Is McCain a Bush clone?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Columnist Arianna Huffington writes that Sen. John McCain - who told her he did not even vote for George Bush in 2000 has now “morphed into an older and crankier version of the he couldn’t stand voting for in 2000.”
Writes Huffington: “The John McCain the media fell in love with in 2000 isn’t on the ballot in 2008. And the proof has all but jumped up and grabbed the media by the throat: the ring-kiss of “agents of intolerance” Falwell and Robertson; the decision to make permanent tax cuts he twice voted against, saying he could not “in good conscience support” them; the campaign finance reformer replaced with a candidate whose campaign is run by lobbyists and fueled by loophole rides on his wife’s jet; the hard-line stance against torture replaced by a vote allowing waterboarding; the guarded-by-a-battalion stroll through the “safe” neighborhoods of Baghdad; the use of Karl Rove as an advisor … and the embracing of the disastrous policies of a man he so abhorred he would not vote for him.”
Has McCain become a Bush clone?

HELL YES! He wants to continue the reckless and unnecessary war in Iraq with the objective of having a continual presence. He wants to make the tax cuts for the uberrich permanent using the twisted logic that it would be a tax increase if they expired. Both of these policies are directly responsible for the dollar tanking to third world status. He’s a typical Rethuglicon willing to deceive and lie to get votes. He continues to play his Vietnam POW experience as if it is relevant today. He’s a partisan political hack and his election will perpetuate the economic decline of the country. If you like paying $4.00+/gal for gas, increasing food prices, and having our soldiers killed or maimed then McCain is your man.
When you vote Rethuglicon, you vote against your own best interests. And McCain is living proof.

Can you do a better job at explaining yourself? What makes him better? Is it simply because “he is a White Man?” If this is the case, then, you are just wasting my and other bloggers time. Please go somewhere else. We are trying to have an intelligent conversation here.

If McCain is voted into office it would be just like Bush getting elected to a third term. If you are a person that is just making ends meet, you may not want to vote republican. They do not have your best intrest at heart. Stop allowing these talk show hosts to fill your brain with all of their propaganda. They are rich and you are not. They got you to vote for Bush the first time (idiot), that’s why you are having a hard time finding a nice blue collar job. Let’s leave this voting thing to us intellectuals. We saw what happened when certain people where allowed to vote(Bush was elected)

Raise your taxes so we can continue to pander to the big Government solves all solution.
By the way, how can a rookie like Obama win or even think about running for President?
What has he ever done to reach across the isle?
Matter of fact, what has he ever done for anyone?
Democratic Party = Socialism + Higher Taxes, Weak of Defense>

If you like to spend $4.00+ for gas you can thank the democratically controlled congress not the President. Before the Dem’s took over in ‘06 we were paying $2.00 a gallon now it looks like the dollar has tanked and oil has spiked out of control. I think the 535 idiots on the hill are to blame not the 1 in the white house.

Anyone who has followed politics for the past few years will realize that Mr. McCain is nothing like Mr. Bush. Mr. McCain will reach across party lines to work on projects like the Group of 14. He voted against the Bush tax cuts because they were not accompanied by spending decreases.
One item for everyone to consider. With the price of oil at $123/barrel, what effect do you think our pulling out of Iraq would have on that price? I understand that it is possible that the Iraq oil reserves may be more than Saudi Arabia. That being so, instead of the US controlling that supply, how would you like Iran to control that supply?

McCain’s foreign policy advisors are from the Bush team, a lot of the neo-cons which makes me very nervous.
I have to chuckle at some of these right wingers about the Dems taxing. How bout the GOP? Cut your taxes, spend like LBJ and have your children pay for it all. The GOP is bankrupt.

Call it Like it is,
I gather when you say, “Yea, u morons” that you are talking to yourself since you are spouting the same Republican rhetoric with no basis of fact. First of all, your last two Republican presidents have raised the taxes more than the last two Democratic presidents. Also, the first Bush had a Republican lead Congress and Senate for both terms. The second Bush had a Republican lead Congress and Senate during his first term. Remember, the first Bush statement “No more Taxes”, then he turns around and raise taxes.
The military now is at it lowest point. You say that the Democrats are weak on defense. Maybe, it is weak to not to go to war over Oil. Yes, McCain let it slip, that when he is president, his energy policy would be so that the U.S. soldiers would not have to fight over oil again. Please Mr. Tell It Like It Is, McCain is content to have the U.S. military in Iraq for 100 years. Now I ask you, who is going to pay for them being in Iraq? Answer, the U.S. taxpayers. How are they going to pay? Answer, by raising your taxes and not the taxes of the wealthy and corporations. Remember, the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy that McCain wants to continue. I know you do not fall in the catergory of the wealthy, so your taxes will be raised. But, I guess it is okay with you to raise your taxes as long as it is not for social programs.

Hey GaLIberal, News Flash, Nobody wants to continue the war, we just must finish what we started. To pullout now would be a disaster. The tax cuts to the superrich are a married couple making over $96,000. The dollar going in the dumper is due to the idiot democrats that have control of congress that refuse to balance the budget. Gas prices are very high because liberals have moose mating issues and people like Ted Kennedy that want to complain but do nothing, he does not want wind mills to ruin his view. If you balance the budget get rid of earmarks and useless government spending. Or you could take the easy way out, Vote Dumbacrat, they are guaranteed to raise your taxes, they have both told us that. Let’s raise the corporate taxes on the evil corporations, which will just push more jobs over seas.

Both McCain and Obama’s fiscal plan keeps the USA in the hole for a long time. We’re broke. Keep voting Republican - Bush has gone from $5 tillion in debt to $9 trillion. Remember when the GOP stood for fiscal conservatism? How can you people still believe this garbage from this party.

Silly words like facist, dumbacrat, solialist, liberal, rethuglican, etc..are stuipd, pointless and will NOT resolve our issues. It seems like most of you only blog to spout rhetoric and namecall those with different views. How sad and childish. At the end of the day, the same issues are still left on the table, unresolved. Guys, Guys… The real decision for our next election is that we will choose to be a free republic or turn over our government to the socialists. Obama and his entitlement parade will try to evoke any emotional response to the uneducated masses to try and mislead them into believing that they will get something “extra” after he is in office. Mcain is more like a traditional southern democrat than the new socialist party will agree. While he does not expouse a true conservative agenda, he is more of a centrist than Obama will ever be. CopyRight You’re kidding right? If memory serves there was a budget surplus when Shrub took over. With the republicans in control of both houses on Congress from 2000-2006 we spent money like PacMan Jones at a strip club but it’s the democrats fault because the budget is not balanced. Interesting. We borrow money from China to pay for oil from the mid-east and then the prez goes to Saudia Arabia begging them to lower crude prices & boost output. Nice foreign policy. We lie to the world and start an un-necessary war against the wrong enemy and ask for for no shared sacrifice from it’s citizens, stretch our military to the breaking point,(whee!! tax cuts for everyone) but it’s the democrats who are weak on defense. Really?

Hey Yep, I’m afraid me and you are the only one who knows what socialism means, the rest of these kool aid drinkers don’t have a clue. They don’t realize the govt has NO MONEY, that every penny they waste comes out of our pockets, and that the democrats consider anyone who makes over $50,000 rich. I agree that the republicans are wrong when they don’t admit the oil companies are screwing us royally and that now every other industry is taking their lead and jacking up prices just because they can.
But putting democrats in charge will only make things worse.
This country has seen its best days.
One only has to go back to fall of the Roman Empire to see we are in trouble because this country no longer believes in self responsiblity.
Oh I forgot, we don’t teach history anymore.

Hirsutedawg are you really that dumb? What has your democratic congress done for 2 years? Let me remind you, doubled oil prices, now trying to bail out rich white collar criminals in the mortgage industry. Then they want to raise taxes to balance the budget, I have an idea if you can’t balance a budget of 49 billion dollars a day then you should not get a paycheck. And yes our government brings in between 49 and 60 billion a day.

Our government sets rules for private industry, like forced retirement at 65, no hiring of felons. I do believe that they should also follow the same rules. Then we would not have many of the old issues still being a problem. We can fix the congress and senate, everybody that is currently in office we vote out, lets go for true change not a fake Obama/Clinton change.

The South traditionally votes on social issues: god, guns, gays, prayer in school, and my favorite “moral values”. It has been and always will be backward in thinking and intellect.
More people in the South can tell you about SEC football than they can about the state of national affiars. UGA has never produced on Nobel prize winner - ever. It sure has a good football team and party school. This is the South - this is what it produces. Wave a flag, say a prayer, talk Jesus, moral values…

CopyRight No, I’ve never considered myself to be dumb. The seeds of our current state of affairs were sown long before the current congress was voted in to try and fix the mess. Maybe Senator Obama will make a good president, maybe he won’t. The bar has now been set so low I’m betting that he will. Over the last 15 years political discourse has been reduced to blowhards like O’ Reilly, Limbaugh et al questioning my patriotism for not agreeing with the fool(s) who got us to this point. This country our country used to be great. Now, with our warmongering and our torturing we are no better than any other third world p** dictatorship. That’s what this country used to stand for. To the idiots that keep thinking that we are fighting in Iraq to free the opressed or some humanitarian effort, you are seriously diluted. If you were occupied by a foreign land whose government always sought to steal and control your natural resources because they have none of their own, would you like it? Republicans need to wake up and stop trying to sell these lies to the American people about why we are in Iraq or anywhere else in the Middle East. If you (Republicans) feel as though people or countries of the Middle East are so bent on killing Americans, don’t you think it would be wise to get out of their country and trying to dictate their affairs. It seriously bothers me to think that so many people can be brainwashed into thinking that everyone is out to kill Americans. Face it, America has always been a “bully” in the world and now we are about to be beaten up by all of the kids on the playground whose lunch money we have taken all of these years.

If China invaded America to get rid of our WMD’s and then I saw Chinese tanks in Atlanta, you better believe I’d be bombing them.
Have the troops reduced, pull back to their bases and leave a reserve attack force there - make sure the oil is secure. Get out of Iraq - the British learned this the hard way early in the 20th century but nobody seems to remember history.

IS MCCAIN A BUSH CLONE….HELLYEAH!!! He wants the Bush Tax cuts, he has the Bush rhetoric, the war, etc., etc. Doesn’t matter, it’s the old politics. Everyone sees that. To think I was Republican in the Reagan years, and after many Republican goof ups and missteps and blatant disregard to the country overall, I am now a Red Dem. McCain, although I respect his service and sacrifice to this country, will continue the Bush theme for another 4 years. In good conscience I cannot and refuse to accept that as the solution to our nation’s problems. W was a mistake 8 years ago, he was the same mistake 4 years ago, why on earth do we want the Bush mantra going forward under McCain for the next 4 years? Billary has played the race card on herself. (Like daddy said give people enough rope….). Sen Obama offers a path to unity in this country by speaking the truth. Pundits like Rush, Hannity, et’al DO NOT want this because it would be the end for them. Rush has the blind followers who are doing his bidding in the “Operation Chaos” mess. Can’t we be adult here? Hannity, who has never set foot in a black church (and by black I mean the true black church), is offering his Black Theological assessment based on a 30 second snippet loop. That is as ridiculous as it gets and I am further amazed at the simple minded idiots that suck that cup of stupidity right up. I thought we here in America were for the right to free speech, religion, and expression? Instead, the W’s, Wootens, Hannity’s, and Limbaugh’s would have you beleive that they are arguing in your favor while taking all your liberties.

Oh and one more thing, I am a veteran of Desert Shield/Storm and Bosnia (US Army - Colonel, INF), anyone here who thinks that staying in this war is “good for the country,” is out of their frikkin’ mind. This war has had several primary objectives and the proverbial bar continues to get moved at every political whim. Gen. Patreus and his staff are to be commended for their flexibility and efforts given the hand that has been dealt to them. HOWEVER, I am certain that if the order were given to draw down and return to base with extreme caution, that would be accomplished in the finest of military fashion. The region has reduced itself to civil war. Soldiers DO NOT engage in civil matters, that is for the sovereign nation to sort out. Once we’ve left the region, then it is the responsibilty of the Iraq government to address. Diplomacy should be engaged and mediation commenced between the rival factions. If W. had a plan, this entire mess could have been averted. Instead, thousands of our nations best have been sacrificed and scarred for life. And you “Armchair Heroes” thisnk that this war should continue until its won. What exactly is considered the “win” here?

John Q., well said. I served as an officer in the USMC. I agree on your assessment of Iraq. Bush is simply keeping a lid on Iraq in order to hand it off to the next president; then the blame game will take place over who lost Iraq.
I personally get a little anoyed at those who proudly proclaim their military status and use it towards supporting Bush (as if all military supported the GOP). I have found the loudest veterans who support this war never held a front line position and were mostly administrative.
