Wow! Old Falcons never would have won
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Unbelievable. It should never have been that close, but Elam is awesome! I can’t believe they drove down like that. The kid Matt Ryan kept his composure to pull out the winning drive. What a way to finish! Great catch by Jenkins with 1 second.
I couldn’t believe Elam missed the field goal that would have sealed the win. Even after the Bears drove down to score and go ahead, the Falcons held tough. Ryan just earned a bunch of fans. You gotta like this kid.
The old Falcons would have never won this game.
Ryan and Roddy were great today. Thank goodness Roddy was OK to play.
Ryan had a great game. He didn’t play like a rookie, but he has to get this team into the end zone. Settling for field goals won’t cut it. The Falcons have to get that figured out and soon. They’re lucky it didn’t cost them today.
Go Falcons!

As I told you in a previous post; Tony Dungy told me Ryan had everything you look for in a Pro Quarterback and my other neighbor here in Tampa John Gruden said” I wish we had him right now cause he is going to be an all pro quarterback in short time for a long time.” They both said if you saw his pro, pre draft work out at BC you knew he was the real deal and Gruden was right, he has a stronger arm right now than most pro quarterbacks.
Ryan is a stud and he’ll never embarrass this town, he’ll make us all proud on and off the field.
Ryan was a steal and as Gruden said, Bill Parcells’s and Miami made a major mistake for not taking him number 1.

If Mike Smith’s hair wasn’t white before today, it would’ve been after this win today. NIce job by the Falcons of not letting a couple of critical fourth quarter mistakes (Grimes lining up offisides on third & long, Elam missing the first field goal) not cost them the game. The Falcons beat a good team today. This is HUGE for the psyche of a young team. Love that clutch throw by Matty Ice to put us in the position to win!

Unbelievable. Really, I wish there was no profanity filter here at the AJC because this is a moment that calls for cussing!

john stanton When you actually draft a offensive lineman in the FIRST round as opposed to just other teams waived players, have two backs like Turner and Norwood, and a go to receiver who by his own admission he really put in the work on his game the LAST offseason, and a offensive coordinator who can actually call a game to fit every offensive players skills - yeah…that means the QB carried the team on his back.

I can’t believe the composure that Ryan played with today. It seems like we could never convert on 3rd downs in years past but today it looked automatic. That kid just puts the ball exactly where it’s supposed to be. Our receivers have to be pumped to play with a guy like that.

Surely y’all arent going to get in the habit of saying the QB did everything and nobody else did anything to contribute to the win, are you?? Oh surely you won’t do that now will you? I mean, did he block, run and catch too? Oh, we know how you hated to say one player was carrying the team before (when it was probably accurate to say so) - so we know you won’t make the mistake of saying that now, will you?

What a win! Unlike most of us fans, the Falcons didn’t give up after the Bears went ahead. Yes, it shouldn’t have been that close but good teams find a way to win. Dare we say it, are the playoffs a possibility?

Yea, all Mattie Ice did is manage the game like a pro QB, no 46 yard sacks, no Brian Urlacher swatting the ball out of his hand while he holds it like a loaf of bread.
MV 7 won games by himself, as well as lost them, because he was not a QB, he did not know how to utilize his teammates, or manage a game. Glad he is gone, his best days were behind him.

Nobody said that. That said, he is obviously the real deal, and actually knows the plays and the game unlike the previous quarterback who was more interested in watching and gambling on dogs tearing the flesh from other dogs. The much improved line and Turner are making it possible for Ryan to play the game and it’s beautiful to watch this team gel. It was also great to watch Anderson’s push ups after his first sack, and nice to see him with the two blocked passes and tackles. I’m also pretty impressed with the defensive backfield. It seems that ridding ourselves of the VPT defensive backs and quarterback has been a huge addition by subtraction. For every self styled Vick fan, who has trumpeted the fact that they have deserted the Falcons, well, more addition by subtraction.

TurnerNorwood — What a jerk! No one said anything of the sort. Guess you still want Glenn Dorsey, huh? Norwood had to great returns, no doubt. That second one should have helped the team ice the game but, fates conspired against it. Other than that, neither Turner or Norwodd could do much because of the Chicago run defense. WIth that said, that left the burden on the receivers and the quarterback. White was tremendous, Finn made up with a great catch to make up for the rookie drop earlier, and the catch by Jenkins to set up the winning field goal, was a thing of beauty. Oh yea, the offensive line, especially the play of Sam “short-arms” Baker was outstanding, which contributed greatly to keeping Ryan vertical all day. But, a rookie throwing for 300 yards, no interceptions and clocking in with a 116 QB rating against the Bears defense, c’mon. Give credit where credit is due, dude. The accuracy of those slant passes were key. How many third and longs did the passing game convert? And, the last pass to Jenkins was the only pass that would have worked. Ryan had to be perfect and so did Jenkins.
Grow up, hater.

I hope the negative people stay out and don’t mention the past. This team has exceeded everyone’s ecpectations. The real fans are on cloud nine and the others are just pathetic. This was a team win. Ryan was fantastic but of course the line and receivers did great as well. And kudos to the defense for the goal line stand and sweet redemption for Elam! This is the greatest Falcom win since the NFC championship game against Minn. If they don’t win another game, the season is a success. Mike Smith, you are the man!

What a great game by the Falcons today! Yes Matt Ryan did one helluva a job leading this team to victory! But this was definitely a team effort. Great jobs by Jamal Anderson, White, Davis, Jenkins, Norwood, Turner, Abraham, I could go on and on…. and good job by Elam redeeming himself. Jenkins redeemed his earlier miss TD catch as well with that big-time catch. Good goal line stand by the D too, unfortunately Houston made a mistake and allowed the receiver to get behind him on that late TD by Chicago. All in all, everyone did great! What a huge win for this franchise!

It was nice to see Rowdy Roddy White produce again today. Don’t forget about Harry Douglas, either. The rook had 6 catches for 96 yards. How about Michael “Butterfingers” Jenkins making that big catch on that great pass by Ryan to set up the game-winner?!?!? Matt Ryan, his line, his backs (especially in pass protection), and his receivers all showed up today. The Bears weren’t going to let us beat ‘em on the ground. I didn’t think we’d be able to beat them through the air. We did. I’m shocked. Ryan was great.
This was just a great game today. The best thing is that everyone (including the staff and players) goes into the bye knowing that the team can get better. Winning games when you’re obviously rough around the edges is huge.
Oh, and props to Elam for hitting the game-winner. I hated him (I think many of us did) for a very short amount of time today. Clutch kick, dude.

People we won the game. Can we please stop making these blogs about Vick vs Ryan. Get behind the team and support them. You dont have to bash the previous qb to show praise to the new one and vice versa. I did not like the Ryan pick at first but im behind the guy now. He has shown me that he has all the tools to be a great qb. I liked Vick and still do but its time to get behind Ryan and this team. I hope Vick gets out and turns his life around. Hopefully he gets another shot to play. He made some dumb decisions but he also did some good things for this team .
My only issue with this current team is the secondary. It is time to sit Grimes. He is getting abused out there week in and week out. Houston has to step it up as well. We caught some good breaks today. That dropped td by Jenkins did not come back to haunt us. He did make a clutch grab but the guy is way too inconsistent. He is in his what fourth year now?. The guy has to be able to make the easy catches just as he makes the hard ones. We cant rely on Roddy as being our only consisten wr. The other guys have to to step up and stop dropping passes. I dont think I have ever seen a team that has dropped as many balls as this team the last 3 or 4 years now. Great win. The division is tough but hopefully we can keep this momentum going and get into the playoffs this year.

TurnerNorwood: The entire team pitched in for this win. Not just Ryan. Nobody said Ryan carried the team alone on his back. Nobody here has said it up till you.
If Michael Vick had done the same thing in the same circumstanmce, you and others like you would be trumpeting that he did it all by himself. Fact: Vick isn’t coming back. He hoisted himself on his own petard by committing a crime—dogfighting. You can stop making this a black-vs.-white issue when there isn’t one to start with.

great win for the young birds! Lets not get too carried away. This season will be like next season a work in progress, But the results so far are we are on our way. We have a GM you knows talent and can fill our needs also with free agency. A owner who is commited to winning. A QB who is in his 6th start as a true rookie playing like a 3rd year pro. Roddy White looks like another gifted little Wideout bartkowski loved to connect with Alfred jenkins. It’s a learning process first year, we will also lose some games like we won today, But the foundation has been set and the future looks great! Okay. The team has already exceeded our expectations. This team will go far as long as the TEAM sticks together. Remember that they win and lose as a team. The problem in the past was too much “ME” and not nearly enough “US”. I’m proud of what the TEAM has accomplished so far. The most important thing is that they are starting to believe in themselves. The difference between today and the past 3 years is that when I saw 11 seconds on the clock I thought “They can do this. They can still win.” That kind of thing never crossed my mind before. Then Matty connects on a 26 yard toss and the rest is in the books. I don’t care who you want to root for, things are different now. Better now.

Watched the game in New England. I have been a BC season ticket holder for many years. All of you in Atlanta are in for a real treat with Ryan. If Ryan had played for Georgia or LSU or Florida, he would have thrown for twice as many yards and won more games and probably the Heisman. Unfortunately he played for Tom O’Brien who’s goal was to win bowls and not championships. Ryan is a great young man who will not disappoint you. He could not have landed in a better situation than the Falcons. What you are seeing is a rising star surrounded by a team of rising stars. Enjoy the ride. I like Vick as much as anybody does, but the fact is he messed up and he will never play football here again. The sooner we all move on the better.
And Matt Ryan is making that pretty easy to do, to be honest. He made some gorgeous throws today.
Peep this line - 22/30 301 yds, 1td/0 int against a good bears D with no running game to speak of. Plus Mike Jenkins dropped one of his TDs. If you can’t give some props for that you are just a blind hater.

Great team effort again by the Falcons. I can’t really single out the great play by the offensive line today because they have played outstanding all year. Instead I will single out Matt Ryan and Jamaal Anderson. Both of them rose up to be noticed this afternoon. Great clutch catches by Jenkins and Finneran. Another fine day for our pro bowler White. I felt my heart get ripped from my chest by that TD by the Bears leaving only 11 seconds. I thought it was over but kept watching….hoping. Great Win! Nice start to the second quarter. Couple of things worry me though.
A. Lack of depth at WR. B. Right side of OL. Still a lot of penetration from that side. C. CB in the nickel. Grimes to me is our best corner. Ten times the effort with less talent. Smart kid. That was the reason on the bears last few plays they went after Houston.
Other than that, we look okay to this point. Not great. Great game Jamal. Maybe folks will now learn you are coming into your own. Keep up the good work.

Oh, yeah, that’s right: it’s Sunday, so they must be at the prison, visiting their lord and savior.
But don’t worry, Vick-heads. In a year or two, your lord and savior will be out of prison, and dominating the arena league. Then y’all will REALLY have something to cheer about! I can hear y’all now: “How ‘bout them (dead) dogs!”
In the meantime, my family and I will continue to enjoy the reduced crime rate in and around the Dome.

I’ve come on this blog the past two games apologizing for my comments towards the Falcons when they drafted Matt Ryan over Dorsey. This week I come on shouting…or trying to shout it after being at the dome…I AM SORRY ATLANTA FALCON BRASS!!!!!!!!!!
Overall a well played game. Sucks Elam couldn’t seal the deal earlier but what a way to come back and knock down a kick. A couple of weeks ago people were trying to come on here and down a couple of the wins the Falcons had over the Lions and Chiefs. I said this back then and I will say this now….That is why you play the game.

LOL. No matter what, yall cant help bringing up Vick just to prop up Ryan. Which is proof he still dictates the conversation from a darn prison cell! When he’s playing for the Bears or Ravens, the AJC will probably devote a whole section to THAT team just to keep the interest going!

When you can move the ball, your entire team gets better. Last year we couldn’t move it an inch and we were terrible. The year that Vick was lost with a broken leg, we couldn’t move it at all. The next year, we can move the chains, flip field position and score and we were in the NFC championship game. When you have a decent offense you will at the very least be competitive. Ryan, Turner, White all making plays and the defense is not on the field the entire game and we are 4-2. Great Job.

To all the fans that said they’d never come back unless a black man was under center. To all the fans that called Blank a racist and called in bomb threats to his office. To the NAACP that demanded they meet with him twice before a new coach was hired and after Smith (a white man) was hired, demanded another meeting. To all the jerks that wear Free Mike Vick shirts to the games. To the idiots that call up sports talk radio every day and give credit to everyone else except for Matt Ryan and will not refer to him without a comparison to David Carr. To the members of the New York/New England media who only glanced our way when there was trouble and wrote article after article about Atlanta’s racist past.

WOW! IS RIGHT!! What a game. I live in Chicago and usually pull for the Bears, but I was for my true home team in this one. It doesn’t get much better than this. Let’s hear it for the ACC! Matt Ryan, BC; Keith Brooking, GT, 5 time Pro-Bowler who made a key hit at the goal line; Chauncey Davis, FSU, who played great, etc.

What a great win! The Birds really showed the NFL something today with their unbelievable comeback.
I must say that it should never have come down to this. The Falcons have got to do a much better job of getting into the endzone when they are in the redzone instead of having to settle for fieldgoals 80% of the time.
Even so, it’s a miracle that the Birds have even won a game this year with what has to be, without a doubt, the 2 lousiest starting cornerbacks in the NFL, bar none!

Question, where’s Chicago? I thought for sure that I’d find him/her/it on this blog. It’s funny how people can talk all this tough stuff, but then when it comes time to man up and own up, a lot of folks just can’t do it. As for Ryan, the worst that can probably be said for him right now is that he’s not Mike Vick, and from where I’m sitting, that’s not a bad thing, not a bad thing at all.

I am born and raised Atl through and through, but it pains me to see how much racism is still underlying and running rampant in this city. I guess it’s unreasonable to expect it to be banished, being that the civil rights movement was just a generation ago, but I was hoping we had made more progress.
All the tension still comes out, in the form of sports figures. It comes out on these blogs, where people can hide behind their computer screens and type what they want to type.
To all you ignorant redneck Vick-Haters: You had Vick tried and convicted before he was ever even in trouble with the law. You came on here and made thinly-veiled comments about how he didn’t have the “smarts” to go through his reads and didnt have the “character” to lead a football team. This is before any of the off-the-field stuff. The truth was, he was black and you wanted to see him at receiver or running back because that’s where you think the black players should be. You absolutely reveled in his demise and are tickled pink that you have a white, clean-cut (No Braids!!!) poster-boy back under center.
To all you ignorant-@$s black people: Vick is no longer our QB. He was on his way to superstardom and could have had a great career here, but he self-destructed. It’s not a conspiracy by Blank, the police, or The White Man or anyone else. He broke the law, it’s nobody’s fault but his own, and he has to pay for his crimes. He is gone. Now let him go and get behind the new guy. Arthur didn’t draft him because he’s white, he drafted him because he needed a QB and Ryan was the best available. He is proving more and more every game that he was the right pick so get on the wagon.
Both parties: let’s unite and join the rest of the country in the 21st century. Way to come on here and set the South back 50 years or so. This is why the rest of the nation laughs at us. Black/White does not matter. Let’s please, please move forward.
Go Falcons.

Although it wasn’t very funny at the time - it’s now very funny thinking back on what one of the Fox announcers was saying with 11 seconds left in the game.
Brian Billick was going on about how the Bears were now 4-2 making them one of the elite teams in the NFL. So now 11 seconds later - gamewise, at least - does that make the 4-2 Falcons an elite NFL team, instead of the Bears, who were elite for all of 11 seconds?

As such you should understand that everything in Atlanta revolves around race. If you don’t believe this just watch one Fulton County Commission meeting. You also wrote “tickled pink that you have a white, clean-cut (No Braids!!!) poster-boy back under center.” You are sooooo right about that! P.S. RYAN SUCKS WROTE: HOW MANY TEAMS CAN BLOW A 9-POINT LEAD AT HOME IN THE 4TH QUARTER? If you’re watching the Arizona/Dallas game, obviously Arizona just blew a 10 point lead in the 4th. Give the kid a break. He is a ROOKIE and the team is 4-2 and I think if someone at the beginning of the year said that the Falcons were going to be 4-2, you would have said they’re crazy. Guess what, they’re 4-2 and I can only think they will get better. Give Matt Ryan and the Falcons a chance and stop with your negativity.

@cityofdecatur. Its not Vick’s fault it was a one man team. Why didn’t the Flacons build a “team” when #7 was here. They put it all on his shoulders with little help. It takes a whole organization to win in the NFL I say AGAIN, great game by Ryan.

Ryan proves to be a bust again. 70% completion and PERFECT throws into tiny windows. Plus the unbelievable clutch pass to Jenkins. Clearly Ryan Leaf. He has proven again how bad he sucks. What a bum.
Falcons get beat next week 82-0 and Ryan throws 5 picks without another team on the field. Falcons never win another game until my boyfriend gets back. Then we can cut this bum and eat the 70M in cap liability. Hey this type of advice has worked well for my boy - Check his awesome financial situation. He ain’t gonna have too much of a problem getting bus fare from KS to VA. Every team in the NFL except the ones that beat the Falcons suck. They definitely are not going 14-2 all of you crack smoking trailer park trash.

I played with Vick at Vtech, and let me tell you fans the best thing to happen to the Faclons and the Hokies is when he left. The reasons are simple: Vick’s playbook everyweek in college was limited to two pages. This was done becuase he could not remember the plays. All the QBs behind him had a whole book. This was why Vick was not able to call an audible, in the NFL or college(Hence coach killer). He made up for it with his ahltetic ability. The coaches at Vtech would spend hours with Vick after practice and before games going over the playbook. As soon as other coaches and teams figured him out he was no longer a factor. In college this may work but not in the NFL. This is why Vick will never win a superbowl, he simply doesnt have the mental capacity to lead a team to that level. By saying this, Falcons fans should be proud of thier team and their QB. He has the leadership skills on and off the field.

I was not happy when the falcons choose Matty Ice over Glenn Dorsey, well I was stupid, and the GM Dimitrof is brilliant. This team was only supposed to win once or twice this season. 4-2, and rolling, what an unexpected turn around. Matt Ryan will be superior to Carson Palmer within 24 months, that is my assessment. With all the field goals prior to the first TD, this game had SAME OLE FALCONS written all over it. However after they answered da Bears TD with one of their own, I felt a sense of hope that later came back to haunt me, which is another popular cliche for long suffering Falcon fans….THEY WILL GET YOUR HOPES UP AND LET YOU DOWN….and that’s exactly what happen after the missed field goal, what else would you expect, heck these are the Falcons.
With that said, what else would you expect, the Falcons have always had a flare for the dramatics. Big Ben, Billy Whiteshoes, Micheal Haynes and MC Hammer…2 Ligit to Quit. The ending to this game will rank right up there with the aforementioned. GREAT WIN!!!
It also bothers me that season ticket holders sell off their tickets to the visiting team creating the bi-partisan atmosphere. I attended a game against the Steelers in 06 which also ended in dramatic fashion, half full of terrible towels. I know this is a transient city, but so is Chicago, you would never see this many Falcon fans @ the visitors venue. But then again with gas prices and the economy, I guess I would sell mine too.
Regardless, it was a GREAT WIN and the pure essence of redemption.

That was the most exciting Falcons game I have ever been to! Great team effort, to all the Falcons players. Sure, we had some issues getting the ball in the end zone, but a win is a win is a bad squib kick, we’ll take it however we can get it. Thank you for the points, Mr. Elam.
It’s funny, I heard a bunch of Bears fans behind me in sec. 308 saying how their team plays the entire 60 minutes of a game right after Rashied Davis caught that TD, and they were also saying how stunned all of the Falcons fans looked….needless to say 11 seconds later I turned to bask in their blank expressions. WHAt a great win! THis team looks like they are starting to believe in themselves. Everyone is busting his butt. Maybe it should have never been that close, redzone stuff can be improved, pass defense can still improve. But hey, this is freakin awesome. Would anybody in their right mind want to go back and draft that lineman from LSU over Ryan? Hats off to Dimitroff and Smith. Ryan is as good a young QB as any I have ever seen. I’m 51 and been watching football since I was 10. He is a QB, not just a superb athlete playing QB.
I said receivers had to get better catching the ball in coverage and man did they do that today, knowing they were going to take a lickin’ when they did. Roddy White looks 10 times better than last year. The threat of Turner up the middle keeps defenses preoccupied at the line! My favorite shot of the game was Chauncey Davis flat on his back yelling and clapping his hands after that goal line stand. Awesome!

JB im pretty sure that you are lying. You do realize that Va Tech has not been as good as they were when Vick was there right? You also realize that the reason Vick was never able to call audibles was because of Gregg Knapps offense right? Knapp himself said he does that for all his qbs at the time. So I guess Schaub couldnt read a defense either since he wasnt allowed to audible in the offense. It is kind of funny that the one time Vick went against coaching and called an audible it restuted in a touch down for the Falcons. Va Tech made it to the bowl game with Vick at qb right? How close have they been since? EXACTLY. The guy also was one game away from the Super Bowl. He had the talent to get this team there but his off the field problems and lazy work ethic hurt him. I wonder why all those qbs behind Vick at Va Tech never got that team to a bowl game or made an impact in the NFL. I mean according to you they knew the playbook and could audible ha ha ha. You might not like Vick but dont come on here with blatant lies.

I can’t believe people are on here arguing over color after watching such a spectacular game. Let it go Vick is gone and he’s never coming back. Matt Ryan is your QB of the future……and the future is bright!!!!! I’m not going to go crazy and predict the birds are going to the playoffs. But after seeing the heart and fight this entire team showed today why not. Yeah I know we (they) only scored one TD but a win is a win. And yeah the whole team contributed to this win, but give credit where credit is do. I saw a rookie quaterback playing his 6th game of the season that got behind the center and showed the poise and confidence of a QB that was playing his 60th game. He didn’t put the team on his back but you’d be a fool not to give this kid the credit he deserved. I was a big Vick fan but I never saw anthing remotely like that from him. I remember him going to Chicago playing these same bears with a possible playoff birth on the line and by the 2nd quater he looked like he was ready to pack up and go home. Sad to say but Vick was good for business, not good for the team and the quicker people start realizing that and understanding it isn’t about black & white but about black & red then maybe you can start enjoying your Sundays like the rest of us. Oh and I’m black by the way.

Dear Do You Realize:
Do you realize that VaTech has been to several bowl games since MV7? Like the Peach Bowl against GA two years ago? Or the BCS bowl (Orange) they went to last year for winning the ACC? Va Tech’s success during Vick and post Vick (both of them) has a lot more to do with Beamer than the quarterback — whoever that may be.
Man, get your facts straight.
Seriously, when did Vick ever study a playbook? When did he ever spend any extra time in the film room? A good quarterback will audible, MV7’s inability to do that had nothing to do with his OC. He is (or was) a great athlete and always acted like THAT WAS ENOUGH.

OK guys, as a 100% Michael Vick suppporter, I’ve done everything in my power to hate this Falcons team and to Hate Matt Ryan (nothing against Ryan, I just didn’t like the way most white folk never supported Vick). I say that to say that I’m now a 100% Falcon supporter and 100% Ryan supporter, It’s very very very hard for me to admit it but RYAN is better for the TEAM, than Vick ever was. I had to let alot of hate go to accept the fact that I love this Falcons team and I love Matt Ryan’s play and dedication!
This is my team again and I HATE that I didn’t renew my season tickets, I’ll never miss another Falcons home game, to all my “brothas and sistas” out there, be the bigger person and don’t get boggled down by the way MV was treated by a small minority of rednecks!
Go Falcons, you have made a believer out of me!!!!!!!!

Golly gee whilikers! I was thinking, “How will that ugly Tech win factor into the Falcon game?” I was thinking Chicago would die again on the 1 yard line as time ran out; but when they scored a TD with 11 seconds to play, I thought, “Could it be a miracle comeback?” I started to see Bartkowski to Jenkins against the Saints on Hail Mary I; and dang if Ryan didn’t calmly throw to Jenkins, to set up Elam. It was an ugly win, but just like ugly babies, you love em anyway they come.

We still need a quarterback that re-writes the rules between the 30 yard lines. It’s not about winning, but changing the way the game is played. Throwing the forward pass is just giving up on changing the game. Atlanta will never sell out the dome again, cuz the game will remain the same.

Rogue42 I was clearly talking about the National championship game. Beamer is a great coach but Vick put Va Tech on the map. So I guess if the offensive coordinator himself said that he did not allow the qbs to audible its still Vick’s fault? If thats the case I guess it was Vick’s fault Schaub was not allowed to audible either. The only thing they were allowed to do was change the direction fo the run play or call a timeout. The legendary horrible Knapp himself said it but I guess in your world it had to be all because of Vick. Go back and read some of the old blogs from the guy who used to cover the Falcons. He even asked Knapp about the audible situation because many fans did not understand it and he said he has always done that and did not think it was that big of deal. But I guess ill take your word for it instead of the offensive coordinator himself. lmao

The excited Falcons “fans” were so excited they were gone by 6:15pm. What happened to celebrating? Oh, I guess beating a not so good Bears team (people you can stop pretending like just because its the Bears they’re SuperBowl contenders) wasn’t that exciting after all.
Nope, the Dome will never sell out again. Oh well!

Well, like I’ve been telling y’all (don’t ya love how this Boston lad can talk like you guys) down there in Falcons land….you really have something special going on there and I’m lovin it.
I have to tell you though, since I’ve seen Matt Ryan come back in games so many times during his years at BC I was sitting there watching on my TV up here in Boston (it was great the game was on nationally up here) when the Bears got the lead with 11 seconds left and I said to myself, if he gets time after the kickoff he will get them in field goal position and shock everyone. I could see it on all the faces down there that everyone thought the game was over. But with Matty Ice, it’s never over. In fact, give credit to the entire Falcs team….they never quit.
So, after Harry Douglas got the ball to our own 40 on the kickoff I was just sitting in my chair watching the end and saying “here he goes again.” He is going to get them in position to win this thing with a big pass. Sure enough, as he was falling backwards, with one of the big D-linemen right in his face, Matty threw it right on the money to Jenks. Awesome pass, great catch!!! And you knew after that great pass & catch, that Elam wasn’t going to miss his chance to join in on the fun. I’m happy for Elam, because he must have felt like crap after missing the one before. What an unbelievable win for this franchise.
Well i hope all you folks that were still harping that Matt couldn’t throw deep or couldn’t make all the throws will now get on board. Sounds like most of you are. You others, you know who you are. C’mon and join the pahty ( hey, thats’ boston talk for party ).
Matt only made one mistake today and almost paid for it (when he threw into double coverage near the endzone) but as I’ve said before, he will learn from it. Like coach Smith said after the game………Matt Ryan has “it”.
Since my daughter is in grad school down there right now i’m trying to figure out a way to get tickets and get down there for a game. I’ll bet it’s going to be crazy tryin to get tickets now.

Thank you ME ME ME, we can celebrate the Falcons without tearing down past players…..but too many of the racist haters that clogged up the board cant do that. They hated on Vick so much that they can’t see that it doesn’t build up the team or Matt Ryan to keep tearing him down. If you can’t celebate the win in and of itself then you are really insulting the team and not complimenting it. Good win Falcons now get it done in the division.

@do you realize. I can assure you that Im not lying. Anybody with half of a brain could realize that Vick could not call an adible. This was no secret in college or the NFl. Like I said earlier Vick got by on pure athleticsm, the minute other teams figured him out he was no a factor anymore. Jim Mora senior did not call Vick a coach killer for nothing. The fact is Vick could not remember the plays, therefore everything was kept simple.

First of all I have to tip my hat of to the Falcons (Team and coaching staff). They played a heck of a game and I think I can say that nobody in their right mind thought they would be at this point during the bye week before the season started. Next of all its amazing to me that with all the great things that is going on now with our Falcons team people still find negative things to talk about (i.e. Vick). When Vick was the quarterback I was behind him just as well as Harrington or anyone else the Falcons organization has put behind the center. It stuns me how as a Sergeant First Class (E-7) in the United States Army, African-American, station in Ft Benning, Ga, how people will some how some way always find something racist to talk about even though our Atlanta Falcons are 4-2 and our country is going down hill with the economy and the over use of our military fighting these wars but you know people don’t care about that, they rather fight and talk about their neighbor because he/she is black or white. People we need to stop the racist game and individually go seek help for your internal issues or lack of self esteem. Again great job Falcons and we are on the right road to a successful rebuilding process. I can see a Super Bowl in the making for our team, fans, and city within the next 3 to 4 years or hopefully sooner. Can we all Just get along? Now that is the question and enjoy our team success.

Well, here’s one “redneck” who is a Matt Ryan fan - funny how blacks can call whites anything but heaven forbid a white person call a black anything!
I’m not even going to play the racist game by appealing to the Vick fans’ victimology. I’m just thankful I’m white - therefore my entire life is not taken up with my skin color preying on my own mind. I have other interests in my life beside my skin color and I don’t blame all my faults on someone “hating on” me - LOL!!! WORD!
Vick couldn’t throw a catcheable pass? It’s whitey’s fault! Don’t notice that! Vick kills innocent dogs for fun? Don’t notice that! It’s whitey’s fault! He got caught! It’s whitey’s fault! Vick gets caught with pot at the airport - don’t notice that! It’s whitey’s fault!
Vick flips off the fans? Don’t notice that! It’s whitey’s fault! C’mon, THUGS. Keep wearing your “MV7” shirts and turn him into another one of your saints. It’s whitey’s fault.
You wanna keep YOUR racism flowing by not admitting that MV wasn’t “all that” and that he is a piece of scum - let’s have at it.

Alright JB I see you just wont man up and admit that you are just basing what you’re saying off of the fact that you dont like Vick. Seeing how I told you that the offensive coordinator is the reason we never audibled and you still dont get it says all I need to know about you. I guess Knapp was lying when he said he did not let the qbs call audibles. I told you to look through the old blogs where Knapp himself said it and you still are talking about Vicks athleticism. I told you about the one time he went against coaching and called an audible and we scored a td and you still are talking about something else. Knapp himsef could call you on the phone, explain it to you, tell you it had nothing to do with Vick and you still would act as if you are right. It’s amazing that a guy who did not know the playbook or know how to read defenses got this team to the playoffs twice. Its amazing that in his last year he threw for 20 tds and it was at least 7 that was dropped that year and he did not know how to read a defense or know the playbook. I guess if he did know it he would have thrown 60 his last year. Dude get off it you are clearly wrong and wont admit it.
Yea and because Jim Mora says it then it has to be true. Is that the same guy who threw his team under the bus one week then cried to keep his job the next with the Colts? Vick did not cost his son his job, his son cost himself his job. He should have fired his coordinators and never went on the radio with those remarkks.

Some of you people who still whine about race really need to grow up.
If the only thing you see and obsess over is a persons race, then you are obviously very ignorant and shallow.
This goes for both blacks and whites.
On another note…. The Falcons have exceeded all expectations!! I can wear my jersey with my head held high in Buc land!!!
The only thing left to do is to beat up on some NFC South foes and possibly make a run a the playoffs (I cant believe I can say that and not just be a homer).

Hey Y’all:
“ONE HEARTBEAT,BABY!!!!” “ONE HEARTBEAT!!!” That’s how Falcons been playing since day 1. They have been playing with “ONE HEARTBEAT!!!!”. One game at a time. One game at a time. The Bears did not have a chance yesterday. The score should have been higher, but will take it with “ONE HEARTBEAT!!!”. The coaches, the offense, the defense, the special teams, and the fans played with “ONE HEARTBEAT!!!” THIS IS OUR MOTTO> THIS IS OUR SONG FOR THE ATLANTA FALCONS “ONE HEARTBEAT!!!” We as a football community are part of these Falcons “ONE HEARTBEAT”!!!! They are not in this alone. They however will forever be the catylyst that keep our beat going. The young Falcons are growing up. And when Laurent Robinson gets back on the field he also will provide a fiery element to the Falcons aireal attack. I can not wait until all the injured players get on the field. This is going to be a great and exciting season. The offense, the defense and the special teams all played aggressive with “ONE HEARTBEAT!!” They played together with one objective in mind: winning. Therefore, since Al Davis of the Raiders can not use this term with his team. I will use it for the Falcons: “JUST WIN, BABY!!! But we will do it with “ONE HEARTBEAT!!!!!!!!
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a SECRET from a Falcon Fan. TELL EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a request…and oh by the way, I’m Black…can we just let all the comments about Michael Vick go. These AJC blogs should be about the currently active Atlanta Falcons roster.
There is a great deal that we all can comment on whether its a compliment and/or criticism about the current team roster and coaching staff.
I’ve been a Falcon’s fan and season ticket holder since the Atlanta Fulton County Stadium days and I am glad to say that we have a decent team this year (who’d have believed it at the start of the season), so let’s just support them.

First to Ryan Sucks. The Falcons were picked to only win one or two games. How can all four teams that they’ve beat been teams they were picked to beat? You’re obviously too stupid to even be a good flamer, at least as it pertains to blogging. In real life you’re probably a huge flamer. To Bucs Fan, enjoy while you can. In another year or two your Bucs and the other two NFC South teams will be fighting for second place.
To the Falcons fans, I’m just as thrilled as you are, but the Falcons showed that they still have a lot of room for improvement; red zone offense, two-minute defense. The great news is that this team has a real GM and a real head coach now. They flushed the malcontents out of the organization and are building something good here. Vick’s through his stupidity may have done this organization a big favor. One more year and we Falcon fans may be talking about the Super Bowl.

Hey “the truth”, that is the making your point radio show and that espn piece was a link espn didn’t do it was by an independent radio survey on streaming radio shows, politics, sports, etc…
I’ve been listening to them since the 2nd falcons pre-season when they said they were excited in what they saw in the line and the playcalling and how by game 1 it will be coming together.
They are good, and funny as heck, and they have a sexy sounding chick with them as well.
I heard the T.O. interview they had which i heard a different side of him..
But they did a lot of high school, and semi-pro coverage as well, and they had it fit in that fast 2 hour show.
They were the only optimistic sports radio show that gave the falcons a shot and said they would be 5-1 by the bye week, and said ryan would be rookie of the year because the offensive line would be better.
And Jamaal Anderson still would not be a pass rush threat and would not get his 1st sack till game 7 or 8.
And the offensive co-ordinator will be the MVP more than any player, even Ryan, because of how he will set them up to play at their strengths.
On the down side:
They did say the defense would be top 15-20 by the break and they are 23rd.
They keep saying the hawks will be a 50-55 win team this year because of the 2nd and 3rd teamers.
And the strange thing i heard was the prediction of,once the bye week is over the falcons nor Ryan will be unpredictable and will be 3-7 or 4-6 in the 2nd half of the season.
They had some on point things to say,but they had some wild crap also..

Everyone knows that if Michael Vick was given this same situation that he would have dropped back, hesitated, pump faked(failing to notice Jenkins open) and then scrambled for 10 yards failing to make it out of bounds(clock expires). Tell me that I’m wrong. Then Vick would have walked off the field giving a one finger audible.

I believe B+++++D let him into end zone. Par for this slimeball. Lost any talent he might once have possessed. Cut him loose! Complete liability. Roddy “Another Drop” White up to old tricks. Lets critical catches slip through fingers. Runs incorrect routes. Matt Ryan has choked big time. So much for mental toughness! Hell, everyone watching knew the quarterback draw was coming. Know Brooking was too ignorant to anticipate but throught other Falcon or at least coaches might. Wrong! Gutless quitters.

F+++++S have given up! Par for these prideless losers. Beginning of long losing streak! Keith “No Tackle” Brooking beneath contempt. Guy always arrives late if at all. Touches foe late to get credit for tackle. Now 17-7. THEY CAN ALL GO TO HELL! Management included. F++K ‘EM ALL.
