Edwards for Veep?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Former presidential candidate John Edwards has endorsed Barack Obama. The backing could give Obama a significant boost, ultimately by releasing his delegates and encouraging them to vote for Obama.
Speculation in some quarters is that he might end up again as the Democratic vice presidential candidate. Do you think Edwards is a good choice, particularly compared with the so-called “dream ticket” of Obama-Clinton?

What a joke that would be “Obama-Edwards” it might as well be “Obama-McCain” or “McCain-Obama” if that is the case. I think that it is a shame that all these so called delegate and other people was all for Sen. Clinton at the beginning and now that she is losing they all decide to jump ship. I think that they should be a law that says once you indorse someone you have to stay with them until they quit running. This switching back and forth is crazy. Know wonder the United States is in a mess. We just can’t trust any of them because they don’t know what they want. They all lie to get what they want and then to hell with the American people and only think of themselve. If something great should happen and Sen. Clinton should start winning what are they all going to do jump back on the band wagon with her. What ever happen to loyalty to someone. All these so called friends of Sen. Clinton all these years were never really friends because friends stay with you until the end. I will never vote for any of these people running for office in Virginia again. They all supported her in the beginning and now have switch sides. As for Sen. Edwards and Sen Obama being on the same ticket what a joke that would be. Sen. Obama or Sen. Clinton will not be president if they are not on the same ticket and then we will be in a mess because we will have a Bush back in the White House and we will never get out of this mess Bush got us into. Anyone that support Sen McCain is just as crazy as Bush and deserve what they get. It will be a nighmare if McCain becomes President. He will probably have a heart attack on the fist crisis we have and then all the Evangelicals, Conservative, Bible talking Christian will surely take over America. America needs Clinton-Obama or Obama-Clinton to get America back to where we need to be not McCain and who ever he picks.

Edwards would be a terrible VP choice. His shtick is the poor and most Americans don’t want to hear his class warfare shtick. He has had no foreign policy experience and does not seem sincere. A better choice would be Wesley Clark or Jim Webb, because of their military experience, something Obama would need. He needs a fighter on the campaign and Edwards is to wimpy.

I think that John Edwards would be a great VP. He can bring the white middle class and less educated whites to Obama’s camp.
The right should be concerned, John Edwards will help other whites see past the smokescreens that are a product of both the Right and Hilary’s “Attack Dog” verbal loops of miseducation. The constant “Scare Tactics” to make people afraid that they will somehow suffer under Barak Obama’s leadership. Nonsense. John Edwards will be very eloquent and chose his words well as he helps a large percentage of “white people with good intentions” to understand that Obama is not Muslim (he is Christian), and to understand that Obama is not defined by Rev. Wright and he walks, talks, and acts on his own accord. He will help folk understand that the topics that the Rev. discussed were not born of this man, do need to be discussed, but this is not the time or forum. John Edwards understands that we will tackle race relations, poverty, war, diplomacy, education, foreign policy, health care, immigration, the trade deficit, and whatever else with a clear focus and head on under an Obama administration, and he wants to be a part of it.
Remember this all: Obama is half-white. Obama is half-white! He will listen to every opinion and read every relevant document and make the best decision for EVERYBODY! He is a barrister. He is perfect for our country at this time. Please, everyone who is on the fence, listen to what he says and look at what he does, not at the distractions that are constantly thrown in your face. OBAMA IN ‘08!

The Veep needs to have experience & gravitas to complement Obama’s youth and enthusiasm. A Mike Gravel or Ed Rendell (even though he’s on Team Hillary).
John Edwards is quite possibly the only other nominee-candidate in the field with LESS experience than Obama.
No thank you.

I guess the current posts show that libs are still in bed. Hmm, I wonder what the percentage of conservative posts compared to lib posts there are before say 10am?
Anyway, I hope he does pick good ol Edwards. The result this time would be worse than last time for the dems. But, Edwards only has 2 of the 4 components that I figure will be the vp candidate. He is male and white. However I predict that the vp canditate will also be more centric and older. Obama needs the partnership of the more established element in the party. He is young and inexperianced, he is relatively young and he is black, therefore he needs somone to attract the more established parts of the party.
Edwards, is far too liberal for the ticket. Obama already has people talking about his leftist ways. And even tho Edwards is no spring chicken, look for a veep with a little more gray and a hair or two out of place.

Typical for an ambulance chasing, 30,000 sq ft home “green candidate”, $400 dollar haircut, I’ll take 50% of your court judgement, anti-povery lawyer. The guy does not have a single moral fiber in his body. Why didn’t he endorse someone 3 months ago—maybe he just wants to cozy up with the winner so he can get a plum job, no matter how much he might agree with him/her. The only thing worse to call him than a four letter word is what he is—a trial lawyer.

Leon, you should ask your doctor if Paxil is right for you? What a rant?
Besides, you can be for a person until you see that person start to go in a direction that is totally against what this country should stand for. I say that because I adored Hillary & Bill Clinton. I thought they were an awesome team and there would be nothing that could stop them. However, when she started to lose and she made the comment that “Sen. Obama was not a Muslim ‘as far as I know’.” She lost me. Because the implication (the seed) of doubt had already been planted against her fellow Democratic candidate. I washed my hands of her then and I will NOT VOTE positive on anything that has to do with Sen. Hillary Clinton PERIOD.
Socrates said: “When the debate is over, slander becomes the tool of the loser.” And that describes Sen. Clinton to a “T”.

Just imagine the panic among the GOP leadership at the thought that even the “safe” southern states might suddenly be in play! Edwards is a southerner and a populist, with a LOT of working-class appeal.
The thought that the south might not be taken for granted has the Repugs wetting their pants in terror.
That said, I think Edwards would do more good as Attorney General than VP. I hope he winds up with that slot rather than sitting around in the Vice-Presidency, twiddling his thumbs. We need action!
Then again… Cheney has redefined the role of the VP, hasn’t he? Maybe Edwards can be an unaccountable god-king, mastermind, power-behind-the-throne VP too! (snicker)

People seem to think that if Obama is robbed of the nomination that we will vote for Hillary —- I say —- H*ll NO.
I will stay home.
So just as they are worried about Hillary supporters not voting for OBAMA - they need to worry about Black Folks feeling - that once again we have been robbed. WE beat her fair and square - and she is doing every dirty trick she can to scare people into voting for her.
I WOULD rather - stay home than vote for Hillary!

This is to By Traci. Are you forgetting that it was Obama and Edwards who were attacking Sen. Clinton in the beginning and after listenig to people she realize that she needed to change her way of campaining or else she would not have a chance. So Traci it was ok for them to attack her is that what you are saying. I bet that if Obama was not running you would be voting for Sen. Clinton 100 percent I’m I right. Since this has been about a black/white man less not forget he does have white in him so he is not totlly black and a white woman that it has been proven over the year that most black peple have never voted and the only reason they are voting for Obama is because he is black/white less get real here. In the past most black didn’t care if they voted or not. Because it was going to be a white man to win anyway so why bother. If it was a white man running against Sen. Clinton she would have already won the Demo Party and you would be backing her already. It is people like you that make me sick. So keep you A* at home and don’t vote and when things don’t get any better and you are standing in the soup line or gas line and wonderning where your next meal is coming from because it took all your earning to pay rent. But you can bet your last dollar you will be the first to open your mouth to complain and know one wants to hear you complain because it is people like you with this stupid racists attitude if things don’t go your way then you are going to take your marble and go home well stay home, don’t vote and then keep you damn mouth shut when you don’t have food to feed your family because you can’t make ends meet. So just stay home birth some more babies and ask for food stamp because that is where you are heading with the kind of attitude you have. Better yet go and vote for McCain because people with your attitude we don’t need in the Democracy party. Yes, I want Sen Clinton to win but you can bet you sweet a* if she doesn’t and Sen Obama win then I will be the first in line to support him because we can not stand another four years of Bush and that is what we are going to get with McCain if he should win. People need to wake up because America is in trouble and quite acting stupid about staying home and not supporting whom ever is the winner. WAKE UP PEOPLE THIS IT NOT A GAME, NOT A DREAM BUT THE REAL THING. PUT YOUR DIFFERENCE A SIDE AND SUPPORT EITHER SEN. CLINTON OR SEN. OBAMA WE HAVE TO UNITE AS ONE IN ORDER TO TAKE BACK AMERICA AND MAKE IT RESPECTABLE ONCE AGAIN. SO YOUR CANDIDATE DIDN’T WIN, IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DIE OVER THIS AT LEAST I HOPE NOT AND IT SURELY NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. LIFE CAN’T BE PERFECT FOR EVERYONE WHITE DON’T OWE BLACKS ANYTHING NOR DO BLACKS OWE WHITE ANYTHING WE NEED TO GET OVER THIS KIND OF ATTITUDE. BUT WE CAN UNITE AS ONE AND MAY THE BEST PERSON WIN AND LESS HELP KEEP THE REPUBLICAN OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE. SO COME ON TRACI PLEASE RETHINK YOUR ATTITUTE AND VOTE FOR WHO EVER IS THE WINNER. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

I think Edwards would not accept the VP slot again. Given his commitment to reducing poverty in America by 50% in ten years, I think he would prefer to be Sec. of Health & Human Services; that way he could use the power of the federal govt to both reduce poverty and inplement universal health care.
However, my preference would be to see Edwards as President Obama’s Attorney General and let him clean up the politicized Justice Department.

Bill Richardson would be an ideal candidate for vice president. Yet, I still think that America(just read some of these blogs on the AJC) is not ready for a president of African descent. If there is an African-American and Hispanic American on the same ticket, every redneck across the country would come from under thier rocks and vote. I like Obama, but I think reality going to set in real soon. Get ready for the dirtiest, most muckraking presidential elcetion in sges.

The thing about the democrap race is that it is showing the American people who the real racist are in our country. NOBODY gets 92% of a groups vote unless they are voting on race alone. OHB would not even be where he is without the white vote but wait to see what happens if he does win he will turn on the non-black citizens just like all the Black supporters of Hillary turned on her. But that is not going to happen because OHB is not going to win because of his involvement with Reverend Wright. You democraps are in some fatasy land just like you in the last two elections. The republicans do not even have to a strong person running to beat you because of your party’s left wing side controlling it. You are crazy if you think OHB could win. I don’t like Hillary but she has the best chance to beat McCain. John Edwards is a joke and to thing he will help win the South is just as crazy.

Isn’t there anyone out there who has had enough of the fighting and discord in America? Face it-the Republicans have beat this state and country down. There was a time when you may not have liked what the democrats were doing when they were in charge of things at the Georgia State Capitol, but I can guarantee you the leaders of the state had it’s citizens best interests at heart—not so anymore. Roy Barnes was, without a doubt, the most intelligent, personable, progessive, caring Governor we, as a state, were privileged enough to have serve. People didn’t like his ideas because they didn’t take the time to understand them and they definitely didn’t have his insight as to where Georgia would end up without aggressive traffic solutions—look where we are now. And, let’s definitely not talk about education - his ideas would have atleast gotten us out of dead last in the nation. He was called “King Rat” by many and other unflattering names and booted out of office. Now, as times change, there seems to be another politician dubbed the esteem title of “King Rat” and it ain’t Roy Barnes-it’s a Republican serving the state right now. Yes,we are currently last in the country in education, have the highest teenage pregnancy rate, and still worship a piece of cloth more than our senior citizens and children. Get a clue people. Roy Barnes would be the best VP, if not him, John Edwards. I would have preferred John Edwards as President but that’s not how the cards fell. And, I think it is time for us to sit back and say it’s okay for a black man to be president. I’m a middle class white woman, I have an opinion, and that’s my right.

What a thoughtful comment by Thomas Paine! I strongly supported JRE in 04 and 08…But I couldn’t agree more with his thoughtful comments:

Sure… put that loser on the ticket. What a Moron. His schpill is I represent the poor but he just built at 30,000 sq ft home in North Carolina, pays $400 for a haircut and his wife, Elizabeth Edwards is a Hillary Clinton supporter. Edwards has sat on his rump for 3 months waiting to see who would win so he can brown nose his way into the VEEP spot. Obama is nothing but a Marxist. For those of you who do not know the definition….
a belief that capitalism is based on the exploitation of workers by the owners of capital
a belief that people’s consciousness of the conditions of their lives reflects material conditions and relations
an understanding of class in terms of differing relations of production, and as a particular position within such relations an understanding of material conditions and social relations as historically malleable
a view of history according to which class struggle, the evolving conflict between classes with opposing interests, structures each historical period and drives historical change
Read Obama’s books and listen to the interview questions he answers… NOT the prewritten speech that someone else has written for him. He’s going to LOSE.
FOR THOSE OF YOU planning to stay home during this election. DO NOT!! That is a sure way for this country to turn into a socialist environment. Even if you don’t like McCain, wouldn’t it be better to agree with hims 40% of the time that disagree with Obama 100% of the time?
