A win is a win

Not that this win matters much, but it’s nice to go out on a winning note. Don’t think anyone is going to be happy with a 4-win season, but it’s better than a 3-win season.

It wasn’t an impressive win by any means, but once again, the Falcons didn’t quit.

Redman played great. I think this guy deserves a chance to be a backup somewhere. Awesome to see the Falcons get some quick scores.

I’m looking forward to seeing what Blank does in the offseason. The Falcons need a lot of help, from the top down.

There’s always next season.

Go Falcons!

Almost not good enough

The Falcons played too conservative on their last drive of the fourth quarter. When you’ve won only three games, you have to take chances. They should have stuck with what gave them a chance to win - Redman. He was on fire, hitting a different receiver all over the field. Score a touchdown and make them counter.

Redman looked like a veteran in the second half, spreading the ball around and directing scoring drives. The O-line gave him time to throw and receivers were getting open and making the catches. Robinson and Roddy looked great. Did you see the catch Roddy made? That was awesome.

The Falcons made a great adjustment at half after giving up 24 points in the first half. The defense shut down the Cardinals in the second half except for the last drive of the fourth quarter when they just couldn’t stop Warner. Disappointing to give up three points in the second half and not be able to stop them in overtime.

But, at least they fought back and didn’t give up.

Go Falcons! One more to go before you can reload for next season.

Falcons curse

What was I thinking? Atlanta is landlocked. Why would a Tuna come here anyway?

I wasn’t 100 percent sold on Bill Parcells in any capacity, but he certainly would have been better than what we have now. What does that say about Atlanta that a guy like Parcells would go to the Dolphins, an organization that is rumored to be on the selling block and has won one game, rather than work for an owner who is as dedicated to winning as Arthur Blank. Of course Miami in the fall and winter vs. Atlanta? No-brainer.

Another shot in the heart for the Falcons and us fans. I’m not sure who else makes the most sense now.

Good luck Arthur.

Make it stop

All I want for Christmas is a somewhat respectable NFL team.

I thought the guys would show up this weekend after the crazy week they’ve had. Thought they’d want to show Petrino something, but maybe they don’t have anything to show.

No wonder Cowher doesn’t want to come here. Kind of tough to win a game when you only have the ball for 17 minutes. Guess we should have seen this blowout coming when the Falcons gave up the Bucs’ first kick return TD in the first quarter.

I really wish Blank could just call the league and forfeit the rest of the season. This is really too much to bear.

Bring on Cowher

Forget these college kids, we need a coach who has NFL experience and is a winner. Look no farther than Bill Cowher. He would earn instant respect with folks like D-Hall, Crumpler, etc.

Bobby Petrino never was a Falcon. I’m surprised he even stayed on once he found out Vick was gone. Arkansas?!?!?!?! Are you kidding me??

Of course when he says publicly that everyone on the team is fighting for a job and then they go out and roll over to the Saints, I guess I might consider quitting, too.

No matter. It’s a done deal. The Falcons are a debacle, and Blank is the laughing stock of the league; first pushing Vick around in the wheelchair a few seasons ago and now this, saying before a national audience on Monday Night Football that Petrino is the CEO of the team and how glad he is to have him.

I love the Falcons, but good luck cleaning this one up Arthur!

Falcons embarrassed on MNF

Thought the Falcons could pull this one out at the Dome after being within in reach at halftime. The long scoring drive to start the second half and the turnover killed those hopes. Can’t give up two quick TDs and expect to still have a chance to win. Not this season.

Brees was unbelievable. He picked apart the defense. The long scoring drives just wore them down. The Saints were hurting and the Falcons should have had a chance with Bush on the sideline, then a THIRD-STRINGER racks up 100 yards. How pathetic is that? Couldn’t stop the passing game or the running game. Pretty typical for this season.

Redman threw for almost 300 yards, but couldn’t put up enough points. Another problem this season. Where was the running game? Can’t expect a guy who hasn’t started a game in five years to do it all by himself. Hang onto the ball Alge!

Disappointing day all around.

Go Falcons! Three more games left. Let’s play with some heart and finish strong.

So close to a comeback

The defense gave the Falcons a chance to win in the second half. Redman had plenty of time to drive down the field for the winning score, but inexperience hurt.

Glad Redman came in and played well. He gave the Falcons a spark, something Joey couldn’t do. The offensive line gave Redman time to find receivers and he did a good job until the interception. Joey didn’t have it today. A change was needed. I don’t mind him getting pulled as long as his replacement plays like Redman did today.

Not sure about the running plays being called when Redman was so hot late in the game. I agree with the decision to go for it on fourth down because a field goal doesn’t help. They needed the touchdown.

I liked that the Falcons didn’t give up. They tried to win until the very end.

Go Falcons!
