Milton City Hall

Milton has a city hall.

The headquarters for the newly incorporated city of 20,000 will be located at the southeastern corner of the city at Webb Road and Deerfield Parkway at 13000 Deerfield Parkway, Building 100 at the Deerfield Professional Center.

“This will be semi-permanent, but there will be something more centrally located later on,” Annie Vermilya, executive assistant to the city manager. “We do want to move into something, but it’s not the No. 1 priority.”

The 23,000-square-foot, single-story office will house the City Council chambers, municipal court, a permit counter, offices for staff, and conference rooms. The lease is for five years at about $300,000 a year.

Construction crews could start as soon as Monday, but the building will require relatively little modification for $400,000. Staff members probably will start moving in the second week in December. In the meantime, the public should come to the city transition office at 115 Perimeter Center Place NE, Suite 785, Atlanta from 8:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Milton has a long and hard road ahead of her. It will take many long hours from the newly elected officials to make it go as smoothly as Sandy Springs did.

I am shocked to read this! Were the residents of Milton notified of this? My questions are the following:

!. Why couldn’t this wait until the elections were over?

  1. Who pays for this?

  2. Who was responsible fot this decision?

  3. Is this representative of sound fiscal management?

It seems to me that things are beginning to move way too fast here and I believe this raises a lot of concerns for the future.

I would appreciate a post here by someone who is familiar with this

Decisions for the new city are already being made. Our elected officials take over in December or Jan 1. Don’t know the exact date. This means that things have to be put in place immediately. I’m not shocked. I’m very glad to hear these things are under way. Sound like the right way to go. Call the new mayor, Joe Lockwood, for details. They say he is very accessible.

I wasn’t looking for an endorsement of Joe Lockwood.

I would like to hear from someone who was actually INVOLVED in making this decision.

Not an endorsement. He was involved. Both he and his opponent were called into meetings regarding this and other issue of the city. So he will know the details you are looking for. Call him if you want some answers.
