Too much Peyton

Peyton Manning was unstoppable tonight. We got to him a few times, but not enough. The run defense played great, but Peyton picked the defense apart.

The offense looked good in the first half. Field goals just aren’t enough. The Falcons still had a chance at halftime, but couldn’t get anything going in the second half. Bad field position, bad play-calling, bad penalties on special teams.

The Dome was full of Colts fans. I wanted so badly to win this game and shut up the group of six Colts sitting a few rows down from us, but Peyton was just too good.

That was not a running-into-the-kicker penalty. The punter did an acting job. Bad call!

Roddy had a good game and so did Boley, but it’s clear we need more talent.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving despite the outcome.

Go Falcons!

No “Sandwich” and whatever else name you people used to describe Byron Leftwich. You even said “at least Joey keeps us close”, 8-22 pass completions and 2 interceptions is not exactly keeping it close. Well I guess it’s Leftwich’s fault again :) Now don’t blame the line, because you didn’t blame the line last week. Bird “B” idiot, I guess in your eyes Joey was outstanding as ever. Makes me wonder who you had to sleep with to get your own blog :) So anyone want to praise Joey?

This team sucks! This team sucks! This team sucks! This team sucks! This team sucks! This team sucks! This team sucks! This team sucks! This team sucks! This team sucks! It will be a long, long time before I give this organization ANY of my money, be it Season Tickets, Single Game tickets, Falcon clothing, $8.00 beers,,,,,, nothing,, zilch… what a pitiful collection of “professional” athletes, coaches and management. If Home Depot had been built, managed and run like this team, it would have gone the way of Zayre’s,,,, out of business and nothing but a memory. How do these people accept their paychecks without feeling like criminals ? It is a shame that this is the product that represents the city of Atlanta as a professional sports team. I say lets put the Bulldogs in Falcon jerseys, and put them out them. Would be way more competitive, and would at least give a full out effort during the entire game. Falcons,, you stink, and I don’t see anything changing for years to come……

Crumbler - Release zero effort blocking, 2 early drops… Crocker - Release tourched early, saved by penalty. Missed easy pick, next play touchdown. Brooking - Release. Can’t tackle, can’t pass defend, gets blown off the ball every play…ever wonder why the middle of the falcons D keeps get killed?

Joey didn’t have a great game, but he played better than Leftwich has, especially considering that first interception should have been a catch (and also a fumble, in my opinion).

This game was lost in last minute of the second quarter when Petrino refused to take a timeout to give his offense a chance get some momentum going into the locker room.

Talk about throwing in the towel early.

Joey engineered the scoring of 13 points. How many did ham sammich put up last week? The correct answer is 0. Joey didn’t play particularly well but he played much better than Buffalo Butt is capable of playing.

SUZAN & D-TOWN - Who won the game? I don’t care if Leftwich played better than Harrington - they both are bums. Suzan you are a piece of work and not in a good way - take down that rebel flag flag and come all the way out of the closet :) A loss is a loss, no matter how worst you looked than the previous loser. Anybody care to take a bet on how many touch downs Harrington will get this year? Anybody care to bet me that he will not even get half the total of last year’s quarterback? Now that is pathetic, but then again anybody is better than last year’s quarterback….ha ha ha

Well, I think the Bird Babe is improving. While she still hasn’t admitted that Joey Harrington “has room for improvement”, she did not start off with the blind praise that she usually spews out. For all of you losers that are blaming Leftwich when Harrington just finished playing like the “Replacement Player” that he is, you really need to wake up? Remember the old Joan Collins song….”Send In the Clowns”? Don’t bother they’re here…The Atlanta Falcons

The Colts simply have a better Offense than the Falcons. Not just one player, top to bottom. Colts WR’s are making catches, not dropping them. And like John Madden says it all starts in the trenches - Harrington did his best to move outside the pocket. O-Line broke down almost every play. Did anyone see Peyton Manning forced to run around outside the pocket? NO.

Falcons Defense is good but nobody is stopping Tony Dungy and his Colts. This team needs to go after O-Line in the Draft if Petrino wants a power blocking scheme. Joey Harrington is a keeper, and look to pickup a rookie QB next year. Fat Albert, err, Leftwich, was good at JAX 3 years ago but won’t be a Falcon in 2008.

FALCON FREDDIE - Finally somebody that is not blind and stupid. Harrington is a joke and those making excuses for him are even more idiotic or just plain bias for obvious and sinful reasons. How in the world was this guy a number 3 pick. Goes to show that scouts are not the brightest people.

The guy who quarterbacked the team last year is in prison and harrington had nothing to do with it. in your first, silly post, you defend ham Sammich and denigrate harrington and now you say it doesn’t matter because a loss is a loss. So, does it matter or doesn’t it? Try to be a bit more rational. By the way, what is the source of your mirth? I doubt you have much to laugh about.

JOEY TIME - I guess Harrington was a keeper in Detroit, coincidentally Detroit is now a playoff caliber team. I’m sure it was not his fault though, just like here in Atlanta and Miami :) Vick used to run around the pocket all the time, but nobody made excuses about the line then. You people defending these loser drop back passers that don’t produce is rediculous just like their supporters.

Unbiased:

The Lions are a playoff caliber team now? Not quite, granted their better; but that has nothing to do with getting rid of Joey…in fact the Lions had pretty much no improvement after getting rid of him.

The point is, Joey gives the Falcons a better chance to win than Byron right now. That’s not really saying as much about Joey as it does about Byron.

Joey Harrington has started 9 and has played in all 11 falcons games this yr….HE IS EVERYTHING THAT WE THOUGHT HE WAS, and we are not going anywhere with him…….Leftwich has not even played a whole game with the falcons this yr, and unless he gets a bona fide chance to play at least a full game, we can’t base what we think we know of him solely on the Tampa bay game. Joey has been playing all year and he still overthrew two TD passes tonight….Harrington did throw a nice pass to White, but other than that, he did not look any better than Leftwich did last week……..just like with what is going on in at Notre Dame with Coach Weis, I am reading comments from bloggers, including Bird Babe, that are giving every benefit of a doubt to Harrington, while holding Leftwich accountable for every missed, tipped, and dropped pass imaginable.

seriously though, quarterback discussion aside, was the decision to not take a timeout with a minute left in the second quarter (with the Colts facing a 3rd and 21) about the dumbest coaching decision you’ve seen.

Harrington has STUNK 7 out of the 9 games he has played (emphasis on the word stunk, including having beemn cut TWICE from two other teams and ONE bad start from Leftwich and the local sports talk knuckleheads, these hypocritical bloggers (especially the middle school girl who keeps stalking me), and the Bird Pigeon go nuts. Now that Joey Blowey has STUNK again, where is his criticism? Where’s the throw under the bus now? Did he earn the next start now since you can’t say he WON this game? Or does it take more than one loss for him to lose his job? You all can’t even see your own hypocrisy you’re so full of it.

ATTENTION ATLANTA - Whether you like it or not, by Vick turning himself in early, and what I have been reading on ESPN he obviously has been told to check-in early so that he can satisfy the judge and “go through the motions” in satisfying the public and, he will be in uniform by next season. So you people might as well get prepared to see MV7 back in uniform and as bad as this team is, get ready for another playoff trip in 2008 and you people can’t make anymore excuses for the need of a drop back passer - he had 2 this season, and we see the results.

UB, I don’t know. It couldn’t be from Joey’s performance this year. It couldn’t be the fact that he has NEVER even played in a playoff game. Maybe it was getting cut TWICe by two other teams, one of which is doing better without him with the SAME players. Maybe its all the sacks that mostly come from him holding the ball like its super-glued to his freaking hand. Maybe its when he goes public first with his complaint of not be told he was not starting first before going public by the coach. His leadership? Naw. His strong arm? Naw. His stellar QB rating? Accuracy? Couldn’t be. Oh, I know its how well he handles the blitz? Un-unnh. Maybe if he just ONE bad game, they would cheer for Redman to come in next, but wait…he’s had seven so that couldn’t be it either. Sorry dude I just can’t figure out why they would possibly think “Slowey Joey” was a quarterback. You got me.

I also think that Bird Babe is showing her true colors here……she starts this blog off by stating how good Peyton Manning was, without saying anything about Harrington, as opposed to her sarcastic comments last sunday about Leftwich. Tonight, she even talks about the bad field position and play calling, which is another veiled attempt to excuse Harrington’s overall performance tonight……..funny thing is, those are some of the same things that plagued Leftwich last weekend…….HEY Bird Babe…are you a dove, or a crow???? Detroit has changed there team a lot since Joey left: new receivers, young players gaining experience, a new head coach and offensive coordinator. It hardly can be called the same team.

Just look at Jeff Garcia, did no better than Joey in Detroit, and now he’s leading the Bucs into the playoffs. This is not to defend Joey’s play, but if your gonna attack him, use a sound argument

D-Town- of course detroit has changed sinced Harrington left…….and besides that, our receivers are better and deeper since last yr…..we also got rid of a horrible Offensive Cordinator…..anybody is better than him…we have a new coach, whom I think has a better upside than Mora…and we do have some good defensive players…..as I stated before, HARRINGTON IS EVERY THAT WE KNEW HE WAS……THIS IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS WITH HIM.

By Falcon One

If you think Joey was the reason we lost tonight, you just don’t understand football. Harrington was not remotely the reason we lost this game. He played well enough to keep us in the game, but the Colts showed why they are better than us in all phases. There were at least 5 dropped passes, receivers not running routes (Joey’s 2 picks were due to receiver errors), numerous penalties that killed drives for us or sustained drives for them, horrible coaching (unbelievable how we failed to call a timeout until there were just seconds left in the half), poor play calling, an overwhelmed o-line that failed to open holes for Dunn or protect Joey, and our defense just didn’t get it done when it mattered the most. Not suggesting that Joey had a great game, but he played well enough to give us a chance and we just could not put it together. This team needs so much help in so many areas that it’s hard to know exactly where to start. I think it would be a mistake to let Harrington go and start all over again. Imagine Joey playing QB with New England or Indy or Pittsburgh….do you think he would suck? Not saying he is as good as Brady or Manning or Rothlesberger, but he’s not terrible, either. It’s obvious why Redman hasn’t played in over 3 years. He just isn’t very good and they can see it in practice. Wake up, people.

FALCON ONE - Who on the field is ultimately responsible for a loss? Who gets credit for the win? No excuses!

By Falcon One

November 23, 2007 1:38 AM | Link to this

A few facts: Harrington was not cut by Detroit. After Mariucci was fired and Marinelli arrive, they wanted him to stay, but he opted out. Joey felt there was no chance he could succeed in Detroit with all of the negativity.

Also, if you look up his stats with the Lions, he was rarely sacked his first 2 seasons. His reputation was that he got rid of the ball TOO SOON. Look it up. He was told to hold the ball longer, and his sack total increased after that.

It is true that Miami chose not to keep him, beause they would have had to pay him a $3 million bonus. They wanted him to stay for a lower salary, but Joey refused. So they did cut him. But it was mostly about the money, not his poor play. When Harrington was the QB with the Dolphins last year, they beat the Bears, Patriots, and Lions, even though they were not a very good team. And this year, without him, they are 0-10.

Is Joey a great QB? No. But does he suck? I beg to differ. The guy is not the athlete that Vick is, but he can win if given the tools to work with. The Lions, Dolphins, and Falcons are all average or poor teams.

By Preston

November 23, 2007 1:48 AM | Link to this

Falcon One- No one here said that Harrington was the reason we lost tonight……but, why do you feel as if you have to give a detailed account for him after the loss???…..you know, last week, Leftwich was attempting to throw a pass when the pocket collapsed on him, causing his passed to be tippped and intercepted by Tampa bay……he was also tripped by a lineman and the ball was swiped out of his hand causing a fumble…..remember the Tn game when one of their lineman jumped over ours, and sacked him for a loss in the backfield……you , know none of this was Leftwich’s fault…..he really is a good qb with a career winning percentage….I say he starts for us the next game…..what do you say, Falcon One?

By Falcon One

November 23, 2007 1:50 AM | Link to this

The reason why Harrington’s winning percentage is so poor is due to 2 things….

  1. He is an average to better than average QB. He will never be in that elite tier like Manning, Brady, etc. who can carry a team on his own. But that does not mean he sucks.

  2. He has been on 3 very lousy teams. Each of them with below average skill players, defense, and most importantly, lousy coaching. Mariucci, Saban, and Petrino are all below average coaches who have had their moments but none of them will be in the Hall of Fame for their coaching or leadership skills.

By Unbiased_Blogger

By blq byrd

Our play calling and clock management has to be the worst in all of football, this includes everything from pop warner to the pros. The person that started the rumor that Petrino was some sort of offensive genuis should be banned from ever speaking again, dare I say that he is worse than last years clowns. With just under seven minutes remaining and needing two scores the Falcons methodically run four plays, using over four minutes and end up punting it back to Indy….. PATHETIC, just PATHETIC.

By Falcon One

November 23, 2007 1:57 AM | Link to this

If I were Petrino, I would start Harrington next week. In the meantime, I would tell Leftwich to get better, get healthy, and be ready to go in if needed. I think it’s a tossup between those 2 QBs, but for now I would still let Joey play because I think he gives us the better chance to win. Just my opinion. But if Joey has another poor game, I’d put Leftwich in. I’m not arguing that Joey is better than Byron, but for right now I would choose Harrington because I think he has played better so far. It’s close between those 2. I was surprised that Leftwich was released by Jacksonville. He must have refused to play between Garrard.

There are reasons why Leftwich got cut by Jacksonville. And even though there is a shortage of QBs, nobody picked him up right away, until the mighty Falcons did. It wasn’t like teams were fighting to sign the guy. What makes you think he can just refuse to play for the Falcons and go to a better team?

FALCON ONE - Because it’s more difficult to be picked up by a team in the midst of the season and the Falcons will not keep both he and Harrington, they will need some cap space. His best bet is that the Falcons cut him, but I doubt it - Harrington will be cut again.

This team is what it is. It’s a team centered around outstanding mobility from the quarterback position. That’s it!

Mike Vick left the biggest hole in a team that I simply cannot remember in football history. The Falcons are just not a good football team without him. And it’s going to take either another strong, mobile quarterback to replace Vick, or you’re going to have to find a bunch of offensive linemen.

I was saddened that they put a zone blocking scheme in last night. It didn’t work and the geniuses of the Falcons should have known better. That scheme was based upon the fact that there was a possibility of a bootleg from Mike Vick. It kept the defense from over-pursuing. But without that threat, they was just pinning their ears back and overloading the corner.

I can say this: Joey Harrington is no superstar. But he is not a bad QB. You can win with Joey, but Joey has to be put in a position to win.

For instance: Joey needs protection of at least 5 seconds. Joey needs every ball that hits the hands caught. Joey needs to feel comfortable and secure about the offense.

But Joey isn’t going to make it happen in Atlanta. Byron Leftwich isn’t either (he just takes too long to wind up.) What the Falcons need is a mobile QB that has some form of accuracy. Period, point blank.

My candidate would be DJ Shockley, if he can do it. If not, you need to draft someone that is like a Shockley.

But don’t go and get a Brohm or Matt Ryan or some other kid that is just going to get killed back there with very little protection.

Or just go and lose again next year with the same squad and wait for Tim Tebow in 2009. Hey, by that time, Mike Vick will be out of prison! Go and check with his parole officer and see if he can at least play home games, (hee, hee!!!)

I doubt anything could have made this Falcons team beat the Colts on Turkey Day, but someone needs to b*tch about the officiating. 1) Near the end of the 1st quarter, before Indy’s 1st touchdown, Falcons punt to Indy and there is no call on a flagrant block in the back by Indy. Right in front of the ref. Cost 25+ yards in field position. 2) That BS roughing the punter call. 3) The flagrant horse collar tackle and body slam on Harrington on the fumble run back. Refs saw it but they called it holding. 4) The pass catch that Petrino wanted to challenge. The ref was looking straight at the guy’s feet when he landed out of bounds. No challenge should have been necessary.

And that was just the first half.

Maybe you people that are defending Joey Harrington are grading him by physical appearance and not actual game performance. This should help you: If a QB throughs the ball over the head, behind the back, and at the feet of the receivers…That is a poor passer. If he completes less that 50% of the passes thrown…(poor passer). If his team’s final score was doubled by the opposition (poor passer) If his team’s record is 3-8 and in last place(poor passer). If he throws more interceptions than TDs (poor passer). If his only legitimate claim to the job is that he’s clean cut, articulate and does not fight dogs (probably he’s a poor passer). People, these may be good enough qualitities to be the President of the United States, but in the NFL (which should stand for Not For Long) for Joey Harrington because…HE Is A Poor Passer! Look at what Peyton Manning did without his star receivers! WAKE UP PEOPLE!

if i had to draft a qb today i’d go for andre woodson or one of the strong armed dropback QB’s. Until vince young or j russell accomplishes something i’d stay away from the scramblers, because the wheels won’t last. quick setup, fast read, quick release, strong accurate arm is still the recipe for success in the NFL whether you like it or not, because it is still the best way to beat the blitz, which is the main thing separating the good from the mediocre. i thought vick would break the mold, and in some ways he did, but the running qb is just too exposed to injury to be worth the huge investment for a starting QB. aren’t we paying leftwich $3MM for the limited time he’s been able to stay on the field? that is what makes peyton and favre so special- they are always, always out there come hell or high water….

Well-said FALCON FREDDIE! Any Joey apologists (LOL) want to talk about last night’s 45.8 passer rating? I find it sickening how hypocritical “Falcons fans” (i.e. Bird Babe) REFUSE to rip Joey “Never-Had-A-Winning-Season” Harrington the way Leftwich was ripped last week! Anyone care to point out that the team has only won 3 out of his 9 starts?! By the way, in the win agianst the Saints, his passer rating was 55.1…so, at best, I’ll really credit Joey w/ 2 wins out of 9. Oh, the excuses…oh, the hypocrisy!

Falcon one agree with you. QB is least of Falcon’s problems. Why Jacksonville release Byron is because Mr. Leftwich is not a team player so he can’t lead not what Falcons need at this stage of the game.

Falcons need everything including receivers that can run routes, catch the ball and hold on to it. Need offensive line that block so Dunn and Norwood can run, No blocking no running yards, don’t care if you Franco Harris and the “bus”. Defense has played decent so get couple more shold shore it up.

Drafting a QB at high rounds would be a waste too much money wasted on one player without players to support. Tried it once already, see where it got us.

Unbiased blogger, you are full of it. MV7 is in jail and even if he gets off with little jail time, there is state charges pending against him in VA and possibly in SC. So pull your head out of your ar$e, your idol ain’t coming back anytime soon. NFL is not going to take him back for simple reason, most sponsors would not want to associate with any team having Vick. You may not agree with PETA and dislike everyone else, but the reality is NFL is business and no legitimate business is going to do business with anyone that creates negative publicity for them.

By the time your hero gets all the state charges dropped against him, it will be few years. Guess what, he can’t plead not guilty on state charges after pleading guilty to federal charges. This reality and you don’t have to like it, agree with it, no one cares.

Stop with your bogus name and BS.

Last night’s game was one of the worst officiated games I ever saw. It was just like the Dallas game last year. The officials cost us that game. The roughing the kicker call was bs, there were a few delay of game peanalties not called on the Colts, a couple jersey tuggings not called, and one pass Gonzalez caught where his foot was on the out of bounds line. The referees really need to get in the game. The Falcons might have won if the referees made the right calls for once!!!! They need to use more replays in this league!!!!

All you people focused on the QB’s miss the big picture. The Colts had better players and were better coached. It doesn’t matter who plays QB because the problems run much deeper. This team has been going downhill for several years and even the sainted MV7 was a sub-500 QB the past two years. He could have played QB last night and the Falcons still would have lost. It only shows how very far the Falcons are from being a contender. As bad as the Falcons played against Tampa, this one was more discouraging.

Well, I see the racists are out in full force, condemning Bird Babe. You people are a joke! harrington played well. He put up thirteen points in the game and that’s thireen more than Ham Sammich put up last week. Harrington doesn’t play on defense and, it’s apparent, no one else does either. There were numerous drops of passes and Harrington doesn’t catch passes, he throws them. The coach, P-U-trino, threw a challenge flag one play too late after a Colts’ receiver caught a pass out-of- bounds and the play ruled good. harrington doesn’t coach the team and, apparently, no one else does either. Harrington is not to blame for the loss. The fault lies with P-U-trino and the miserable play calling and the lack of a defense. Joey is much better than the country Ham Sammich and he proves it every game. Sammich was unavailable last night due to a bruised tailbone. i don’t doubt it the way Tampa Bay kept applying their boots to his buffalo butt!

Guess what - Joey Harrington is no Michael Vick (thank God.) He has handled all this adversity with class, but you Con-Vick jock sniffers wouldn’t know class if it bit you in the butt. Vick will NEVER play in Atlanta again. Maybe he can play in Buffalo and you can move up there with him - Delta is ready when you are. If you don’t want to support the Falcons without him, that is your choice, but quit whining like sissies about it. Whether the Falcons “supported” Vick or not, he pled guilty and nobody in the Falcons organization could change that. He brought all this garbage on himself for his stupid behavior, and brought his team down in the process. He is a selfish moron who may have thrown his whole future away for nothing. You obviously don’t know football. First of all, he didn’t put up 13 points, he was responsible for 6…versus 2 picks by the way. THERE WERE DROPPED PASSES LAST WEEK…but, as usual, it’s an excuse for Joey’s 45.8-rated performance…oh yeah, & PETRINO WAS THE COACH LAST WEEK. What your “ideal” QB has proven every game is that he’s the same inconsistent QB that was run out of Detroit & Miami. By the way, Leftwich was out BECAUSE Tampa Bay “kept applying their boots to his buffalo butt” VIA THE INVISIBLE O-LINE…oh yeah, that’s an EXCUSE reserved for Joey “3-&-6-as-the-starter-this-year” Harrington!!!

Please allow me to shed a different light on this very volatile topic of Atlanta Falcons football. The facts remain as followed:

Harrington is a backup QB, nothing more. Leftwich is injury prone, mechanically inclined(wind up motion), and immobile(not good for this team). Redman has not played football(in an actual NFL game) in 4 years(and if we look at the stats he accumulated with Baltimore, you can see why). This team has a plethora of issues that start from top to bottom, however, resolutions are available. Scenarios and general reasoning can’t always be used to understand why players, coaches, and general managers perform better or worse in different predicaments(think about that for a minute).

I am an African American NFL fan who sees exactly what is going on here, which is unfortunate. Please acknowledge that racism goes both ways, so I will not condone any of the behavior that is being displayed on this blog. This team and city seems to be at constant odds over the Vick situation, but more so racially. I still don’t understand why it has to be this way. My brother is a cop and soldier, who believes Vick deserves another chance, as do I, but not for football, for hisself. The word is redemption. This is from a man who serves his country in more ways than any of us will ever know. When I think of all the soldiers who have fought diligently and died in a war that I still cannot comprehend, it sincerely confuses me. What are we really arguing about? Injustices happen everyday from many who will never admit to any wrongdoing. I’m ashamed, not just as an NFL fan, but as an American. God help us, because we’ve still have a long way to go, but much longer than I could have ever anticipated.

The fact is that Joey did play well. Certainly, he played better than Ham Sammich is capable of. Ham has started two games, but has lost three. Three wins is an excellent number when one realizes the coach is utterly inept and disingenuous. He points his nasty finger of blame at others when it is he who is guilty of having not a clue as to how the professional game is played. As for Vick, he’s going to prison for three years or more. He, also, will receive a suspension fromn the NFL after he is released from prison. There’s also a good chance he will get additional prison time from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Don’t look for him until at least 2012. All Mr. Blank wants from him is his twenty-two million dollars back. Vick is ruined, in every way, and he won’t play in the NFL again. Too bad! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ah-I’m laughing out loud. Besides, Joey Harrington had more touchdown passes, than Vick, coming into this season anyhow. Joey harrington is a much better quarterback than Vick ever was!

Vick had 71 touchdown passes, after last season. Joey had 72. Vick hasn’t thrown a touchdown all year. in fact, he’ll never throw for another in the NFL. Lady J, the Falcons are going to collect the twenty-two million dollars if there’s any left to collect. From the look of things, Vick is out of money. However, a judgement will allow the Falcons to collect any future earnings from Felonious. I don’t know football? You seem to be confusing me with P-U-trino. Poor, poor Joey is a quarterback in the NFL. Vick is a former quarterback who is imprisoned for his felonious conduct. so, what’s your point? Vick’s teams, over the two previous seasons, were 15-17. How does having a losing team differ from having a losing team? Vick had plenty of interceptions, fumbles and bone-headed plays. He won no championships of any kind! Joey is here, vick’s not and Ham Sammich is nursing a kicked posterior. As for racists on this blog, you are so right. List of NFL records and milestones In 2006, Vick became the only quarterback in NFL history to rush for over 1,000 yards during the regular season. In 2006, Vick set the NFL record for most yards per carry in a season, at 8.4. When Vick and RB Jerious Norwood both ran for over 100 yards in Week 4 of the 2006 season, the Falcons became the only NFL team to ever record two games in a franchise’s history where both the quarterback and a running back on the same team surpassed the 100-yard mark in the same game. (Vick and Warrick Dunn both eclipsed 100 yards in Week 2 of the same season.) Vick (1,039 yards) and Dunn (1,140) became the first QB/RB tandem in NFL history to each go over the 1,000-yard rushing mark in the same season. They also became the fourth set of teammates in league history to each have 1,000 or more yards. The last set of teammates to accomplish the feat were Cleveland RBs Kevin Mack (1,104 yards) and Earnest Byner (1,002) in 1985. Earned his second consecutive and third overall Pro Bowl nod in 2005 as he passed for 2,412 yards and 16 touchdowns in addition to leading all NFL quarterbacks with 597 rushing yards and six scores. Named to the second Pro Bowl of his career after leading the Falcons to their third division title in team history and breaking numerous NFL and team records in 2004. Set an NFL postseason record for a quarterback with 119 rushing yards in the 2004 NFC Divisional Playoff win against the Rams. Became the first quarterback to ever throw for more than 250 yards and rush for over 100 yards in the same game at the Broncos (October 31, 2004). Named to the 2002 Pro Bowl, becoming the seventh quarterback to be voted to the NFL All-Star game in his first year as a starter since 1970, joining Dan Marino of the Miami Dolphins (1983), Brett Favre of the Green Bay Packers (1992), Kurt Warner of the St. Louis Rams (1999), Daunte Culpepper of the Minnesota Vikings (2000), Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles (2000), and Tom Brady of the New England Patriots (2001). This group would later include Marc Bulger of the St. Louis Rams (2003), Philip Rivers of the San Diego Chargers (2006), and Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys (2006). Top overall NFL draft choice in 2001 after a celebrated college career at Virginia Tech. Was the fourth Falcons #1 overall pick in club history (Tommy Nobis in 1966, Steve Bartkowski in 1975, Aundray Bruce in 1988)

Now UB currently in your opinion out of college or the NFL…who can lead the Falcons?

Vick is very talented but has to grow up and become a man and make grown up decisions…He will revamp and play again but until then who?

LADY J - In college I hated Vick! After what he did to Georgia Tech I had forgotten all about him, until I moved to San Diego and found out they traded rights to Atlanta. I was like, “what idiots”. Now, having a 38-28 record in a horrible organization with no offensive line, poor receivers and a 180 pound running back and still maintain a winning percentage like that, I would love to see what he would do if he didn’t have to rush his passes because of the poor blocking and receivers who can catch - that would be a dangerous site indeed, but until he COMES BACK, the only other player that would be any good in my opinion would be DJ Shockley, and you saw what the bloggers did to him in the pre season, so if I was him, I’d like to move to another team.

And now Suzan gets to the meat of it. SUZAN blames the poor record of the past 2 seasons on Vick while an even worse record this year isn’t on the QB, but the coach. Suzan you fail to mention that Vicks coach had everthing to do with that record as Petrino has with this one. Vick had the same teammates as Joey does now, and won more games with them than Joey ever will, and you say Joey’s doing great and Vick didn’t. How do you explain that logic?

Your characterization of anyone, other than yourself, as being insignificant, irrelevant, null and/or void is unbridled temerity at its very best. Your expressions of racial intolerance and chauvinism point up what a miserable, wretched individual you are. Boycott this, the Falcons without Joey would be 0-11. Without P-U-trino they’d be 6-5. Without you they’d be missing, what? Not much except a guy who can barely contain his racist ideaology. Asalamalakum, how’d yo momma make ‘um? Congratulations on being able to access Wikipedia.

SUZAN’s comment “Joey Harrington is a much better quarterback than Vick ever was!” speaks volumes of the ignorance that is contained in a lot of the bloggers and AJC writers that refuse to acknowledge the shortcomings and inadequacy of Joey at QB. I would also bet that SUZAN thinks that Micheal Bolton has more “Funk” than The Godfather of Soul, James Brown. Comment like that should get you a lifetime ban from this blog. I would suggest that SUZAN or anyone that would subscribe to her level “thinking”, including the BIRD BABE to watch highlights from the Atlanta vs. Minnesota Viking game on December 1, 2002. Michael Vick scored two touchdowns and ran for an NFL record-breaking 173 yards - including a 46 yard dash in overtime to give the Falcons the 30-24 victory. After the game, the NFL took Michael’s running shoes so they could be displayed at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. My mind goes totally blank trying to think of any similar heroics from Mr. Harrington. At this point, Joey Harrington should be charged double the admission price just to get in for a tour of the Hall of Fame. You people need to Wake up. With a fan intelligence base like this, how could we ever expect more from the Bird Babe, Arthur Blank or McKay. We deserve each other. Perennial Losers!!!

Stupidity and ignorance is often the foundation for racism, but this is all going beyond the realm of sanity.

Freemikevick, it’s Peyton, not Payton. I never liked the thug Vick because I saw him for what he was, a hoodlum. He proved that earlier this year. As for his running exploits, so what? He never got the team to a Super bowl. Only Chris Chandler has done that! He was, without a doubt, the best quarterback ever to play for the Falcons. A Super bowl appearance proves that! what do you want to bet those stanky shoes, Vick wore and sent to the Hall of Fame, have been thrown in a trash barrel? Nobody cares about Mike Vick! He’s just another criminal who is known by a number and not a name. He’s MV730216784. He’s going to be gone a long time Fredball!

Lady J, brainless football brain is contradictory and insipid. One can not have a brain and remain brainless. Work on using better and more literary insults. Vick is gone for good! No one will take on this pariah. For one thing, by the time he can come back he will have been out of football for five years. That’s a long absence and no one is going to want to take the public relations hit that would be a concomitant of hiring a dog killing, lying, pot head such as vick. He’s done and it couldn’t happen to a more deserving and disgusting piece of human waste!

Even though my television is a 55” Big Screen I did not see any red jerseys in the picture when Joey Harrington threw the interception to a crowd of Colts. Can anyone with a wider screen or anyone that was actually still at the game tell me who Harrington was trying to get the ball to?

I don’t recall seeing this throw addressed yet. Is it appropriate to discuss actual game plays or should I keep with the theme of talking about former or sidelined QBs to distract away from the poor play of the actual “Starter” Joey Harrington that came on the losing end of a 31-13 Thanksgivings Day rout that was not as close as the score would indicate.

We lost to a better team, no surpise there. But at least we put up a fight in the beginning. But then, once we get down, this team doesn’t believe in themselves. I’m so glad for Warrick that he got his yards, what a guy, what a teamate! Alot of dropped balls again, too, what’s with that? Colts are just too much especially when our o-line, not great to start with is playing with mostly all subs. D-line desperately needs depth, too. If they draft a QB with the top pick, I’ll eat my Falcons jersey!! Line help on both sides is what’s needed…otherwise, it won’t matter a bit who the QB is. And we don’t need a bruiser back ‘til the line is fixed, either. Hear me, Rich? That man looks like he’s aged a thousand years when they showed him in the pressbox with Arthur. Wonder why?!!

Not exactly the same team! Rossum was let go and the returns have been sporadic at best. Griifith was let go and the Falcons talk of needing a big back. the kicker was cut before the first game of the season and missed field goals have cost the team two or three victories. vick passed for less than 2500 yards last year and harrington, despite the yo-yoing of P-U-trinow will surpass that. The coaching last season, though pitiably inadequate, was far superior to what the Falcons have now. Now, Biased Blowhard there is no such word as dain. It is deign and it means to do something that one considers to be beneath one’s dignity : she did not deign to answer the maid’s question. I can’t imagine anything being beneath your dignity. I have no problem with white QBs. Steve Bartkowski is my favorite QB. Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, Brett Farve, Tom Brady, all great white QBs. Race only becomes an issue when the QB is Black. From Michael Vick all the way back to “Jefferson Street” Joe Gillium of the 1970’s, black QBs are perceived by the average NFL Fan as holding up a job that should be reserved for a white man. It’s sad, but “Ain’t that America” as the song goes. Even Doug Williams, who led the Washington Redskins to a Superbowl victory was second guessed and subjected to more scrutiny and bias in the media and by fans. Just ask Mr. McNabb about bias. I do have problems with poorly performing white QBs that are given a PASS by the media and by the fans. That is what is happening in the case of Joey Harrington. It’s not his fault that he lacks the ability and athleticism to be proficient and successful, but why should I turn a blind eye to his horrid performances as the BIRD BABE and other media writers have done. Any black QB would be held accountable for the problems, just as you have held Micheal Vick and Leftwich responsible for every wrinkle and flaw in the Atlanta Falcon performances. If any black QB played at the performance level that Joey Harrington is playing at, the Atlanta Fans would be chanting the name of any white bum on the bench to come in and take over. That’s just the way it is. If you don’t like reality…try to change it and not ignore it. Also, to denigrate bloggers for using poor grammar during a time when George W. Bush is President shows a total lack of compassion for the President while we are at war. You should be ashamed!!!

I can say something good about Joey Harrington, in the age of performance enhancers, I do not believe that he is a “User”!

Lady BJ, you wouldn’t know wisdom if it slapped a glove across your homely face. Biased blowhard, I reiterate, what is a boycoyt? Fast and losse with the truth Freddie, as I recall Joey started this most recent game because that fugitive from a cigar store, Leftwich, played himself right out of the job. McNabb may know something about prejudice since he’s full of it. He is behind the Eagles letting Garcia go after he took the Eagles to the playoffs. These claims of bias always come to the fore when a black athlete gets into trouble or is taken to task for being an overrated product of a hype machine. Next up to tell tales of racial inequality will be Vince Young. He’s the biggest pile of hype since - - -Mike Vick!

For once & for all, Joey does not suck! No, he can’t run like Vick did behind that pathetic line, but who can? Did you watch his touchdown throw to Roddy?? Perfect throw, right on the money. Give the guy time & he can do it, no doubt. Just because he didn’t win in those other cities, doesn’t mean anything. You have to look at each situation & they both stunk. No, he’s not among the best but he is very proficient given the time to make the plays. Neither of those 2 INT’s was his fault, blame a hard hit on Robinson & then Robinson, the rookie, running the wrong route. What do you people have angainst him? Honestly, I don’t think you are really Falcons fans but Vick fans or you just don’t actually watch any of the games. We should keep Joey next year but draft a QB in the lower rounds & groom that guy. Throwing a new guy behind this line would just be absolutely pointless. And another free agent veteran wouldn’t be any better than what we’ve got. Period. If we fixed both of the lines, def & offensive, we’d be way ahead of the game.

Rossum and Griffith…..they were nothing in the grand scheme of things. Actually Norwood is better at returning kickoffs than he is. Mughelli, though grossly underused, is BIGGER than Griffith. All the big pieces of the team are the same as when Vick was here. Brooking, Milloy, Dunn, White, Jenkins, Crumpler, Hall, Boley, Williams, Abraham, Coleman, and Weiner. But I would like to know why you would blame Vick last year when receivers dropped passes and there was no pass protection along with VERY POOR coaching (Mora was driving D. Hall’s sports car behind the team bus for Christ’s sake!), yet, you blame this years foosball blunders on Petrino with the same weapons or better.

JeanE, INT’S don’t go into the receiver’s stat line. If Robinson ran the wrong route, why throw it his way (into a PACK OF COLTS, I may add, which is telling me he wouldn’t have been open even if he ran the right route)? Ryan Leaf could have made that throw to a wide open Roddy. What about a wide open Robinson in the back of the endzone? Or how bout running for the first down when it’s 4 yards away with daylight ahead instead of throwing it over a would-be receivers again, on third down, no less? How bout throwing it to somebody other than Crumpler when he’s covered by all the linebackers? Harrington is terrible! I’ll take Alex Smith or Trent Dilfer over this guy!!

By Suzan

I blame P-U-trino because it’s his fault to a great degree. He’s sabotaged his team in numerous ways and it’s not just my opinion. Several players have come out and voiced the same opinion. It’s obvious! Griffith was the big back the Falcons now need. Ovie is a blocker and not a very good one. Rossum was much better, on a consistent basis, than is Norwood. Mora was a dunce but he looks like Einstein in comparison to Booby P-U-trino. he won’t last another year here. As for Vick, he was, as we now know, more interested in smoking pot and fighting dogs than playing football. Now he’ll be picking up the soap in a prison shower, a proper ending for a haphazard career and a life out of control. Now when he wears his pants down around his knees he’ll be risking finding a sack he will never forget!

That, however, won’t help him all that much. there will be high dollar judgements against him and any money he ever makes will go to those holding the judgements. he’s a loser and so are all of you!

Here are some facts: 1, he engaged in felonious, criminal activity, 2. he has pleaded guilty, 3. he’s been revealed to be a user of illicit drugs and 4. he is currently imprisoned. More facts? Ok. He’s being sued for millions. The Falcons won the right to go after twenty-two million he owes them. He is destitute! He and Mike Tyson found ways to go through all the money and wind up in prison. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Anything else? Wow, I thought Marge Schott was dead! For those with short memories, Marge was the former Manager of the Cincinnatti Reds that thought Hitler was good for Germany and she also made a lot of derogative and racist comments about the black players on her team. Its scary to think that SUZAN’s views are representative of many of the Atlanta Fans and may even represent Corporate America. If Mississippi State’s boosters can come up to the 21st Century and leave “them old ways” behind, I would have thought that a more progressive Atlanta and Georgia could. SUZAN, I don’t want to be too personal, but have you reproduced yet??? Things that make you go Hmmmmmmm! I believe that the Atlanta Falcons can rise above Joey Harrington (and even the likes of the Suzans of the world) and get it together. This too will pass.

My, how the heathen doth rage! Now listern up holiday fruitcakes! Lady BJ, please learn to spell just a little. It is pathetic to see your poorly written, trite, flatulence stinking up this blog. Your hero, dog killin’, pot smokin’, lyin’ to the commissioner, the owner and the public, Vick, is in prison. He’s going to be there a long time and he will never play in the NFL again. That’s over! He’s flat broke and he has only himself to blame. Get over it! He is a convicted felon that once played football-badly. Flaky Fredball, your comments are meaningless, superfluous and gratuitous. Now, the things I’ve said about Vick are based upon his talent, which is sadly lacking, and the content of his character. He is a low criminal who, rightfully, resides in prison. My opinion of this low-life thug is based solely upon his criminality and not upon anything else. As for Hitler, when he came to power, he was good for Germany. Of course, he soon revealed himself to be a maniacal despot and plunged Germany and the world into a horrible war. What does Hitler have to do with this anyway? What does the late Ms. Schott have to do with it? The appropriate response is-nothing. Get a life Freworm!

The first quarter of the game, the offense was clicking. But I should have seen the signs when Joey twice missed wide open receivers in the endzone.

You can’t blame Harrington for the first interception, White had the ball, but couldn’t hang on and practically gift wrapped it for the Colts’ defense.

The second interception was all Joey, who was he throwing to? I was in the upper deck and I could see that no Falcons receiver was close.

What happened to the Falcon defense? The played well for a while, but you could see they weren’t giving it their all as the game was drawing to a close.

All in all, this was a classic game of a better team outperforming a weak one. I’ll keep watching and going to Falcons games, but it is clear we will not be good again for a long time.

Go Falcons!

Okay Susan, after reading several of your entries, I have to put my two cents in on this one. You apparently are an intelligent and educated person…….I can’t dispute that…even though you are going out of your way to prove this by pointing out the grammatical fallacy of others, which really isn’t necessary. Your entries show that you are well capable of defending your position…. so, let’s talk football okay…..nothing more….nothing less…yes, given time, Harrington will make plays, and good throws…but his 7 seasons in the league has showed us that he is what he is….an average at best starting qb, and an above average backup qb. He had 5 solid yrs to prove himself at Detroit, and eventually had to leave because no one was enamored with him there. He went to Miami and quickly wore out his welcome there. Regardless, of what you and others say about his departure from those 2 teams, what other good, solid qb goes thru 3 organizations in 7 yrs while being considered a prized, top tier commodity? Say what you will about Vick, but the same o-line, and receivers that you attribute to Harrington’s problem’s, were the same one’s plaguing Vick, but for whatever reason, you want to elevate Harrington to a level that he isn’t on, while berating Vick to the lowest level of a player and human being. An honest, objective, and even the earnest of Vick bashers as yourself, should now see and admit that Vick did wonders for this team. The Falcons led the league in rushing for 3 yrs, not because of the mystique of a zone blocking scheme, but because Vick was a threat to run as well as throw……NFL teams had to specifically prepare for Vick every Sunday….teams specifically had to deploy special packages and schemes just to nullify Vick’s talents…….putting in “spies” and loading the line to disrupt and harass him before he even had time to think after taking a snap…….what other qb do teams prepare for as this…..what other qb had to improvise with his skills as much as Vick???? Harrington does not even come close to bringing this sort of attention to himself….why?…..because teams know that he won’t beat them with his legs, and they don’t think that he is capable of beating them with his arm. Vick had his struggles on the field, and at times played poorly, but he had several signature games, that are among the most memorable in NFL history……his two games against the Steelers….the first one where he engineered a comeback of 17 points down in the 4th to leave with a tie, and the game last yr where he threw 4 td’s, are among his best. Can you give me ONE game in Harrington’s career that you consider a signature game???? And as for Vick’s personal problems, you really should give the guy a break…..he has made some bad decisions and choices that have pretty much wreaked his life……..nobody realizes that more than him….after all he is the one that has to live with it…….but, he has expressed remorse and guilt, and it is not out of the realm of possibility for him to right the ship and get his life back on track…..and it really doesn’t matter whether he does it on or off the field, just as long as he does it..

Preston, the games against Pittsburgh were good games for Vick. He also played well against the Bengals and he played very well against the Cowboys in the first half. however, you fail to mention his miserable play against the Giants, Browns, Lions, Saints and Panthers. Joey, in the first game against the Panthers this season, you know, the one Hall agave away, passed for two touchdowns and two touchdowns. The yardage he passed for is the most by any quarterback in Falcons’ history in any one game. Harrington is eveery bit as good as Vick. I think he’s better. He is not as flashy but, the fact remains, he came into this season with one more touchdown pass than Vick in one less year of experience. Really, talking about Vick is pretty pointless. He’s through in the NFL and I’m glad to see the Falcons pursuit of the millions he was paid that he was not entitled to. He had been in violation of his contract, since signing it, and it’s already been ruled upon that Vick is liable for that money. Vick was very adept at portraying himself as a young man who lived within the law and was victimized by the behavior of those who lived off him. The incident at the airport with the watch, the men caught with marijuana in Vick’s truck, the water bottle incident and the initial reaction to the dogfighting allegations. Now, we know he was a pot smoker, a dogfighter and a liar. He deserves what he is receiving and I just couldn’t be happier about it! He’s had too many second chances and he doesn’t deserve any additional ones. Let him rot in prison!

Suzan- I did say that at times Vick played poorly…..don’t misconstrue me there. Vick will still be talked about for a while…..when he does whatever it is for him to do to fulfill his debt to society, he will have pursurers ready to sign him to play football again….because, like it or not people will pay to see him play football, and he will sell out stadiums…..and that is really all that matters. If you think that Harrington is as good as you advertise him, there is really nothing that I can say about that, but that fact remains, he has never played, let alone won a playoff game, or any game of significance to put his name on the map…….yes, he has had some good performances as you note…..but really, there is nothing that he has done of note to put a stamp on his career.

Michael Vick only raped and killed those dogs out of jealousy for how much smarter they were than him. Additionally, those “dumb azz dogs” could also understand the FALCONS playbook better than Vick, and Mr. Vick needed to vainly try to take back some type of ‘power’ over them.

Preston, the stamp on Vick’s career says, OVER. He put it there himself. As for Joey, he’s not a great quarterback but he is competent. That being said, if Joey is merely competent and had thrown, prior to this season, more touchdown passes than Vick, what does that say about Vick? What it tells me is that Vick was way over-hyped and not the great player some make him out to have been. He won’t play in the NFL again. He faces years in prison, possibly more prosecution and a suspension from the NFL. I doubt any team will want him once he’s free to play. Why would they? Here’s a guy who was never very good and he’s proved himself a liar and a thug. I think it’s over for Vick as far as being a player in the NFL.

By preston

November 26, 2007 8:50 AM | Link to this

Suzan-okay…..let me set the rcord straight for you and others that are tying to misled us with your stats…..Harrington did not, nor does he presently has scored more touchdowns than Vick. Vick has 71 passing, and 21 rushing touchdowns for a total for a total of 92….. Harrington has 71 passing and 0 rushing……so what are you and others proving by saying that Harrington has more touchdowns than Vick…….absolutely nothing……remember, we are talking about Vick’s football accomplishments……do not let his personal failures and choices cloud your judgement, rational and even facts as to what type of player that Vick was. His personal problems, and your view of that is what it is.

By Suzan

November 26, 2007 9:07 AM | Link to this

Preston, you aren’t setting the record straight for me. I have the record. I’ve always said Harrington has thrown more touchdown passes than Vick and he has. Vick scored some touchdowns running but, for the most part, his running did not benefit the team.

Vick was 8-8 and 7-9 for the last two years of his career. This year was going to be the make or break year for him. If he woud have played and not lead the team to the playoffs then it’s feasable that the Falcons would have tried to trade him. You can make a strong case that Vick did not have the ability to read defenses. His running ability was diminishing because defenses were figuring out how to stop him. Would Petrino have made a difference with Vick? We will never know.

By Lady J

November 26, 2007 9:24 AM | Link to this

and also the qb for the Eagles last night was great agaisnt The Golden boy so Race doesn’t have anything to do with it…like Preston pointed out with numbers Harrington is average at best…

And Rufus you are right this was a make or break year for Vick in Atl…I agree with that! But my thoughts are why wait to the end to demand the most TALENTED player in the NFL to produce! It should have statred with Dan Reeves and I know Dan did his best but disciple in on self is so important!

I think everyone is missing the point here. Even with Vick, the team wasn’t that good because of the OL. If he had a better OL, he would be better. Any QB for that matter would be better with a decent OL. The playcalling isn’t that great either. It doesn’t make a difference with JH or BL as QB. As long as the OL plays like swiss cheese and the playcalling look worse than Pop Warner, this team will find it hard to score, let alone win games.

lol….lady j….you see you only have to stick with the facts, and then you will see that some of these arguments don’t stand up to much at all…..the only thing that I am debating here is those that say that Harrington is a better qb than Vick….nothing more or less…….I have given Suzan several opportunities to support her premise, and she keeps only resorts to talking about Vick’s personal issues……the only thing that I am interested in is hearing what she has to say about the opposing teams specific defensive packages to stop Vick…..the several games played by Vick that characterized his uniqueness, value, and worth to the NFL……not just the “2 second clips” from one game that she and others would have us to beleive……and the fact that Vick’s overall touchdown contributions to his team are much more than 71, as she and others subtlely try to say proves that Harrington was better because he passed for…lol…1 more…totally negating and refusing to admit that Vick threat was to run or pass, which in reality shows that his combined touchdown total was 92, as opposed to Harrington’d 72…..they have nothing to say about Vick’s multible pro-bowl, and playoff appearances…..there is nothing more that they can say but to talk about his personal problems and demise, which are indefensable……but it has nothing….and I mean nothing to do with his accomplishments on the football field.

Let me do a little to clear up the stat argument here:

Michael Vick: Drafted 2001. 930/1730 11505 Yds., 53.8% Comp. %, 71 TD, 52 INT, 187 Sacks. Rating: 75.7. 529 Carries, 3859 Yds., 21 TD, 19 Fumbles/9 Lost.

Joey Harrington: Drafted 2002. 1407/2504 14509 Yds., 56.2% Comp. %, 79 TD, 84 INT, 121 Sacks. Rating: 69.6. 142 Carries, 402 Yds., 0 TD, 7 Fumbles/1 Lost.

With these Numbers, we can figure that Harrington is on pace to throw 82 TD (not this season, that would be a record), but have 0 rushing.

By comparison, Vick will have, at the same point in his career, threw for 71 TD, but rushed for an additional 21, totaling 92. Also, Vick had a higher QB rating at this point in his career than Harrington.

While Harrington has thrown for more yards, this can be attributed to the higher number of attempts.

Going through the stats, you could say that the Falcons had an average pocket QB, but an exceptional QB at getting out of the pocket to make plays.

Now, the Falcons have an average QB that is unable to escape a collapsing pocket.

The question for Atlanta fans is not who’s the better QB, because as QB’s, both are average. The difference is that Vick was capable of moving around to keep plays alive.

With all that said, I do not believe Harrington is the answer for the Falcons, neither is Byron Leftwich, Michael Vick, Chris Redman, or even D.J. Shockley. The Falcons will have no answer at QB until the offensive line problems are sorted out. That is the most telling stat of all, in 6 seasons, Vick was sacked 187 times, and this season, Harrington and Leftwich have gone down a combined 51 times.

The QB is not the main problem, the O-Line is.

No problem Lady J.

Preston is right, if you look at the stats and do not attempt to manipulate them, they can be very telling. You can also have the same problem with language. I tried to find the results, but I believe Vick was undefeated against the Patriots (1 preseason win, he did not start the 2 regular season games vs NE, both Atlanta losses).

I don’t like to blame one player for a team problem. I think the first thing that needs to happen is the team needs to sort out it’s internal issues (e.g. Veteran players calling out the coach). Once those problems are solved, then you can take a look at the team. That is when you will see the glaring problem of the O-Line.

lady j, I actually don’t work in corporate America….I am just as regular as the average joe off the streets…..but it is really not hard to stick with the facts and debunk a lot of the foolishness that some people post on these blogs……it is obvious that someone like Suzan is a very educated person….just read over some of her posts…she gets more glee in displaying her command of perfect english and diction, while ridiculing and mocking the grammatical errors and syntax of others…….funny thing is, this is not the platform for extolling the virtues of the english language on some Sheakesperian platform of soliloquy…..I am sure that there is a place on the net for her to be appreciated for her linguistic prowess….but this blog is not that place…I am more impress with an objective, honest and fair view of the overall facts of this platform, not just bits and pieces to support someone’s point of view….and I don’t care to entertain any of the inflammatory and derogatory crap that some people post just to invoke a certain reaction……but this blog is for bumbling fools as myself…..who like football….with a little common sense….and that is really all you need.

Preston, I do not deny the talent Vick posseses. he was a unique individual in that he could throw the ball a mile and run faster than a deer. Two years ago, the Falcons were 6-2 at the mid-way point. They wound up 8-8. We now know that things, other than football, were taking precedence in his life. Last season, the Falcons were 5-3 after the first eight games. Vick threw three touchdown passes against the Bengals, four against Pittsburgh and he threw four in the first half against Dallas. In the other thirteen games, he threw nine. In those multi-touchdown games it was apparent that this guy had the ability to be one of the greatest quarterbacks of this, or any other, era. Other things, though, got in the way. Mike played up to his ability when the opposition was good. If the team the Falcons faced was mediocre or bad Mike left the playbook unstudied. That’s obvious! Also, as we now know, he was hitting the weed pretty good and thoughts of dog fights were occupying his time. It’s a real shame! This man had a job, a lifestyle and a public persona that most people can only dream of. His is a tragic fall and a cautionary tale. As for Jason Campbell, i think he’s the best young quarterback to come along in a long time. He definitely has the arm and the brain to be one of the greats. He, aside from his talents, gets along with everyone on the team and he doesn’t affect an image that some would find objectionable. He’s a good player and a good guy. Surprised?

Preston, I agree with your 4:17 post, with a few exceptions. Education used incorrectly can make you an educated fool. Using 20 dollar college words on a FOOTBALL BLOG when you can use a 50 cent synonym doesn’t really bode well of anyone and is not really impressive to me. If Albert Einstein can write letters to President Roosevelt concerning nuclear physics without 20 dollar college words, one would have to wonder whether they are really appropriate on a football blog. I believe in Freedom of Speech, but this is just football. While I’m no psychiatrist, I would bet that the “wonderful” vocabulary that we are being exposed to is the mental signature of a very frustrated 8th Grade English teacher making $35,000 a year who reads 20 books a month with no social outlet other than this blog to spew racial insensitivities that she dare not spew in the work setting. Just a hunch. At any rate, comparing Michael Vick and Joey Harrington when there’s no real comparison is really puzzling to me. Atlanta is only 3-8, what are we going to be comparing when they are 4-12. Whether Michael Vick’s dog charges are less serious than Bobby Cox’s wife battery charges? I realize it’s no longer summer and we can’t watch eggs fry on the sidewalk or sit outside and watch the bug zapper kill bugs, but comparing Joey Harrington to Vick??? The statistics that people are listing do not include several factors, including intangibles like the “excitement factor” that do not show up in statistics and the fact that Vick had a “ball and chain” named Jim Mora Jr. tied around his leg and Brian Finneran dropping touchdowns in the end zone. Jim Mora Jr. was a Jr. High School laboratory experiment gone very bad. Laugh at the “oooohhhh awwwww” factor if you will, but prepare yourself for more blackouts when the dome stops selling out because of the lack of the exciting plays and the competence of a lackluster QB. I believe in giving the people what they want. They were all chanting for JOEY who had just beat two teams that have a combined victory total of 7 games between them. Let Joey play and let the BIRD BABE continue to praise his lack luster performance. People, in your responses please don’t hit me with those 20 dollar words. I’d much rather be called an “a-hole” than a rectum. This is a Football BLOG!!!

I apologize to you Lady j. I in no way intended to malign teachers anywhere. I just think we should keep things in perspective and relative to the FOOTBALL matters at hand. Who knows, the coaches may be getting desperate enough to read the BIRD BABE Blog for new ideas. We never found out who Jim Mora Jr. was calling on the cell phone. It may have been the BIRD BABE. Talk about desperation! At any rate, we’re not giving the coaches any help. I need to do better myself. I’m going to watch Joey Harrington and the rest of the feathered warriors very closely this weekend and come back with an honest assessment, no matter how much praise the BIRD BABE dishes out. Please accept my apology on the English teacher comment; I was only trying to make a point.

I would clean house and start over. I do worry about McKay staffing a new team though. You have to question anyone that would hire Jim Mora Jr., with that class of coaches that were available for him to hire. I worry would the new Falcon team assembled, be even worse than what we are seeing now. It should be apparent as many people have mentioned, that Michael Vick was masking many weak links on the team by keeping defenses off balanced. I think we are headed into a “funk” like the team got into in the mid to late 80’s.

I’m sorry Lady t, only 28, I guess I need to start carding folks huh. I’m going to be blunt. When you have a consistently losing team - year after year like we have, you can blame it on one person or another, but the root cause is usually the organization. When you see things like hiring Jim Mora Jr.; or having an excellent QB and not giving him the necessary tools to win (i.e., O-line and RCVRS), the issue is an upper level organizational problem. In contrast look at the teams that Tony Dungy built in Tampa Bay and in Indy. Yes, I did say the team that Tony Dungy built (No disrespect to Mr. McKay who probably signed the paychecks). As much as I hate Dallas, I have to admit that they have a good football organization. Other than Dan Reeves, Atlanta has seemed to resist fielding a class act organization. Talent is essential, but misapplied, it means nothing. Remember when we had T. J. Duckett, but would use the much smaller Dunn on 4th and Goal situations? How can you make sense out of that? I don’t claim to have the answer, but if Indy, Dallas, NE, and Pitt have found the recipe for consistent success, it can’t be a military secret. As I said before, I would clean house, replace McKay with a proven and consistent winner, being wary of guys that look good on paper only.

got you and I am grown and still honest to say still learning life and football…lol

so I do share those same ideas and i am with you with Dungy and not bc he is black and Pitts with their former coach and of course the new coach…Not a Dallas or Tampa fan either but they are solid organizations over years and with hopes the Falcons can find a reciepe that works…

Thanks for your opinion

Can we stop talking about Vick already and focus on the current Falcons? As Suzan explained over and over and over….MICHAEL IS HISTORY. Finito. Sayonara. Arrivederci. Get over it people.

It’s so pointless to talk about him, and to compare him to others. It has no impact on the current or future Falcons. Vick is toast. So let’s move on.

Harrington deserves to play for Atlanta, and the team should build around him. Just my opinion.

Thank you for your kind words sir. No, race doesn’t really matter, or shouldn’t, but there are folks on here who will give you the same treatment they give Terence. If you are a free-thinker, and not in lock-step, many of these individuals will start Tommin’ you and callin’ you an oreo and worse. Terence was attacked for judging Vick by the content of his character and finding him sadly lacking. I think Joey has done as good a job as anyone could do under these circumstances. The head coach doesn’t seem to have much of a clue. He’s sabotaged his team all year and three wins is a huge number when you look at all that has happened. I hope some college will take him and we can begin to get this ship un-wrecked. Take care.

Those are two of the nicer things said about African-American posters who do not see everything in terms of black and white. Those folks suffer at he hands of their “brother man,” know what I mean? Many years ago, Andy Young and Sidney Marcus opposed each other in a race for Mayor of Atlanta. Young was backed by Maynard Jackson and Maynard characterized the blacks who supported Marcus as “grinning, shuffling Negroes.” Not much has changed in that regard. Hosea Williams, an old and dear friend of mine, once said that Lester Maddox did more for black people than any governor in the history of Georgia. He was right but he still had to suffer plenty of insults from people who thought it improper for a black man to utter anything like that. Good luck with these folk.

Suzan, thanks for the clarification and I agree with everything that you said. Unfortunately we are in America where there is right and wrong, black and white; and then there is REALITY. Reality is where you have 75% of the people on death row being black. I don’t defend nor would I like to see those blacks freed, but you have to acknowledge that just maybe there may be some racism going on in the system somewhere. There are some Uncle Toms and Clarence Thomases in American, but I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. In Micheal Vick’s case, while I do not support his criminal activities, you have to wonder would Peyton Manning have received the same treatment if he was running an illegal deer hunting outfit or even the same pit bull fighting ring. The answer, (while hypothetical) is no. The FEDS would have given Peyton Manning immunity to help them convict his business partners. In the case of Vick…we know how it worked out. Research how Elvis lived and how James Brown lived and you’ll find prosecutions in Mr. Brown’s case and Drug Czar award from President Nixon for Elvis, even though they lived very similar lifestyles. Why Barry Bond indictments and no Mark McGwire indictments? As educated people, we have to take off the blinders and realize that society, including the American Justice system is flawed…While, I did make references to Marge Schott in an earlier discussion we had, I apologize. As you hate to be called a Tom, I hate that blacks are labeled as radicals if we criticize the overt racism that we have to face on a daily basis, from unequal pay, unfair promotions, to selective prosecutions and etc., etc. A few years back at the Super Bowl, a prominent white man exposed Janet Jackson’s breast on national television. Who was made the villian??? If you guessed the white man that did it, you’re wrong! In America, you can’t sell a White Male Villian story… The networks lost money on Timothy McVeigh.

I do not disagree with anything you’ve said. Racism is an ugly stain upon the fabric of America and it seems nothing is able to remove it. I support equal treatment under the law and it is clear, since DNA testing became available, that many black people were railroaded to prison for crimes they did not commit. It has freed some white folks too but it seems the majority, found to not have done the crimes they’ve done time for, have been black. As for Bonds and McGwire and all the rest, make cases, imprison them if they’ve acted criminally and remove any mention of them from the records that baseball keeps. Racism, preferential racism, played a part in Vick’s downfall. Early on, in the investigation, Gerald Poindester, the prosecutor for Surry County, Virginia, went to Vick’s place and said he saw no signs of animal abuse or mistreatment. The sherif and his deputies saw plenty of evidence to indicate that what they were looking at was a dogfighting operation. Poindexter didn’t see it. Let me say here that Poindexter and the sherif are both African-American. Poindexter went slower than a snail and there was the perception that he had no intention of getting to the truth of the matter. Meanwhile, Vick was walking around and saying things that sounded awfully arrogant, such as,”all over the world people love me and no matter what I go through they’re going to always love me.” That’s when the Feds stepped in! Had Poindexter pursued the case with due diligence this case would have remained an insignificant one. As it is now, Vick is in complete ruin. If Poindexter really wanted to hook a brother up, he should have prosecuted him quickly on some fairly innocuous charges and it would have been over. As for Peyton, what if he’d been involved in something akin to this? he would have been skewered. The same sort of result would have come to pass. People just love to pull a star back down to Earth and stomp the livin’ hell out of it!

Suzan, when it comes to Michael Vick you definitely could be the judge, jury and executioner. I still can’t understand the intensity of your contempt for him, but I’ll leave it at that. A true measure of greatness in sports is having the ability to rise above adversity and calamity. Wilma Rudolph, Lance Armstrong, and Muhammad Ali all did it. Muhammad Ali went from being vilified and banned from boxing to become the undisputed Greatest boxer of all times. I don’t think we’ve seen the final chapter on Michael Vick. I do think that if he draws a five year sentence his ability to compete at the NFL level will be lost. Thanks for the political insight on Andrew Young and Lester Maddox. I was always grateful to Gov. Maddox for giving Muhammad Ali a license to box in Georgia allowing Ali’s return to the ring. I don’t think it worked out quite the way Maddox planned it, but the rest is history. You’re not going to run and hide when Joey Harrington turns out to be “The Joey Harrington that we thought he was” to quote an earlier blog? Even if you change your name, I’ll recognize your attempt at “ebonics”. Your ebonics are as good as my French which got me laughed out of Paris.

By Suzan

Whatchu talkin’ ‘bout Willis? Bad comparison! Muhammad Ali was ostracized for his political stance. He refused to become part of the Vienam War and he took the blows and kept to his beliefs. He was, wrongly, kept from earning a living through boxing for about three and one-half years. It was the right thing when he was given a license to fight Jerry Quarry here. You may suspect Lester’s motives but the fact is that Lester’s rhetoric and his actions, in regard to race, did not come anywhere close to being the same thing. Vick is being imprisoned for his six-year involvement in a clandestine, criminal enterprise. He is, in no way, to be confused with Muhammad Ali! Ali stood upon principles and the world, after a time, came to respect his beliefs and to acknowledge his stance as a correct one. Vick, as evidenced by his lying and criminal behavior, has no principles. That’s why he’s in prison! Joey Harrington had nothing to do with Vick’s demise as a player in the NFL. That was all self-inflicted. Joey has done about as well as anyone could under these horrible circumstance. The coach is an atrocity and there is a dearth of any kind of talent on the team. P-U-trino has done nothing to steady this ship and to build a program here. He makes Mora look like the second coming of Vince Lombardi!

By Falcon Freddie

Whatchu talkin’ bout Suzan? You must be multitasking ‘cause you ain’t reading my posts. Comprehension please! Show me where I compared anyone to Muhammad Ali. That would be almost sacrilegious. I said a true measure of greatness in sports would be rising above adversity a’la Ali. I never said that Vick could/would do this or made any such comparison. Ali is, was and will be the Greatest. I can’t believe you’re an apologist for Lester Maddox. You should read Muhammad Ali’s book, “The Greatest”. Ali describes in great detail the lead up to the Quarry fight in Atlanta and Lester Maddox’s involvement. When Hosea Williams said, and I quote you on this one “Lester Maddox did more for black people than any governor in the history of Georgia.” he was alluding to the fact that the previous Governors hadn’t done anything for black people. You could make the same statement about Alabama Gov. George Wallace and Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus during their respective tenures. They all did more for blacks than their predecessors who did nothing positive. It’s not what you say, but the context of how you say it. As a seasoned politician, Hosea should have been more careful in his choice of words. You misconstrued him, so maybe other people thought he was being complementary of Maddox as well. Senator Trent Lott found that out at Strom Thurmond’s 100th Birthday Party. Be careful who you compliment. Go Falcons!

By Suzan

November 29, 2007 8:33 PM | Link to this

Hosea thought enough of Lester that he lobbied to get benefits for him when he was sick. Lester, according to Hosea, brought more black people into government and helped African-Americans more than all the previous governors of Georgia combined. Mentioning Muhammad and Vick in the same post is reason enough to take umbrage. Muhammad visits Atlanta occasionally and his love for people is truly inspiring. He is a genuinely good person. Vick is not! As we now know, Strom Thurmond took integration to the maximum level. He has a daughter with a black woman, so he didn’t hate black people as much as some seem to think. As for being an apologist, i’m just stating facts and not apologizing for a thing.

I’m with you. I don’t have anything against Joey Harrington, I just wish that the media would critique him as they did Michael Vick. This is the N.F.L. which should stand for Not for long for mediocrity. They were not cutting Vick any slack. I’m just trying to be Fair and Balanced. Now you hear the announcers saying “the receivers have got to catch balls like that”. Or when Joey entirely overthrows or underthrows, they say “the receiver must have been running the wrong route”. How can you know that unless you’re in the huddle??? Why give the QB the benefit of the doubt. They should have a chance Sunday. The Rams are one of the teams that are in worse shape than we are.

I am use to the racial undertones with all quaterbacks in the nfl…Remember blacks are that intellligent to be quaterbacks as said by some of the great minds of the game! Don’t spend too much time waiting on Joey Harrington to develop. I would think that if he had “skills” like Eli Manning or even their dad Archie at 65 years old, we would have seen them by now. We’ve been though 11 games already. Whatcha See is Whatcha Get. To borrow an old saying. He’s a solid second string QB. Most Super Bowl teams have backup QBs that can come in and still give you an even shot to win a game…given the rest of the team hasn’t changed. Do some research on Earl Morrall (Baltimore and Miami) and Doug Williams (Wash), if you don’t believe that. Joey Harrington would be third string to these guys.

Alot of research has been done in the area on malnutrition on the continent of Africa over the past several hundred years. Some scientist are linking the lack of proper nutrition to the poor IQ scores of negroes. Hopefully, more research will confirm the present findings. If nutrition is the culprit, then their is hope for the negroes. Ther may be hope for people such as Lady J.

Look for Vick, in light of the sentences handed down today, to be given a prison term of three years. His flunkies were given significant time and he will be given more time than they received. Realistically, one would have to be denser than a London fog to think Vick will ever play in the NFL again!

Co-defendants’ sentence good news for Vick

By BILL RANKIN The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Published on: 11/30/07

Richmond - Suspended Falcons quarterback Michael Vick got some good news Friday when a federal judge chose not to impose lengthy prison terms against Vick’s two friends and co-defendants in an illegal dogfighting operation.

U.S. District Court Judge Henry E. Hudson, who will sentence Vick on Dec. 10, chose to stay within federal sentencing guidelines when he handed down prison terms of 18 months for Purnell Peace and 21 months for Quanis Phillips. Because Hudson was not bound by sentencing guidelines, he could have sentenced both men up to five years in prison, if he found the circumstances warranted it.

But Vick’s hopes for exceptional leniency from Hudson certainly evaporated Friday when the judge imposed longer sentences on Peace and Phillips than federal prosecutors had recommended.

What happened to the pit bulls on Vick’s Surry County, Va., property was a “tragedy,” Hudson said. “You may have thought this was sporting but it was very callous and cruel,” Hudson told Phillips before imposing sentence.

The judge called both men major players in the operation and indicated that was a reason he wasn’t wholly following prosecutors’ recommendations.

But because Hudson stayed within the sentencing guidelines, Vick, who now sits in a Virginia jail awaiting sentencing, must be a bit relieved, Richmond criminal defense attorney Steve Benjamin said.

“If Vick was hoping to get the lowest sentence possible, this is not a good indication that’s going to happen,” Benjamin said. “But the most important news is that the judge stayed within the guideline range. All things considered, this was very good news for Vick.”

But a courtroom battle may still be looming.

Under terms of Vick’s plea deal, reached in August, federal prosecutors have agreed that Vick should have a sentencing guideline range of 12 to 18 months in prison. The prosecution also has said it will recommend that Vick be sentenced on the lower end of the guidelines, a recommendation Hudson declined to accept on Friday for Peace and Phillips.

But Vick’s guideline range could increase, depending on how a U.S. probation officer views the case and whether Hudson agrees. Has Vick truly accepted responsibility for his conduct? Did he have a leadership role in the Surry County, Va., dogfighting operation?

If the probation officer, who will make recommendations to Hudson as to a sentence, believes Vick did not accept responsibility, he could face more time in prison. In his plea agreement, Vick parsed his words carefully as to whether he actually killed pit bulls himself.

But a court filing this week by the U.S. Attorney’s Office did not equivocate on the point. At various times when some of the Bad Newz Kennels dogs were deemed to be poor fighters, they were executed, the filing said.

“The most violent episode occurred in April 2007 when [Purnell] Peace, Quanis Phillips and Michael Vick executed approximately eight dogs that performed poorly in testing sessions,” prosecutors said.

Also, if Vick is found to have been a leader, organizer or supervisor of the dogfighting operation, he could be exposed to even more prison time, according to the federal sentencing guidelines.

If the U.S. probation officer conducting the investigation of Vick’s case has made such findings and recommended his sentence be enhanced, Vick’s attorneys will make it known when they file objections next week.

Before the sentencing of Vick’s co-defendants, one of his lawyers, Lawrence Woodward, was asked if he expected any controversies at Vick’s upcoming sentencing.

“What did Yogi Berra once say?” Woodward asked. “Predictions are very difficult, especially when you’re talking about the future.”

Walking out the courthouse after Peace and Phillips’ sentence, Woodward declined comment.

The Falcons can go after it and they are. As for being back, he is done! He will never play in the NFL again. Laugh out loud about that! Thought you were leaving. Please don’t let us detain you. Players union goes to court for Vick’s bonuses

By STEVE WYCHE The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Published on: 11/29/07

Lawyers for the National Football League Players Association will argue in court Friday that an earlier ruling allowing the Falcons to recoup $19.97 million in bonus money paid to suspended quarterback Michael Vick was wrong. The NFLPA hopes to reverse the ruling not only because it could help Vick but also to establish a precedent to prevent teams from pursuing such action in the future.

High-ranking officials from the Falcons, including president and general manager Rich McKay, and NFL attorneys will argue that special master Stephen Burbank’s Oct. 9 ruling allowing them to pursue the money was correct.

The money has already been paid to Vick in guaranteed bonuses that were part of a 10-year, $130 million contract he signed in 2004.

Burbank ruled in favor of the Falcons on the grounds that the nearly $20 million already paid to Vick was for work that was expected to be completed. Vick cannot fulfill that work because he is under indefinite league suspension after pleading guilty to federal charges related to dogfighting, Burbank ruled.

Vick is in a federal jail awaiting sentencing — Dec. 10 — on those charges.

If U.S. District Judge David Doty in Minneapolis rules in favor of the Falcons, Atlanta will begin the process of trying to recoup the $19.97 million. Once it receives the money — some or all of it — they will gain salary cap relief the following year. For example, if the team receives a check from Vick in 2008, the money will be credited to the salary cap in time for the 2009 season.

BREAKING NEWS: We have just learned that disgraced, FORMER Falcons Quarterback Michael Vick has been branded with the nickname “Peter Pan” among his cell mates in a Virginia jail. Mr. Vick’s fellow male prisoners have informed us that the confessed dog rapist, abuser and murderer has quickly earned that moniker due to the fact that the other inmates are able to spread the one-time NFL star’s buttocks “like peanut butter.”

How unfortunate.

If there is nothing else worth reporting, we’ll have further updates on Michael Vick’s fellowship with his neighboring prisoners as they occur.

I thought this was a Football Blog. After reading today’s post its clear that this is a KKK, NAZI, Skin-Head, Hate based Newsletter. Some of you guys sound like you have real first hand experience when it comes to prison love and sex. You definitely know more about prison sex than Football. Why so much celebration for the demise of Michael Vick? Even if Michael Vick is totally “punked out” in prison, he’ll still be more MAN than you! Did you guys celebrate this much when Timothy McVeigh was found guilty of killing 168 PEOPLE??? Also, did you celebrate this much when Eric Rudolph, the Atlanta Olympic Bomber that killed 1 and injured 100 people was convicted? Did you celebrate this much with the US Army Soldier was convicted of raping and killing a 14 year old Iraqi girl and her entire family. I’ll bet you did. Well, maybe not since those weren’t black men and the victims were not just dogs. You know what’s the difference between you and your grandfathers? No, I don’t just mean that you have a pretty nice trailer and high speed internet services. The difference is that they would have broken Michael Vick out of jail and lynched him. The fruit doesn’t fall far from the trees. The only thing stinking up the place more than the Falcons this year are the racist and mean spirited fans posting to this blog. The only refund Arthur Blank deserves is a full refund from the Smith Family for the entire team, and the flakey no-knowledge fans. For those of you that love cut and pasters, here’s one from your hero: “Information is moving — you know, nightly news is one way, of course, but it’s also moving through the blogosphere and through the Internets.” —George W. Glad you asked about me I’ve benn busy you know, having a life OUTSIDE OF THE BIRD BABE BLOG and all! Sorry I couldn’t find those xxxl tampons you asked for in the chat room the other day but i’ll be sure to look when I get done being a young black male with no record, no feolonies, no probation, no illegitimate kids, a college education, 2 good jobs, and a LEXUS THAT AIN’T STOLEN, but is still smokin’ hot! You know, basically a Ni(gga) who DOESN’T FIT THE STEREOTYPES but still talks shhh to hateful snobby “ritz bitz” like yourselve(s)! Will do that for you right away, ma’am…(or it, idk)

Now football-wise, hell I can’t fron we might win but I REALLY don’t want them to. Honestly I want us to finish 3-13. Not to show up Davina and Su-zany, but to see the falcs get a top 3 or 5 draft puck so we can have a shot at either Jake Long or DMC. Glen Dorsey would benice but I see a bill of goods where an actual commodity once sttod and played, given his recent rash of injury woes. Maybe he shakes it off and produces in the NFL, who knows? I just don’t see him as a fit for us anymore IF his injuries continue to hamper him.

No Vick , hey no prob!! Dennis Dixon, Pat white, Andre Woodson (needs better escape-ability though), or Juice williams would do just fine here (in p** off folks like my homegirl David!!) with their “athletic arrogance” and “unique playing styles.” RBTL folks!!

I think the Falcons will look better tomorrow. I’m guessing it will be 20-17, with the Rams win a close one at home. Joey Harrington should look good early but end up throwing 2 INTs to decide the game and being knocked out or taken out by the 4th QTR. They need to start looking at Redman anyway. The real tests will be New Orleans and Tampa Bay after that.

Since Bulger is not playing, I think the Falcons will beat the Rams 21-16 in a somewhat ugly game. This assumes we are able to run the ball. If we have no running game, then the Rams prevail 24-10 and Joey throws a TD and a pick.

I don’t believe Redman will see much playing time. If he had enough talent, then he would have played for someone in the past 3 years, but since being dropped by the Ravens, the dude has been unemployed.

My assessment of Joey—-he is an avg to better than avg QB. He can manage a game, but he can’t take over a game. He needs good playes around him (which the Falcons lack). He also needs a good coach, also which is lacking in Atlanta. He’s not the most accurate guy, but he can hit open receivers. Hopefully Joe Horn will give us a needed spark against St. Louis. Joey handles pressure fairly well, but he is simply not very mobile. If you stay in basic coverage, he can pick you apart. But if you change up and disguise your defense, you can confuse him. He needs his receivers to run accurate routes and to CATCH THE DAMN BALL. When they don’t we see INTs like we did against the Colts. He’s a better than average athlete, but he’s almost 30, so he’s no kid anymore. He has a decent command of the game, but he is still cannot take over the game on his own, like a very select few QBs can in the NFL.
