Ladies, as much as you hate to admit it, it’s really better watching on a bigger TV. I, too, want to keep my living room looking like a living room and not a movie theatre. We agreed upon a 42” Sony with the matching TV stand, and it looks nice in the room without taking up too much space.

Don’t buy a T.V. and spend the quailty time with each other.

Buy either a plasma in a pop-up cabinet, with the remote raising and lowering the tv into the enclosed cabinet, or a plasma that sits behind a painting. The painting slides back with the remote for viewing, and slides back in front of the tv when not in use. In this way, the room remains attractive when the tv is not being used, and allows him to have his monster tv also. It’s a win-win situation.

We solved our Big TV dilemma by converting our open basement into a huge home entertainment/game room. Now everyone is happy. Doing it that way cost more than what I initially expected but now that it’s finished it was well worth it.

Who needs a living room? Get the big TV! If I could afford a big screen TV we would have one!

I am told that a television isn’t furniture. I am convinced that the difference between men and women is that women want a $5000 sofa and a $500 TV. Men want the opposite.

Simple, just buy both. A plasma for her and a 110” projection screen for him. :)

If you have to move your head to see the screen from side to side, it’s too big.

Make a media room or home theater and leave the living room media-free. TV sets in living rooms only encourage people to watch way too much TV.

Try a projector that is the size two laptop computers and can conect to your cable box, etc… and then project on an open wall - when not in use you don’t see it - we have this in our familly room and both of us like it - I get my 4 foot x 8 foot screen and she gets no big box in the front of the room….

We just went through this at my house. We remodeled and the only thing I insisted on was that in this deal I was getting a 52” PLASMA wall mounted flat screen TV, and I did. She got her Kholer bathrooms and her Viking kitchen and I got what a man wants, a big screen TV in time for football season this fall. Life is good…we’re broke, but life is good.

John, the projector is the ideal solution. The only problem with my room is we did this massive built-in for storage purposes (for dvds, cds, video games and all that other mess), so there was no bare wall that would align with the furniture arrangement. But that is still a good idea.

It is a proven fact that the size of a family’s TV is inversely proportional to their children’s IQ. Something to consider before making your purchase.

Luckily, I’m not threatened by size envy and my personal worth and comfort is not defined by the size of my TV.

You know how it goes. Men who insist on having larger, more expensive possessions are simply trying make up for lacking in a particular body part…boys with toys! I don’t particularly care for a huge tv, primarily because my fiance and I don’t spend as much time watching tv as we do spending time together!

She decorates most of the house, can’t the guy get ONE thing that he wants in there! I mean, he is paying at least some of the mortgage!

Brett, you are not married yet. Wait ten years and then come back to this question!

UGOBOI…it doesn’t matter if I’m married or not. The fact is that I just don’t care for a huge tv. I don’t need one. I’m sorry you do. Perhaps some viagra will help offset that need.

My buddy and his GF are moving in together. He is having to down size his t.v. from 52 to 42 inches. I cant believe he is even doing that!Ahh compromise…I guess thats why I am still single.

In my home every room is mine except the basement. That’s my husband’s space. He can do whatever he wants to in that room. He can decorate the way he want, put the furniture that he wants in there, he can even have a fridge if he wants to. So if he want to have a monster of a television, have at it. Let’s face it we ALL need a room to escape no matter how much in love you are. I’ve been married for 16 years and the time alone is soo much of a refresher for myself and my husband.

Simplify - we don’t have television!!! So, my living room looks like a living room and we actually LIVE in it instead of vegging out in front of the idiot box.

Lots of TV envy here. My money would bet on the guys who say they dont want a big TV simply can’t talk their wives into letting them have one, or they can’t afford one. And the others that say they don’t watch TV, I bet you’re online all night, so whats the difference?

I would simply love to have a wall mounted plasma (big) TV but it’s not in the budget now. Bret, you’d get one in a heartbeat if you could, who you trying to fool?

Anybody who says they don’t need a big screen TV obviously does not watch TV.

My TV is about 23 inch and I usually can’t even read the picture captions on the news anymore.

10 years ago I could read the words on this TV screen, but no more.

They are forcing us to buy big TVs by making the onscreen words smaller and smaller and smaller!

I need my 60 inch TV about as much as my wife needs her six burner Wolf range and the double oven.

Actually the TV sees a lot more use than the range or oven.

i bought a 62” big screen dlp, and solved the problem by rebuilding my den with a 14’ widedouble tierd set of built in display shelves and storage cabinets to hide equipment and books;with the dlp sitting in the middle.

while building i added custom crown, and a new fireplace mantel to match the new crown.

good thing i did not have to answer to other half or there would have been a divorce! i only had to put up with 6 months of disruption and dirt. but was worht it in the long run.

oh what we do to accomodate our beloved widescreens!
