Feng Shui in the boudoir
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
It seems you can Feng Shui almost everything lately.
I wrote a story a couple of years ago about a guy who gave Feng Shui haircuts.
But back to homes.
Katie and I recently had a chat about Feng Shui that sent both of us scrambling to remove or reposition the mirrors in our bedrooms.
According to Feng Shui principles, mirrors facing the bed are bad if you can see your face or upper body in the reflection.
Why? Because at night when negative ch’i tries to leave your body, a reflection will bounce it right back. That’s kind of freaky. It made me wonder what other Feng Shui violations are lurking in my home.
Any Feng Shui followers out there?
How have you incorporated the principles of Feng Shui into your space?
Here’s a video with some basic steps for the bedroom:

Feng Shui is as much a psuedo-science as phrenology or alchemy. For instance, each corner of a picture frame is thought to be “a dagger” creating “negative chi.” This also includes the corners of a mat within the frame. Just because this “science” has been around for centuries means little…for thousands of years people also thought that the earth was flat and that it was the center of the universe. Seriously, people, go with home decor that you like, and you’ll be happy. Why would you let some Feng Shui “consultant” tell you what to buy, how to decorate your home, and how to attend to the smallest detail according to their bullsh** “science”? And then PAY them for the privilege?

I don’t know about the validity of things like Feng Shui…..but I do believe that if you create a bedroom (or any living space) that allows your creativity to show through and nourishes it, that allows you to feel comfortable and safe, then you’ve created your own type of “Feng Shui” or whatever you may call it.

Are you kidding me? This has to be the worst blog topic in the history of the AJC.com.
Feng Shui is for idiots who like to follow others and are not creative enough to create their own style.
Next topic please!

Dear Nedra Rone, don’t listen to these rude comments. I like this blog. It’s nice to have a place to pick up great tips for practical use today and also to fantasize about that dream home in years to come. Plus the bloggers here have not yet turned this into a political or racial discussion as is the case with practically EVERY other blog in the WWW universe.
Your doing a great job, keep it up!!!

My girlfriend and I tried it but doing Feng Shui in the back seat of a 93 Buick LaSabre just didn’t work out.
