hello.
Many thanks for starting this blog and keeping your fellow Georgians up-dated on life on the fringe. I want to tell you your fellow Americans, though split on the advisability of war in Iraq, are 100% behind each and every on of our troops. We mourn each casualty; we pray for peace and your timely return home.
Thank you for what you are doing in Iraq to keep our land free of attack. It is not to be understood in a clear way why all this is necessary, but I believe we (US) is where it needs to be at this time. Let your comrads know we appreciate beyond words your sacrifices and your bravery. God bless you all! Mari Forquer Cumming, GA

Lauren,
It was good to hear that the soldiers at FOB Mike had a little fun even if it was home made.
If you see a 6’5” red haired soldier whose name is Kris Key around, give him a huge hug from his mom and dad.

My name is Sarah Tiana and I was one of the comediennes expected at the Camp Michael show. Because I am from Calhoun, GA I had been looking for the 48th and the 108th everywhere in Iraq. We went to 6 camps before we got to Baghdad and finally in Diwaniyah at Camp Echo, Captain Collins told me they were in Mahmeydiah. I was ecstatic. When we got to Liberty in Baghdad I made sure that we were going to see my guys, and when I found out it was already on the schedule I knew it was destiny. The hour, the minute, the second I found out our flight was cancelled I started to cry. Everyone was going out of their way to find a path for us to get there, but we couldn’t get convoy clearance because of the imminent danger. I was devestated. The next day we did 3 shows at Liberty and during the second show, when I mentioned I was from Calhoun, I heard someone yell from the crowd. After the show, Justin Baumgardner from the 108th introduced himself. He said he was at Liberty picking up supplies and just happened to walk into the dining hall during the show. He told me how devestated the guys were and told me about the barbeque. It still hurt, but I was so happy to see at least one of our guys. I sent word with him back to the others about how sorry I was as well as the other comics. The goal of Comics on Duty is to go to those camps that no one else will go to, to travel great lengths for those little bases that get all the war without the entertainment. I’m back in the states now, but whatever I can do to make it up to the guys, I will. I’m trying to get back out there on another tour this year, and I’ll make sure Mahmeydiah is part of my itinerary. Stay safe guys! We all love you. www.sarahtiana.com

We really appreciate the information on Michael FOB. My son PFC Jason Boutwell is at the “potato factory”. Is anyone there blogging as you do? If you happen to see him please tell him hello and give him a great big hug for me. He occasionally uses the computers at St. Michael when he can get there. Please keep the information about our guys & gals coming!!!
