Good Mood Foods?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
There may be another reason to call fish “brain food.”
Turns out that having salmon for dinner isn’t just good for your heart, it may also improve your attitude! According to a University of Pittsburgh study omega-3 fatty acids, which are plentiful in fatty fish like salmon, seem to affect areas of the brain associated with emotion.
The team previously found that people with lower blood levels of omega-3 fatty acids were more apt to have a negative outlook and to be more impulsive, while those with higher levels typically were more agreeable and less likely to exhibit a sour mood. Seems it has something to do with the amount of gray matter in the brain which helps regulate our moods. The more omega-3 in the diet, the more gray matter. What do you think of the food-mood connection? And we’re not just talking chocolate!!

What other fish contains omega-3? I don’t eat fish regularly, but I know I need it. I feel depressed. I notice I feel more energy after I eat it.

Oily Fish like wild salmon, herring, mackerel, anchovies and sardines. Also you can go to Whole Foods and get those Flax Bars - they taste pretty good.

Foods have a tremendous impact on your moods and overal physiological well-being. If you questions that, think about the jolt you get from a strong cup of coffee, the quick burst of energy from a candy bar, or even further, the lower incidents of cance and cardiovascular disease inherent in the a mediterranean-style diet. As for me, I’ve recently discovered a drink called Mona Vie, which in less than a week has prety much eradiacted not only aches and pains in my joints and back, but also has allowed me to wake inthe mornings feeling refreshed and, well, for lack of a better word, happy. Not familiar with many of the fruits which make ths stuff up, but it certainly has affected me for the better. makes me wonde what other foods, drinks, etc. are out there that can have such a potent effect.
