Will this intersection ever be fixed?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The road-widening project at the intersection of Dunwoody Place and Roswell Road has haunted both residents and businessowners for about six months.
When it’s done, the project, sponsored by GDOT, will result in a widened Dunwoody Place, improved turn lanes on Roswell Road, dedicated bike lanes, new traffic signals and improved drainage.
But in the meantime, sidewalks have disappeared, paved roads have been replaced with gravel and asphalt hills block neighborhood entrances. On Monday, utility workers caused a gas line rupture that sent fumes throughout the neighborhood and tied up traffic for more than 10 hours.
And it’s all in the name of progress. Or is it?
NorthSide.Talk wants to know if the pain is worth the gain?
UPDATE: Read the full story about the delays.

Citizens are always requestng the roads to be fix. The roads can only be fix through construction. Hence all this contruction is worth it if it means improved roads and streets.
By the by, Monday was terrible. The traffic reached from Northridge to Johnson Ferry Rd. What a mess but thats the price we pay.

The intersection is in need of improvement and the finished project will surely benefit the area. Keep it up GDOT.
Carlos, the word is “fixed” not fix. At least you didn’t “ax” a question.

Thanks, maybe I should write my post in Word and then copy and paste them. That would have helped.

Good idea, that way you won’t come across sounding like you just got smuggled across the border.

Wow, it didn’t take long for an inappropriate comment to be posted.
Say Jeff, what gave it away, my name or my inefficient mastery of the english language?

And people wonder where this negative stereotype of Southern folks comes from.

Construction started in July 2006 — 10 months ago. The GDOT is rarely working on the intersection, though. RARELY. And, the intersection wasn’t a problem in the first place. One day when they did work, they cut a cable line. Why did they start this when they never work on it?

Cynthia, is there an estimate as to when this intersection will be completed? Could the GDOT please let us know? This is frustrating! Plus, they cut a LOT of the beautiful trees that lined Roswell Road.

Dave, as of right now there is no estimated end-date for this project. We have updated this blog to include a story about the delay, which ran in Sunday’s NorthSide section.
In there, you’ll find GDOT saying that until they straighten out the problems with the contractor, they can’t provide an end date. I know that doesn’t help very much but hopefully it answered your question.

Thanks, Cynthia. I didn’t see the article in Sunday’s paper. Thank you so much for reporting on this VERY aggravating situation for those of us who live nearby.

Why is is that EVERY single blog I go to on AJC becomes a race issue? There is always an ignorant redneck who doesn’t have anything intelligent to say and can’t stand someone with a spanish name to have an opinion. Don’t worry Carlos. Any by the way…I live near that intersection and it is a complete mess! Not only is the traffic horrible but it is difficult to make a right turn. I wonder how many accidents have occured at that intersection since the construction started?

Thanks Dani but I think I can defend myself. But-out next time!
