Falcons embarrassed on MNF

Thought the Falcons could pull this one out at the Dome after being within in reach at halftime. The long scoring drive to start the second half and the turnover killed those hopes. Can’t give up two quick TDs and expect to still have a chance to win. Not this season.

Brees was unbelievable. He picked apart the defense. The long scoring drives just wore them down. The Saints were hurting and the Falcons should have had a chance with Bush on the sideline, then a THIRD-STRINGER racks up 100 yards. How pathetic is that? Couldn’t stop the passing game or the running game. Pretty typical for this season.

Redman threw for almost 300 yards, but couldn’t put up enough points. Another problem this season. Where was the running game? Can’t expect a guy who hasn’t started a game in five years to do it all by himself. Hang onto the ball Alge!

Disappointing day all around.

Go Falcons! Three more games left. Let’s play with some heart and finish strong.

Umm… is it me, or does Fat Alge seem to drop just about every pass that comes his way?

Seems to me that someone who mouths about his coach the way Fat Alge does, worrying about younger players getting a shot over the veterans, should be catching more passes to ensure that he keeps his job next year.

Seems to me that Fat Alge needs to KNOW HIS ROLE AND SHUT HIS MOUTH!!!

For once this season the Bird Babe gets a headline right. The Falcons are within reach of the First Pick of the First Round. I can’t blame her for wanting to get the Blog started early and go to bed. It looks like about 65,000 other people had the same idea at the dome. I’ve got a feeling those empty seats are a sign of things to come. I can’t talk…I’m going to bed too!

It’s going to take a long time for the Falcons to become a winnin g team again. This is the third straight year they’ve not posted more wins than losses and there are more seasons of frustration lying ahead.

The coach should be fired if there is another juvenile MV7 worshipping display by Falcon team members. The big tumor is gone so get rid of all these little lesions too. Suspend all these clowns with their MV7 regalia. Is this part of the team uniform? Until there is some leadership and maturity in place this team will go nowhere.

rlynn, I’m sure the NFL will impose heavy fines for all those that wore MV7 regalia. As you recall, there is no freedom of speech protection or right to political protest for NFL players. Players can’t question the officiating let alone a Federal Judge. As we are constantly reminded, it is a privilege to play for the NFL and Falcons and they are doing so at the will of the Owners. Who knows maybe they will be suspended or thrown out altogether like the runners that gave the Black Power Salute during the Medal Presentations at the Mexico City Olympics. Wouldn’t that be peachy! After all, Michael Vick was only their former teammate and had just received two years for dog fighting and for “telling lies to the man” as being reported by the press. I would hope that if I were a player, I would have had the guts to come down the tunnel wearing No. 7. Who knows, like Arthur Blank said last night on National Television “if Michael doesn’t eat too much FRIED CHICKEN and French fries and get out of shape maybe he can come back and play in the NFL”. I don’t think any of the players are worried about being asked back to play in ATL and for Blank.

Hi Bird Babe. Forgive length of comments but I am totally P++++D! I have grown accustomed to Falcon losses since 1966. It is part of the legacy. I will never condone or forgive total and complete lack of effort. That is what the Falcons foisted on a national audience Monday night. Although, truth to be told, only one guy in Poukeepsie watched the entire game. Other Americans rightfully chose sleep over slop. It is sad that the Falcons would not be able to compete with any of the high school teams which played in the Georgia Dome Friday or Saturday. Solution? Glad you asked! Retain Andersen, Norwood and Redman. Send everyone else packing. EVERYONE! Owner, coach, players, ball boys and cheerleaders. Get rid of the cancer. Start over. Sign free agents who are hungry to play. Players who will at LEAST TRY. These quitters are collecting pay under false pretenses. It was obvious the players quit long ago. It is a shame they make it so obvious. Sideline shots of glassy-eyed Brooking truly sad. Thought he had quit on purpose. Now believe he may be in middle stages of dementia. The once Pro Bowler looked completely and totally lost. Brooking can no longer cover nor can he initiate a solid hit. How sad. Brooking, DeA++hole Hall and (FILL IN BLANK WITH FALCON) could not cover a one-legged woman in a wheelchair. I have my doubts whether they could TACKLE her. Shots of Blankbrain made me want to vomit. What did he say? Honestly, I hold this owner in such low regard that I muted the sound. I do not give a damn what he has to say. S+++W him. Fire Putridwino. Why? For running Dunn up the damn middle all night long. I have seen that before. I did not like it then. I do not like it now. The Saints brought an injury-depleted team to town on crutches. Glad Blankbrain was giving hugs and high-fives to all Falcons after the game. Guess losing by less than four touchdowns to a crippled team is a moral victory. Glad Harrington had so much to smile about after humiliating defeat. So many Falcons had wide smiles. That infuriated me more than any on-field antics. Not steadfast warriors but compliant P+++++S. Only three of these guys possess NFL talent. Rest would not make Arena League cut. Their calling is as ditch diggers or S++T shovelers. The latter is more appropriate. Would say more but what is point. Total non-effort. I love the Falcons but utterly hate all but three of the males (men is not a term which applies here) wearing those beloved uniforms. Oxygen wastes. To Hell with them. Merry Christmas to all fellow TRUE Falcon fans. Yeah, you-know-who got slap on wrist. Nuff said.

You would think the Falcon players would be fighting for a spot on next year’s team. It looked like they they didn’t care about being on the roster in 08. They compared MeAngelo to Deon Sanders last night. What they didn’t say was he tackled like Deon which is not at all. Petrino does not have control or the respect of his team. Not everyone laid down last night but the ones who did should be gone next ABC and ESPN must have been drooling last night from the coverage of MV7. It’s not about the game of football anymore. It’s about guarantees and sensationalism. My wife kept telling me that Wilbon and Kornheiser were no differnt than the Barbara Walters and Woopi Goldberg on the View. Just a bunch of meaningless dribble and a contest to see who can over talk the other. After watching 5 minutes of each you would agree.

Now, what was that about the great Chris Redman? I told you last week that he played against a horrible Rams defense, which is why he was successful. Now you look at what he does against an average defense. About the same stats that Harrington puts up.

It doesn’t matter who the QB of this team is, none of them are the answer so stop looking. Keep on losing Falcons! Go Jets, Rams, and 49ers!

Thank God I was spared the full debacle. After seeing multiple shots of idiots in #7 jerseys, followed by Roddy White’s “free Michael Vick” plug, I turned the TV off. An organization that continues to worship a lying worthless piece of garbage is truly beyond all hope. I wanted to root for Redman, but not while he’s with this steaming pile. It’s one thing to lose. It’s totally another to lose all sense of integrity while losing. They can’t win, can’t look like anything but a bunch of goons, why would anyone support this team?

I will enjoy every embarrassment heaped upon these fools. Looks like I have a lot of happy Sundays in my future.

You’d look good on the sidelines of the coliseum with your shades. you can take the name with you, too. and the stupid uniforms. those of us left behind here will focus on college ball for a few years and then the Jags can move up here and we can start over. watching last night was just plain pitiful. nobody at the game, a team that has packed it in and just wants to clean out their lockers, absolutely nothing of interest going on on the field. the most exciting thing for us now is to see who bobby p decides to offload and if he can get any trade-in value for the damaged goods.

OFFENSE:

Im getting so sick and tired of people blaming MV or blaming the QB’s period! Did ANYONE see what CHRIS REDMAN did last night???! This guy has not play in 5 years and looked twice as good as both LeftFoot and Harrington!

  1. What hurt the team is the offensive play calling(as usual).

  2. Guys scared to catch the ball, or maybe to busy thinking about hitting the club later!

  3. When are they going to spend money on getting bigger guys upfront?

DEFENSE:

Oh, and dont even get me started on that high school defensive unit they run out on the field every week. These guys are TERRIBLE.

  1. The corners cant cover anybody. Every single 3rd and long, they gave away the big play!
  2. The linebacks…DONT BACK THE LINE!
  3. The front four….OH, IM SORRY, WHAT FRONT FOUR?

Shareka isn’t really black. It’s an imposter pretending to be black.

Now, as far as the homage to Mike Vick, those players are friends of Vick. And the fans were just attending the funeral of the “good days” when Vick was the most electrifying presence in the NFL. Now, the Falcons are just exposed to what they were even when Mike Vick was playing: a bad team that relied on one player to carry them.

That being said, there are some positives to this team.

  1. Chris Redman can play QB in this league! I am actually excited about his play last night. He looked good and that interception was the receiver’s fault. The ball hit his hands.

  2. No one can cover Roddy White. Roddy White has almost secretly become a top-rated receiver. He’s a threat!

  3. We were getting pressure on the QB on defense! We looked good on the D-line.

Uh, that’s it. The running game is stuffed at the line due to the Offensive line being pushed into the backfield. There were some plays when the defensive player looked like they were going to recieve the handoff.

Plus, the defense is atrocious. Part of that is fatigue, but most of that was them picking on Chris Houston. Chris Houston is going to be a great D-back one day, because he’s being taken to school by these WRs. He’s a rookie, so it’s more the GM’s fault.

And DeAngelo Hall is having a sub-par year.

By Chris

December 11, 2007 9:39 AM | Link to this

The first priority for the Falcons in the offseason has to be the offensive line. They lived up to their name last night, in that they are truly offensive. Norwood and Dunn are stuffed every single time they try to run and it doesn’t matter who is at QB if a defender is in their face as soon as the ball is snapped.

Redman looked better than Harrington or Leftwich, but he’s not a long-term solution. The Falcons should have the second pick in the draft (think the Dolphins have #1 locked up…), so they’ll be able to pick whoever they want. I think Petrino will go with Brian Brohm, but Matt Ryan and Andre Woodson are also very good QBs.

Another option, and frankly a better option, is to trade away the first pick for a veteran OL, and try to pick up another veteran OL or two on the free agent market. They have to get better on the line so that every pass isn’t a screen and Dunn and Norwood have some running room.

What a National Embarrassment last night! Anyone with the “keep your head up”, or “Free Mike Vick” signage is an idiot! Way to display the city’s stupidity on national TV! Vick ran an underground, interstate gambling ring for 5 years! When repeatedly given an opportunity to come clean with the commissioner, the owner, and the FBI he refused to be honest. “All around the world people love Mike Vick.” Way to rub our nose in it! He flipped off the fans, had the drug smuggling water bottle, gave a woman VD and stole a watch from the airport. Above all, when given the opportunity to accept responsibility of his action for a lighter sentence, he failed a drug test for smoking weed!
Deangelo, go away! Roddy, you too!
Let’s get a team in here that may not be the most talented, but are thankful to play and go hard for all 60 minutes!

I don’t think MV7 would have made any difference in this game, unless we were planning to line him up as a defensive back. It seemed like the Saints had at least one receiver completely uncovered every time they threw the ball. I’m surprised Brees didn’t throw for 500 yeards.

I watched the game last night and found nothing absolutely wrong with the players remembering Mike Vick. Everyone needs a friend and Michael Vick is no exception. His actions were reprehensible but as a player when he played for the Falcons he was amazing. There are fans in Atlanta who miss Michael Vick because they surely remember the good time so why reprimand them for the signs they brought to the game.
God forbid that by some miracle Michael Vick returns to the NFL sooner than later a lot of naysayers would show up to seem him play again for just one night.

Chris…Non of those quarterbacks are worthy of being a top five pick. I’m done with the Falcons if they draft Brohm because he’s nothing more than a product of the Louisville system which we see is not working in the NFL. They should draft McFadden if he’s still on the Board and then focus on the offensive line. Let DJ and Redman compete for the starting job next season and wait for 2009 when there will be a better allotment of quarterbacks coming out for the draft.

Vick was railroaded. Nobody can say that he wasn’t. Although he did commit a crime, he was unfairly treated from day 1. Just because people don’t like him (and didn’t like him even BEFORE this whole incident, and are using the current circumstances as an excuse to show their hate for him) doesn’t meanhe should have been treated any less than Leonard Little, OJ, Dany Heatley, and a host of others that committed crimes and didn’t even get charged. Vick supporters are forgivers. Why would anyone care who’s wearing a #7 jersey? It’s ironic that the team didn’t have his back then, but they show support now, after he’s been sentenced.

The WORST part of last nights game was NOT the score. It was the moronic displays of support for Micheal Vick. It made your team and your city look as if it is run by street thugs. I truly support free speech.. But I take a dim view on public displays of stupidity. Namely from people that the fine folks of Atlanta pay HARD EARNED MONEY to watch play a great game. Micheal Vick is a CRIMINAL and is where he belongs because HE PUT HIMSELF THERE!! He does not need to be freed! This is not a issue of wrongful arrest or imprisonment. He is serving his time because he commited a CRIME!! The players of the Falcons need to be informed of such things and told to keep thier PERSONAL feelings OFF the TV… Its time for these guys to worry MORE about how NOT to get your clocks cleaned on MNF than worry about if the resident jail bird got a fair shake or not…

Things I hope to see for next year’s team (no particular order): - Alge gone (out of shape, no seperation from LBs, too many drops) - Jenkins gone (given up at least 2 TDs on passes bouncing off his hands…enough already) - McKay gone (seems the real brains were his assistants that are GMs on other teams, strikes me as a smooth ‘yes’ man, not a good personnel guy) - D Hall gone (tired of his act off the field and poor performance on it) - Most of the O Line gone - Dunn gone (love the guy, but need the salary cap room and he appears to be done) - Brooking gone (see comments for Dunn) - Coleman? see how he recovers and what he’s got left - R White? is he finally ready to turn it on?

Take our lumps and go young everywhere…can’t afford much else anyways with the Vick cap hit.

I can sure say Michael Vick wasn’t railroaded. He wasn’t. Plain as black and white.

Maybe Jay can tell us why if it’s all about black and white why one black athlete got different treatment than another.

The non-race obsessed people of this world understand why being an complete idiot, combined with running a five-year illegal operation with ample evidence of guilt is why thug # 7 is in jail. Vick supporters aren’t forgivers, they’re dwellers at the low end of the IQ range. That’s why this little mental exercise is too much for them.

Jay, you’re a vick-barnacle. I’ll make this simple.

railroading is 1. To rush or push (something) through quickly in order to prevent careful consideration and possible criticism or obstruction: 2. To convict (an accused person) without a fair trial or on trumped-up charges.

That’s from the American Heritage Dictionary. You apparently got your definition from the ‘tard Vickfan dictionary.

Vick was retained on the team until charges were filed against him. They even traded away their backup quarterback after the drug bust, that sound like railroading to you? It probably does, given that your definition of railroading is reporting facts, like charges filed or confessions.

Anyone who isn’t a moron knows the Feds don’t file charges unless they have very strong evidence. Only dummy jockstrap carriers thought Vick should be allowed to play after that. Oh, that includes you. Whoops! Didn’t mean to railroad you into looking like a moron!

As for the “what about OJ/Heatly/any other sports figure” argument, give it up. It was last effective in third grade, when you whined to your teacher that the other kids were doing worse things, so you shouldn’t be punished.

Grow up, and understand. Not that anyone’s holding their breath for you to do so.

Get some players with heart to play in Petrino’s system next year, without all of the preseason distractions and you will see a different result.

I recognize that we have a weak line and an aging defense, but if we had true leaders instead of ME first Bellyachers (Hall, Fatty Crumpler) the end result woud at least be a team worth watching. You can accuse me of “hatin” or “racist”, but at least I’m not the retard on TV that the whole country is laughing at.

Still doesn’t change the fact that he wasn’t treated fairly, per your definition of railroading. And it doesn’t change the fact that his punishment doesn’t fit the circumstances if you lump him in with Ray Lewis, as Curious George did. Objection overruled counselor. Be so kind as to remove the sheet from upon your head when you talk to me.

League experts agree that suspended QB has too many skills to be ignored. Which ones? Lying, cheating, murdering animals, crippling organization which made him (no longer) triple digit millionaire or quitting (as he admitted) on teammates? All are SUCH admirable qualities! So hard to choose.

What I can’t understand is why people who have never bought a Falcon ticket are worried about who falcons fans are supporting? Why would anyone care. If you don’t like it, then continue to not buy tickets. If you have ever bought tickets, then you would understand why people are wearing #7s all over the place.

“Murdering Animals” LOL. You can kill an animal. Only humans can be murdered.

My final take on this whole Mike Vick thing, since the game last night was inconsequential, is that Michael Vick offends those who didn’t like his style of playing QB. And they didn’t like his style of dress. And they didn’t like his attitude, because he didn’t have that “I’m just happy to be a QB in the NFL” persona- but carried himself like he knew that the Falcons were “His” team.

Personally, I loved it. I’m a Vick fan. My son still have Vick posters on the wall and a lot of memorabilia from Vick because most of the people who watched the Falcons were Mike Vick fans.

I too, think he should have went to jail, for about 6-9 months. 12 months at the most. Even with his 23 months (in which he’ll probably get out even earlier, because Vick may qualify to enter into a drug treatment program because his failed drug test is evidence of drug use. He may be out of prison, as a result of the program, in 9 months. His lawyers were smarter than I thought!)

But let’s be honest: this hatred of Michael Vick has nothing to do with dog fighting. People hated him in this city long before anyone went to that house in Virginia. They hated him before he threw a water bottle in the trash at the airport. They hated him before he missed flights.

Michael Vick was hated in this city when he grew corn rows. He was hated when he started to say “My Team.” He was hated when the Atlanta Falcons became “The Michael Vick Experience.” He was hated when the Falcons started losing and the team went 8-8. Then 7-9.

He was hated when people started saying that it was all Vick’s fault that the team didn’t make the playoffs. Twice. And people called those who hated him “Stupid” because they were saying that Vick was actually masking a lot of holes in the team. They were saying that without Vick, this team would be terrible.

And now people hate him because his absence proved them right.

Oh, here comes the race card— The fallback of dummies losing an argument. I knew you just couldn’t resist, Jay.

Michael Vick was treated more than fairly. In return he lied, lied, lied, and lied some more. Then he denied responsibility. Then lied again. Then smoked some doobie while awaiting sentencing. He’s guilty of everything he was accused of—running and participating in a dogfighting ring. The only one whimpering about his treatment are the teeny brain racists like you.

In the meantime, go play “Working on the Chain Gang” in honor of your poor widdle Mikey. For visual effects, you can find a printout of his courtroom sketch online. That black and white striped outfit looks mighty good. Complain all you want, that’s your hero’s uniform for the next couple of years.

Oh, and be so kind as to remove your jail sweetie’s jock from your mouth before talking to me.

Only white people care more about stupid dogs than human lives. Look at all the school killings and massacres. Those are ALL white kids. It is in your genes, you devils. That is why Blacks, Arabs and every other race hates you. We can see right through your devilish ways. Look at the Holocaust, Racism and Segregation in America!! We call others terrorists, but we are the only country to actually utilize a nuclear weapon on people!!(Hiroshima) You devils are going to HELL with gasoline drawers on! HA,HA,HA!!

Oh, Black Panther. And Nagasaki as well. Also, African-Americans knew of atrocities in Hitler’s Germany but, as it said in Independence Day, “did nothing”. If you are going to slander all others who are not you then at least be historically correct. Thanks.

Mr. Black Pansy, you seem to have an inveterate hatred of white people. I’m not sure about this but I thought I picked up something in your post. Have you been reading the writings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad? It sounds so Malcolm X, before the haj. You hate the white man and some of your complaints may have some merit. However, remember this, if not for the white man you would be trying to light up your crack with two pieces of flint. Power to the pimple foo!

Dogs ARE indeed worth more than the lives of CERTAIN types of subhuman garbage posing as “human beings.”

WHY?

Dogs DON’T steal.

Dogs DON’T talk in the movie theater.

Dogs DON’T betray their friends and companions.

Dogs DON’T blast loud music at 1:39 AM on a Tuesday morning.

Dogs DON’T milk the welfare system.

Dogs DON’T lie to Arthur Blank and Roger Goodell.

Dogs DON’T urinate in the mall parking lot. (Dogs are at least smart and considerate enough to go on the grass.)

Maybe Geez doesn’t like Vick because his fat wife is thinking of Vick while he’s on top. Or his kids idolize Vick more than they do their daddy. Or maybe even his dog howls in delight when Vick scores a touchdown. But the reason darn sure aint for the dogfighting.

Manny hit it on the head.

What’s wrong with supporting MV7. What double standards you guys have. The number one Emmy winning television series is the Sopranos a story about murderous thugs. Desperate Housewives, also about adulterous women…and No. 1, The Godfather, also about murderous thugs…No. 1 Oscar Winner; Richard “I’m not a Crook” Nixon, received a burial fit for a King; Princess Di, if she was home babysitting instead of “whoring around” at 2:00 in the morning she would be alive today; Elvis Presley, drug addict and loved and adored by Millions; Same for Anna Nicole Smith, but you guys adore them, fill the CNN, FOX, and other media shows talking about how fascinating and captivating they are. Each year people dress up in Confederate Uniforms and reenact the preservation of slavery. It’s strange how holier than thou you guys are when you see someone wearing a No. 7 jersey. Give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they are just reenacters celebrating their heritage.

You guys are missing the BIG PICTURE here. Petrino lied to the Owner. Shouldn’t he feel the wrath of the Fans like MV7? Whatabout repaying his bonus money? You guys aren’t very consistent. This is even crazy by Atlanta Falcons standards.

WELL WELL WELL - In reading the articles from ESPN, NFL.COM & even the bias AJC, they now say after Vick serves his time, that there are lots of teams that will want his services. So I guess “you” people on this blog know nothing about talent :) That just shows that the people that actually get “PAID” to give their analysis and opinions disagrees with “YOU” Vick haters….:)

Me, I mention Ray Lewis more than Dany Heatley, mostly because most people outside of the ATL don’t know who Heatly is. Doesn’t change anything. What I want to know is how sympathy for a convicted felon makes me scum. And how you people can tell players, who know Mike Vick personally, that they have no right to feel sympathy for a personal friend. I think you’ve lost sight of the fact that these are all people like anyone else, and you cannot tell people who they should care about in their personal lives. This isn’t like saying what should be illegal, or what is a bad offensive play. We’re talking about supporting a human being we and the players felt a connection to. Not supporting their actions. Yes, I hope Vick puts his life together, gets his priorities straight, and learns that being a decent human being is not just about appearances. and yes, because this used to be America, I hope he gets the opportunity to pick up some of the pieces of his career after he’s paid his debt. So that makes me scum.

I bet most of the people on this board with no room in their heart to forgive MV7, would all say they were good CHRISTIANS! In the heart of the bible belt, they dont want to forgive anyone, but are always asking us for forgiveness.

The main thing Micheal Vick needs now is the support of positive friends/teammates and fans. I am a African/American Man and I realize that MV has to have help changing his ways. People need to show Forgiveness to a man that made a mistake and is paying for it. It appears people show more compassion for a animal that they do a human being.

Fire the players that open their mouths in the locker room and in front of the press. I’ll bet the receivers, crumple, and dumbasselo hall will be 1st n line to go. When any QB - primarily Harrington in this case, throws a perfect pass to a receiver and bounces it “off their hands” he should be allowed to punch them in any part of the body he chooses. Not like he isn’t taking a beating himself by defenses alloowed to pummel him by his offensive offensive line. This season has been a sickening series of trashy events. Petrino was right to leave. Hilarious. If the Falcons had their act together, they would have won this last game. Hopefully, I can move to Miami - the Dolphins would probably provide something - anything - much better than this version of “I Love New York # whatevah!” Plus - there’s more water. LMAO
