Monday Night Bummer
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Falcons had their chances. Not capitalizing on the fumble recovery or D. Hall’s interception hurt. They just can’t seem to take advantage of other team’s mistakes. Same as last week.
I was optimistic in the first few minutes of the game. Harrington looked good, the O-line was holding its blocks, the receivers were catching the ball. Then they could only get 3 points out of it. Kind of deflating.
Norwood’s long TD run was the highlight of the game. He can fly. The move he made was unbelievable.
The Falcons need a kicker who can make a long field goal. Morten is consistent within about 40-45 yards, but the Falcons need every point they can get.
The Giants got the boost after the roughing-the-kicker penalty and they never looked back. They got big plays when they needed them. Eli hit Plaxico, Toomer and Shockey with ease. How can someone be so open down the middle? How does the coverage break down like that? I don’t get it. D. Hall was sleep-walking through most of the first half, and then it was too late.
Too many Giants fans in the Dome tonight. Tired of seeing Manning and Shockey jerseys everywhere.
1-5 is bad. I don’t think this team is this bad. Joey is not great, but he makes good plays at times. He needs some help. He needs blockers and he needs the receivers to hang onto the ball. He needs to stick to the short throws. He can’t seem to make the long throws.
Go Falcons!!!

Unbelievable. If I hear Alge Crumpler say 1 word about ANYTHING, he’s on my hit list. 3 dropped passes, Joe horn drops 1, Dunn drops 1, all 1st down potential. If the veterans are going to play like that then I’d phase them out too. And where did DHall learn to tackle, the Barbie aisle of Toys R US? pathetic.

How about being able to hit a 48-yard field goal? We did nothing with that fumble recovery. We did nothing with D-Hall’s INT. We just don’t take advantage of opportunities, plain and simple. We simply find ways to lose.

We get a fumble recovery deep in their territory,, do nothing with it. They get the ball and drive a VERY EASY 80 +/- yards and they score a touchdown. That’s all that needed to happen for me to know that the birds would have a tough time against Univ. of Southern Florida right about now. Wait till next year,, when we can say “wait until two years from now”
Gonna be a long, slow, painfully sad season for the birds.

I’ve come to the conclusion that there is NOTHING that this team can do to improve this season. And it doesn’t matter a damn bit who’s playing. Whether it’s Joey, Byron, or Redman at QB or Dunn or Norwood at RB. This team has so many issues, it’s not funny. The receivers suck, point blank. The o-line sucks. And most of all, you get the feeling that none of these guys really give a damn if they win or not. I’ve seen senior citizens playing chess that have more enthusiasm than these guys.
Oh, and Byron Leftwich, SHUT YOUR MOUTH! You won’t do any better on this team. I think NASA is still looking for those passes you threw last week. You are not a starting QB in this league anymore pal. You deserve to be the #3 guy. Had you played tonight, you wouldn’t have gotten a single pass off.
Arthur Blank, blow up this team. Maybe by 2012, you’ll have a team ready to compete for the playoffs.

Norwood 8 touches 114 all purpose yards. Can we quit giving the ball to 2 yard plung Dunn?
I like Dunn but he is done, time to go to #2 or #3 on the depth chart or retire.
ALso Alge, quit your b*** and catch the ball, no wonder coach hasn’t been going to you. In fact, the recievers continue to let Joey down and he is not playing bad at all in my opinion. He gets killed all night and has at least 6 dropped balls that could have changed the game. D. Hall is a turd, he get toasted all game and then shows out after his one good play of the night. Get real, make a good play and get in the huddle or off the field, punk! No room for that crap in a TEAM game. Plus he only hits hard when he doesn’t have to take a hit at the same time. When he has to striaght up on someone he rides them down from the side. GATO
Props to the rest of the D that played tough most of the night. Cant stop the other team when you are on the field the whole game.
Those 6 plus drops really changed the game, and please give the ball to Norwood 20 times a game and we can win.

Will be interesting, but pathetic, to hear from Hall how great he is, and Crumpler chastising anybody this week. They both really stunk it up tonight. Even the announcers talked about how inept they played. Petrino and Harrington don’t deserve blame. They deserve sympathy for the lack of support they get.

Falcons started well but fizzled. Many Falcons failed to do their jobs but Algae Crumpler is the worst. Dropping passes is inexcusable but not holding blocks is worse - it is a total lack of effort. If he mouths off again about other teammates not doing their jobs, he should be released immediately. Maybe the Falcons ahould concede this season and start thinking about a high first year pick in 2008.

This team can’t be this bad. Petrino needs to go. Crumpler, Dunn, Jenkins, White, Horn all need to go. From what I saw the offensive line really looked better against a tough pass rush tonight than they did before the two veteran tackles got hurt. I say let Gandy and Weiner go, too, and go with the young linemen. I don’t see the effort and intensity you expect from the veterans on this team. So, what else is there to do but go with the youth and see what happens?

Great win for the Falcons tonight.
No, it may not count as a win in the record books, but it was a a win because it appears the freefall to 2-14 and the No. 1 pick in the Draft has begun.
All this winning is going to help us when we face the pressure of the St. Louis Rams on December 2nd, with the top pick at stake.
Just quit, baby!

The way injuries @ QB are hitting so many playoff hopeful teams—TRADE harrington AND Leftwich—for draft picks that we need—I’m talking 4th and 6th kind of picks. Think the cards would give up a 4th pick for harrington—how about carolina? The Falcons need so much help on the o-line and d line—trade Dunn back to the bucs—BLOW the team up—Keep Crumpler—he had a bad game so what people—he has been the offense for years, give hem a break. Get the first or thrid pick in the draft and trade down for some more picks—we could be two years away. The falcons are going to lose this year no matter what—so keep losing drop the players you are not interested in keeping—dunn/joey/leftwich—is joey harrington going to be the starter of this team in 3 years—no—are the falcons going to win this year…no
SO GET IT OVER WITH—-Drop these guys so the falcons have the draft room to keep Boley, etc.

Man it is a done deal. This team has no heart what so ever.. Brooking is still getting ran over and jumpin on the pile 20 yards later… Deangelo is still trying to rip the ball away rather than tackling…Crocker is still a horrible safety.. O line still sucks…. Kicking game still sucks. Our punt returner is getting paid to call fair catches…Dunn cant get any kind of yards. . D line still gets no pressure.. We still need a number 2 corner….We have the worse receiving core in the NFL easily. I saw around 10 drops tonight. This team is pathetic.. Dunn and Crumpler are missing Vick more than anybody other than probably the sorry o line. At the end of the day most people on here cant complain. Ive seen Vick get blamed for this trash for the last 3 years. People can hate him as much as they want but this team was at least decent with him at helm. This product on the field now sucks. Jamal Anderson is looking like a bust.. People said this team would be better without Vick. Well around here we call people like that idiots. Stick a fork in this no heart having team. Joey harrington still sucks

andy,
Do you not see the irony of Crump dropping passes after he 1) called out the coaching staff and 2) proclaimed himself ready to lead?
That’s the kind of crap the Falcons have been doing for my whole lifetime. All talk, no substance. No brains. No guts.
That being said, I think Petrino deserves a shot to build a team that can do what he wants to do. It can’t get any worse, right?

I wonder how many more games the Falcons have to stink up before people begin appreciating how many wins Michael Vick single-handedly accounted for over the last few seasons. I have said it before and I’ll say it again — Vick accounted for more wins by himself than any other player in Falcons history, except maybe Jamal Anderson. You can say what you want about him as a person, but as a player he will never be replaced.
I actually don’t think Hall played that bad today… he did have a pick and made a few other good plays on the ball. The secondary overall is clearly not communicating well, and it’s on Hall and Milloy to make it clear who is supposed to cover whom in the secondary. But individually, Hall didn’t have an especially bad game.
Let’s face it — this team is lacking in depth and talent at key positions, and that hasn’t changed in the last few years. Until Petrino can bring in more players that fit his scheme, this team will struggle, and that will take at least one more offseason to accomplish.

Hey, it’s easy to see that all the Falcons needed was a non African-American QB for “some” of the fans to see the problems with this team. There’s no need to complain about the O-Line now. True football fans have been saying it for years but “some” fans said it was all #7s fault. Now that old blue eyes is back there taking shots and playing bad football, it’s everyone else’s fault. When we struggled to put up points in the past it was because #7 was horrible but now that it’s old blue eyes back there, “he’s making good plays…”. I wonder why the assessment process changed…..

I’m the first one to say that Joey has gotten a bum rap on this board. I’m glad to hear that he’s a team player as echoed by teammates like Dunn.
However, on the last full possession with about 4 minutes to go, 3rd Down and 4, Joey was told to throw it. Musta been the voice in the helmet because he would not do otherwise. He ran up to the scrimmage line (which was six yards or so) with NO ONE on the line. He could have run it and slid on yard 8 with no one hitting his body. He kept focusing on making a good pass, and never looked at another option. THAT is the difference between good and great.
Schaub probably wouldn’t have seen it either, but Farve and Vick would. The other point is Harrington made so many good throws that weren’t caught. What IS going on ?
Finally, how do we keep Hall and Boley. They were rockets out there, making plays/being showstoppers.

Arthur Blank is a sactimonious gassbag. If he had actually selected players with character as he regularly boasted, the franchise wouldn’t have been destroyed by Vick. The roster is still full of punks and losers. There is no telling when this thing is going to bottom out - my guess, sometime around 2010.
Even if we have the worst record, we traded places in the first round with Houston! There is no end to the stupidity of Falcon management. Rich McKay - A blind chimp could put together a better draft!

SAME O,
it cause fans hate black people, hate black Qbs, and black players period. Get real moron.
No one cares what your skin color is at QB or any other position and if they do they are stupid and not worth worrying about or arguing with anyway.
Vick’s problems were the same as his strength. He could run away so he would never stand in the pocket and deliver under pressure and get nailed like Harrington did and does while delivering a catchable ball. Vick was done in by a horrible coach in Mora JR. Under Reeves Vick was growing and becoming a great QB, Mora tried to turn him into an “running” QB.
Vick did have the same problems (lack of support from recievers) but the line was not always his problem. While he ran well he fumbled A LOT, and missed open recievers A LOT too under Mora Jr. Vick would be one of the all time greats if Reeves was to remain his coach and he wasn’t constantly making bad decisions in his personal behavior.
So quit suggesting racism, its tired and its played out especailly in football discussions, except in the context of college head coaches. That is indeed troublesome.
70-80% of people under 40 don’t even think that way anymore black, white, brown, or whatever. OF course that 20%-30% that do are idiots looking to use race as a reason to hate or an excuse to fail.

Freedawg,
If you really think no one cares about skin color, your sanity is in question. If people didn’t care about such things, we wouldn’t have the Jena 6 situation or it would be an exception…and it’s NOT. We wouldn’t have laws with punishments slated towards the “typical” offenders…i.e, powder vs. crack cocaine. By the way, 350+ years of oppression does not go away in 35 years. The same people that opposed desegregation are still around and if you think their opinions changed because the laws did, you must still believe in the tooth fairy.
With regards to football, it wasn’t that Vick fumbled more than other QBs, it was that he fumbled outside of the pocket while the other guys fumbled when being hit in the pocket which is easier to blame on someone besides the QB. The biggest mirage is that the Falcons “molded” their team around Vick. That’s a joke because they never invested in the O-Line which is the true test of investing in your QB.

I’m rather new to ATL but boy, does this town have some of the worst fans in football? And why is it that race has to always be a factor in every equation? Vick is no longer here; he’s heading for the slammer along with T.I. Leftwich is not the QB of this team. Judging from the way he played last week in Tennessee, he is still a long way from being in a position to help this team consistently. In fact, he is literally a long way away from completing a pass to his receivers. The idiots in my section failed to realize that we had TWO rookies lining up against a future Hall of Famer and the NFL sack leader. And if these same folks are so strung up on race, have they already forgotten how many times the G-Men sacked McNabb a few weeks ago? Why couldn’t he run away from the pressure? This is not about race. The O-line did very little to protect Joey and whenever he did have time to deliver, his receivers hardly did him any favors. Joey is not perfect but there are many, many problems with this team right now. He does not deserve all the blame. I think there is still a lot of potential for this team to turn it around, especially playing in a weak NFC South.
There’s always going to be fairweather fans no matter where you go but damn, do the fans here take the cake. Overall, this team is playing just as poorly as its fans are supporting them. It’s absolutely horrible.

Bird Babe you are a bird brain! Enjoy your idol Harrington while you can! Doubt Falcons gave up? Watch slow motion replay of last Giant touchdown! That said. Time for Thanks For FALCONS…Being submissive like good F++++ B++++++ for another talentless Gotham team. Quitting at home on national TV. Embarrassing non-effort on national TV. Not showing up for scheduled game. Making marginally talented quarterback look like his champion brother. BROOKING…Fooling some into thinking you still have talent. Calling all the wrong defensive signals. Tackling like a girl not a linebacker. DEA++HOLE HALL…For humiliating orchestrated celebration following meaningless interception. For two Giant touchdowns plus numerous completions. SHUT DOWN MY A++! Love hug for Giant Burris. GET A ROOM! Oh, you did? Hmmm. CRUMPLER…For running big flapping mouth then falling flat on face at crunch time. PETRINO…For not replacing Harrington with anybody when everybody everywhere could see he was completely and totally ineffective. For stating Harrington would not be pulled no matter what he did. Showing the world what a true piece of untalented crap you truly are. HARRINGTON…Being the nightmarish reincarnation of George, Johnson and Miller. UGH! Love hug then pat on fanny for Giant Stahan for a job well done. GET A ROOM! All the wonderful sacks. Not running for first down on final drive when no one was within 100 yards of you. Not being team leader. Having huge grin plus verbal congratulations to receiver after key drop. SPINELESS WIMP! BLANKBRAIN…Leashing (appropriate) team to dog-murdering jailbird maggot thug. Not having a clue. Making Rankin Smith seem like genius. Now THAT takes some doing! ANDERSEN & NORWOOD…Being the ONLY Falcons NOT to quit. Performed with dignity and pride. God bless you both! I hate coming out of my bag,on racial issues. But to you MR.KLANSMAN David Duke. The offensive line is predominately White and your savior at QB is White and forgive me Falcon Fans (I think it’s because he’s playing out of position)our MLB is White. Now get off the race thing or move your A**,to Gina.La.You and your kind would fit white well down there.

I have been a falcons fan through the many downs and few ups over the past 20 years. Because of MV7, I never realized how awful this team has been over the past couple of years. I am glad that now everyone can see what a great player Vick was and what he meant to this team. It seems as if Mike took the courage, heart and soul of this dreadful bunch when he left.

Ray Ray, spare me the false indignation and the concomitant lecture on race relations. I did not make the entry you refer to. It was left by one of your fellow morons impersonating me. And Ray, it’s Jena, Louisiana. If you are going to reference a cause you should spell it correctly. Now, go back to being an idiot and don’t bother me again boy!

FYI: “David Duke” is not representing any racist group. Those enraged by his topic-centric commentary here only read what their prejudice WANTS them to read. He is simply using that moniker for (very) biting satire and to rile the most hate-filled and uneducated among us for everyone else’s amusement.
Based on the over-the-top reactions to his posts, especially by those knuckleheads STILL blindly defending MV7, “DD” succeeds on both counts.
Kudos!

you know that worse part about this team now? They wont be relevant in a couple of weeks for probably a decade or more. For those who say “vick isnt coming back so get over it” you are probably right, but most people will get over it by not watching or going to any more games. You think it is bad this year wait til next year when nobody cares. I wonder how many millions mr blank is going to lose. He is in the wrong city to lose the support of the people. There are too many other options in atlanta. oh well

I knew the falcons were finish before the season even got started. The falcons was a sorry team for the last couples of years and Vick wasn’t the reasons why they lost so many games.I wrote on the falcons blogs for about two to three years and I constantly said what the falcons problems were on offense and defense.Vick needed some pass protection and the receivers got to catch the ball.Vick had to go on HBO to let them know he can pass and do what it take to get a win.The offensive coordinator gave Vick more passing plays on the offense for two games with some protection,Vick played some great football and they won.The coordinator got back to his predictable play calling and the falcons were history.Vick also can throw a accurate pass, read defenses, and audible at the line of scrimmage.Vick got blame for everything and I wonder did they see the same game I just watched.I’m not going to say nothing about the no defense they have. Now Joey is the same situation and he never get the same blame Vick had received. Some of the people want this man gone or traded and this was before the dogs situation. You people are getting what you wanted. They always said if you keep asking for it,you just might get it.I’m so glad you people got what you wanted.1-5 thanks!

And they said amongst themselves “thats some Bll sht!! we’ll sho nuff show him and everybody else in the world we know how to let some punk*ss Vick wannabe get a real taste of the defense!” Well thats what it LOOKED like anyway.

Hey MaddenKing, About your statement:
“TO ALL THE BLACK CELEBS. WHO THE WHITE FOLKS ARE ARRESTING, MIKE VICK, T.I., PRODIGY, REMY MA, O.J. SIMPSON, PACMAN, BEANIE SIEGEL, THE GAME, LIL WAYNE, FOXY BROWN, LIL KIM, SNOOP DOGG, C-MURDER, PIMP C, BIG MEECH, AND GUCCI MANE, KEEP YOUR HEAD UP, US BLACK FOLKS HAVE YOUR BACK AND WE ARE GOING TO SUPPORT YOU REGARDLESS”
Dude, think about what you just said. Look at the names of the persons in which you are talking about. Names usually go hand and hand with your social status and or psychological make up.
I wish all the black folks would stop talking about race!!!! Im a black man and even i can see that Michael Vick was wrong. Atlanta Is still Dealing with civil rights/race issues and it seems like we are waiting for a DR King speech or Something..GEEEZZZZ!!!! Its sad when a fully grown man is still crying race and this is football for crying out load. Vick did what he did, admitted to it and blacks are still crying fowl. I feel sorry for the ones of you that still feel this way.
The fact is that this team sucked for the last 3 years anyway. Ownership has yet to address the defensive problems that have plagued this for years.
THE D LINE IS NOT RUSHING ANYONE, SO THEY MIGHT AS WELL DROP BACK IN COVERAGE!!!!
THE O LINE IS VERY, VERY BAD WHILE FORCING A TIMID J HARRINGTON TO MAKE RASH DECISIONS 50% OF THE TIME. NO WONDER M VICK RAN SO MUCH!
WARRICK DUNN - DONE. SHOULD HAVE BEEN GONE ALREADY.
MEANGO HALL - SELFISH!
NORWOOD - LIGHTING BOLT. NEEDS SOME TOUCHES.
DEFENSIVE BACK’S - POP WARNER.
RETURN GAME - WHAT RETURN GAME?
ATLANTA - 3 THINGS COME TO MIND WHEN I THINK ABOUT FANS HERE WHEN IT COMES TO SUPPORTING YOUR TEAM.

Anyway, i know its going to take this off-season to kick in before management shakes things up and until then i will remain optimistic for 2008.

Look we(atleast some of us) are not saying that Vick was not a Dumba@@ for fighting dogs. And if he broke the law, then he should be punished. What we are saying is that for the last two years, people on this blog were calling for MV’s head. I remember how some people on this blog were blaming Vick for each and every loss that the Falcons had. What we are saying is that you got what you asked for. A pocket QB who can see over the line, is well spoken and intelligent. Enjoy the season. Even is Shaub was under center, I don’t think he could have done alot more than JH. But hey the season is done. Let’s hope we lose the next 10 games so we can get a decent pick that can breathe life into this pathetic team. Oh yeah the GM needs to go ASAP.

By Vick being off the roster/team, the Falcons are showing the “WHOLE” World, by their pathetic performances, that it was all along a 1-man operation. Now, all those GM’s around the NFL are saying “damn, Montana couldn’t have pulled this off - we gotta get VICK!” So, thanks for all the support.

Well well well, here WE are y’all! Just gonna post some truths up here:
The O-line is not even there, it’s just five fb’s trying to block.
Joey Harrington SUCKS! Peroid. fin. End of the story. All this “he needs a line” or “his wr’s aren’t helping him with the drops” that folks like “Mr. Jaworski” are making doesn’t mean a hill of string beans to the people of Detroit and Miami. He had a better O-line in Motown and still lost, and a vastly superior line in Miami to the one we have and still couldn’t do squat. HE GOT BENCHED FOR CLEO LEMON FOLKS!! HELLOOOOO?
The “WR” that is Mike Jenkins needs to go back to Hollywood. All that good acting talent goes to waste in a non-film industry town..
The hole at RCB is now a par-72. I can only hope that Chris Houston can learn on the fly rather quickly because Lewis “I’m no Deion” Sanders is having tea with the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat as I type…
Scott Case WAS NOT a great safety. Lawyer Milloy USED TO BE a great safety. Chris Crocker WILL NEVER BE a great safety. So how would WE KNOW what Jimmy Will or won’t do?
6.Brooking is old and slow.Jessie Tuggle wouldn’t have gotten ran over the way Rueben Droughns did on 56 on the 1st td run. KB USED to be the man, but now i have to say he is a pile-jumper. Made a pass-d play here and there, but if u put a monkey in the middle of a field and tell him to try & catch a ball thrown over hi head, he’d do it too.
Michael Boley is the future of the WLB, Demorrio Williams needs to be a SAM LB and have blitz/ cover TE duty PERIOD, and Brook just needs to blitz or play a de/lb hybrid pos. for 3rd and long plays..
Has ANYONE seen Jamaal Anderson? I thought I did last night but that was just Luadcris in the suite section, standing next to this guy with an old S-curl doin’ the “dirty bird” (lol)!
No seriously? Has anyone seen him yet? I don’t wanna give up on the kid just yet but he’s not generating a pass rush of any kind but I will give him credit for being an adequate run-supporter. If Y’all noticed the Giants ran to Abraham’s side ALL NIGHT…
Is it me, or is it the fact that I thought a punt returner was uh, oh idk, SUPPPOSED TO RETURN PUNTS?? Adam Jennings is doing a worse job than Peter Jennings “returning” punts. Why not try him on the kick return? Or just get on your knees & swallow Rossum release?(pun not intended for younger bloggers)..
Coach Petrino, I watched your Louisville teams. I saw how you made Chris Redman a star in college b4 he became the sucessful 4th string insurance salesman that he is today. That being said, why are you trying to make an omlette out of a rotten egg? Your protections are crap. Even the ol’ ball coach said that the one thing that did him in at Washington was his protection schemes weren’t conducive to the pro game. And the qb that is currently statring isn’t making you look like the offense is progressing at all. He can’t throw a hail mary pass from the 50 without it dying at the 6 for crying out loud? Noodle arm Joe 4 sho.. And wtf are you not doing with Jerious Norwood? Try taking a cue and buying a clue from Sean Payton and try molding your off around your playmker like he does with Reggie bush? He11 not like it wouldn’t hurt what’s the worst that could happen, falling outta last place? And after you bench Noodle Arm, how bout you try going DOWNFIELD more and not so much horizontal/parrallel crap. WE JUST HAD THAT WITH JIM MO-RON, or di we all forget what the west coast offense was that fast?
Rich McKay is NOT OK. Dude, I love your attitude but the personnel sucks. You may have sold ol Artie on that lightweight O-line, WR in the 1st rd, depth building in the draft stuff but I’m grown @$$ 25 y.o black man living in one of the worst areas of ATL (College Park). What does that mean? It means I’ve seen and heard a hustle or 2 in my lifetime, and it’s not just an old disco dance. It means you can’t bulls^&& a bullsh77er sir. indeed a lot of this IS your fault, believe it or not, Ripley..
And lastly, which is why it’s at lucky 13, despite what some you all say, have said, or are saying, the simple fact of the matter is that MICHAEL VICK MADE THIS TEAM BETTER THAN IT ACTUALLY WAS. As a former GA Dome employee, I was able to witness first hand the on-field expploits of Mr. Vick live and direct. From 2002 until 2005 I was able to see the Falcons morph themselves into something I thought I’d never see in my lifetime: A relevant NFL franchise. The 02 season in which he was a full time starter absolutely ELECTRIFIED the Dome. This was the Dan Reeves Vick, which means there was an actual passing game to go with all the runs. Every fan I came into contact with, white, black, brown, etc told me themselves that HE wa the ONLY REASON they came to see the Falcons. And I worked on EVERY LEVEl so I met every kind of person, every type of income, every kind of personality, but they all agreed on that one principle.
Also, I find it VERY interesting that ALL the analysts, so-called fans in the know, and even sportscasters and writers have just now “magically discovered” that the Atlanta Falcons, of all teams, HAVE NO OFFENSIVE LINE OR WR HELP AT all!! Wow, who let that one out of the bag folks? surely it wasn’t I? As i have pointed out already, being an ex-GA DOME employee I saw the highs and lows. For all of his great plays he made with his feet, Vick made 80% of them due to the fact that he couldn’t sit in the pocket for more than 2 seconds MAX. People, especially “you people” who didn’t think he was a good QB for this team, scoffed then but are concerned now. For what “treason” would that be exactly? If such was the case then why would “you all” be so dejected and woebegone that fateful night in August of 2003 when “the dog killer” got his leg broken by Adalius Thomas when all he was trying to do was to avoid a missed sack caused by a missed block by Todd McClure. I was working the Gate B entrance (the door closest to the GWCC hall D, but back then it was dirt and steel) when I saw almost 50,000+ walk out in front of me screaming, crying, saddened by the loss of their beloved dog murderer. And all I heard for the rest of the season is “Y’all want sum falcun tickits? He11, I don’t need um now, Vick dun got hirt, gawd dangit!” Hmmm…
That being said from a guy who has been there 4 years na row, that same vick-less wonder from 2003 is rearing its ugly head once again in 2007, my bretheren. No blocking, no pass rush, no pass def, no run def, and hardly any pulse at all?? HMM looks like 03 to me. thank Gawd the Eagles don’t play her like they did that year, now that there was crazy. Everybody leaving after the end of the third qtr leaving only the opposing team’s fans… classic Vick-less Falcons in the ol Dome.
Hey I’m not saying that he shouldn’t be punished or suspended, he did wrong got caught so it is what it is. And I’m not saying or begging that he be pardoned so he can come back to us. Honestly I don’t see why he would after so much backlash and backturning exhibited by the management and “PETA”. But what i am saying is that after all that he has gone through and all that has been said, written, or typed about him, the fact remains that HE MADE US BETTER, just like the NeYO/Fabolous song sings. “You people” (doesn’t sound too positive does it? Should’ve told my principal that, she got a kick outta saying that to young nigra chillun like us) who don’t want a “dog killer” on the team because you feel it’ll make the team better, that you’d rather watch the team with just 30k “true fans” and multiple-loss seasons just so long as the “poople perp” is gone, all I got to say is Nukka please!
If you didn’t watch b4 Vick got there or doesn’t want to watch if he comes back, what on the good Lord’s green blue and brown earth would make ANYONE with a brain want to believe you when “you people” say it now? I worked there, I saw ppl leave early in 03, not caring BECAUSE VICK WASN’T THERE, so please stop your high-horsing. Im not defending him, I’m just pointing the finger right where some of “you people” don’t want it to be.
Have fun with “your championship pocket passer” (Jaworski quote from last night), “forget about the electrifying plays” (Jaworski quote from preseason game vs Bengals), hope you people “give the new coach some time; it will take Petrino 3 years to get his system fully in place” (yet another Jaworski quote from last night), and good luck on the way to the #1 or 2 pick (which should be spent either on Glen Dorsey or Darren McFadden), because Iv’e been down this dismal road of ATL sports years before so I’ll see “you people” at the Vick-nish line!
Ps- brohm would get KILLED behind this line. Ryan would be martyred behind this line. Woodson might have a shot, IN HIS @$$, behind it but idk. PAT WHITE IS YOUR FUTURE QB, BET ON IT..

By The Triumphant Return Of Trill Phil had the best post on here… For the last few years Vick got blamed for every loss no matter what really happened in the game.. If the wr’s dropped passes all the blame went to Vick. It was always “he has no touch” ” he throws too hard”.. If the oline was not pass blocking anyone Vick got blamed ” He cant read a defense “He is always running”.. Well now you see why. He could read a defense but never had time to go through his reads… If the defense stuck it up then it was Vicks fault. If the gatorade was not cold enough it was Vicks fault. Now all of a sudden the same problems this sorry team has had for years is all of a sudden a concern. Now people say we dont have a good o line , defense, or wr’s. NO S**. We have had these problems the last 3 years. I dont want to hear anyone saying this team was built around Vick… HOW WHEN AND WHERE? What qb wants a small o line who cannot pass block. What qb wants to be surrounded by wr’s who couldnt make it on a cfl team. What qb wants a defense who cant hold leads.. This team was not built around Vick. This team was poorly built straight plain and simple This season is done and it is kinda sad that it took a situation like this for the blindless and agenda having fans to see that this team actually has no talent… Enjoy the pocket passing qb who can see over the line and speak well and does not wear baggy clothes earrings or cornrows.

Can’t we all just agree on one thing; that the Falcons are losers. Once we agree on that, as they certainly aren’t winners, then we can have an effective meeting of the minds on how to move forward. All the whites in Atlanta who believe to know how a “Leader” looks, purchase your season tickets today because your “New Leader” needs your support. I wanted to cry for him last night as I was constantly reminded why Vick ran for 1000 yards last season:-)

We do enjoy having a quarterback who looks like a decent person and can speak intelligently. The previous quarterback was, by many, viewed as a thug for a long time. Those suppositions turned out to be entirely accurate. As for performance, Harrington has thrown for more than twelve hundred yards in six games. That’s a year’s worth for the felonious fellow who soon departs for prison. You supporters of the criminal element are quite amusing. You couch your support of the unlawful in ways to make it seem to be a rebuke of detractors whom you want to portray as racist. You don’t deny the accuracy of what they’ve asserted though. Here’s the truth! The erstwhile quarterback of the Falcons was a thug and a criminal to the bone. The courts have records that verify what I’m saying. Weep and moan and point yo nasty stankfinger all you want. He’s gone and he’s going to stay gone!

Byron Leftwich becoming the starting QB only changes two things:
Some of our African-American friends are going to be happier about our QB situation.
Bird Babe no longer has a crush on the starting QB.
Expect more three-and-outs, dropped passes, inaccurate passes, and sacks in the near future. Bring back Vick, and let’s go Hawks.

If Blank is a real business man Vick will be back. If Blank is the weasel finger in the wind politcian he seems to be now, he should announce that Vick is history. If I was the owner of that team and I’ve said the I have a father and son like relationship with the Vick. I would stand by the man. Poor Vick, his real Dad and Arthur turned their backs on him. Al Davis is not a wimp, this would have been handled differently.

Najeh.. Why is it that u and other white people seem to think that black folks don’t want a white QB or that we are against Joey Harrington??
We are only saying,(and im speaking for all black folks might i add),that with all of the excuses that u give for the woeful falcons this season,(the o-line,recievers),u are giving Joey a pass and u blamed Michael Vick for things in which he had no way of handling..
Like defensive laps, play calling on offense, among other things..
That man ran for his life play after play, after play..Games in which he excelled in passing were games in which the offensive line did their jobs and blocked..
And when the line gave way,(like they did on every play),he had the talent to do it with his feet..
Joey can’t,and won’t.. Byron can’t and won’t either..But Byron has a stronger arm than Joey and Byron will bring back the type of game that Petrino wants to play..
Vertical throwing,downfield football..
And P.S…With the addition of Houston starting, more teams are gonna go after D.Hall than they do the rookie..The rookie is not phased by “JACK”,but D.Hall is….

You can talk clear as day and STILL be stupid is as stupid does. Just look at the president…
You can be the most eloquent, gentlemanly, non-felonious, piano playin’ like Thessalonious (famous black guy for “you all”) QB on Earth and and still throw a 50 yard hail mary that lands at the 7 yard line like JOSEPHINE HARRINGTON.
SO WHAT IF HE’S WHITE, LIGHT, AND READY TO BE LIKED?
BOTTOM LINE: “she” SSSSSSSSSUUUUUUCKKKKSSSSSS!!!!!
(*Even though I’ll give him an A- for at least TRYING NOT TO give a game or 2 away FOR A CHANGE *)
My 2 two favorite QBs in the league are Tom Brady and Tony Romo. I grew up wanting to play like Troy Aikman and Dan Marino. and if I was alive at the time I’d want to play with Fran Tarkenton or Roger Staubach. Color my friend(s), has nothing to do with having a favorite footballer. ITS ALL ABOUT TALENT.
LET ME SPELL THAT OUT FOR THOSE (vick fan haters(notice I didn’t say VICK HATERS)):
It. Is. All. About. Talent.
Vick has (had?) it, Josephine doesn’t.
Don’t blame us, blame the genetic code, homes….
