Scania a quieter station

For troops that served in the violent city of Mahmudiyah, Convoy Support Center Scania is a welcome break. Soldiers from Georgia’s 48th Brigade Combat Team routinely heard machine gun fire and exploding bombs in Mahmudiyah. It’s much quieter at Scania.

Some soldiers here jokingly call it Club Med or the Land of Milk and Honey. The food is better than what they have been used to.

If it’s so “safe” and such a “Club Med” and land of milk and honey, then why is it so difficult for a soldier who has been sceduled for WEEKS to go home on leave, GET OUT OF THE CAMP and go home to his family???

Thank you so much for the pictures of the spur ceremony. That is a very important thing to our soldiers - a matter of great pride and honor - literally earned with blood, sweat and tears. We are so proud of each and every soldier and their commitment to freedom. Thank you for allowing us to share in this moment with them.

I am glad the guys like it over there. It makes me feel better about my husband being over there knowing they are getting better than they had. They definitley deserve it.

Does “Club Med” have a better travel agent?

You know, it just angers me that we can send people into outer space but we obviously can’t make sure that we don’t over-book a flight. A flight that is supposed to bring some of our soldiers home for their scheduled leave. I mean come on…how hard is it to do a job correctly? Hopefully this won’t happen to any other soldier and his family. Those responsible should be ashamed.

Way to go scouts. I have served with some of those guys. Mostly SFC Baker. He is a good soldier, just like the rest of them. I am glad to see those bunch of great guys get their spurs. To a cav scout there is no greater reward. The public is not fully aware of what extreme things these guys do everyday. Understand that these guys are the eyes and ears of the whole 108th Armor. Thanks guys! SGT Doug Farmer
