Where will the Democrat’s nomination race end?

Clinton may have ended the debate about dropping out with a clear victory in Ohio and a slim win in the Texas popular vote.

But with Obama ahead in the second part of the Lone Star State’s caucuses for a chunk of the delegates, the delegate math is still on his side.

So you be the political pundit. Where does the race go from here? Does HIllary end her race sometime in the coming weeks?

Do party “elders” step in and negotiate a ticket? Does the nomination race end at the Democratic convention in turmoil with battles over seating Florida and Michigan and over those “superdelegates?”

This is headed for a “perfect storm” situation at the Dem Convention. The Dems have traditionally been so focused on fractious special interest identities, you’ll end up with a blacks vs. women vs. unionists vs. greens vs. who-knows-who-else kerfuffle. Each fractious “set” will be desperate to come out on top, the good of the overall party be damned, and whoever loses will sit out the general election and pout. Sorry Dems, but you reap what you sow.

Obama now needs to ditch the Democratic Party and run for president as an Independent. Neither of the old political parties want real change, they just want to maintain their hold on power.

Hillary is riding the “clinton” wave. She is here today because of the clinton brand. I don’t think Hillary would have made it this far without the clinton brand name. My point is that she is not self made.

Obama on the other hand is self made by the people and for the people.Obama was the biggest underdog coming into this election. Who would have imagined this scenario. The Clinton’s thought it would be a walk in the park.

People, we made this happen.

We the people will decide the next president. Focus on WY, MS, PA and all other states. The people want Obama. It’s not about big states or small states, it’s about all states. “The UNITED STATES”.

It’s not about “YES SHE CAN”. It’s about YES WE CAN! Individuals don’t decide, we decide. Ohio does not decide, The UNITED STATES decides.

Mark my words. Obama will be the next President.

This is about the JUDGEMENT of the United States and not the experience of the “Big States”.

TOGETHER WE CAN!

They need to make the peace and work out a deal with Hillary as the VP so they can win in November. McCain is weak, but Hussein doesn’t seem capable of winning any big states even in the primaries. Too bad there won’t be caucuses in November!

Why would Obama bail out of the Democratic party when he’s winning the nomination process?

And that’s a guaranteed cakewalk to the White House, since we’ve got about twice as many people voting Democratic as Republican. There’s no way McCain will even be a contender this November, and the GOP knows it. He’s their sacrificial candidate.

I’m an Obama supporter and I would love to see him win, but there is only one option to heal the party and win in November and that is if Barack takes the VP spot on the ticket.

Hillary can’t catch him in delegate math, but she won the biggest blue states and decisively in the biggest swing state.

If this goes to the convention and Hillary is given the nomination by the superdelegates there will be outrage and a huge democratic core will stay home in Nov. The same thing will happen if the superdelegates give the nomination to Obama.

Either way if this thing is decided at the convention the Democratic candidate loses.

Hillary won’t fall on her sword - she’s too old. She won’t wait until she is 64 or 68 to run again. Plus, she has the “experience” that has clearly killed Obama in the polls in TX and OH. Obama will be in his early or mid 50s with much more experience next time.

Rest assured you will see a Clinton/Obama ticket shortly with Clinton on top. They are too smart to go on killing each other for 5 months and waste millions of dollars while McCain sits back growing his warchest and enjoying the carnage.

A “dream ticket” will give them a ton of cash and a formidable ground operation for the general election - it’s the only way.

All of you making dreamy-eyed exhortations for “change” are most amusing. We have yet to hear exactly what is to be “changed,” or how, but that seems to matter not. Basically, you seem to be willing to support a candidate (Obama) who waxes eloquent with non-stop platitudes about “change” and “taking back Washington” and “fresh starts” … meaning what? Please, it’s all just a facade to hide a candidate with great oratory skills, but little in the way of any experience for the job. My Aunt Edna talks about “changing” stuff all the time, too, but she has Alzheimer’s and no idea how exactly she’s going to change anything. I suppose you’d support her for President, too?

The sad thing is, if Obama’s elected, all these moony-eyed supports will gaze towards Washington expectantly, waiting for this big “change” … whatever that might be … and lo and behold, nothing will change. Washington is what it is, Congressmen make the laws, people vote for Congressmen based on their own petty local concerns, and lobbyists buy Congressmen the way you and I buy socks. In this atmosphere, an inexperienced Obama will be utterly lost and, ultimately, inconsequential.

The time is now. Billary has no more experience than Obama. And his time is now!!!!!!! Billary should step down to the VP seat, and ride the wave. If she wins, it will be like voting in Bill all over again (granted he was a good Pres., but his era is over).

Pete, good points!!!

Either way, a Rethuglicon will not win in 08!! And they can thank Dubya for that!!!!

Diogenes is exactly right. When pressed for specifics on his “change” mantra, Obama has flubbed it every time (the hilarious NAFTA flip-flop being just the latest example). These are the same people who get all excited by loud, obnoxious car-sale ads, which promise to “pay off what you owe on your old car!” — not realizing that balance just gets rolled into the new loan.

Adam:

I agree with what you’ve said and I’m a Clinton supporter. The bigger picture must be realized and it’s not another 4 yrs of a repub in office…So they now need to figure out what they’re going to do together and mend the party while they can.

Obama is winning more states, great…But he NEEDS those big states that he hasn’t been able to pull down yet…McCain won, little and big and rest assured that he’ll do it again in Nov. Talk about saving face for the party, it’s time for Obama to do some self-reflection. With them on one ticket it solves all the dems problems!!! THAT would be a cake walk into the white house. So now both people need to figure it out…do they want to continue fighting each other or do they want democratic policies in the White House??? Which is the overall goal b/c aside from their execution, their policies are virtually the same.

Obama needs Clinton and he should be realizing that right about now. Those big states will go to McCain for sure. He’s not pulling down that latino, asian, older, white women votes that he needs to be the true “uniter” over McCain. And many of the little states he won are red. He had a large amt of cross over repubs voting for him. I hope people don’t think that’s b/c all of them truly believe the change hype. They will cross right back over to red and vote McCain in Nov. Having that large amount of cross over repubs is NOT a good thing!!! I hope he figures that out sooner than later.Stepping aside is a bitter pill.

Have mercy on America if Clinton/Obama wins in November. All of their entitlements will make Americans weak by having them rely on the Government for more of their daily existence. I hate people who can’t take care of themselves or their families and want the Government (the American taxpayers) to give them money to do so.

Let the process run. It will choose a winner. That is what it was designed to do. Plus, as the battle continues, it is sucking up all the oxygen in the room. McCain is getting little blurbs and the Democratic Party is getting most of the air time and column inches.

The notion that Obama should accept the VP nod at this point is ludicrous. He is winning and the superdelgates are falling his way.

As far as Clinton winning the big swing states, that strategy has failed the Dems for the last 8 years. You need to be able to win in types of states. You just cannot target the few big wins in the general.

Donna P - you’re exactly right. People get all wrapped up voting for “change” and “hope” (even if they have no idea what those mean, exactly) because they “hope” someone else will “change” things for their benefit. They can’t, or won’t, realize that real change, and therefore success, comes from your own personal, responsible decisions in your own life … not whatever “change” platitudes may be spouted from Washington. Excellent point!

Okay, well have you throught through the strategic implications of doing that? Well … er … uh … no, but it’ll be a change! And, we’re gonna give everybody free healthcare and all inds of other stuff! Okay, well have you thought through how exactly you’re going to pay for and administer these new benefits? Well … er . . uh … no, but it’ll be a change!

Good grief. This truly does represent the American Idol, Entertainment Tonight-obssessed contingent, doesn’t it?

It will for sure be interesting if nothing else. I’m just not on board for this if my person doesn’t win I’m not voting or I’m switching parties…I at one point thought that..I had to correct myself..b/c this isn’t high school student council and I had to decide what’s better for my son and myself?? Voting for whichever Dem gets the nod or McCain or not voting???

I will not be thrilled at all if Obama wins but we need dems in the office so we do what we have to do. Obama fans wanting to switch if he doesn’t win is stupid, plain and simple. They’d rather continue with $4 gas than vote for Hillary. If they have it like that then I’ll be taking names and sending my gas bills to them to pay for the next 4 years. Just b/c I have the finances doesn’t mean I want to waste it on nonsense like insane gas prices.

statistically a 100 pledged delegate lead is not a mandate to be the nominee. They need to have a second primary in FLA and MI and seat all those delegates and just play it out. If the superdelegates pick the winner, the Dems will lose in Nov

My favorite line from Hillary is that “it will take another Clinton to clean up the mess left by another Bush”. How true it is. With her husband Bill we got balanced budgets, job growth, lower crime rates and welfare reform. With the supposedly conservative Bush jr. we got job outsourcing, huge budget deficits, higher crime rates and an open door policy to Mexico.

The Republicans and Obama have a lot in common - they love to talk the talk and that’s it. Clinton’s actually walk the walk and I’ll take a meaningful record of accomplishment over empty promises any day.

Adam, I agree with you. People get real. I had heard that Hillary had gone to Illinois and campaigned and raised money for him to become a US Senator. On 60 Minutes 3 Sunday’s ago, an interview with Katie Curic, Hillary verified that information. I do not know about you but most of us knew that Hillary would run for President. At this point, I had to take markdowns on him because, I was taught “that you never forget who helped you get to where you are today”. He instantly went to the Senate and started campaigning against her. If he has no loyalty to her, what kind of LOYALTY does he have for us? All I hear from him is HOPE and CHANGE. He was only in the Senate 1 year when he started campaigning, what can he do? What kind of change is he talking about? We will get a change in January 2009 regardless to who becomes President. I have been watching the Debates and he has starting coping Hillary’s Healthcare and Ecomomic Plans. He is not ready. Think people, are you sending him that kind of money everyday, monthly, etc.? We as a people do not have that kind of money. He will not be in charged, they will. What has he promised you? Go pass the rhetoric and listen. Hillary should stay in because she is a brilliant person and ready to help all of us. She has not done anything to anyone. What has he done for you other than get all of you riled up to reject Hillary. You are voting RACE. She is promising you Healthcare, better Ecomomy, Education for all who want to go to college, Technical schools, a dental plan with her Healthcare Plan, Jobs with Global Warming, etc. and she is telling you how she is going to do it. What more can she or anyone do?I have not heard him say anything that would touch any of that and people are going crazy over him. How can you hold him accountable for anything, if he has not promised you anything? I do not need a smooth talker, I need problem solver. Go to politifax.com and read about both of their records and please do some real soul searching. I remember the Clinton years in the White House and how my family lives changed for the better. I know she was concerned then and I know because of the results we got and I know she is concerned now. She was not for NAFTA and he knows it. The man who wrote her Autobiography said so and so did Dee Meyers a former Clinton Whitehouse Personnel. It is in therebecause I have her Autobiography. Please do not let anyone fool you. What has happened, he has gotten all of you riled up and you have tuned her out because he is a Motivational Speaker. I personally have NO RESPECT FOR HIM. What kind of ROLE MODEL IS HE? Is this what we want for our children?Do we want them to hurt someone who have helped them. MY CHILDREN KNOW BETTER THAT. My children are grown and they know I would raise _ with them if they turned on someone who helped them. My mother said “NEVER, NEVER FORGET SOMEONE WHO HELPED YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY”. I HAVEN’T how about YOU!!!

Go HILLARY!!!! GO - 2008. I will be calling the next STATES for you TODAY, TOMORROW, AND UNTIL THE ELECTION!!!

At this point the inner office fighting that Obama and Hillary are doing is playing in favor of the Rep party. I hate the fact that for the past 3 elections I have had to choose not the best person for the position but the one least likely to mess it up the worst. When will someone with true ideas for the growth of this nation step up? Hillary will NEVER get my vote no matter who is against her and that is due to the bridges she has burned on her way up. This stinks.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama:

Dear Madam, and Sir,

A Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama ticket is what we want. And that is what we need to take back the Whitehouse. We want a smart, tough, idealistic, seasoned veteran of many battles fighting for the American people (Hillary Clinton). With a young, passionate, smart, open-minded, hard-working idealist fighting for the American people (Barrack Obama). The DREAM TEAM!

You are both fabulous candidates. And we, the American people are very fortunate to have each of you. Taking back the Whitehouse is critical for the American people, and the world at this time. And I think the American people have been saying loudly, and clearly that a Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama ticket is the best way to do this.

I think the American people have made it very clear that they feel Hillary Clinton is the one best able to lead the ticket against John McCain at this critical, and desperate time in America, and around the world. These dramatic comebacks are testament to Hillary Clinton’s skill, and experience as a fighter for the American people. They are also a testament to the strong desire of the American people to have both of you fighting for the American people at this time of midnight in America.

Typical of the Clinton’s is an uncanny ability to see and understand what the American people want. And then to try and get it for them. Even if they have to go through three political near death experiences to try and get it for the American people. This is classic Clinton’s. They are the best I have ever seen.

We are desperate out here. Millions of us are suffering greatly. And tens of thousands of us are dying needlessly every year. Men, women, children, and babies. We need help! As Hillary Clinton said “It’s not a game”. We need the two of you together on our side fighting for us, and for the American dream for all. Not fighting against each other anymore.

It’s time for you Senator Obama to join forces with Hillary Clinton as her running mate so that we can all focus our energies, and resources on taking back America for the American people.

Don’t make me hurt you. :-)

Sincerely

Jacksmith…

I think the only way to unite democrats and republicans,as Obama preaches,is to run as an independent candidate.Such a change is probably likely to occur if Obama does not tie himself any longer to the democratic party.I think his equally going to make history becoming even be the most successful independent candidate America has ever seen.Otherwise,to entirely blow Hilary Clinton out of this race is to call spade a spade, but Obama is too soft on her, probably still trying to maintain a kind of harmony in the party.Hilary Clinton carries alot of odds in her,not to mention Bill Clinton. This a woman who could’nt even manage her own family, maintaining a husband like Bill Clinton just because of her ambitions to run for the president exposes how treacherous the Clintons are,any other woman would have kicked Bill a* longtime.I do want to assume that the relationship betweent Bill and Hillary is merely based on a Matrimonial Certificate,as well as putting up good shows together before Cameras,so Mrs Clinton could pursue her ambitions.Give her 8 years in the white house and the white house is going to be transformed, once again,as a medium for scandals, and may be this time around Hilary messing with his young secretary. This Clinton clan is capable of all evils.Cheating on each other, tax evasion and who knows how much money the Clintons have outside the united states?what do you call that again?money laundry?Bill Clinton has been talking alot about “Big Business” of late, now is’nt it time that one starts asking direct questions to the Clinton Clan.I mean even very private questions.Obama should either blow them out completely from the race even if it calls to being very nasty,or quit the democratic party and run as an independent. His got nothing more to lose,he could become the governor of his state and beyond if he runs, but the Clintons have everything to lose in this nomination, taking into consideration how much Mrs.Clinton wept after loosing Iwoa. This woman had never been a good wife, otherwise Bill would’nt misbehave the way he did. So,either Obama is telling her to go back and manage her household before contesting again.Failing to manage a family of three, grants you no virtues to manage over 300 million americans.A divergance from failed family policies to a socalled succesful career in the senate(full of expirience)just exposes how psychologically sick Hilary Clinton is.

The TV pundits have started looking seriously at how they have been letting Obama off the hook as far as checking him out is concerned. They have been so busy laughing about former president Bill Clinton, that they have lost sight of the fact that this is the highest job in the U.S. and needs a well-qualified person to hold that office. When you ask an Obama supporter to name an accomplishment of his, they can’t. Why? Because there are none.

If you would bother to look at Sen. Clinton’s record, you would be able to see her accomplishments. She’s qualified and any “headhunter” would recommend that she be hired for the job by any employer such as the United States of America!

If he goes to the White House, we are in deep trouble because the man will not have a clue which way to turn. He will have as his aides people of his race because he will want to fill as many positions with black people as possible. There will be more inexperience than ever before.

It is imperative that black people realize they are voting in the wrong person. They need to look at his record rather than his skin color. I can appreciate them all wanting to put a black person in the White House. Women have had to take a back seat for eons and are finally becoming significant people. Step back, look at the whole picture, then vote for Sen. Clinton. She will do more for you than Obama will ever have time to do because he will still be feeling his way around the White House a year later.
