Big hole in the middle

The youth movement has begun. Cutting Grady Jackson is puzzling to me. No, he wasn’t having a great season, be he was still one of the leading tacklers on the team. To be honest, I was surprised he was still on the team after suing them in the offseason.

Teams had little trouble finding holes with the big guy in the middle, so it will be interesting to see how the Falcons fill that gap he’s leaving behind.

The Falcons have been impressed with the rookie Lewis and sounds like he will be the starter. I’m all for change. Can’t hurt.

Hello, bye week

Thank goodness for the bye.

Can we just stop the season now? I do not know what to say. I really thought Joey was going to lead them to the win late. Not being able to score a touchdown inside the 5 is inexcusable.

Leftwich wasn’t the answer everyone had hoped for. He played fine, but the Falcons need a quarterback and playcalling that will get them into the end zone. Field goals aren’t enough. Hope his injury isn’t too serious. I’d like to see what he can do in a full game.

Roddy had another good game.

I know the players are frustrated and the fans are, too. A lot of work to be done in the bye week.

Hope Leftwich is the answer

Leftwich better be ready to run for his life, throw under pressure and get rid of the ball fast. It doesn’t matter who the starter is, the o-line has to block better if the Falcons are going to beat the 1-win Saints.

Petrino needs to get Norwood more involved with the offense. If the Falcons can’t run, they can’t pass and this team hasn’t done either this season. Roddy has been really good at times, but he’s not consistent. And until Alge makes catches he should make, he can’t complain. This would be a good game to make Horn part of the offense. He’s been pretty nonexistent in the first six games.

Hope Leftwich is more accurate than his last outing. He was sailing balls all through the stratosphere against the Titans. The receivers can’t catch passes thrown into their hands, much less those that are off target.

D. Hall needs to wake up. We need the “best corner in the league” to act like it.

Need a win desperately before the bye week.

Go Falcons!

Monday Night Bummer

The Falcons had their chances. Not capitalizing on the fumble recovery or D. Hall’s interception hurt. They just can’t seem to take advantage of other team’s mistakes. Same as last week.

I was optimistic in the first few minutes of the game. Harrington looked good, the O-line was holding its blocks, the receivers were catching the ball. Then they could only get 3 points out of it. Kind of deflating.

Norwood’s long TD run was the highlight of the game. He can fly. The move he made was unbelievable.

The Falcons need a kicker who can make a long field goal. Morten is consistent within about 40-45 yards, but the Falcons need every point they can get.

The Giants got the boost after the roughing-the-kicker penalty and they never looked back. They got big plays when they needed them. Eli hit Plaxico, Toomer and Shockey with ease. How can someone be so open down the middle? How does the coverage break down like that? I don’t get it. D. Hall was sleep-walking through most of the first half, and then it was too late.

Too many Giants fans in the Dome tonight. Tired of seeing Manning and Shockey jerseys everywhere.

1-5 is bad. I don’t think this team is this bad. Joey is not great, but he makes good plays at times. He needs some help. He needs blockers and he needs the receivers to hang onto the ball. He needs to stick to the short throws. He can’t seem to make the long throws.

Go Falcons!!!

Pathetic offense

I am so mad right now. Joey Harrington should have finished out the game. Bringing Byron Leftwich in was a huge mistake. A bad offensive line is a bad offensive line, no matter who is in at QB.

I know Harrington wasn’t doing great, but it wasn’t all his fault. Leftwich threw high when he had Robinson wide open in the end zone and missed him again when he couldn’t see him open on the Falcons’ last play of the game. He couldn’t see him because he was getting pressured, but guess what, that’s what happened to Joey the whole game. The only good play Leftwich had was a handoff to Dunn.

What do you expect from Harrington when he’s getting crushed on almost every play? Sure he missed some open guys, including the bad throw to Jenkins that resulted in a TD on the INT, but the offensive line let him down most of the game.

This was really. The defense gave the offense plenty of points and opportunities, but frankly, we should have been out of this game in the first half.

Pretty pathetic offensive showing. The line has got to give better protection and open holes for the running game.

Come on Falcons!!!

Feeling good about tie

The defense has a couple of big turnovers that have led to points, but they’re getting tired. Abraham looked spent toward the end of the half. They still held tough and held them to a field goal.

Gutsy call on the fake punt.

The defense has to get to Vince Young. We’re not getting any pressure on him. Joey needs some protection. You saw what he did when he rolled out away from the pressure and hit Roddy on a big pass play. Need more of those.
