What does nutrition look like?

The FDA held a two-day meeting this week to find out what consumers, food industry folks, health groups and advocacy organizations think about creating some kind of symbol or labeling program that could be used on ALL food packages to help shoppers quickly identify the best choices for their particular health goals. Right now you’ll find a hodge podge of symbols and seals -everything from the good old Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval to the new Best Life symbol from Oprah’s trainer Bob Green.

What would work for you as a “quick glance” kind of logo or image that you would understand and you would TRUST?

I like this idea using stars from the Hannaford Brothers company in the northeast. Items are marked with one, two, or three stars where three star items are the most healthy options. Very easy to follow.

ANY food product that comes with a list of ingredients and has items on that list that you don’t know what they are exactly, most likely has hidden MSG in it and is inherently unhealthy. Look up www.msgtruth.org
