whites. AND unfortunately I see no change in this.

This primary contest is important—after all, we ARE basically electing the president right now.

Whoever winds up with the Democratic nomination WILL be president next January, so the process deserves close scrutiny and careful following of the procedural rules. Hillary’s not breaking any rules by staying, but I doubt that will lead to victory.

Maybe President Obama will offer her a cabinet position to help smooth over their differences; we’ll see.
