Will you go to the Encore amphitheatre

The new Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park will hold its inaugural concert in May with a performance by the Atlanta Symphony. The Eagles, Steve Miller Band and Stevie Nicks are among the bands scheduled to perform there. (Plus Yes!, which was just announced.)

Here’s a schedule of upcoming events at the amphitheatre from AccessAtlanta.

Do you plan to attend a concert there this year? Which one? Do you think the amphitheatre will be a success?

When do they announce the non AARP concert series?

Yes, I’m going to see the Eagles. Of course it will be a success.
Why wouldn’t it? The Gwinnett Arena packs folks in.

Lets see - an Amphitheater north of town, convenient to where most of the folks with money live….

Hmmm… Nah! You’re right. Its not downtown, so it can’t possibly succeed.

@Way too young:

Concerts at Amphitheaters are way to expensive for a person of your tener years. Just tune your radio to 99X and save the money. Oh, that’s right! (Sorry!) Well you can still listen on line, anyway.

If that’s still too old for you, take MARTA to Inman Park. Walk to Little 5 Points. Then you can see relevent performers.

(If Mom & Dad let you go downtown & stay out that late…)

Not saying the artist’s aren’t relevant, just wondering if they planned on booking some artists or groups that don’t have Metamucil on their concert riders.

No reason for it not to be successful, they clearly understand the demographic of North Fulton, or would you prefer me to go ahead and call it Milton County? But I’m sure you remember who bailed out Milton Co when it went under back in the day.

As I’m sure you do as well.

Call it Milton if you like. Sounds like a great idea to me -and I live in Gwinnett. While we’re at it, lets reconstitute Campbell County too. After all Fulton, County was created out of DeKalb County - which itself was formed from land taken from Fayette, Henry and Gwinnett Counties. Then the real city of Atlanta would be able to show all the suburban geezers and other fools just how vibrant and cosmopolitan it is.

For your benefit, I checked Q.100’s web site. Most of the major acts for their demographic are booked at Lakewood or Phillips - which are both in Legacy Pre-1931 Fulton County’s borders. I thought this would make you happy.

I go to about 3 or 4 concerts a year. It is always a hassle driving all the way down into Atlanta, then finding a place to park without getting gouged is another thing I won’t miss.

I used to like Chastain, but over time I am becoming simply disgusted with what it has become. When you go and see one of your favorite artists, and you pre-order your tickets directly from said artist, and the closest you can get to the stage is half-way back behind all the corporate tools who are clinking their wine glasses and silverware, it kind of makes for a lousy situation.

I cannot believe that some of the artists who play there would tolerate this if they knew what was going on. I just hope Encore Park does not follow this sad pattern.

We’re going to see the Eagles at Encore Park. Curious to see how the whole parking thing works out. Gwinnett Arena is convenient, with plenty of free parking. We do go to Philips for concerts, too. My husband works downtown, so I meet him down there.

Saturday, I drove down and took Marta from North Springs. Have done the commute this way for most concert nights…plenty of fellow concert goers on the train. It is a far more convenient way to get to CNN, especially if there are multiple events taking place downtown, and cheaper than parking. We drove home from Philips and the streets down there were jammed packed…closed b/c of the marathon and for construction.

Encore Park and Gwinnett are good alternatives for concert goers on the northside.

Well Duh! I’ve watched this incredible reality from a seedling to it’s full blossoming next month (10+ years). I am SO proud of everyone who made this happen. I can’t wait to “nest”!

Yes, I already have tickets for two shows, go to concerts about three to four times a year. Going to shows down town is no fun dealing with the traffic and getting ripped off for parking.

Also, I think the person who made the comment about putting an Amphither in Alpharetta where most of the folks withh mony live is jealous because he can’t afford to live their.

Bob, It’s in Alpharetta west of Ga. 400 between Mansell Road and Haynes Bridge Road. Here’s some info and a map from accessAtlanta.

Boy I can’t believe some of the dumb stupid comments people are making on this blog, I argree with David thier are some great acts that I grew up with performing at Encore Park, I already have tickets to see Joe Cocker, and as far as putting a venue in a money area, do you think a corporation will spend millons of dollars putting a venue in a high crime area?

Don’t forget that people live outside of Atlanta and even further north in growing cities like Cumming and Dawsonville who can now easily get to this theatre. I am 24 and very excited about the new venue and its potential. I think it is a great idea because as much ITP people want to snob the burbs- OTP people do not care.Get over it. You could not pay me to live close to HiFi, Chastain, or Phillips. Now Alpharetta just needs some hipper bars and restaurants(which is happening) and we can do away with the redneck-riche stereotype.

Nah, used to see 6-7 concerts a year at Chastain, but they’re too expensive now. Sounds like Encore’s the same.

Hell yes!! I’ve only been to 3 concerts in the last 10 years, and now I have tickets to see 3 at the Encore amphitheater in the next couple of months. Really looking forward to Tom Petty.

I just opened my YES tickets for Monday Aug 4,2008. I’m going to see them in Columbus, Ohio. And, Chicago too! I stumbled upon this link, trying to see where this parking lot “A” is, that they sent with my ticket. (Not the whole lot, just one spot.) Alpharetta will be my 17th time, to see YES. Plus, I saw Steve Howe, with ASIA, Man April 21. And, I caught Howe 3 times on a solo tour, 2 years ago. The SOUND is normally fantastic, at outdoor venues the size of Encore,at Alpharetta, from my experiences. Last summer’s Moody Blues shows were at their best, at this type venue (in Cleveland). And, the Doobie Bros. were really “on”, at Dayton. (the Fraze). I passed up a chance to see Mark Knopfler play his “Gold Top” Les Paul at the Ryman when YES plays Columbus. And, the good Lord willing, nothings going to stop me from seeing one of the two best Prog Rock bands in the world, ever. For the 17th time. Peace!

I am 42 and I am going to see Steve Miller with my 17 year old who grew up with me listening to him. My other 2 sons really wanted to go as well and they are 24 & 25. We used to listen to it on road trips. It is not about your age but knowing good music and these groups were hot in the day and still are, I don’t care how old or young you are! Good music is good music!

Well parking was easy enough and the concert turned out to be excellent! I loved it and they rocked!! I was surprised to see so many young people there (below 35). I am talking young teens and mid twentys. But it was a great mix and I think everyone enjoyed it.

11:30…”Jet Airliner” finishes the main set…and I’m sleepy.

Could someone kindly post what song or songs Steve Miller did for the encore?

Thanks!
