God help us

Camp Taji, Iraq — Chaplains often say prayers for soldiers going out on white-knuckle convoys through Iraq. But sometimes the chaplains aren’t available.

So the soldiers ask for God’s protection. Spc. Caleb Bennett, 24, of Dallas, Texas, has been saying the same prayer for the past four months. He does it each time before rolling outside the wire.

He sometimes accompanies Georgia National Guard soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 118th Field Artillery Regiment. Listen to the Humvee gunner’s prayer from Thursday morning. His convoy returned safely to base later.

Thank you to Spc. Caleb Bennett for leading the prayer I know each and every soldier is praying in their hearts! It helps just hearing it verbalized, I’m sure. Back here in the wonderful USA, this is our pray for each soldier, also. Think on positive thoughts and stay close to God! Thank you to God and to each of our soldiers!

Jeremy, thank you for sharing this with us. It means a lot to actually hear it.

As the soldier says in his prayer, we ask that the Lord watch over each of our soldiers and keep them safe.

We are appreciating your stories and insights. Stay safe and keep it coming.

Regardless of your rank or position in the civilian world… Jesus uses all of his children. If you are a born again believer(otherwise, if you confessed that you are a sinner and wanted Jesus to come into your life and forgive you of your sins so that you can have eternal life) you can pray. Dont just pray but put on the full armor of God.(Ephesians 6:10-20) Jesus is notorious for using average Joes and Janes like you and me to advance his kingdom. That way he gets all the credit and our pride and arrogance cant get in the way. I realize personally that my husband is over there on a mission and it is a mission the Lord has put him on. We pray back here for all the men and women serving our country as well as the Iraqis salvation. Even our enemies deserve to know Christ. If you are a christian dont lose heart. In your weakest hour many of us nationwide are lifting you up in prayer. For those of you who dont know the Lord personally, let me help you out:Romans 10:9-13 This scripture is not filled with big or churchy words, its very SIMPLE.Just confess with your mouth that you are a no good sinner like myself and that you need jesus in your life to forgive you of all things youve done wrong in your life, and you are saved. It doesnt matter what your religion is its still just religion. What you need is a relationship with a risen Lord who died on the cross for you and me…I pray for all of you that are suffering that you may be experiencing right now is not in vain but will build you up to be the men and women in your family that Christ needs you to be. It could be a better father or mother, a better listener or communicator, a stronger witness for christ, or it could be for YOU to realize that no matter how bad you have messed up JESUS LOVES YOU.(Romans 5:1-5)My prayers are with you and God Bless, Pam Bentley

I would like to say “thank you ” to the reporters that take time out to get behind the big picture of the conflects in Iraq and letting us know what goes on in the daily lives of our soldiers. It is great to here that people support our troops and asking Gods help in order to continue our mission in Iraq. I am glad that our soldiers do not forget their up bringing, most people let their children know that there is a higher being that we can talk to each and every day to help them through whatever the situation may be. I am very thankfull for Caleb to speak up and reconize God in just a simple prayer but meaning so much. Not only does Caleb say a prayer every morning before he goes out, I also say a little Prayer for him and all the other soldiers, because Caleb is my son and I am very proud of him and the cause he fighting for. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS is more than a sticker or banner it is a heart felt prayer eash and everyday. To each and everyone that might read this, take time out and say a little prayer, God does answer. Doug Bennett, father of Spc. Caleb Bennett

Spc. Caleb Bennett, Thank you for reminding us here in the US that the “real” soldier is not as portrayed in the “media.” And thank you Mr. Redmon for your truthful reporting instead of writing what “fits” into the typical journalist ideals of soldiers. I as well as most of the AJC readers of this column are so sick of the AP version of events.

At this moment I have a very big head! To know that someone is giving positive press to my favorite nephew and my hero really means a lot to me!!!! and kudos to the AJC. Caleb has a beautiful wife and a caring family that he left to defend our country. We all miss Caleb so much, but we know his commitment to his country and his family means more than his personal safety. So what else can I say about this brave soldier and my beloved nephew? I love HIM and I respect HIM and I KNOW HE IS SERVING WITH HONOR AND RESPECT. SO LETS GET BEHIND OUR MEN IN UNIFORM AND PRAISE THEM FOR THEIR BRAVE EFFORT TO DETER ANOTHER 9/11 ATTACK ON OUR GREAT COUNTRY.GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!

I guess GWB and Pam Bentley are the ones who decide where all of us of the Jewish faith(and other faiths also)are going to go if we die while serving our country. PLEASE’ don’t decide my fate in the hereafter here on this or any other blog, let the Almighty GOD do that for me! Sgt. Easy
