Be thankful if you didn’t go downtown today
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
If you live in Northside and work or have business downtown today, you have our sympathies. For the rest of you, it’s one more thing to be thankful for.
Because of the crush of big events, among other reasons, the main expressways into downtown were jammed today. Even 75 backed up past I-285. (It’s normally the stretch north of I-285 that gets socked in with traffic in the morning.
Once you get off the expressway, surface streets are jammed, and parking is difficult to navigate.
If you were among those stuck in the mess today, you can vent here.
If you were not, smile to yourself and be thankful. It’s Friday AND you’re not stuck in a logjam.
If you want to gloat, take a look at the current traffic conditions

Not to gloat but that’s I why I love living in midtown because of the daily commute nightmares!

I biked from midtown to downtown this morning, as usual, and noticed more cars than I normally see along the Peachtree Center stretch of Peachtree St.
I also noticed more rude drivers from outlying counties than I normally see. I wish they could understand that when they drive on city streets, they’re not driving on the interstate.

The problems created by lack of planning are stupid and totally insane. When will the state and local governments in this burg embrace adequate planning with a vision towards the future for water, transportation and education…in other words competent and coherent governance over incompetence, insanity and an “Every man, woman, child and developer for him or herself” public policy?

Proof positive, yet again, that this city has been run incompetently for the better part of 30 or more years.
Hopefully the new head of the DOT will whip those j******* into shape and actually start making some progress towards decent transportation in Atlanta. Hopefully…
