Thank goodness
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Way to stop the bleeding. We needed a win in a bad way. Harrington looked really solid again. Maybe folks will cut him some slack. He and Jenkins and White seem to be really clicking.
Two touchdowns for Jenkins. He and Roddy are taking turns having huge games. Roddy made a few great catches, the one down the sideline was a perfectly thrown ball by Harrington. And then the one he had to turn on the afterburners and get his feet inbounds.
The defense had a great stand at the end. And then for them to miss the field goal was huge. Still giving up too many big plays.
I know the boys have been struggling, but I was disappointed with the Dome crowd. Good job to those who were there though because we were loud when we needed to be.
I’m so glad we have Morten Anderson. He’s money.
Go Falcons!!

The Falcons should win this game, the Texans don’t have WR Johnson. The dome will continue to be empty without Vick. I really hope Vick can make it back.

I hope Vick makes it back, but not here in Atlanta. He had his chance with us and completely blew it, time to move on. As far as the game goes, Joey is looking good so far and is playing within his game, lets hope he can keep it up.

Hey VickSupporter. On what grounds do you support Vick? I hope that once the justice system runs it’s course and he pays the penalty, that he will get his life back together. However you seem to support him blindly. The law regarding dog fighting is clear. He said he was guilty. What is there to support?

It’s nice to see that Harrington seems to be picking up the offense. He is really playing well, and based on his performance last week too this looks like it could be a trend and not just a fluke. A lot of credit is due Bobby Petrino too — I can’t remember the last time I saw playcalling this good from a Falcons’ coaching staff. Now if only he would give Norwood some more touches throughout the game…

Well the Joey-Matt Bowl has been decided. Two fumbles for Schaub both lost. Two TD’s for JH and a higher QB rating for the game. Nobody is crying over the Schaub trade any more, in fact we done OK… And nobody is missing that felon who will be wasting his life in prison and will never play in the NFL again. I forgot his name anyway. Go Joey!!

I TOLD you all that Harrington was not necessarily a bad QB (in Detroit & overall). ANy Qb needs protection and after a few years of not having it - he became “shell shocked” and began to see the rush (anyone with angry 300lb people would be that way). At any rate, notice how much better the protection was today (it got better last week, but it was REALLy solid today). I say all of this with one caveat though: Before we crown Joey as a “real QB and telling everyone how a real QB does it”…. let it be known that a REAL QB does it CONSISTENTLY!!!! I am hoping for that to be the case, but also hoping for consistency with the O-Line and Defense as well.

Great game by the Falcons today. It’s too bad that most of the posts are still talking about conVICKt. He is GONE and will NEVER come back. If you want to watch him play again you will have to go to prison with him. The Falcons are moving on, and now it’s time for us to move on. He was fun to watch, but he was and stil is a LOSER. He is a very physically talented person, but he is seriously flawed in the brain. He could have made a great wideout of scatback type of player, but never a GREAT QB. Go Falcons!

David Duke looks like you’re goin through the same thing Vick fans went through last year. Those fans were attacked on these blogs for supporting the quarterback. Now people just wanna see Joey lose for no reason. Kinda like you wanted Vick to lose last year. The point is, if you root for this team to lose, whether it be Vick or Joey at QB, then you aint a fan.

That Joey Harrington has looked extremely good the last two weeks. He’s just what the Falcons have needed for the last 4-5 years. Why do sports writers say that all of a sudden Roddy White is becoming a threat after struggling the last several years…ever think Harrington has something to do with Roddy’s success? Joey throws a catchable ball!!!!!

It’s really a weird situation for a franchise when a large part of the fan base is PO’ed because the team won without it’s black quarterback who had more loyalty for his dogfighting homies than for his team and generous owner.
I had to be out of state and couldn’t follow the game, but one thing stands out —- something we haven’t seen too much of: touchdowns from in the Red Zone.
Will read regarding the game details, but for nbow: Go FALCONS!

So Athensjack, what you’re saying is that Roddy has been good all along, but he couldn’t catch Vick’s passes. Then how come Crumpler could catch every pass? BECAUSE THAT’S HIS JOB…… just like it’s Roddy’s job and Jenkins job. Roddy has dropped catchable balls all his career. I’m glad that he’s finally coming around. Now maybe THE TEAM can win.

It makes me sick that the Fans aren’t supporting the team right now, that just shows that alot of them weren’t true Falcon fans but Vick fans. Good riddance, then! Way to go Birds, woo hoo! I love Schaubie but we needed a win more than anything! Almost all positives today, Joey looks like he’s having a great time & the o-line was dynamite again today! Great day for the receivers, maybe they weren’t the problem last year. Maybe they couldn’t catch Vick’s off the mark balls, mmmmm. Warrick is awesome as usual. Morten you are money in the bank, that last block wasn’t your fault. Martrez Milner just stood there & watched his guy go by, poor play by him. The defense played well but Lewis Sanders is a liablity just like J. Web last year. When are we going to get 2 good corners at the same time? Jimmy Williams must just be horrible if he isn’t playing by now. Another bad pick by McKay. Where are he & Arthur anyway? It’s like they’ve all but disappeared off the face of the Earth. I’m proud of this team for not giving up. Except for D. Hall who I can’t stand. Wish we didn’t need his talent on this team but unfortunately we do. Go Birds!!!

Good Game by Harrington. That’s two good games in a row by Joey. If MEANGELO AKA QUICK SIX AKA DINNERTIME HALL would have kept his damn mouth shut, we’d have been 2-2. But a win is a win. Next week, we’re heading to Nashville, where we hope to build some momentum. But you never know, Vince Young could come out there and lay the smackdown on our candyasses. GOOO FALCONS…..AND GO DAWGSSSS..Let’s make it 2 for 2 in the state of Tennessee this week as the dawgs face the Vols as well as the FALCONIES taken on the Titans.

Great win. Now we just need to get a little more pressure fropm the d-line and a little more explosion in the run game. The team appears to be close on both.
Big test next week a the Titans. Let’s all hoep that the defense can handle the versatility of Vince Young. Maybe….just maybe….they will be used to facing this type of talent….they used to do it in practice.

The fact that Jenkins and White are catching passes has nothing to do with who is throwing to them, but everything to do with the fact that they are finally being coached. Mora Jr was a horrible coach and was more concerned with being popular with his players than winnning. Fortunately, we now have Petrino and he can maybe make Jenkins and White look like the 1st round picks they are supposed to be.

One more time you Vick loving, thick-skulled, amoral, morons: Vick is gone for good from the Falcons. He is not here. He doesn’t factor into the games any longer. Unlike the AJC’s front page it is not a “Vickless” win, or loss, or anything else related to Vick any more.
If you want Vick so bad, then move to Virginia and hang out with him. He can probably use the company. Otherwise, shut the hell up about Vick. This is a Falcon’s blog.
And Vick Supporter, if you want to support one person instead of a team, then go watch golf or tennis. You are as big a loser as your hero.

I don’t really think there is anything wrong with supporting one player. We all do not have to be fans of any one team. I am a Hawks/Falcons/Braves FAN, but also a Vick, Dwayne Wade, Shaq, McCann, Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush, Guerrero FAN. There’s nothing wrong with that at all. You shouldn’t be forced to support any TEAM if you only like what the player does on the field.

I don’t understand why we can’t move on without the constant debate over MV7. We have a new team leader who has, for the most part looked good. Petrino is known as a qb coach and, just maybe, he is what Joey has needed. I know he’s surrounded by good players who were poorly coached in the past couple of years. Except for a few bone-headed mistakes, the Birds have looked fairly good. I have felt all along that they are better than they looked. We still have a ways to go but I’m confident we’ll get better under Petrino as we get more comfortable with his system.
Let put MV7 aside and focus on supporting (or not) the team and debate that issue versus his mistakes.

I know, deep down, that Vick is a convicted felon, isn’t playing football anymore and has exacerbated his problems by smoking dope. He’s also bankrupt, morally and financially. I also know, deep down, that last season the Falcons were last in passing in the league. I know they lost more than they won and that the former quarterback stabbed the coach in the back. “You people”? My, my, Vick Supporter, are you stereotyping anyone who supports the Falcon’s without Vick?
You’re the fool always harping about him. I personally didn’t give a crap one way or the other about Vick as human being. He was the Falcon’s QB, nothing more.
He screwed his teammates, he screwed the fans, and he screwed himself. Like dozens of other celebrities before him, he went down in flames. Now, dumbazzes like you are trying to keep the flame alive. Pathetic.

Grampus, yeah Vick messed up, but I’m still a fan. He was/is electrifying and I like to watch him play. However, I will never, ever pull for the Falcons to lose. Even when he comes back into the league and plays us, I will still pull for the Falcons. His dog killings have nothing to do with him as a player, and we will never know the magnitude of his personal life. I don’t necessarily agree with the way the Falcons handled the situation. That could be the reason why Vick Supporter has that particular view.

David Duke, that may be true, but dogs aren’t on the football field unless you’re in Athens, GA. Dogs aint the reason we went deep in the playoffs two of his four starting years. And may I point out that dogs aren’t the reason why you hate him so much.
