Milton backs Fulton schools sales tax renewal
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Milton City Council has endorsed renewing the Fulton County School District’s proposed one-percent sales tax to build and equip schools.
Mayor Joe Lockwood said the sales tax is preferable to property tax.
“I’m supportive of good schools,” he said. “I think that’s what makes where we live attractive, and this is a way to pay for needed schools and additions. Sales tax revenue doesn’t just come from our tax base. Lots of it comes from out of the county.”
Voters go to the polls March 20 to determine if the so-called the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, should be continued for another five years. The tax was first approved by voters in March 1997 and renewed in March 2002. It has raised almost $1 billion in revenue for capital improvements. About 40 percent of the tax is paid by people who live outside of Fulton County.
Sales tax money has paid for 29 new schools including four inside the City of Milton - Cogburn Woods and Summit Hill elementary schools, Hopewell Middle School and Milton High School. It has also financed additions at 18 other schools, including a science addition at Crabapple Middle School.
The new sales tax would pay for 14 new schools and classroom additions at 11 schools, as well as pay for technology updates, equipment and bus purchases, and debt relief.
For more information on the sales tax, visit the Fulton County Schools Web site at www.fultonschools.org.

The arguments FOR becoming Milton County, and getting the H@ll out of F*ed-Up Fulton, seem to be growing by the day.
Is there anyone NORTH of Sandy Springs who is still dumb enough to actually believe Fulton County government would spend this money wisely ( or ethically) ( or legally ) ????
The I-N-S-A-N-E amount of money we already OVERpay this cesspool of a county is supposed to take care of this .
I’m glad my children are now grown.
I used to think Mayor Joe Lockwood was a crook and an idiot. Now, I KNOW.

Don’t even think about letting the same bunch of imbeciles mismanage yet another SPLOST. Where did the bulk of SPLOST I and SPLOST II money go—not for funding north Fulton schools. Now, can we even believe their “promises”? Past performance is the only indicator of what the future holds. North Fulton has been mistreated and shorted on allocation of funds and facilities for decades—now, we are in a mess and the School Board asks us to continue to fork over the cash—no way! Look how much money north Fulton funneled into the schools vs. what we got.

The schools are going to be built and the revenue is going to be raised whether we like it or not. Do you want your property taxes to go up or do you want the sales tax to stay the same as it is already? That’s the only choice you have, so don’t be stupid and vote YES on SPLOST!!

I don’t know who “Tim Enloe” is, assuming that is a real name.
However, I do know that an intelligent person would not:
A. Put his blind faith in a politician unless there was $omething in it for him
B. Write in incomplete sentences and make yourself look uneducated on a blog readable on the worldwide web
C. End a sentence, albeit an incomplete one, with a preposition
Tim, do you use kneepads when you worship at Mayor Lockwood’s “altar” after the late evening meetings?

Good afternoon to you. Yes, you’ve proven that I am indeed a fallible creature. I actually posted that in the very early morn, so I do apologize for the lack of appropriate script. No, to answer you question, there is no money in it for me to support Mayor Joe Lockwood. I suppose I am a believer in those who put action behind words. Joe Lockwood has done that in many ways. In hearing your take on things, one could easily assume that you are not as well versed in his actions as some. Thus, the term “ignorant” could easily apply. Having lived in the Milton area longer than you and the the overwhelming majority of newcomers, I am very hesitant to throw support behind anyone; especially considering all the negative change that my hometown has experienced. That being said,I support Joe Lockwood because I have witnessed first hand what he has done. It is my recommendation to you to get involved in your hometown, become aware of the truths vs fiction, and help your fellow citizens out in making Milton, GA the best place anyone could live.
All the best -

DeKalb County Taxpayer doesn’t understand. Voting YES means we don’t pay any higher taxes on anything than we are already. Voting NO means our property taxes will have to go up to make up the difference, and NO, I have nothing to do with the Fulton County Government! Get informed before you blog!
