What do you like best about living in Atlanta?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The AJC is taking the pulse of Atlanta this week for the upcoming AJC Ultimate Guide, and Northsiders have a chance to weigh in.
Some of the questions we’re asking:
—What do you like best about living in Atlanta?
—What is your favorite local sports team?
—Which stretch of interstate has the worst traffic

You can spot the metro Atlanta newcomer when…
He or she tries to pronounce Ponce de Leon Ave…
He or she asks what sports are represented at the Varsity…
He or she proudly boasts that their newly purchased home in Alpharetta is only 25 miles from the office “which is just downtown off of 85, so it’ll only take me about half an hour to get to work in the mornings…”
He or she invites you to a formal dinner party on the night Georgia is playing Florida…

What do I like about living in Atlanta? Not a f**king thing. I hate the traffic, I hate the weather, I hate the racism, I hate the crowds, I hate the constant rushing around, I hate the pretentiousness, I hate the sense of entitlement so many people seem to have. The only good thing I can say about it is the transplants here seem pretty nice, before they get initiated.

The weather here is pretty mild (for a Southern city).

What do I like best about living in Atlanta? Leaving and going somewhere else! Why do I still live here? Good question. And Disgruntled…take it from a person born and living here for 27 years… the transplants, not the natives, are what makes ATL suck. At least the people that were born here respect the land and don’t trash everything. All of the idiots moving here is what is decreasing the quality of life and making more traffic, pollution, gangs, and etc. It wasn’t like this before the Olympics.

What I love about Atlanta is the new young families that are staying in the city, creating a walking community with parks, entertainment and areas of worship all within a few blocks of my home. Good public school options are developing, and it looks as if Atlanta will finally have a living city again.
I do hate the criminal activity that is everywhere in american cities, however I am hopeful that we will eventually “price out” the criminal element in the intown neighborhoods. We are already seeing a shift to the OTP counties (Clayton, Gwinette, Cheerokee, etc.)
The trafic stinks, but those of you with this problem don’t acutally live in Atlanta, but are residents of the Atlanta region (OTP) and you do have many problems that lower your quality of life.
If you don’t mind living in a smaller home (2000 square feet) with a very small yard instead of a giant home with a football field in back, I promise the sacrafice in space will be worth it. I have lived in both areas, and the 2 extra hours that I have for myself and familiy are worth the smaller house.
