Game 1: Just like the regular season
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
I’m tired of typing the same thing game after game, Hawk fans. I’m tired of typing that if the NBA only allowed the Hawks to play one half of basketball, they would be world champs. But alas, the NBA doesn’t, so the Hawks aren’t
What happened in the third quarter? The same thing that always happens: The opponent adjusts their game plan, the Hawks never do.
They were within nine at halftime and they lost by 23. Looks like Boston adjusted and the Hawks didn’t.
Kevin Garnett only had 16 points and Paul Pierce had the same number. You can’t blame Boston’s Three Party on this one. This was a total team effort by the Celtics.
I just hope by game 2 the Hawks coach with the .32 winning percentage adjusts. If he doesn’t, this series will be over real quick.

Celtics are the better team. Hawks might get one game at home. You can dream about upsets and the what Golden State did last year to Dallas but, the Celtics posted the 7th greatest winning season in NBA history this year in the regular season. So the Hawks have a tall task ahead of them. One thing you have be positive about is Horford played awesome as a rookie and Mike Bibby can only play better. He needs to inject himself into the offense more. It is only one game though.

if bibby isnt making shots or making plays for others you have to go with acie and you have to use richardson he is a shooter and at least 6’5 & he probably plays more defense than marvin-marvin and j smith played awful Atlanta Spirit Group you have to at least interview rick carlisle for head coach before he ends up in Chicago

ROGERS HARRISON:
JJ took a bad shot with the Hawks down two. I said then they might not get another chance to pull even. Its on yesterday’s Sekou blog which I posted during the game. Also, the Celtics put Pierce on Bibby in the last four minutes of the first half to hold off the Hawks at the end. It worked. Pierce scored twice even though Bibby’s “D” was excellent. I posted then that the Wooden-one would need to make adjustments.
He probably did, but the team came unglued when it became apparant that Boston would continue smothering JJ and Bibby. The pressure of seeing their leaders ineffective caused others to step-up and play outside their game. They’re young and no one could. They lost patience, then they lost the game. Inexperience is all it was. But they’re learning.
Makes no matter who’s here and who’s not next year. Whomever’s left got a taste of playoff basketball and they’ll be back. And with knowledge gained from this year.
Shots will drop at home and I still believe the Hawks win game 4. Out in 5.
Liked the play of Horford. He maintained well into the third quarter. That young man is going to make a lot of money playing round-ball.
Josh Childress was very effective while playing within the overall concepts Woodson set down for the game. Out of control in the second half like the other young players.

There was one bright spot — rookie Al Horford. His 20 points, 10 rebounds as well as his regular season performance prove that he is a money player and a super draft pick. This gives me hope that a couple more right picks packaged with Johnson, Bibby and Josh Smith, could make this a dangerous team — not just a first-round tune-up for the playoffs! The cold reality is, that’s just what the Hawks are.

I’m uncertain which is a sillier name: Hawks’ Hack or Rogers Harrison…..
Steadfastly, and going on years now, I continue to lack a grasp on why the AJC continues to provide you a forum.
Seriously…….
You have been irrelevant since your very first post. And even time, gradually, has failed to improve any sense that you have anything of value to offer. The idea that you represent even a sliver of the “fan’s perspective” is simply outlandish, and an insult to anyone who considers themselves a fan.
Lacking anything but an utter state of absolute denial, a gentleman would acknowledge his lack of relevance, and bow out gracefully.
Is that too much to ask?

Is it too early to discuss that extension?
