Are you creative with fast food?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I’m interested to know how many of you are creative when it comes to ordering at fast food places? Do you ask for things to be customized or changed to meet your dietary needs? When I looked at the Chick-Fil-A nutrition information on their website recently I noticed that they give nutrition stats for their original sandwich and then for the original sandwich when customers ask for “no butter” on the toasted roll. When I get a burger or chicken sandwich I always ask for them to “biggie size” the serving of lettuce, tomatoes and pickles to get more veggies into my meal. At Chick-Fil-A I even put some of the side order of coleslaw on my chicken sandwich to add flavor, moisture and fiber from the cabbage…instead of the butter or mayo or other sauces. What special requests or special “recipes” do you create at fast food places?

I don’t do fast food, it’s so unhealthy.
I bring my own lunch to work every day. Normally it’s a salad and some crackers. I grow most of the veggies myself, so I know what I am putting into that bowl.
I’m now experimenting with making my own salad dressing. Not too much luck, other than oil & vinegar…
When I do go out to restaurants, I usually order salads (yes, I’m a salad junkie), I ask for the dressing on the side, so I can use what I need, which is about 1/2 of what they give me.

I ask for them to just add 2 cheeseburgers to my Big Mac and then pour a chocolate shake on top of that.

I always ask for no cheese or whatever mayo based sauce of the day they have dreamed up. and i avoid the fried stuff at all costs unless i just eat a few fries or whatever on the side. usually i get a side salad though. and why does everyone put cheese on salads? kinda defeats the purpose, you know?? it’s not easy to get that cheese off! no cheese! no cheese!

Ordering a salad w/out cheese should be against the law!

Just please don’t be creative when you’re in the drive-through line in front of me. Park it and go inside at the very least. You hold up everyone else as you try to customize food that is designed to be cheap, quick, and mass produced by minimum-wage workers.

Its simple. It’s not about how you order your food — its about proportion control. I just order 1 krystal burger and a diet coke. Okay, sometimes I get 2 krystal burgers.

Mine isn’t very weird it’s just what I love! When I go to subway I get extra mayo, extra banana peppers, and extra black olives. I’m not overweight believe it or not with all that mayo lol. For some reason I just loooooove their mayo. My boyrfriend always gets a pack of italian dressing on the side to add to his sandwich, no matter what he gets! The sandwich I always get from there is a cold cut. Never tried anything else. Just load me up with mayo. Jared the subway man would be very dissappointed in me if he knew this!! Shame on me lol!!

I always get extra honey mustard- especially on a grilled chicken sandwich. On mexican food, I like extra sour cream!

as fast food is intended to be **FAST, i agree that if you try to change the standard fare, you should at least go inside and be prepared to wait while your changes are made. i also try to eat my salads with dressing on the side, but this doesn’t cause any delay in service as they are served this way already. anyone with serious dietary restrictions should try to avoid most fast food regardless as to what they try to do to make it healthier. leave us “JUNK FOOD” junkies alone with our grease and calories!
