Game 2: Bibby needs to find his shot

Every time Mike Bibby touched the ball in Game 2, the Boston crowd booed. There was a point that he was serenaded to an action associated with vacuum cleaners by the crowd.

He only scored five points in the first game and correctly observed that there are a lot more fans in the stands these days since Boston started winning. So the crowd got on him. He managed 12 points in the second game but was plagued, like the rest of the Hawks, with unable to make free throws.

Yeah, if you look at the stats it says that the Hawks made 31 out of 40 free throws (almost 78%), but it seems that the Celtics were doing a lot of fouling and the Hawks weren’t taking advantage .

So know the Hawks are coming home. During the regular season when the Celtics played at Philips, Sam Cassell was shooting threes like they were going out of style. The Celtics have many weapons to use.

One of the Hawks’ weapons is Bibby. In order for the Hawks to win he has to be on top of his game, just like the rest of the starters.

It’s simple. Can’t win in this league without shooters.

I say it again like before, the Hawks have TWO chances … SLIM & NONE. They will be lucky to win ONE game.

ROGERS HARRISON:

That’s because those foul shots weren’t AND ONE’S. Gotta’ finish at the rim some of the time. Otherwise. you’re just treading water.

Bibby also has to start taking better shots. He can’t forget he is the PG, either. Last night he just started throwing up bricks from anywhere. Most of the shots were contested, too.

This is the first time since he has been here that I am down on him. He did not set anyone else up for scoring chances. Instead, he let himself get so caught up in the crowd BS that it had a negative impact on him and the team. He is supposed to be above this crap.

Rondo is killing him, though. That was the one matchup I thought was totally in favor of the Hawks—Bibby vs Rondo. I was clearly way, way off on that.

DAN:

Good take on Bibby. He got so rattled that Boston just quit guarding him and he blew what-four wide-opens in a row before making one. I heard he was way better than that. I haven’t seen him but three games so far.

I gotta’ believe he makes those in Atlanta which changes the dynamic of the game considerably. If they come out on him and he’s any kind of PG he finds an open three or a penetrator and dishes which ultimately draws out KG from around the basket. This gives AH and the offense a chance to operate inside-No?

Celtics better have their fun while they can because Lebron and the CAVS will destroy them. Ben Wallace/Big Z will shutdown Garnett, and Lebron will demolish Pierce. Celtics are old and washed up with a horrible coach in Doc Rivers. Hawks just stink, otherwise, these Celtics are a mediocre team. You can’t put them in the same category as the Bulls of 90’s or Lakers and Celtics of the 80’s. Lebron is a true superstar who can take over a game single handedly. Celtics will not get passed Lebron, and won’t even make the Eastern Conference Finals, and Mike Bibby is 100% right about the Celtic Fans. They are the biggest bandwagon fans in the NBA history. I remember the fans last year with the brown bags over their heads, so don’t cry over the truth you crybabies.

You know, it’s like I have said…I wish the Hawks would not have made the playoffs. They don’t belong there. They are the worst team to have ever qualified to make the playoffs. I do not feel that anyone wishes to see them in this capacity. From the coaches to the players, they are bad…damn bad. They will not, in my opinion, win one game.

It is obvious they do not have a shooter besides Joe Johnson. They continue to shoot from outside, and Bibby refuses to take it to the hoop.No one besides Joe Johnson should be shooting outside. Everyone else should be going to the hoop, and Gibby should be sitting in favor of Acie Law who will bring it inside, and can shoot outside.

Translation of Ronald:

Was that bit of proper english for my benefit ronald.? Don’t bother. I don’t care for your assessment of the Hawks, accurate or not. It’s what is and isn’t good about the team that counts here. Its about making the entirety of the Hawks better so they WON’T be the worst ever team to make the play-offs. Quit stating the obvious, and have a real take or give it up.

The Hawks are a bunch of thugs. Hofford should have got a T with the trash talk he did to Pierce, not to mention the take down in Boston. No wonder I hate all Atlanta teams

ok LBJ, first of all I live in Boston so you can go back to that decateur hole you came outta of and put a BROWN BAG over your head. I was there at every game last season and evey game was sold out for your information. It was so much fun watch the guys we had. Yes we only won 25 games but the games we lost were only by 5 points or less. they were all close games! The city was excited because this group of rookies were going to be contenders. Then the trade happened and the Celtics got better so much quicker. So NOW BIBBY SUCKS because he does. and the hawks only won because they were fixed games so that your bandwagon hawks fans would acutally be excited for next year., so dont be p** becuase you know its true and the Cavs are ** compared to the Celtics, Lebron’s the only young guy on the team. Ben and Z are just as old and wrinkley if not more than Larry Brown. I think the the Hawks are more competetive than the Cavs though! Cavs will lose. Just watch.
