Sugar by any other name
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
When you hear the term “sugar” you no doubt think of table sugar but there are many different types of sugars
from honey to molasses to high fructose corn syrup. They are all from different sources but they all contain four
calories per gram. But, since each has a different consistency they contain different calorie levels per teaspoon.
Table sugar has 16 calories per teaspoon. HIgh fructose corn sugar has 18 calories per teaspoon.
Honey contains 21 and molasses 19. Honey and molasses are a bit sweeter so you can use less to sweeten
foods and drinks. What does your sweet tooth prefer?

I’m just trying to get some information; does caffeine stimulate insulin secretion and if so, does that interfere with the break down of body fat?

I use a variety of sweeteners. For coffee out, depending on availability, I use a combo of Splenda (more acceptable healthwise but doesn’t sweeten so well IMHO) and Equal (better taste IMHO but some people have had problems with it tho not me) with a tiny bit of saccharin for intensity. I don’t find honey or natural sugar sweet enough for me. I use Splenda and a pinch of Stevia in my coffee at home. I like yogurt sweetened with Equal or Splenda. I guess it depends and I find everyone has their preferences. There are certain sugar-free chocolates and cookies I need to stay away from. I once ate a whole bag of sugar-free peanut butter cups - they tasted great but I had the worst stomach ache of my life. It’s manitol, or something like that.
