Hope Leftwich is the answer
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Leftwich better be ready to run for his life, throw under pressure and get rid of the ball fast. It doesn’t matter who the starter is, the o-line has to block better if the Falcons are going to beat the 1-win Saints.
Petrino needs to get Norwood more involved with the offense. If the Falcons can’t run, they can’t pass and this team hasn’t done either this season. Roddy has been really good at times, but he’s not consistent. And until Alge makes catches he should make, he can’t complain. This would be a good game to make Horn part of the offense. He’s been pretty nonexistent in the first six games.
Hope Leftwich is more accurate than his last outing. He was sailing balls all through the stratosphere against the Titans. The receivers can’t catch passes thrown into their hands, much less those that are off target.
D. Hall needs to wake up. We need the “best corner in the league” to act like it.
Need a win desperately before the bye week.
Go Falcons!
And keep your racial comments to yourself. No one wants to hear them.

Hey BirdBabe,
I am not a D Hall supporter at all. in fact I am looking forward to us not resigning him once his contract is up, but the man had 11 tackles to lead the team last week and picked off an interception. Might wanna pick your spots a little better BirdBabe (or just watch the games).

Leftwich will just be a bigger and less mobile target for D linemen. It was interesting watching the New England Patriots game last week. Their philosophy is put your best players on the field no matter if it’s special teams, offense or defense. D Hall refuses to do anything but play corner so he doesn’t get hurt. This is the true meaning of Meangelo.

I can’t believe Joey’s dumb luck. Detroit? Miami? Atlanta? The only reason Atlanta has looked good lately is ‘cause Vick was an excellent QB. Much like Moss made the Vikes look good. Look at the Moss/Brady combo! Joey can lead a decent offense— he can’t turn lead into gold. Detroit: Could Garcia? Kitna? Miami: No comment.

This probably will be may last time this year posting something on the falcons blogs.Leftwich will lose on Sunday. We as fans really need to quit wasting our time on these blogs. Most of us can see what the falcons problems are and they will continue to lose because they don’t know how to make the right adjustment doing the game. The falcons will win a game around the end of the season. The only reason why they will win that game is because their opponents will be resting players for the playoffs.I’m looking at 2-14 or maybe 3-13.Falcons are finish for a very long time.

If Petrino keeps the same conservative offense that invites the defense to rush just about every time then Leftwich would be carted off by the 3rd Qtr. Then what? Go back to Harrington, after telling everyone he’s the problem? Redman, who hasn’t thrown a pass in 2 or 3 yrs? If he doesn’t change his playcalling, changing QBs, especially to one who’s as mobile as a tree, wouldn’t do any good.

It appears every single player on this team is a problem for this coaching staff.
Hello Coaching Staff “YOU ARE THE PROBLEM” followed by a clueless owner and a GM.
Can someone in the front office check and see whether we can leave Joe Horn there for free.
Leftwic is going to get creamed and the poor guy can’t even run for his life.
New definition for the Petrino’s wide open offense = CLUELESS.

Is Leftwich the answer? Come on! Where’s Alge’s, Dunn’s, and Brooking’s “professional honor” in this? Are they NOT involved? It is now crystal clear who the REAL LEADER of the Atlanta Falcons was—Mike Vick. Vick raised the level of play of every player on the Falcon’s roster. Period. Yes, we can keep HOPE alive, but it will take 3-5 years to rebuild. Byron, prove us wrong!

Babe, You said that Byron better be ready to run for his life, but when Vick was running for his life, yall said he needs to be more of a pocket passer. Make up your mind man! This is the same ol sorry a* line that Vick had to work with. Nobody respects this offense anymore without you know who. One more thing, why isn’t anyone bashing Jamal Anderson, they ripped Mario Williams all year. I know Mario was the first pick but the 8th overall pick should be better than that. He hasn’t showed me anything. We should have taken Patrick Willis to replace the hometown hero. Chauncey can do what Jamal is doing. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Bird Babe, Leftwich will get killed, too. The offensive line is the worst in league history. I would like for the Falcons to do something nice for a classy guy and offer Harrington back to the Dolphins, who just lost their quarterback for the season. Harrington did some good things for them last season and has done nothing in Atlanta to deserve being benched. It would be a nice gesture.

Ah excuse me isn’t that exactly what you criticized MV7 for doing?

The first half has proven three obvious things: the first is that Leftwich is the first real passing quarterback since Chris Chandler; the second is the receivers are possibly the worst in the league (can’t catch their mothers); the offensive line, and the whole defense is stupid (mistake after mistake). The good thing is that Atlanta doesn’t have to worry about a quarterback the rest of the season, maybe longer. Looking to the future, offensive and defensive linemen are a necessity. Maybe a clutch receiver would be a nice addition as well. Some existing players think they make the decisions on this team, and if that can’t be changed, all that do will have to go.

Truly, a snake-bit franchise. I can’t watch anymore this season. Bad players, bad coaches, bad effort, bad general manager. I have seen a life time of bad football here in Atlanta.

Hey Petrino, please phase out all of our veterans: -Crumpler talks, and drops key third down pass last week. -Gandy and Weiner’s replacements are an upgrade. Forney is horrible! -Warrick Dunn drops screen passes and spikes the ball to force us to punt! Norwood warms the bench and gashes the D when he gets the ball! -Milloy and Brooking can’t tackle air! -Abraham and Jackson are the only two veterans I respect (except for morten, of course)

Dear Falcons Players,
That run Reggie Bush made to get into the endzone, that’s how you play with some heart and emotion.
And how about that injury risk at QB? I knew playing behind that o-line would be Leftwich’s downfall. I guess it’s just not a good year for any black QB in the league.

Even though the Falcons lost, Leftwich looked surprisingly effective as the QB. I didn’t expect him to play as well as he did. I still don’t think he’s the answer, but I was wrong about him being no better than Harrington. He’s definitely a step in the right direction.

AGAIN DUNN lets the team down! and his time SHOULD be OVER!!!
Norwood gets 6 touches for 38, Dunn 13 for 28 and he drops the screen pass to kill the last drive, and then pulls some crap penalty too.
What evidence does Coach need to get Norwood more action and Dunn less?
Could not ask for much better QB play than we got today from Byron and Joey, too bad Coach gives it to Dunn 27% of the time.
To futher the point about Dunn take away to one 12 yard carry he had through a huge hole and he was 16 yards on 12 carries, pathetic!
