Johns Creek’s Pothole Posse
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The city of Johns Creek doesn’t mind stealing a good idea on occasion even when it comes from Atlanta.
Mayor Mike Bodker said he’s establishing a pothole posse, similar to the one that Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin established.
The city’s contractor, CH2M Hill-OMI, did a comprehensive survey of city streets soon after Johns Creek became a legal entity on Dec. 1, and then did a refresher survey in the past few weeks.
Based on that, city staff and the company plans to develop a priority list and to aggressively address the bone-jarring holes that pock the city’s roadways and byways. There’s about 130 potholes identified citywide, which would cost about $105,000 to fix.
Bodker has said he hopes to have them all repaired within a couple of months, and staff members are rejiggering the budget to find the money.
Stayed tuned…

If any of the problem places near my house are fixed, I will be shocked. I will honestly be shocked if this whole thing turns out any better than being in unincorporated Fulton Co was in the first place — oh, wait! I’m already paying a premium to a city government that seems to stand a 99% chance of not caring about my neighborhood! What a great change. I get to pay more for power and still be ignored because we don’t live in million dollar houses.
I would have rather kept my Alpharetta address.

In addition to lying to us regarding no new taxes in Johns Creek, now Bodker has picked up the well-worn adage politicians use “We need to find the money”. What happened to that extra $3m you picked up via the back door in new taxes, Bodker? And what about the tens of millions we used to ship to south Fulton. Where’d all that go, Bodker?
