Don’t blame Joey

Harrington can’t do anything more than he did today. He passes for more than 350 yards and two touchdowns and no interceptions, and the Falcons still can’t win.

D. Hall needs to shut his mouth. He cost the Falcons a touchdown. After the pass-interference call, let it go. Don’t keep running your mouth. The Falcons had the Panthers stopped, until D. Hall opened his mouth again. He needs to know when to shut up. Petrino should have pulled him out. 10 penalties for 135 yards. That’s what cost the Falcons. Stupid penalties. Where’s the discipline? And refs, if you’re going to call us for a late hit, call the late hit on Peppers. That was more of a late hit than the one on Delhomme.

Harrington hit Roddy White, he hit Alge, he hit Michael Jenkins. He can’t do anymore than he did today. The line protected him and he found receivers. The running game even came around in the second half. Norwood found some holes and looked good.

I was optimistic at halftime. Despite Dunn’s fumble and the botched snap on the field-goal try, the Falcons were tied.

Still looking for that first win. It should have come today. Thanks, D. Hall.

Go Falcons!!!

Why don’t the coachs the that dumb S.O.B D Hall out of the game. He just gave Carolina 4 points. All D. Hall can do good is run his mouth and he is a 100% thug.

You’re exactly right. He’s an embarassment. (Is it merely a coincidence that he’s a VT product?) From “I Own 85” to 3 penalties on that last drive…what a joke! It might be different if he could tackle.

D.Hall has to be the most overated, trash talking without backing it up defensive back in the league. If he thinks he is even in the top 10 DB’s in the league, well he is clueless. I’m tired of his antics, and I hope Bobby Petrino sits his a* down for the next month for mouthing off to him. D.Hall costs this team more points than he saves through quality play. Play the game and back it up with your play, instead of your big mouth!! I really used to like D.Hall, what was I thinking. The Falcons would be smart to let him go and find someone who is concerned with their play and not trash talk. He can’t even back it up. It’s really sad. OMG, I’m over him. He may cost them this game.

D’angelo Hall’s antics might cost us this game. First he got the pass interference call, which wa bad enough. Then he gets a personal foul call. We fight that off but then the dummy gets another penalty that leads to a touchdown. All the energy is out of the Dome!! Thanks D Hall!!!

It appears to me the fix is in … 10 penalties on the Falcons and 2 on the Panthers. Come on … call the same penalties on the Steve Smith and all the holding the Panthers are doing.

Looks like NBA refs aren’t the only ones who bet on the games they are officiating. This makes the NFL loo ridiculous. They are headed to about the same popularity level as basketball (10,000 fans per game) if they allow this to go unpunished.

DHALL is the most ordinary cornerback. Athletic freak but so what? If I hear him call himself a shutdown corner again, I’m gonna scream. I’d like it better if he was a shut the hell up corner.

Also, isn’t it about time for Norwood to get the ball 20 times a game already?

Imagine what a real QB could do with Petrino.

No one on this blog knows what was said between hall and smith so no one has the right to say anything. that was stupid of the refs to call that in the first place. We got beat not only by the panthers, but the refs. They call plays for the panthers but they missed alot of late hits on harrington..and by the way, ZIMMER, U SUCK!!!no pass rush what so ever. abe cant do this alone.

D’Hall is a total joke. He personally cost the Falcons this game. Not only can’t he cover anyone, he can’t control his damn emotions. Steve Smith had honey on his Toast today. Someone needs to get the names of the fools who vote D’Hall a pro bowler. The only pro bowl he ought to be thinking about going to is the one at Lenox Lanes. Totally disgusting but unfortunately we have seen this story before.

DeAngelo Hall killed the momentum of the team with his three-in-a-row- penalties and his inability to tackle. He has a brain about the size of a walnut to jeopardize his team’s sucess by running his mouth.

It was an outstanding game until MeAngelo played the fool and killed the momentum.

2 Personal Fouls & a Pass INT in one drive = 67 yards.

Giving up a touchdown because of it = 7 points.

Losing momentum & ultimately the game = priceless!

Good job Angela Hall. You single handed let your teammates down and gave Carolina the win. You had no discipline with the last coach… You still don’t have any under this coach. Something tells me you won’t be around long. :-)

Living in NC this was the first time I was able to see a Falcon’s game. After seeing the game I feel better about the team. I think its more mental than having a lack of talent. Each week we are getting better. Because we are in the NFC South we can still do some things.

Joe Horn is S++T! Worst receiver in Falcon history and that is a list NO ONE wants to be on. Only two Falcons have enough talent to play at major college level -GREAT DANE ANDERSEN and NORWOOD! Rest are pathetic wastes of oxygen. If there is ANY justice this group of quitters will go 0-16! Love Harrington’s ear-to-ear grin after home loss. CS SOB loser!

This team is a bunch of worthless, overpaid gang of babies. On offense, the receivers can’t catch and the runners can’t run. On defense, the Panthers’ running backs were dragging the Falcons’ defenders all over the field—and Deangelo Hall and Lawyer Malloy couldn’t cover my grandmother running a pass route with her walker. Arthur Blank needs to fire every single player, ask for their signing bonuses back and replace them with a high school team.

Like every week, I’ll say it… You white people got what you wanted. You got a ‘real’ QB. he put up 300 yards (although they were all short passes, except for the TD to White), had a high passer rating, AND THE SORRY TEAM STILL LOSS. i love it more every week that the Falcons lose. first of all, i dont remember steve smith scoring a touchdown so kno matter how much yall talk about d-hall, he did something right besides the lil episode that happened. he shut steve smith down..yall are so caught up with the episode, but this lost can be based on awhole lot of other people like joe horn who missed that catchable touchdown, and the refs for not calling 2 late hits. Great game Harrington, Norwaaod, White, Abraham and Andersen. All you other bums suck.

Brooking is so slow he can’t cover those tight ends that get open in the field.

Dunn is not cutting it in this offense. Time to bench him and give all the carries to Norwood.

Why the hell did we give all that money to Ovie and I never see him on the field.

Jenkins and Horn are bums, waive their butts.

Meangelo single handedly blew this game.

They need to have a fire sale in the offseason and start from scratch. This includes drafting Darren McFadden (not Brohm) with the first pick.

yes, this team is just so loaded with talent. FIRE RICH MCKAY!!!!!

The problem is that it is hard for Blank to blame McKay because Blank intervenes so much. McKay did not want Leftwich. He would have signed him weeks ago if he did. But because the fans and AJC demand it, Blank panics and goes and signs him. I’m glad they did but they should have done it weeks ago. But Harrington looked very good tonight.

McKay is inept but the bungling Blank muddies the waters too much as to whom is to blame.

We have a good head coach with a good offense though. Looks like a top 5 pick. DRAFT DARREN MCFADDEN LIKE WE SHOULD HAVE DRAFTED ADRIAN PETERSON!

Dirtie Birtie, THose guys are HIGHLY paid professionals! ONE PLAYER DOES NOT MAKE A TEAM REMEMBER? They have a job to do, they just suck at doing it. If you people blaming Vick for them being such losers, you gotta acknowledge that he made them better than they really were and was the reason for the wins, but you won’t do that.

Did Keith Brooking play? That dude really blows. Every Falcons with a ‘C’ on their jersey is sorry. How can you lead if you can’t play? Brookings’ should be a ‘G’ though, for GATEWAY….

Granted D Hall made things hard for himself, but the referees were horrible! Football is a game built on aggression and grit. What the refs did today was they took the aggression out of the game. It’s hard to fight on when the refs are calling the games like a bunch of panzies

OMG GET OFF OF D’HALL PEOPLE. THE FIRST PENALTY WAS A STUPID A* CALL BY THE OFFICIAL. THAT WAS NOT A BLOW TO THE HEAD OF STEVE SMITH, IT WAS JUST NORMAL FOOTBALL.

SECOND, THE TRASH TALKING. STEVE SMITH WAS TALKING JUST AS MUCH TRASH AS DHALL.

STFU about D’Hall, he basically shut Steve smith down the whole game.

And I can’t be more proud to have seen Joey Harrington today, he kept us in the game with great decision making, and sound execution for the most part.

We lost, but we have a spark of life.

Bird Babe, you stole my thunder, you are so right. This is all on that big mouth trash talker D. Hall. I know Mora would’ve taken him out for a drink & said it’s OK. What’s Petrino going to do about it? This has always been a problem & today it cost us a win. Period. Hall is talented but not as talented as he thinks he is! Just shut your damn mouth & if you’re as good as YOU think you are, show us, don’t tell everyone about it. I am furious. Joey played awesome, the o-line was beyond great, Roddy, great day again (he’ll learn how to block eventually) but we are not a good enough team to overcome one player’s assisine penalties! So glad to have Morten back where he belongs & Abe also, fabulous game. One playcalling note, no more stupid draw plays, please!

Jimmy, S. Smith didnt have to score a touchdown. Deshaun Foster pretty much had that area covered. Bottom line, Smith got in his head and thats where Hall screwed up. This could have been a great momentum builder for next week, but oh well. Get ready everybody, Schaub is coming to flip US off next week.

I totally agree that “De-Angelina Hall’s stupidity ultimately cost us the the game. De-Angelina shows his immaturity and self centeredness by making it about himself, not about the team. A real pro with half a brain walks away after the play is over and we’ve stopped them. He says he is a shut-down corner? Who exactly has he ever shut down? He needs to be a “shut-up” corner.

DeStupididiot hall should be fined a games pay for his actions and non-actions. His feces spewing mouth and his street hood brain cost the Falcons the game, no doubt and no discussion. After he personally gave the Panthers a touchdown, he made no effort what so ever to tackle Smith and gave them a field goal. The NAACP buried the word that accurately describes Hall.

Sure, you can say it’s not Joey’s fault this time, but take it from someone who watched Joey implode up here in Detroit. Joey is a servicable QB who will be a valuable clipboard holder for Brain Brohm when Petrino drafts him in April. Dona’t expect Joey to develop into anything else, and don’t get mad at him when you guys are mathematically out of the playoffs after week 11.

Well, here we go again. For once the offense shows up, and the so-called defense takes a dive in the second half. I thought Petrino was a no-nonsense guy, but as usual, this team is out of control. 10 penalties is totally inexcusable for a so-called professional football team. As far as Dethuggio Hall, he should be benched then traded if they can get anyone dumb enough to take him. What a classless idiot! He is almost as much an embarrassment as Con-Vick. Never thought I would say this, but big play Ray Buchanan has more class than Hall any day. Oh well, maybe next year.

Hey interloper, you get a clue. I’m gonna give you a short lesson on NORMALTIES and ABNORMALTIES. Joey had ONE LONG PASS, a 69 yard TD pass, that started as a SHORT SLANT. Remove that, and you got 292 passing yards on 43 attempts which is 6.8 yd average. Alge’s TD was a short pass turned into a longer play. Joey is a checkdown passer, meaning its a NORMALTY for him to throw short passes. It was an ABNORMALTY ofr Roddy White to get all that YAC, that is all. Learn the game….

It amazes me to no end. We have some of the most moronic fans in the NFL. If you actually watched the game, you would have noticed that Petrino’s play calling got a tad bit conservative in the 2nd half. We had them on the ropes by running the 3 and 4 wides package, then messed that up by trying to establish the running game. D-Halls penalties did not cost us the game. Hell, the last 2 were bad calls by the refs anyway. The defense didn’t help either. Typical Falcons fans. When in doubt, blame the black guy.

Great game Joey; unfortunately this will be the year the birds will be defined by finding a way to lose the game. Today it was solely on D.Hall. I wont repeat what has already been said but it now doubt changed the entire game. It is sad that Joey has a stellar game but we lose. This team isnt built around big play makers, so we have to keep mistakes to a minimum and we have to stop the run. o for 3 on our way to 0 and 16.

Screw you D.Hall; I’d rather lose games without your sorry no good inflated ego piece of crap butt for a player…

We can’t win with your no leadership non tackling skills, you must have been schooled from the other 21 that use to play for the Falcons.

I did not see you make one single tackle or even help out on a tackle. You are so OVERRATED “keep it real dude”

Yeah, come off the field and continue your bit**ing tirade with the coaches and your head coach…

you are a dam* looser…plain and simple, yeah, you are a game changer alright. The Falcons tanked after your childish temper tandrum…Number 90 should have slapped you in the face…baby…

Most of you guys are unreasonable, uninformed and probably not old enough to make a proper assessment of the Falcon’s situation. I will spare you all of the details but, This team is not a defending Super Bowl Champ. It is essentially a new team, with a new Coach, with a totally new offensive scheme with new players. That means it takes time to develop cohesiveness confidence and unconscious competencey. That means doing the task without having to think about it. What we want to see is growth, development, and weekly imnprovement. We are seeing that. This was the best game played this year. It looks like the officials were bought. The announcers on TV questioned several calls. These calls directly affected the course of the game. Additionally, While Dunn and Norwood are excellent runners, we traded the missing key, DJ Duckett. We need a big strong fast running back for this offense to click. I have a bet with my son that Harrington will be a QB with a top ten QB rating. I still think that will happen.

It hurts to lose a game we actually had more than a shot of winning. But, in this loss, I do see hope. I saw an offensive line FINALLY protecting the quarterback. I saw continued improvement from our wide receivers. I saw our QB, after a week and threat of competition, following the instruction of the coaches by getting the ball out of his hands faster (that ties back in with the O-Line). Inspite of Deangelo Hall’s antics, our defense, for the most part, was not run over. I don’t think we will have a winning season but I do think that we will have a better one than I imagined. Continue to put some good things in place, in a couple of years, we could be real champions. Slow growth is the only way to have sustaining growth so I don’t anticipate, and would be worried about, a great team by the end of this or even next year. Rich McKay, however, may not be the best person to get us what we need. And Arthur Blank, as much as he loves the game, needs to allow the professionals make the personnel decisions. Being a lover of the game does not qualify you to make good sound personnel decisions. If it does, there are thousands of bloggers/fans who are equally as qualified.

Ok, I’ll admit the pass interference on D. Hall was his fault. But that saved a touchdown!!! Then the next play the refs called him for hitting Steve Smith in the head. He never even touched his head. D. Hall hit his shoulder pads so hard his little neck snapped back. Then he got flagged for “abuse of an official” when he was talking trash to Smith. How is that abusing a ref when players talk trash all day. He shut the man down people!!! Steve Smith had one catch for 10 yards!!! He’s supposed to be a Pro-Bowl WR. D. Hall did his job. I’m not excusing his actions but the refs cost us the game. I’m just as frustrated as the rest of you about losing, but give the man credit. He did his job.The refs were point shaving!!!

OK, another tough lost for the Falcons that everyone feels we should have won. Lots of blame to go around but two main reasons we let this one slip away and that was the costly penalties and lack luster defensive effort. Joey played well today and we actually got what we expect from him, short passes which can lead to big plays when given time to throw. This is going to be a long season so buckle down and tough it out. Remember, most of the comments posted on this site aren’t from true Falcons fans or fans of any kind. They are simply people venting because of their own short comings in life. I hope this year will help gel the team together and build for next year. What Blank needs to do is this: 1) Break the Georgia Dome Lease immediately. 2) Seek a more supportive, more progressively minded city in which to base this team. 3) Move the facilities ASAP from this God-forsaken place. I bet that the Falcons’ fortunes change for the better immediately.

If nothing is done to control him, then Petrino is just as guilty as Hall and deserves to be fired immediately. Meangelo Hall epitomizes the Atlanta Falcons in the Arthur Blank/Rich McKay era. This organization is in a horrible state and there’s very little to look forward to other than the possible (probable?) ouster of McKay. McKay has assembled a team that basically lacks talent. Blank hired McKay. Blank probably wishes he didn’t own this miserable franchise. Petrino probable wishes he didn’t leave Louisville. Fans in the seats are wishing they didn’t root for these perennial losers. This season is shaping up to be awful even by Falcon standards.

I’m a Carolina fan I’m not sending these comments out to trash talk- just to offer some objective comments as a football fan. The Falcons played a good game- they deserve alot of credit. I thought this was a get well game for the Panthers, but they had to fight for it. I think alot of you are heaping too much blame on DHall. He is a big mouth and I don’t like his style, but he played a great game against Steve Smith. He probably needs to be quiet sometimes, but one of those ref calls was borderline. And admittedly, the refs were not great today- there were bad calls that went against the Falcons. But I did think that the Falcons had trouble stopping our running game- I haven’t heard anyone talk about that. The Falcons haven’t found a way to stop DeShaun Foster yet. I think that won the game in the fourth quarter even after all the referee shenanigans and drama.
Nice game though, very competitive. You are not as bad as your record. And we’re defiinitely not as good as ours. We could be 0-3.

D Hall gets beat again! I mean seriously, we have seen this time and time again… Now, I can understand the pass interference so Steve Smith doesn’t score, but the two personal fouls are a little ridiculous. Chalk this one up to D Hall. The proclaimed best cover corner in the NFL. I am officially tired of his mouth and excuses. How may draft picks is he worth? The best part is he will probably make the Pro-Bowl this year!

It amazes me how some people, you notice I didn’t say fans, continue to blame Vick for the 0-3 start of this team. This proves that he could not win games alone, no one can. A good team is balanced on both sides of the ball. Right now, the Falcons are not a good team. Some games the offense will show up and some games the defense will show up. When both decide to come to the game together, the team will start winning. Love debating football and the Falcons but after reading several of the comments posted on this site, I can’t find much intelligence here.

How is it that Hall is catching all this flack and being called a “thug” and Steve Smith is getting off scott free. He obviously said or did something to set Hall off. I’m not saying Hall should have let him get to him like that, but Smith is as much a punk as anybody in the NFL. And those unsportsman like penalties were poor reffing. Never should have been called. Yes, he cost us that drive, but he otherwise shut Smith down or this would have been a real flogging. Hall can be a numbnut, and maybe doesn’t always have a great attitude, but he is an awesome cover corner. He wouldn’t be going to the Pro Bowl every year if he wasn’t.

Why did the refs call those ridiculous penalties but not the 2 obvious late hits on Harrington, or the blatant push off by Carolina’s TE against Milloy on his TD catch?

The way Petrino reacts to the undisciplined actions of D. Hall could be the turning point in his short career with Atlanta. He must make the point loud and clear that undisciplined acts that adversely impact on the team are not going to be tolerated.

Un-freakin’ believable the way Hall absolutely took the air out of the momentum.

MEangelo Hall is consistent.Consistently BAD!!! He has consistently allowed every big time opposing reciever in the league from Chad Johnson, Steve Smith to T.O. to arrive in the ATL under great fanfare and leave with “The ME One” looking like a fool.He is consistently dominated! He has consistently been exposed as the CB he truly is. A weak one. An individual with great speed and athleticism but below average coverage abilities. He is at best the 3rd best corner on the team. Hall penalties hurt, but that one series didn’t cost us the game. The run defense is still atrocious and I’m wondering why we signed Joe Horn to big contract when he’s done nothing. He wants to be PRIMETIME but he plays like DINNERTIME. MeAngelo gets eaten up by the receivers he’s supposed to be covering. What a waste!!!!

Joey and the offensive line played well, abe is great while he is healthy, coaching adjustments are being made, and Leftwich is learning the system..If we can stop the run for a change , things will get better..d hall is overrated but the same people who are complaining would change their tune if he were out and some other guy was getting burnt in his place..

DeAngelo should be fined and made to sit out a game or two to let him know that you don’t lose it on the field, costing your team the positive momentum —- AND, YOU DON’T GET IN YOUR COACHES FACED AND YELL AT THEM! Petrino must deal with this breakdown or lose this team.

REGARDING VICK: FORGET ABOUT HIM. HE’S GONE. HE ABANDONED HIS TEAM FOR THE COMPANIONSHIP OF HIS HOMIES AND HIS LOVE OF SEEING DOGS KILL EACH OTHER. ANYWAY, HIS RECORD OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS HAS BEEN PITIFUL AND HIS ENORMOUS AND EXTRAVAGENT SALARY WAS DRAGGING THE TEAM DOWN.

Okay…. This idiotic attitude that you cannot defend someone without being exactly what they are is crap. You people want everything simple and black and white…. Hall has always been on the verge of blowing us a game, but he also hits harder than any corner his size and does a decent job most days shutting down top-notch receivers. So… because I see cons AND pros with a guy, guess that makes me a thug? I guess my skin color is right, huh?

This moronic, prejudiced, oversimplification smacks of the phrases “with us or against us” and also the term “n*er lover.”

**Boots,

How dumb can you be? When have you ever seen Steve Smith held to 1 catch for 10yds? Never, unless you saw him play his first pee-wee game. D. Hall didn’t cost us the game. He needs to shut up and play but 1 man didn’t cost us the game. The Falcons run defense is atrocious. Which position is designed to make the most tackles in the running game? Do you even know football? Well, it’s the MLB (middle linebacker, not Major League Baseball, idiot). Who plays that position for the Falcons? That’s right, your resident sorry-@ssed token player, K. Brooking. He’s cost us more games than he’s ever been a factor in throughout his career.

Regarding Vick: Why is it that all of you “fans” choose to cherry-pick stats when it comes to Vick? Why only mention his record for the last two years? What was our defense ranked the last two years? What about the offense? Bet the offense out-ranked the defense both years. Sorry @assed “fan” favorite P. Kerney contributed to how many wins in those years? He had 5 sacks in two years. I bet that contributed to our defense being one of the worse in the league those last two years. Even more than Vick’s play contributed to our losses.”

Don’t jump on the Harrington band wagon yet. What I saw was 20 to 25 passes for 3 or less yards. All he did was save his job for one more week. When play a defense that puts pressure on him he will be back to old Joey. Again to all of you people who think they know football throwing for 300 plus yards means nothing if you loose. In the 5 games that Harrington has thrown for 300 plus yards they have lost the game. So that tells me all he is doing is passing in front of the defense.

YEAH BLAME D HALL. ALL HE DID WAS HOLD ONE OF THE TOP THREE RECIEVERS IN THE GAME TO ONE CATCH AND TEN YARDS. LAST TIME I CHECKED YOU CAN HIT A RECEIVER IN THE FIRST FIVE YARDS LEGALLY. HE GOT ALL CHEST PEOPLE! WHAT GAME WERE YOU WATCHING? THAT WAS A TERRIBLE CALL. AND IF YOU ARE GOING TO THROW A FLAG FOR TRASH TALKING YOU COULD HAVE GOTTEN BOTH OF THEM. WE ALL KNOW THERE WAS LOTS OF WORDS COMING FROM BOTH PLAYERS. WE LOST THE GAME BECAUSE WE COULD NOT STOP THE RUN AND WE GOT AWAY FROM WHAT WAS WORKING IN THE FIRST HALF.

To the idiots “dancing” and blasting your “music” in the Yellow Lot for 3 hours before the game:

1) Falcons games are family events. There are 8-year-old kids tossing the football around in the parking lot. Do you REALLY think it’s appropriate to loudly play Kilo’s “Nasty Dancer” and “All in Her Mouth,” Master P’s “Make ‘Em Say Ugh,” etc? Come on, people. At least ACT like you’re civilized.

2) Are you unaware that people exist outside of the 10-foot-radius around you? People are just hanging out in the parking lot, eating some food and drinking some cocktails. We don’t want to hear your nonsense while we’re chilling before the game. How would you like it if I pulled right up next to your site and blasted Montgomery Gentry as loud as possible? You people are self-centered, inconsiderate morons.

I’m so sick of people defending players that act like children on the field. These men get paid millions to play football. Did you see what he was arguing with Smith about? Who makes more money, and who drives the fancier car. What a f moron! His penalties clearly changed the momentum of the game, and these falcons need every little bit they can get. After he came off the field, D Hall procedeed to point his finger in Petrino’s face and yell at him and other coaches. Go join your boy in Cincinatti so we can spend your salary on a real corner. Someone who is more interested in playing football than talking about it. The sad thing is Hall was actually having a decent game up until those penalites, and he clearly just lost it. If I was the head coach, Hall wouldn’t play for a month for getting in my face on the sideline.
