Ryan deserves it

Naming Matt Ryan the starter is a huge deal for the Falcons. He’s had a good preseason, but it is preseason. None of the other three quarterbacks emerged as the clear starter, so why not give the rookie a chance? It’s too early to know if he can live up to the hype and show that this is a good decision, but why not find out now.
I’m sure the decision was based on many factors, but Ryan seems like a real leader in the huddle. The Falcons are paying him a lot of money to be their franchise player. The future is now, and we’re counting on Ryan to turn around this team. Of course he can’t do it by himself, but if he can score some points, hopefully the defense will be inspired to do its part.
It will be interesting to see who the backup is. I hope Shockley isn’t the odd man out. Not that injuries ever happen at a good time, but his injury was bad timing. Just when he could have made a move up the depth chart.
